Head To Tail

Our pup has been going to Head To Tail for about 3 years. He is groomed there and attends doggie day care once a week. The staff are absolutely amazing and love my pup like he’s theirs. He literally pulls me in the door and I need to drag him out! The groomer is very respectful of any request may have and he always looks great! They have a great selection of food, treats, toys, and gear. And the Pet House candles they sell are the absolute best! I would highly recommend!

I love bringing my dog to Head to Tail for grooming. He loves to go and I am always happy with how he looks when I pick him up. The staff is friendly and always communicates with me on timing and expectations. Highly recommend Head to Tail for grooming services.

Absolutely fantastic experience with this groomer and store! We just had our boy, Norman, a very beautiful Golden Retriever groomed. We brought our adopted puppy, about 10 months old, for his first grooming/hair cut in the spring of 2019 and again before the winter with excellent results.When I took my dog in again on March 9th, 2020 to get groomed, we had an issue. When I brought him home from his grooming, I noticed his left eye would not open. When I was able to look at it the eye was very cloudy and he immediately squeeze it shut. I immediately called my vet and brought in to be seen before they closed. Apparently, something like shampoo had gotten into his eye and caused a chemical burn. After being seen by the vet and getting medicine for his eye, which cost me $167 on top of the $73 I paid (including tip) for the grooming, I called Head To Tail. Subsequent followup appointments cost me another $140 in office visits.When I called Head to Tail to inform them what happened on the day (the 9th), the person who answered put me on hold to talk to the groomer. While waiting on the phone, I was able to overhear their conversation. The groomer immediately denied they were the cause of the chemical burn and she flatly refused to offer to pay my vet bill or offer a refund. They were obviously unaware I was able to hear their conversation because they asked for permission to call the vet and confirm my accusation. I authorized the vet to give them whatever they needed. They were given my info and the copy of the vet bill. When I called to followup, the said someone with authority would have to call me back to resolve the issue. On my second followup call after I received no call back, I was told I would be contacted soon. It has now been over a week since that call with no call back from them.I cannot in good conscience recommend this place, as I had last year. They refused to accept any responsibility, they failed to followup with me, and they failed to offer any apology or any kind of refund or payment of vet bills. I understand accidents do happen, and would not have held anything against if they offered at least and apology and refund of my grooming fee.

Head to Tail provides a great grooming service with day care included after. I recommend scheduling services ahead of time and out for a few months to ensure you are able to get in when needed. We set up monthly grooming for our mini Bernedoodle who has a wavy curl pattern and service ranges from $70-$80 after end of day pick up. The staff is very attentive and provides treats for the dogs at the end of each service which is a sweet touch.

More than a pet store or a groomer. Everyone has treated our dogs like the family they are! They have helped when our dogs were ill, and helped socialize our puppies. They are always beautifully groomed there. We appreciate all the kindness everyone extends to us.

Took my dog Cassi in for a nail trim, had a ton of trouble finding someone who was able to groom her, even the vet couldnt manage it. But they got it done! She has a lot of issues with anyone handling her but she wasnt super stressed out after the appointment and their prices are unbeatable. Staff is super friendly and helpful.

I live in the Lake George area. After my groomer retired, I was unable to find a groomer from Lake George to Saratoga that would accept new customers. I heard about Head to Tail and called and they pleasantly and enthusiastically made an appointment. Today, we made the drive. It was a wonderful experience. The groomer that was assigned to us came out and asked exactly what we wanted. More impressively, she did it! It was the best cut and nail care that weve had anywhere.Our dog was done quickky and he could hang out with other dogs, which he loves. We much prefer that to being caged.In addition to grooming and day care, Head to Tail is a great retail store for all pet supplies. It was very well staffed and well run. Well gladly drive 56 miles each way for their exceptional service.

This is, paws down, the best groomer in the area! Staff are super friendly and our dog feels calmer here than any other groomer. The whole experience is like a doggie spa day!

These folks were so good to my over-anxious dog. She really needed her nails trimmed and they did it so well - and fast!They have a huge inventory of all things for dogs and cats. Food, toys, so many different types of harnesses, collars, and leashes. Beautiful dog beds.

I shop here for all my dog treats and have for about 4+ years now. They always have stock and are a pleasure to speak with. Ready to answer any questions. And of course when I do bring in one of my pups, a treat is always waiting for them at the counter.

Absolutely horrible experience! Shaved my dog completely down to nothing, the absolute opposite of what I asked to be done, claiming she was matted. She had some knots on her neck and ears, which I thought groomers were supposed to comb out before doing anything else. Yet shaved her all over, down to nothing! Absolutely rude to me on the phone when I called to complain, offered nothing in return. I have been grooming her myself for six years, since she was a puppy. I wanted a more professional look. Never again!

Ive been a loyal customer for years, but recently had a disappointing experience. After dropping off my dog at 9:30 in the morning and picking her up at the latest possible time, I found that her nails hadnt been clipped (they were very long and its the ONE service I asked them to make sure they get to when I dropped her off). They explained it was due to difficulties with another dog earlier in the day. However, considering she was there all day, her nails should have been clipped regardless. When I called the next day to address the issue, I received no apology, no refund for nail clipping or offer to bring her back in to get her nails clipped. They said the owner would contact me the following day, but I never heard from them until I called today and the owner was rude and dismissive of my concerns. The owners response was extremely unprofessional. I recommend going elsewhere because if any issues arise, the owner fails to take responsibility or apologize. Dont waste your time or money here. I wish I could give it no stars for the owners response to this issue.

Ive been bringing my dog here for a few years now and have never had an issue, until now.I brought Sophie in on Monday morning and picked her up in the afternoon. I didnt notice anything at the time, but by Tuesday morning I noticed a large red spot on her shoulder. I was with her all night and did not see her scratching or licking/biting the area.I called Head to Tail Tuesday afternoon and told them what I had noticed and they said I could bring her in that evening for them to look at it. As the day went on the sore seemed to be getting worse and was clearly causing her pain so I made the decision to take her to the vet where she was given a steroid shot and a topical medication. When I brought her into the store, the woman was asking whether she had been scratching and seemed to insinuate that this was some kind of rash that was unrelated to the grooming. She took down some information and said that shed have the owner, Marie call me the next day.Which brings me to today...I did not get a call from Marie and decided to call myself in the afternoon. I was very pleasant and asked her if she had heard about the situation at which point she started to get very nasty with me. She kept saying well, what do you want me to do about it?. I explained that my dog has not had any skin conditions before and that this was obviously a result from the grooming that she had the day before. She kept interrupting me and insisting that this was not their fault and then ultimately told (yelled at) me to mail my vet bill to her and never come back there again.I had called from my work phone and once we hung up she called back. She told me Im even more mad now because I read your chart and your dog comes in matted. Im sorry, but I thought that was what the groomer was for? She also threatened my job and said that she would complain about me being rude...Im absolutely appalled that this is the way a business owner would treat one of their loyal clients.

The BEST canine resource in the area. From grooming to exceptionally high quality food, toys and supplies they are the place. The staff is knowledgeable and very helpful. Good old fashioned quality customer service. If you have a dog related question they will either know the answer or have suggestions where you can find it. You will never find a better one stop shopping place for your dogs.

I’ve been taking my Goldens there for 12 YEARS . Granted not a “regular” but a good bath and cut every 4-6 months. Called for an appointment and they couldn’t find any record of me . Hmm?? So, they either misplaced it? or didn’t want me to come back? but then insulted me by rudely suggesting I had called the wrong Head to Tales, That there’s another one out on the west coast. Seriously? You’re on my speed dial and I live less than 2 miles away! I know where I just went to pick up my groomed dog and spent a lot of money on food and treats! Oh well, that’s ok I found another place that did a better job on my dog, were a lot nicer and remembered me when I called back after only 1 visit. (p.s. they were always kind of stuck up anyway!)

Great place, our dogs are the 2nd most precious family members we have, I trust them whole heartedly. Our dogs have been going there for more than 12 years, they stay there, groom there, and we buy all our food there. Every one there is outstanding. You can trust them without reservation.

We have been using Head to Tails for about 2 years now, never have we had any issues at all. Our doggie is always happy to go. The staff is friendly knowledgeable and helpful. Our dog always comes home smelling and looking great with a bandana around her neck and a doggie bag with some gourmet style doggie treats. Pricing is great for as much as they do. Some places nickel and dime you for every little thing but not Head to Tails. We will continue to use them as our groomer for a long time to come.

Oh I just love this place. They take good care of my pet a.k.a. my son name Chewy. They worked with me, when I requested to cut his hair. They did what I asked with no problem, now he looks great.

We recently got a new puppy, who decided to chew our older dogs Lupine leash that I bought a year ago. Lupine has a lifetime guarantee and will replace leashes, with a proof of purchase... well, who saves a receipt that long for a $16 leash? So, I went to Head to Tail to just buy another one. When telling the cashier the story, she told me that they would just replace it right at the store. No need to go through the website! OMG, what great customer service! Greatest selection of Lupine leashes and collars I have seen in the capital district.

I have been following Lauri for About seven years who used to work at Pet Smart she is an excellent groomer for poodles especially since she owns her own poodles, and she has an adorable personality and my dog likes her. There are many groomers between Saratoga and Schenectady but I will follow Lauri

Before we knew about Head to Tail, my little miniature poodle had previously had horrible experiences, including a 5 slice down his chest that required emergency veterinarian intervention. He cannot be placed in a cage anymore because he refuses to come out.Head to Tail has been wonderful! Hes happy to go here and always looks great. They give him a separate place in the play area all his own because he is so little.I bring my other mini poodle here too and its always a great experience.

Great people, products and service! They were a great help to me today and I was shopping for a senior dog harness. Great dog cookies too...fresh and my pup loves them@!

A nice little place In Upper Union street. It is a pet store and a dog boarding. They sell pet stuff that you would not normally find in big pet stores like Petco or Petsmart. The staff is nice, courteous and obliging.

We talked to an associate in detail about my dogs condition where she cant move her back legs. We scheduled an appointment a week out after assuring us they could accommodate us. We show up today and now all of a sudden they wont take her at all, this is after going to them for about 5 years now. Wouldnt recommend them to anyone!

A super place for everything puppy/dog! We had our new puppy groomed today by Darleen. Darleen took wonderful care of our late Springer Blaze. She made him the most handsome and now has done the same with Rusty. Rusty had a wonderful first experience and we look forward to a long lasting family relationship with Darleen and the staff at Head to Tail.
