My husband and I want to thank the whole team at Shabby Tabby. They made our whole adoption process so simple and comfortable. The staff are just amazing people. Ryan, the owner, is worth pointing out. She has been extremely approachable pre and post adoption. Things got a little shaky after the adoption of our cat, but Ryan checked in on us consistently to make sure we and our cat were ok.You guys are incredible for what you do for these cats.Thank you again Shabby Tabby team !

This place is wonderful. Its such a great alternative to cats in tiny cages at a crowded shelter. All of the cats here get to live in a home like setting and lounge out on fun cat furniture. If you are coming to visit, a drink (coffee, tea, hot chocolate, lemonade) is included with your visit. There are plenty of cat toys to get the kitties interested in playing. If you cant have a cat at home, you can definitely get your kitty fix here. If you are looking to bring home a new family member, they have plenty to choose from. There is also a cute shop in the front where you can buy cat themed merchandise.

Went here for the first time tonight with my boyfriend, didn’t mind spending the $15/person knowing it goes towards helping these kitties with all the supplies they need. This place rescues all their cats from unfortunate situations and have them available for adoption rather than being sent to a shelter/kill shelter. Some cats were very stand offish due to the circumstances that they came from. Totally expected. But some were also so friendly and just wanted to play and cuddle up. These are cats that were neglected and don’t understand how to accept human affection, YET. so you should expect that when you visit. 10/10 recommend. What these people do is amazing and I wish there were more places like this to help animals find there FURever homes

What a wonderful place full of sweet kitties, good iced tea, and friendly, caring staff. These kitties are so well cared for and looking for fur-ever homes. You can easily book time online to spend an hour playing, petting, and snuggling the cats. And when youre done, they have a cute shop in front. I highly recommend going!

Before visiting I wasnt sure if $15 was going to be worth it. The answer is yes! We made a reservation, which was easy to do and filled out the waivers on-line. When we entered, we were offered a beverage, and then let into the cat area. Its a bit overwhelming at first. Lots of people, lots of cats, and some cat smell (not overwhelming, but my friend commented on it). I immediately sat on the bench next to the tortie. Before I realized it, she crawled into my lap and didnt leave for 30 minutes.I was visiting LI and away from my fur babies, the Cat Cafe was the boost I needed. I will visit again in the future.Update October 2022I came back to LI to say goodbye to a loved one.The Shabby Tabby had been a soothing balm for my sisters and me. Little secret-if you go at 11am on weekdays (avoid holidays and school days off), you will have the place almost entirely to yourself. The other day, the kitties were getting breakfast when we got there.

We love ShabbyTabby. We have been here a few times and this past February adopted our sweet girl Pepper from here. All the staff was incredibly kind, and the cats were super friendly. Considering what some of these cats have been through - it’s truly amazing to see their resilience when given the opportunity for another chance. My family and I are very grateful to the cafe for giving us the chance to fall in love with another kitty after losing our 13 year old boy to Cancer last year. It took us a year to be ready for another furry friend - but when we were ready - we were determined to pick the “best” one from ShabbyTabby. It turned out that our pretty girl ended up picking us! My 6 year old fell in love with her and that was that! A few days later she was making herself Queen of the house. After a few weeks of her getting used to her new home she really became one of the family. We love our little Pepper 🌶 and cannot thank you guys enough for all you do!

This review is looong overdue, and very well deserved! My family has been coming to The Shabby Tabby for years. It’s one of our favorite places! The Shabby Tabby is both a great spot to visit if you simply love cats and want to hang out with them, or if you are looking to adopt a cat of your very own. We had been frequent visitors, before we were ever looking to adopt. And then we adopted a cat from The Shabby Tabby a few years ago, who is the sweetest boy on earth.Aspects we ADORE about The Shabby Tabby: 1) Their welcoming and warm approach. My family always feels invited when we visit. They welcome children with open arms (which I appreciate greatly) and understand that children bring a different level of energy than adults do (just like kittens, haha.)2) Their price point is very fair. And sometimes the owner/manager will let you stay a little longer if they aren’t crowded.3) The cat-themed gift shop at the entrance is to die for! Who doesn’t love kitty ears?4) All of the cats! They’re everywhere and it’s just wonderful. The layout in the cafe makes it easy to view/interact with many cats at the same time.Pro Tip: If you’re looking for a quieter, less crowded interaction, where you can have all of the cats to yourself, visit on a weekday morning, when most people are at work/school. Thank me later! ;)We LOVE The Shabby Tabby and you will too! Just go!

Ryan, the owner, has a big heart and it really showed in every inch of the space. The cats that are there right now (9/29/18) are super friendly and love gentle petting. Ryan also brought along her 5 week old foster kittens which were adorable!! Please be careful with kittens that small as they are delicate and sanitize before and after! There are two Keurig coffee machines to self serve your own cup while youre there and prepackaged goodies to munch on for purchase. Tea available as well. Also, there is a bunch of Shabby Tabby and other merchandise for sale like collars, accessories, mugs, and cat wine!I will be back monthly for sure 😻

Ryan (the owner) truly has a heart of gold. Each kitty is so loved and well taken care of here and it is clear that she puts everything she has into this business. The atmosphere is clean, comfortable, and the cats seem so at ease, despite coming from heartbreaking situations. There are so many fun events to go to that directly benefit the kitties. Yoga is a favorite for myself, my sister, and mom. Everyone who works here treats customers with so much kindness (even customers who are being rude/careless).There is nothing bad to say about this business. I wish I could give 10 stars as they truly deserve it. Thank you for all that you do.

The Shabby Tabby is such a wonderful place! The staff are so friendly and kind and care so much for every cat! We love the instagram posts that they make about the cats. They tell stories of how they found their rescues and what their personalities are like. I love spending time with the cats. I paid for 1 hour and ended up extending it to 2 hours and loving every minute petting so many cats and having one named Meatball sit on my lap for about an hour. We found a cat that I loved and we filled out an adoption form and we were able to adopt him after some time passed. We are so happy with our new kitty! He is the best boy and his personality is exactly as they described it! He’s made our lives so much better! These 3 pics are only a fraction of what we’ve taken so far! He is sooo adorable!!

My son and I visited the Shabby Tabby numerous times since they opened. We have gone to multiple paint nights to paint a cat, and to paint a pumpkin night. The cats are well taken care of, the staff is so nice and the merchandise is on point. My son has a t shirt, I have a travel coffee mug and I recently purchased a pride hoodie that came with a bumper sticker that I proudly put on my car. I only got to wear my hoodie a few times since it was spring, but each time someone commented I love the Shabby Tabby! It truly is an amazing place that changes the lives of these kitties, and anyone that says otherwise is obviously full of cat poop.

Went in with my two friends as walk-ins, were greeted with a nice employee and it was such a cute place. my friend and i are mildly allergic to cats so we took a benadryl before going, and since the place was clean it was of no trouble to us! no strong scents, was tidy and the cats used a separate room to do their business, so nothing was overwhelming, contrary to shelters and what youd expect smell-wise! the cats were super cute and a couple just hopped onto my lap as soon as i sat down. lovely way to spend an hour, 15$ was somewhat reasonable considering the unlimited drinks. a few of the cats tussled with each other a couple times but other than that they were angels. it was pure serotonin tbh, definitely recommend at least once!

This is such a special and important place. It is and forever will remain close to my heart. I donated often when the pandemic first started, and continue to buy things off of their amazon wishlist to send to the cats. The cats are rescued from kill shelters, and are given a chance too live outside of cages in what felt like, a very loving environment thanks to the owner, volunteers and guests who play with the cats.My brother, knowing that I LOVED cats but could not own any in my previous apartment, told me about the cafe. It sounded like a great place for cat lovers like me to go and hang out with cats...really all I wanted to do.My fiancé and I finally bought our own house a few months ago. As soon as we closed, I started looking for potential kitties to fill our new home with. I saw two sisters up for adoption who were newly added to the website. I called, made an hour appointment, and let them know that I was interested in the sisters. As soon as I arrived, I was treated by the wonderful staff who were excited about me potentially adopting the sisters. My fiancé and I picked up the girls and held each of them...WE WERE IN LOVE!! I made arrangements with the owner and the golden paw society to pick them up on that Friday. Everyone who worked/volunteered there expressed how happy they were that we were taking them, and how much they adored getting to know them. We showed up on Friday with a cat carrier, they took our picture with the girls, and left to start our new journey as a family together!I made a vet appointment to make sure they were ok very soon after. They both had a clean bill of health! They are also very loving, love pets and dont mind being picked up...I attribute this to the socialized environment of the Shabby Tabby.I am a member of their Facebook group Shabby Tabby Graduates, and post pictures of the girls often. The owner and volunteers always comment about how big they are getting...its so nice! They also do bingo, raffles, host parties, and are selling masks that they hand made themselves! They really go above and beyond. In conclusion, the Shabby Tabby is a special and important place. The people there TRULY care deeply for the cats. I continue to recommend them to anyone who is looking to adopt a cat! (Or 2 or 3)!

Very cute and clean place. Really don’t understand the bad reviews regarding the cats not being friendly or sleeping. Cats sleep it’s normal they are there in order to be potentially adopted not for your entertainment. Anyone that knows about cats knows they take time to warm up to anyone so even though some will be friendly others might not be and that’s okay. They charge $15 per person which included a drink, for the people who complain about that as well need to understand that they have overhead and need to provide food, medical care amongst so many other things. Either way me and my boyfriend had a great time despite him not liking cats he enjoyed himself and we will definitely be back 💕

What a wonderful place to visit whether youre looking to adopt or just love hanging with the kitties. Ryan and Melanie are angels who literally create a safe, warm and comforting home to cats who would otherwise wither away in a shelter, forgotten and unloved. They have a special affinity for senior cats and work tirelessly to find forever homes so they can spend their last chapter with a loving family. No cat is left uncared for here, even the challenging cases wind up learning to love and be loved, thanks to the staffs dedication, time and patience. Your admission price includes a lovely hot or cold beverage and the hour you spend interacting with the felines will fly by because you will have such a great experience. We travel from Queens every few months to visit and never leave without stopping at the fun displays of cat-themed items available for purchase. You can even sponsor a cat with a modest donation to help defray cost of their care. Exciting recent news is that the owners will be launching their very own cat rescue in 2024 so this is a HUGE bonus for homeless cats in the community. Wish there were more of these caring, wonderful places in every town!

I’m happy that she was adopted and the employees here are all trying to find these cats new homes. I also understand how most of the cats here were abandoned or abused by their owners, like Cupid. A great place to relax, hangout and maybe find your next furry best friend. Ive visited many times and always have a pleasant experience. The staff really cares for these cats and you can tell they have so much love in what they do. Everyone is super friendly and knowledgeable about the animals even with so many different cats coming in and out as they find homes. These people are so wonderful that I dont have the right words to express how really awesome they are to the customers and cats. It never smells like there are 30+ cats there and they clean regularly, sweeping up excess cat hair. Also the Pink Lemonade is delicious! If youre shying away because you dont want to adopt, thats okay, visiting helps the cats to socialize and the low price of admission helps keep the cafe running. They dont pressure you to adopt! And even better, if you do want to adopt then they will guide you. They know the personalities and have helped match many cats to forever homes. I applied to adopt and the cat sat in front of me as I filled out the forms. He went from living on the street to happily purring on our couch thanks to The Shabby Tabby! Can’t wait to see the owners awesome response to my review. After reading other customers reviews it seems as though they can’t take any sort of criticism. With that being said I went there with my son because he loves cats. The place had so many people inside a small room, it’s $15 per person for an hour and we essentially paid $30 +tax to see sleeping cats and the ones that were awake didn’t want you touching them or any sort of interaction. We left after 20 minutes of pretty much just walking in circles for nothing. There definitely should be some sort of limit on the amount of people in the room. Probably also shouldn’t have cats that don’t like human interaction. I have no issue with paying money because I understand businesses have bills to pay, but this was a Complete waste of money!

I’ve adopted my first cat from shabby and I’ve never been more happy with mango/hazel. The staff make sure you’re comfortable upon entering and their merchandise is amazing. I would seriously consider coming to this cafe for just coffee and engaging with cats.

We love Shabby Tabby. We first came across them last year when my son was interested in getting a cat but had no true exposure. We took him to see how he would do and that where we met the cat who would join our family a week later. My son loves coming here and hanging out with all the cats, plus this place does amazing work rescuing cats that would otherwise be killed. It’s a great place and great concept to help save innocent animals.

I had a wonderful experience my first time at Shabby Tabby. I went there to see the new babies that were up for adoption. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and very responsive. They answered any questions I had with no hesitation. The atmosphere was inviting, calm and clean. I didnt feel rushed or pushed to make a decision.I wound up falling in love and filled out adoption papers right there. The process was seamless. I have been to the Shabby Tabby twice BUT my family has visited more and adopted an AMAZING, stealthy, kind, smart, and gentle 9 year old tuxedo cat named Zach from the cafe this Spring!I love the Shabby Tabby’s Mission through their connection with The Golden Paw Society. And I love their values and support of social issues as well!! They (the cats and humans) always made me feel welcome and it is such a nice place to make you feel better/ have a nice time... but also to give cats some love and maybe even adopt one (or more!).

Great name for this place because the customer service is shabby. Me and my boyfriend traveled from Babylon Village to this cafe. We were so excited to see the Cats. As soon as we walked in no one greeted us, we were ignored & the other staff treated us with such rudeness. I’m standing around looking at the merchandise and still no one asks me if we need help. I was there to also buy gifts for two people. So I ask the front desk lady about how things work at the cafe and she seemed annoyed at everything I asked, We felt awkward & like the rest of the staff was stand off-ish. The customers in front of us were being helped by 3 staff members and they immediately were offered a time slot with cats. Not a good vibe here at all. Would give 0 stars.I’m not looking to receive anything for free, I had a bad experience here. I do not wish to come back nor email.

More fun than expected! The staff was very friendly and you can see they enjoyed talking to people there. It was cool to see that the cats were from shelters. If you looking for a cat or just looking to hang out it’s worth it. You get to interact with the cat instead of being put in a small closed room or see them in cages. You learn about their personalities. Would definitely go again!

As a repeat visitor, it’s been great to see the cats who are coming out of awful situations get the care they need and deserve, while waiting for safe homes.I see some reviews of people being mad that the cats need medicine or look like they have problems. If you talk to the staff, you’ll often get the back story, sometimes very sad stories, about where they’ve been found & rescued from. I recommend going back for follow up visits to see the cats improvement.Visiting Shabby Tabby also proved to be a great way for us to adopt a cat. Seeing how she was around other cats, out in the open, allowed us to pick the cat that would fit in at our home.

Today was my first time visiting. I like the concept and the staff was very nice and they obviously really care about the cats. My main complaint is there is no separation between food/drinks and the cats living space. It just seemed unsanitary to me. I did see that they are moving locations and will have the separation then. I am interested to see how the new space turns out. My son did get scratched by one of the cats and we were warned to be cautious of him; however, in my opinion I think that only very friendly cats should be exposed to people and maybe there could be a separate area for the more unpredictable ones.

This place is wonderful, i met a sweet cat here last winter when i attended a shelter building event and sent photos of him to a family member and she adopted him the next day! The employees are great and knowledgeable and honestly the negative reviews that mention the other cat place in selden look like they’re purposefully negative to draw business to the other place. I stand behind the shabby tabby and their mission. The cats are great and affectionate and the ones that aren’t wear little red collars alerting you that they may get over stimulated. As for the kitten pairing complaints the shabby tabby posts photos of majority of their adoptable cats online and they do specify which ones they’d like to keep paired. The staff here are doing something great and you can tell they care.

They have red collars on the ones that may be a bit aggressive so definitely watch out for that but most of them are extremely friendly. Staff did not wear masks despite the ongoing pandemic and masks being made available at the door for patrons. A majority of the cats available do not appear to be healthy, and should not be adoptable/interacting with other cats. Many had weepy/crusty eyes, runny noses, messy/unhealthy coats, and at least one had a sore on its paw pad. I do not like to write negative reviews, particularly for small businesses, but I found the condition of these animals and the blatant disregard for visitor health and wellbeing to be unacceptable. The store is visually very nice, and the staff was friendly enough, but I encourage everyone to find a cat at a local shelter or different cat cafe, where the cats’ medical needs are tended to prior to adoption/interaction. I hope this business will improve, as it is a fun concept that I would love to see thrive, but as is, it is just not good.

They have so many cats here different colors and breeds, kittens and adults and it’s so fun to play with them all they were all nice and friendly and playful except for one that didn’t want to be pet. The Shabby Tabby Cafe is the best place any cat could hope to land before finding a forever home. I’ve personally been to this location and have nothing but positive things to say about it. The owner, Ryan, is extremely hands on, as well as all the staff and volunteers. They all take pride in keeping the environment clean, fun, positive, and making it a great home for the cats. They are partnered with The Golden Paw Society who rescues cats from kill shelters. They give cats a second chance and new lease on life that they wouldn’t have had otherwise. Many people want tiny brand new kittens, but The Shabby Tabby knows every cats life is valuable and they take the senior cats too and cats who may have issues, which they are very honest about. Every cat is absolutely taken care of and if any medical issues arise they will get the cat the proper care it needs before letting it be around other cats and being adopted out. Getting to see the cats in an environment where they are free to roam around and be around other cats is actually a better way to see the cats personality than locked up in a cage in a shelter. Also, if you adopt an older cat you can already have a feel for that cats personality compared to a kitten. Some of these cats were abused or abandoned and were set to be euthanized prior to being rescued and they may not look as cute as a brand new kitten, but any true animal lover and someone who is experienced with cats would understand that and accept that. Just because a cat doesn’t look as pretty or handsome as you would like does not mean it does not deserve to be loved and won’t give you unconditional love. All these cats are very well kept and they get cute collars and bow ties and the royal treatment there. Not only is The Shabby Tabby a wonderful concept to adopt out cats that wouldn’t have had another chance otherwise, they are also a very fun and unique place that you can go to for game nights, paint nights, bingo, and build your own outdoor cat shelter for stray cats in the winter. The owner puts all her money, heart and soul into this place, and is absolutely selfless. This is a great place to come visit to just spend some time with the cats, do a fun activity, and perhaps find your next family pet. I know the next time I want to adopt a cat I am going straight to The Shabby Tabby. If you haven’t already visited there, please consider doing so, you won’t regret it. You can like and follow them on Facebook for the most adorable up to date photos and information on their cats and events, and also donate to their amazon wishlist. It takes a lot to run an amazing place like this and those cats and owner can use the help of donations so they can continue doing the good hearted work they are doing. I’ve only been there once and plan to go again soon, and I always enjoy seeing all the funny, well written Facebook updates. This place is a must go and see for your self one of a kind experience! Thank you to The Shabby Tabby and The Golden Paw Society for all of the amazing work you do, and keep up the good and hard work!

If I could rate this place 0 stars I would but unfortunately thats not an option. We went in on a whim passing by and was charged $20 to see the cats for 30 minutes.... Thats insanely expensive when kitten kaboodle offers $5 for the entire day with much friendlier cats. I had a very bad vibe about this place but my fiance was adamant about seeing the cats so we did. Anyways, my fiance fell in love with a kitten and signed am application to adopt. Little background... My fiance has owned and taken care of kittens for years. She has been a great caretaker and 100% loving of cats and kittens. Our apartment is a huge beautiful 3 bedroom thats immaculately clean and more then spacious enough for multiple cats. Yet... She was denied.... Reason? Because the day we were there the kitten she wanted was spotted playing with another kitten for about ten minutes. So she was told shes being denied because they want someone to adopt both kittens since they played...for ten minutes. Is this not the most predatory tactic you ever heard to attempt to con a woman who fell in love with a kitten into adopting 2? Avoid this place like the plague...the cats arent friendly, the staff is interested in moving cats by volume and not how well theyll be loved for...and they charged insane amounts. $15 per person per hour. Check out kitten kaboodle in Selden, they are $5 per person for THE ENTIRE DAY!! We even left and came back hours later...and the cats are much more friendlier and the staff much more loving and compassionate..Edit: To Amanda D who posted nonsense about promoting another similiar place, you sound like youre promoting shabby tabby...whats your point? I am giving my personal experience and it was horrible. You werent denied because the kitten you wanted played with another... did you? Exactly. Also, we made our intent known about the kitten we wanted and were never told they wanted the kitten adopted in a pair....nor is it on the website.

The only thing i will say is a down fall.... 1 hour each person for $15?! Children for the same price?!... thats ridiculous!Edit: I fixed the admission fee. I still dont agree with the per hour for children. I supervise my kids, even when i dont want to go in because of my allergies acting up that day (or that being the cover story to my kids because we got attached to one, just to find out its bonded to another), i still go on in because for 1, i didnt have a choice to pay for myself as well so i mind as well go in and try not to get attached to any kitties. 2. Occasionally my youngest, needs the supervision of not picking up the kitties while my oldest is distracted by them. Also children dont really do coffee or tea, may be including kid enjoyed drinks could help with that.As for other kitty cafes not allowing children, i havnt had that experience. All ive personally gone to were child friendly.I understand its for a good cause but i think people would be more inclined to stay longer if it were (as an example) $15 for the first hour and $5 for every additional hour.

You weren’t nice so you got a bad review. You even called out my family name, said we have our priorities mixed up, and laughed at us. Then you deleted us from “liking” your page. Neither one of us said anything that made us deserve to be deleted or spoken to like that. Whoever you are you shouldn’t be working in an environment with those precious cats. You don’t deserve to. She said yes and gave me the paperwork. She mentioned nothing about that others have had already put paperwork in. My daughter left the cafe heart broken because she couldn’t take the kitties home that night. Then I didn’t hear a word from either Golden Paws or you. Finally I decide to contact you thru messenger to check what was going on on. You responded that you were going to check with Golden Paw. Then my reference got a call from Golden Paw yesterday, and everything went fine. Now I go on Facebook and see the cats have been adopted by someone else! However, I haven’t heard a word from either you or Golden Paw! This is extremely unprofessional and unacceptable! How am I going to break the news to my daughter who has been asking about the cats for the past week?! She’s going to be devastated!!!

Was not impressed with this place they arent a rescue themselves they have the cats brought in from a rescue so to me it was all about the money not the animals, they give you some small muffins and coffee for $15 to go in for an hour really! Will not go back or advise anyone to either. I always hope the animals get adopted so for that I would never wish bad and hope for the cats they get there forever home.

Be aware its 15 for adults and 10 for kids to sit with them for an hour. Free coffee, purchase snacks (cookies and chips). Cute idea, but I could potentially adopt/visit for free at a shelter. My kids were with me and excited, otherwise I would have left.

Not as much as a cafe as you might expect, there are plenty of cats, and I love that they take all of the profits and use it to benefit the cats.

This place is cat heaven. there are so many cats waiting to be adopted and after my first visit, i adopted my 6 year old sweet heart. i’ve never had a cat before, but ryan and melanie gave me tips and advice. although the shabby tabby has many cats, you would never know because it’s so beyond clean. the owner and staff obviously know what they’re doing. the cats are all well kept, and it seems like they really enjoy the free range of the cafe. their passion for rescuing and getting cats a furever home is apparent. it’s a nice space to relax, get some work done, and get some love from these cats. i highly recommend checking it out and i couldn’t be happier with my cat.

The experience is unique with interaction with several cats that are up for adoption. The cost is $15 per person (get a free coffee), a clean, kid friendly environment. There is info avail on all the cats that are up for adoption. If you are bringing children.....please supervise their interaction with the cats.

Shabby Tabby is a rare gem of a business with people who care about their cause, and feline friends to boot! Back in 2019, my boyfriend and I adopted our first cat from the Shabby Tabby location in Huntington, where our kitty fell asleep on us, and we had to force her to get off of us when we had to leave. Because of this wonderful place, we found our sweet Cirilla. My boyfriend and I also helped a bonded pair of cats be adopted by marrying them! (Yes, you read that right!) The Shabby Tabby is a fun and wonderful place, and I always look forward to visiting them and supporting them in any way I can.

Place is very professional and friendly. They arent going to judge you or yell at you if a cat happens to scratch or nibble, thats just how animals are (as long as you didnt provoke!) They even have bandaids and ointment available for the inevitable! The cats are all chosen for their ability to be comfortable or social, and they do wonderful work taking care of cats who may be missing eyes or otherwise. Drinks are actually pretty good, theres a ton of toys to use you do *not* have to pay for, and you can use the tables for games or work. You can buy treats if you would like to for the cats. There are young and old cats and the place is clearly friendly towards minorities and believes in equality and kindness. Keep it up!
