We adopted a puppy.we looked around.got afew things.its nice to have a local pet store. The cashiers where very friendly.

Took my senior dog in for grooming.she has anxiety and can be difficult.bree and lily were amazing with her ! I highly recommend them .I definitely was put at ease .they are very kind and helpful ☺️

Shout out to Nate in the grooming department at pet supplies plus. He took his time and did an amazing job with my dog. I will only use his services for future appointments. Hes kind considerate and knowledgeable. My dog was so chill when he came home. Normally he has severe separation anxiety.

I would like to share a great experience my wife and I encountered at your Rome, NY location. Our dog is elderly and has severe arthritis in her legs. It is always a hard and sad time for us to have her nails cut, as it causes her pain. We recently entered your store and we were greeted by team leader Jillian. Jillian was friendly, listened to our concerns and began cutting our dogs nails. Through the whole process she was understanding, patient, helpful, and displayed a strong love for animals. She couldnt have been more helpful and she seems to be an asset to the store.

I have a short haired dog, so the bathing is usually fine, but I asked if I could get my dogs nails painted -- it was $5 and Id never done it before and wanted to try it. The paint was not cute and mostly wiping off, which is whatever. But the dog hair around the nails was also painted and, to top it off, they got paint on her actual hair. Why wouldnt they at least wipe it off of her before I picked her up? Now I have to clean her off AT HOME...so what did I pay for besides getting her nails clipped? She was also damp when I picked her up. They didnt even let her fully dry. I wanted to try this place because its closer to where I live, but back to PetSmart I go. 🤷🏾‍♀️Updated to add: they BARELY cut her nails. Theyre jagged and some of them are still long.

The Groomer Lily did A Beautiful job on My Corgi Kinsley Shes soft and fluffy!!!! She looks like my Little Cowgirl with her Bandana and Star barrette Highly Recommend Lily To Anyone Shes Kind and Compassionate with My Fur Baby

Not a lot of cat things and its said online they had what I needed in stock and it wasnt there.

They seem like they know what is being talked about but when I listen to them and get stuff in my fish tank to help it do better and do the amount they told me the next morning killed my fish was no Happy after all I wanted was a sucker fish and a heater but cuz I had to many fish in my tank got told I couldnt add any more fish and wouldnt sell me one

While punctuality in opening should be a priority, I was able to get the item I wanted, the staff were very friendly and offered help if we needed it.

One of the employees sorrento l spent time helping me find a harness to fit my large fluffy cat who was trying to cling to someone or escape. She was very patient with Bowie and understanding of my budget

Great selection of cat food, treats, and litter. There could be a better selection of cat toys, but the branch in New Hartford has a bigger selection. This is not reflective of the staff or the overall experience, so it is not worth losing any rating. Cant comment on the dog side of things, but given that it spans 3-4 aisles, I have to assume its good.

I went to buy some items at pet supplies plus. I was ignored I understand they have other duties within the store. But your supposed to help customers not just ignore them an continue what work was asked by management. Also not talk you out of buying products from the store. Not to happy about my experience. I come there to get what I need for my pets an for some help if need be. Please do better

The groomer Lilly was so kind and understanding she always calls my dog by his name as we are coming down the isle she took good care of him and made him look amazing you guys are lucky to have her on your team! I went elsewhere for a groom but glad I came back and will continue to come back because of her.

Had such a hard time at Pet Smart so happy a friend suggested Pet Supplies. Excellent service great prices and friendly staff. Dont bother with the rest just head to the best.. thank you for making my grandsons day!!

Actually have to give a bad review. Was in the store yesterday to look at some fish. The young girl was more worried about cleaning the ferrets cage rather than attend to the customer. Sorry but customers should come first. Thats what keeps them coming back

UPDATE: Called the very next morning and they told me it was a computer glich with online orders and that my delivery will be out today. An hour later my item was delivered (only to wrong house). I had to call again to find where my item was. Hopefully next time they dont mess it up.Original post: Good prices and deals. Great place to shop for pets. The online ordering for delivery sucks though. Thats why I gave 3 stars. I order dog good to be delivered same day and rmail even confirms same day delivery. Its an hr and half after closing and still my order never came. Very upset about not getting my order when they said they would deliver. Makes me not want to order again.

I brought my dog in to get her nails trimmed. Lily was the sweetest ever. My dog was a wiggle butt and she took care of her. She was the best. I will definitely book with her again.

Great place to find all animal supplies! The staff could of been more friend and courteous as well as helping customers find the animals they were looking for. The facility is very nice and clean and honor military discount for those who are serving and are retired! Next time I am looking for fish Ill just use a net on Oneida Lake 💯

My dog Daisy and I love this store. Helpful staff with great customer service. Daisy thoroughly enjoys the walk in bath area and I like being able to give her a bath myself. She loves picking out her present afterwards from the hundreds of possibilities.

I LOVE shopping here. The store is always clean, employees have been nothing short of friendly and helpful. My dog has also been beautifully groomed here as well ! Caged animals/fish are also very well maintained, clean habitats. I also get to donate canned food/toys that they offer at the register to animals in need, i never hesitate to donate more than 1 of everything lol!

Not a huge selection of aquarium fish and plants, but what they do have is nice! The staff is friendly, helpful, and if they are not sure of the answer they will find another associate that may know. I will return.

Yesterday morning was my first time at this location... I normally dont get to Rome and I usually go to the New Hartford store.... not sure why there are negative reviews for this location as the two female employees working there were both friendly and helpful. The lady working in the aisle even offered to contact the New Hartford store to see if they had the type of canned dog food I was looking for..the store it self was clean, well lit and well stocked. I will be going back to this location... the next time I am in Rome NY.

I love the convenience of this location. Wish they were better stocked with frozen blood worms. Sometimes you have to wait a month. Or go elsewhere. But the price is worth it. But probably why they run out so often.

They raised the price on everything just a little. But the store is always clean. The people that work there are very friendly. I buy litter, cat food and treats.I buy in bulk and that saves money. I love all the people there they help me get what i need for the outside cats. Also the inside cats. I just have one wish as I dont go to my online often. I love this place. I think they might be a little pricey for certain things but you get what you pay for, for sure. The staff is always so helpful and nice. The store is always clean too.

Love this store and so greatful that we have it in Rome, NY. We buy our cat her food there and she is known to have a very sensitive stomach. Her one brand that she does great with is the Purina Pro Plan wet food. Lately the shelves have been practically empty. Is there a reason for this. Why hasnt the store received shipments? Or are they discontinuing this brand?

I go to this Rome Store a lot and it is always very very clean, no smell of animals and the staff are extremely helpful. You dont have to look around for someone to help you, there is always a few employees walking around asking if they can assist you. They match prices too so this really helps. Great Job Rome Store!!!

We brought our fur baby to get her nails done and the staff were super friendly about it. The store was clean and we had no problem finding the things we were looking for. Our pup knows it as the toy store 😂.

There live fish are always slim pickings and chemicals are never in stock. With that and selection limited Ide rather just take the 20 minute drive to another store

Great selection of foods, treats and toys for both my dog and cats! Always friendly staff willing to help. I never been in there when they havent offered help find or carry something! I prefer this smaller, local pet store to the big box stores! Comparable prices and they often run good saving on common products, so I stock up! Highly recommend!

This is one of the worst locations. The employees stand around talking and you have to interrupt them if you want help. I called ahead to see if they had what I needed. After about 5 mins, the employee came back and said they had the item in stock. When I got there, a group of costumers was growing near the tanks as well as the registers and when an employee was finally flagged down, they didn’t have the item at all. No apologies, just attitude.Response to response from owner: One of my complaints was the difficulty getting help from an employee at the store and your response is for me to try and get help from someone at that store. Just checking. Address my concern by properly training staff in halfway decent customer service. To start with.

Staff always helpful and willing to go the extra mile to help. Now no store is perfect but this far they have always done well by me. So the occasional error with signs can be overlooked. Although, if it is clearly not a customer moving an item and a stocking issue I will insist on it being honoured. Pleasantries go a long way in customer satisfaction. That is just my opinion. All in all this is a 5 star store!

They could have a little more friendly,helpful employees. I washed my dog in theyre bath area and they werent that helpful and the water was cold and the blow dryer blew cold air. So overall an average experience to an average store.

Vast variety of foods and other pet supplies. The best part was the extremely knowledgeable young lady who helped me. She was not at all pushy, allowing me to feel quite comfortable in my queries.

I couldnt find a special blend of seed for my very picky cockatiel. I explained to Pet Supplies Plus store associate and she didnt have it in stock,but could make a similar blend. She went above and beyond of her job description! My cockatiel,Chippy,loves the new blend. Its healthier than what I was giving him. Decent price and very friendly staff!

Pet Supplies Plus in Rome or Utica NY always has the friendliest most helpful staff. They always have a great deals and everything my pets need including the cutest cookies and treats in the front. Pet Supplies Plus makes you feel like your pets are family.

Placed order online for curbside pickup. Received email to let me know my items were ready. Drove down, called from my car and within 5 minutes someone came out with my items! Great service and great staff!!

I brought my dogs here for a bath and one dog was fine no issues but my other dog on the other hand came out with a tint of yellow stain all over his back end and legs. The groomer handed me both their leashes and didn’t make one comment about it and you could clearly see it. I was very disappointed and will never be bringing my pets back here to be groomed.

Crew members are amazing and very helpful. They may not always have what m looking for but thats not their fault because of shipping issues. The always reconcile for it

I had a good experience here . Alot of customers bring their pets in to shop. Which is fine. I was disappointed my kittens treats were not available , they seem to be out at all stores, Walmart , Price Chopper, PSP....bit I purchased their dry food and litter with 20% off coupon. I was happy about that !

Sorry, but I feel that I have to change my 5-star review. Pet Supplies in Rome were more cooperative and helpful about curbside pick-up than anyplace else I shop. Until suddenly they werent. I am still ordering online because having someone pick up my order and having it pre-paid means less time in the store for me but I am going inside to pick up my order now because twice in a row nobody ever brought my order out.

Overpriced dog food caw caw! Also the employees will follow you around like your a serial killer.

Korrine in grooming did a fantastic job with our pomeranian Lilys first groom and made her look like a perfect little teddy bear! We will definitely be back to see her!

This place doesn’t take care of the animals enclosures. They are always disgusting and way too over cramped with animals. This place is selling ferrets but they haven’t had ferret food in months. I walked in and I saw 3 ferrets in a small cage and they were all sleeping the liter boxes. They didn’t have any hammocks to lay in. They were filthy and I regret buying my own from this place. I will never be buying another pet from here again and honestly not sure if I will be coming back at all since they don’t have product for months at a time.

Always a great experience. Their selection of items we use... refrigerated tubes of Fresh Pet and Blue Buffalo dog food for our only-nine-teetth left 7lb chijuajua Pete, cat litter and other miscellaneous pet supplies have always met our needs. Very clean store, and ve4y nice folks to help us and check us out.

I previously rated the Rome location a one star. Im changing it to 4 stars because I have seen changes in the store that deserve a higher rating. And one employee in particular that goes above and beyond. Her name is Kira and this store wouldnt be the same without her!

Honestly, its a pretty great store. It has some products that the PetSmart in New Hartford doesnt have. (Keep in mind this establishment is small, so thus the inventory is small, too.) Such as LED light bulbs for florescent light hoods, certain types of dog food brands, self-service grooming, small amount additional aquarium equipment and of course who could ignore the occasional Dollar per Gallon deal for tanks? Its really not a bad store, just got to keep in mind about the kind of traffic the store attracts and that its small. Ive been able to discuss a thing or two about animals with the staff and find them to be knowledgeable.Now I should get to why I gave a 4 star. Obviously its not the store itself, but its usually the kinds of customers that come in and one thing that this store had no control over but it will affect your shopping experience: changed policy on price-matching. Yes, price-matching isnt as easy or money-saving as it used to be, all thanks to the all-knowing corporate. Now instead of just matching the price with proof of the same item youre going to buy, you now have to factor in shipping cost. I was about to purchase an item that was worth $12 on the shelf, but I didnt have enough for $12. So I went online to find it cheaper and I have found it for $9. Went to the cashier and they had to tell me that unfortunately they need to factor in the shipping cost, which on the website I was using made the item worth more than $50. Of course, I had to put the item back because in no case was I able to purchase this. Its not the fault of the store, employees or the location of the establishment: its the fault of corporate. Corporate thinks they knew best for making money for the store, but this policy for price-matching exaggerates the price of the items. Now from a retail angle: you shouldnt have to pay shipping, because the item already shipped to the store in receiving. This is a retailer store front: not the warehouse.Some items can be cheaper on the shelf compared to other places, but this price-matching disaster is only going to destroy Pet Supplies Plus chances of making it out there with their online shopping. All the good things I said cannot make up for this, because this makes the business lose its customers. I just hope the practice of this policy ceases before its too late.

Absolutely sick to my stomach! Took my 3 little dogs there today, they look awful!! Totally missed cutting nails in a paw, hair way short and uneven. Looks like a child cut them. I am so upset for my babies! A very expensive lesson. I really dont know if they are using experienced groomers. And my one dog has 2 cuts on his leg.

This is the closest pet store that I regularly use to pick up cat and fish supplies. The workers never really seem to know much when I need help with the fish, and have trouble finding the prices for certain things in the tank. Its also taken a while to get help in the fish section on most occasions, up to 10 minutes after me asking two people. They also dont have the biggest selection, and are more overpriced than some of the same items at walmart (such as the IAms kitten food, about 3$ cheaper at Walmart).

Inventory was low on cat food, but that isnt the stores fault. Store was clean, employee was friendly. This was the first time I had been in this store in Rome. I really like going to Pet Supply Plus. Will continue to shop there.

Love this pet store had everything I needed and a large variety of dog stuff (cat also). N they offer grooming dog washing and Vet services for a lesser charge. My new pup will definitely be getting micro chipped here.

There is always 1 or 2 dead fish in their aquariums. The few times Ive bought fish here they ended up spreading diseases to my other fish. The employees are clearly just working for that minimum wage and couldnt care less about the animals or customer service. Pet Smart is a much better pet store and is worth the longer drive to New Hartford.

We are local to the new hartford store(which we use mainly) but when we go to the Rome area, we always make it a point to stop at their pet supplies plus! They have pretty much everything you need for your pets! Go check them out!

Wide variety, some decent sales and extremely helpful, nice employees. Only downside is their prices; if you want your pet to eat reasonably itll cost you an arm and a leg. They over-charge for everything.

I go here to have my dogs groomed. Nichole is the only one I have take care of my pups. If you arent satisfied with anything let them know and they will do anything they can to make it right.

We had our pup groomed and nails trimmed for the first time, the girl we had scheduled with called in, but our groomer took good care of our fur baby, he cried and carried on, but she was awesome with him, she was over loaded and over worked but still did a great job! I would go back again to have Magnum groomed again..

This store was filthy I do not meanUnkempt I mean it was deplorable. Over by the reptiles. Dirty just had not not been swept ina long time.it looked like maybe all that was do e was the dirt washed up as close to base as the could get it. And where the crickets were bagged even the pinkies,fuzzy, were just thrown in there was no organization just mixed up it the cooler. Someone shows no pride in the store they manage and the people that work there like to stand around talking qhen the should be cleaning. Under the cash registers was just a mess of messes trash over flowing into the floor. Some one from a corporate office needs to make a pop in visit and see the lazy people that are working there.will never go back i to this disgusting place .

This store is awful. The aquatic plants are kept in blue light glow fish tanks lately so they die off so quickly in the store. Most of their tanks are covered in dead snails. Dead fish are usually everywhere. The heat lamps they use on the reptiles dry out every tank so the reptiles are always soaking and dehydrated and never shed right. Do yourself a favor and dont support the poor knowledge and care that the employees seem to give to these animals. Go find a proper breeder who knows what theyre doing.

The employees are nice but there arent many pet products for exotic animals and employees follow you around the store like youre going to steal something...

Staff is always friendly and helpful. We also get our VERY large dog groomed here and they are great to him and do a great job.

Sept 23, 2020. I bought 2 betas for me n wife in matching tanks that are half moon and go back to back. I get home and ones broke, so I hurry 45 minutes back to the store before they close but power went out in the plaza. No worries Ill just grab a burger and come right back the power will be on. I got my burger and came back in less than ten minutes. Power was on . Several cars were waiting for store to reopen but the young ladies must have had a hit date cause they were gone. Me and several cars waited an hr before we realized they ditched us n closed ty for no service.

Jill and her co- worker were most helpful with finding a specific product! Very kind and professional!

From leashes to dog cookies, this place has everything you need for your pet. They allow pets in store. I loved that

I went to Pet Supplies Plus for a Critter Trail Habitat the selection ranged from a $32.00 starter Habitat to a deluxe that was $89.00 with a good assessment of extra parts to connect Habitats together.

Take care of your animals. You allow the guinea pigs to fight and get marked up. You allow the ferrets to eat each others ears off. You leave the dead animals in the cages such as snakes and birds. If you can’t take care of the animals properly, do not sell them. Do not buy your next pet from this place. I’ve seen sick guinea pigs and hamsters with goo coming from their eyes and nose. Think again before buying from here. I’d give 0 star if possible

Huge variety of pet food, treats and accessories.The self wash service was invaluable after my dog got skunked (although I now read a combo of tooth paste and baking soda dry rub is better than immediate washing)Also had a good selection of aquarium fish and hamsters.Helpful staff and plentiful parking. There are some great deals just be sure to join their loyalty card scheme.

Do NOT take your dog for grooming. Most catastrophic cut ever. I guess main groomer out on leave. Cannot even describe. Miniature schnauzer is supposed to have a beard. Face shaved clean. Barely touched the body . Didnt ask us to pay. But it will take a long time to grow the face back out. Sick to my stomach!

I was greeted as soon as I walk in and asked if i needed any help. When I thought the item I needed was out of stock an associate showed me where they kept over stock. I was able to purchase what I needed. I will definitely recommend this store.

Pet Supplies Plus is located in Freedom plaza downtown Rome, NY. Currently Romes newest pet shop. Along with a vast amount of pet supplies youll also find a good variety of pets for sale as well as grooming for your pets. The service is fast and most of the staff are pretty knowledgeable when answering questions about animals and their care.

The staff is very friendly and accommodating. I always find just what I need and am in and out with no hassle.

I had issues with check out, on 4/29/22. Not giving me full value for manufactures coupons. I went back inside and the worker reentered the purchase and credited me for the coupons but the discount for the dog food (25%)wasn’t on there and the credit for being a member went from $17 to $10.I hope the issues were addressed after I left with the original cashier.

I only visit the cat supplies section but they carry quite a few items that I can no longer find at other stores. They are reasonably priced (cheaper than Chewy) and my go to when I need products immediately!

Absolutely horrible. We’ve gotten 2 hamsters from here and they both died shortly after. They were ill and we didn’t notice bc we thought they were just sleeping bc hamsters do sleep a lot but then we find out our Syrian hamster had wet tail and our robo dwarf hamster just died in his sleep and nothing in his diet or cage was changed too drastically. The dwarf hamster we owned for about 2 months but he slept more and more throughout the time Ive had him and he was eating fine but his heart beat started to slow down the day before his last and we just thought it was him having a bad dream or something bc I’ve read that that can happen so I just thought it was that. He was perfectly fine until then or so it seemed. But when we first got him his heart rate was slow and again we thought it was just a bad dream but it wasn’t, clearly. Something was wrong with him and we still have no idea what is could’ve been besides a medical problem from before we had him. As for the Syrian, he died his 2nd day we had him. When he was in the store the girl giving us the hamster said “oh he’s just sleeping” and another employee said “he looks sick, maybe we should have him looked at.” And she just said he was fine and gave us him but when we got home he was very weak, very thin, you could feel every bone in his poor little body and he wouldn’t eat or drink. And when he pasted we were told to bring in his body to make sure it was “true” which is absolutely ridiculous. What did they even do with his body? Just throw it out, bc the girl that we brought him too was completely grossed out and just moved him aside. We went to pet smart a few days after the Syrian passed and got a different hamster and he’s doing great, very active, he eats and drinks, he isn’t thin at all, and he DOESNT HAVE WET TAIL!!! I’m completely disgusted with this whole pet store and will most certainly will not be returning there for anything!

Great customer service! I had a lovely talk with the cashier when trying to find a leash to allow my cat to run tethered in the backyard.

Service was good but the self service dog wash I was not amused with an neither was my dog, straight child water for the dog wash,my dog was freezing by time we were done.. Most likely wont be using self service dog wash again..

Ran in quick for some mealworms for our leopard gecko at home. Got home and most of them were already dead

They have what I need but their prices are super high. I end up stopping in regularly since its on my way home but look forward to switching jobs and hopefully going to a different store.

The prices are high but the place is clean, staff is kind and helpful, and they literally have everything you might possibly need for your pet.

I recently had an issue with ick disease and some of their fish, the owner replied so I called the store and they did keep up to their word on fixing the issue that I had, so although I had a bad experience for the second time they did make good on their end thank you to the team and owner for the courtesy of correcting the issue

This place is horrible. I do not recommend, the animals are dead in the cages! If you can’t take proper care of them DONT let people come and buy them! It’s not okay and I am very dissapointed. If I could give 0 stars I would. This is just upsetting.

This store carries alotnof different pet supplies. I bought 2 guinea pigs and all they needed there. Reasonable prices, but I hear you can get some of the stuff elsewhere for cheaper. I will go back there.

This place should not be grooming dogs! My little 3 pound teacup yorkie was injured on the head causing his head to bleed. The groomer tied his long hair over this horrible laceration with a bow so this could not be seen. My dog was taken to urgent care as a result. The policy of the store is to inform the owner right away. I was there as always and nothing was said. Total medical neglect! I can understand that accidents happen but the owner needs to be informed. I have no trust with a company that allows this to go on. I will not return or shop in this store again. I always had an appointment ahead of time on a regular basis and many times would arrive with other dogs being booked as walk-in’s at the same time. This last time only 2 groomers. One was a trainee and the other grooming my dog is suppose to be a coach who is still there. Several dogs booked @ 5:00 pm with the store closing @ 6:00 pm. The store is poorly managed and show no consideration towards pets and their owners. I would NOT recommend taking yours pets. There are many other places to choose from. NY state needs the bill passed for all groomers to be licensed so they are held accountable for their actions. Please note that their responses on here are general acting like they want feedback to improve.
