Im a veteran who graduated from the vet dog program. The ENTIRE staff is amazing. I feel like the dog they trained and gave me is the best of the best. They paid for me to fly from CO, placed me in a great facility to live, trained me to be a handler, and fed me for two full weeks. I didnt pay a dime. This place has changed my life and I would do this 100x again if asked. There are some rules here. This is a dry campus. Any vet should have zero issues with this place after all of the institution and structure theyve already been through. One more thing I really appreciated about this place is all of the community and connections I made. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, all of you.

Trainers are absolutely entitled and lack respect for the public. I write this after multiple occurrences of not just with my dog and others, but with different trainers. They have proactively upset my dog to make noise by teasing him to “train” their dogs. They do this while I’ve stepped away for a few minutes. And laugh about it when my dog starts getting bigger reactions to getting teased as they walk back and forth in front of him. I’ve had to train my dog to behave when I’m not around so I can bring him with me to places. For them to upset my dog and other dogs, undo our training just so they can train theirs is the most reprehensible behavior. This is not just training in public, which is perfectly fine. This is purposefully acting like entitled jerks. It’s disgusting behavior. Someone needs to train your trainers.

My dad had a horrible experience at Americas Vet Dogs. The staff said they were confused because the recent DD-214’s differs so much from the DD-214’s from the 70’s. My dad called and they said they would give his paper work to someone who knows more about the DD-214 documents. My dad has never gotten a call back. He has called back again and left a voice message and has still not gotten a call back. This organization is very unprofessional.

No problems at all, some advice to all this is to help. Please take it as such. No need for negative feedback. I did not write the rules, requirements, or anything else. Ive had two Service Dogs and these are the steps I took, and achieved the purpose I needed to.Read / Ask Questions / Contact by Phone / Veterans go through your VA. Contact the Service Animal POC at your VA, Below are the steps I took and had no issues.1. Get a letter from your Doctor stating that your quality of life would improve by having a Service Dog. Your (NEED) has to meet requirements to qualify with a Disability according to the ADA.* No there is no official certification, Take your and read theAmerican Disabilities Act (ADA).2. Find the POC, If you want insurance through the VA they will have a list of Training Centers they approve. I signed a document opting out of the insurance.* Even if you turn down the insurance they can still provide you with the list of training sites they use.3. Go through a basic handling course. Pretty much any chain pet stores provide this training. Must training sites Ive seen a basic handling and obedience evaluation will be given. I have seen animals denied for not having the basics.Ask questions, think how many different tasks are out there to assist people to improve their daily activities.* Take your and read the American Disabilities Act (ADA).Do your research / Read everything for yourself / Ask questions even if you think you know. (You know nothing) / Get contact numbers, most importantly names of contacts. Veterans go through your VA.

I am sure that there are plenty of veterans who have been helped by this organization, but I felt in necessary to comment on my own experiences with this organization while attempting to obtain a service animal for my veteran husband. What I want any veterans out there to know prior to contacting Americas VetDogs is that regardless of wether or not a veteran is rated at 100% service-connected through the VA, if you received a general under honorable conditions discharge, you will be denied based on the nature of your discharge! I think it is pretty sad that my husband who is in need of a service animal due to a severe lower-extremity disability is denied because he had an under honorable discharge rather than the traditional honorable at the end of his service. My husband is eligible for all military benefits with his discharge, but not a service animal apparently. This organization is absolutely entitled to deny any applicant for any reason, but I think it is absolute BS that he was denied for this particular reason. Again, if you have a general under honorable discharge, do not waste your time.

These people have treated me like family since 2008. Great people doing a great service. I was injured in 2004 in Iraq, and theyve been fantastic since I came in contact with them. Im on my second dog, now, and the program just gets better and better.

I applied because I have multiple issues after being shot in the head twice and beaten with a baton stick until it broke. They didnt keep me informed. I had to ask about every step of the way. Every time I emailed them, Id receive an email saying that that person no longer worked for them and that my email was forwarded to the proper person. Every. Single. Time. Then I was told by them that they train the dogs for health issues such as seizures along with the ptsd issues. Then another person there said that they only train the dogs for ptsd. At the end of all of this, after I sent another email asking what the status of my application was to which they never replied, I received a letter in the mail saying that I was denied because they dont think I have the memory skills needed to take care of a dog. The other reason was because my injury didnt happen on the job. They should have stated that in the beginning. I had told them my story on my application. Why did it take over a year for them to tell me that? Extremely disappointed in this organization.

This place is absolutely ridiculous. Their rules are above and beyond asinine. I told them on my application that I had up to two beers once every two to three months and they disqualified me for sobriety. Absolutely ridiculous. Go elsewhere.
