A great friendly place to do shopping for your pet. They have special ordered food for my dog that I wasn’t able go find in big chain stores. Their prices are reasonable and staff very helpful. They also have a groomer in the back. Check this store out!

Very helpful and knowledgeable staff. And a good variety of products. They know what you need and they know their inventory. You pay a bit more for their guidance so if you know exactly what you need, it may be possible to pay less online or at a big box retailer. But if you need a bit of help and guidance (like at stressful times with a pet’s health concern) this is a great place to give you peace of mind. It’s good to have them in the community.

We Adopted our first dog over seven years ago and he requires regular grooming every six weeks. Jayne our groomer at HPC, has consistently provided excellent service EVERY single time. I have never met a harder working professional. She has worked tirelessly even after surgeries or other tragic life events so that her customers’ pets were kept on schedule for their well being (the quality never suffered). Our community is immensely lucky to have this gem of a groomer.

I went to visit kitties in the kitty room - was advised the kitties re no longer in the store. Sadly, the website states there are kitties in the cat room as well.

It was my first time at the pet store. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. I needed that being a first-time dog owner. The store had a wide variety of food products, pet toys, clothing, leashes, and every day pet care. I loved that they had sample food for my dog I was able to take for free. Either way, they do have a return policy in place if my dog didnt like the food. They even have a groomer that works independently from the store. You can call and make an appointment. Great place for my dog and I to visit.

We like this store a lot. Been coming here for about 20 years. They always have what we need for our dogs, cats, rabbits. Much better than Pet Smart.

The service itself was fine, but after I had entered the store and put my carrier down in the grooming room, the groomer warned me that I should stand back because she thinks she has COVID. She did not wear a mask despite coughing and sniffling. I was not warned before my appointment that she was sick. Don’t go here if you value COVID safety in any way.

I am very impressed with this store. I went there looking for only one item, but was quickly impressed by the large selection of beautiful, and healthy coral selection. I was greeted by staff, and they were extremely friendly. They have a huge variety of saltwater fish. The one fish I was interested in they didnt have, but was informed the owner personally goes to a supplier and handpicks many of the stores fish, and they could get the fish for me, quarantine it, and make sure it was eating etc before I bought it. great store, and even better customer service I cant recommend this place enough.

Its a very nice store, that has a lot of great products. Ido enjoy going there, but it feels like the prices are a little high. I will go there but there prices are on the high side for my taste

We drove an hour to get there, turns out they were having a huge sale and the place was packed... We got there a half hour before they closed. We went looking for corals and anemones. Staff still patiently took the time while I went through their large selection... They even took time to adjust the lighting on each tank. Turns out they had a 20% off sale and a spin the wheel game. A half hour after they closed, when we checked out and the wheel was put away, the owner still offered us a random gift card. Very impressed with the set up. Very impressed with the staff. Nice, well run business.

I shop for both of my pets here and have always had a great experience. The employees are very knowledgeable and helpful. They sell a wide variety of supplies for all types of pets and have loyalty programs on many items, food, etc. They also have a great return policy on unopened food which is wonderful if your pets are picky about food like mine are.

Amazing place. Staff is super knowledgeable and friendly. Really care about your animals. My favorite pet store hands down. Also they have bulk feed for certain animals (like my rabbits) which is very inexpensive (price by weight).

Cant say enough good things about this place! Amazing selection of foods and toys and everything else you could ever need for your four legged friends! And their saltwater/coral selection is amazing! Living in the Schenectady area, its a bit of a drive for me, but for how amazing the store is, I have no problem making the trip!

It is obvious the staff love pets of all kinds. If you get something here and it doesnt work out for you they will gladly replace or refund without any hassle. If you buy 12 bags of food you get the 13th free which is a great deal and the food selection is top notch. Better than other stores.

This is a great locally owned shop. They carry a large variety of cat and dog food. They often have offers and sales that are actually valuable. Parking is easy, they have a little room you can say hi to a few cats that are up for adoption.

Jayne is an amazing groomer. She has years of experience and a lot of knowledge. She cares about the pets she sees and helps educate owners about how to groom their pets as well.

I LOVE Healthy Pet Center! Im in there multiple times a week a d the staff is sooo friendly and always willing to help find exactly what you need, and sometimes things you didnt even know you needed! They have an amazing selection and very friendly atmosphere! My dog and I love going in there! Everyone is always so kind to both me AND my dog. They ALWAYS greet you as soon as you walk in. Its a pleasure shopping therr each time. If they dont have something you need in stock, theyll order it for you and csll you when they have it and hold one aside for you until you come in. They really go that extra mile and they have a very caring atmosphere. Ill never shop at another pet store again. I truly love this store, and its the best for my furbabies!

Finally a place that knows how to groom cats! We made the mistake of bringing out cat to PetSmart over the summer and the people there said they could only do one type of cut for cats: lion cut. They told us this AFTER they ignored what we asked for and groomed our cat anyway. Some people love the lion cut but I prefer pets look natural and not like toys. The groomer here at Healthy Pet Center is fantastic! My fiancé was able to watch her the whole time and she listened to exactly what we wanted. Our long hair cat will now have an easier time maintaining her coat but will still be warm and not look like a hairless rat! Will definitely be bringing her here whenever she needs a little help with her fur.

The Healthy Pet staff is very knowledgeable and ready to help. When buying fish for my aquariums their livestock has been healthy. With their honest advice I have been able to introduce new livestock without a problem.

If I were to describe the store a few months ago, I would have described it as a well kept aquarium supply store with health fish and expert staff. Today I would describe healthy pet as store that charges more than money than larger establishments and cares very little for their customers. There is very little reason anyone to shop here. For more details, please read the detail of my review below.The store changed its store policy on trading in fish/corals for store credit a bit before November of 2014. They will take your fish for free, but will not give you any credit towards a purchase in their store. As an aquarium owner and big spender in their stores ($3000-$4000 in the past two years), I was a little irritated by this. Local fish stores are more expensive than the competition. I support them by spending more money there because they offer more, and this service is one of the bigger things that differentiate a Local Fish Store between a PetSmart or a Website. The least they can do is throw me a bone when I give them something that will obviously make them a 200-300% profit. So, I decided to make a stand.First I spoke with Matt (Head of the Fish Dept in the Troy store) to discover why theyd changed the policy. Ive been told that taking trade-ins was a difficult policy to replicate. Healthy Pet Center would like to open more locations; however finding the expert staff to replicate that process is difficult. People who turn this hobby into a career like Matt and Jess are tough to come by. You need someone like that to evaluate a fish and estimate the resale value. He explained that this came from the man/woman who owned the store.Im a big spender at Healthy Pet. Hell, Im probably in the top 5% of customers in the last two years. One thing that is true in most business settings is that roughly 80% of your business comes from 20% of your customers. Meaning, customer retention is actually more profitable than customer acquisition. There are a variety of reasons for this, and if youre interested google, customer retention vs acquisition. My point is, if Im in the top 5%, then the owner probably wants to know what someone like me thinks.Healthy Pet Center was opening a store in Latham, and they were going to have a grand opening! This would be a perfect opportunity to share my experience as a customer. After all, the point of a grand opening is to celebrate success and interface with your customers. I spoke with some staff to make sure the owner would be there and marked my calendar.Finally the day had come. I spent a good half hour to an hour trying to figure out how to articulate my perspective on the policy, and I ventured into the store. I spoke with the first staff member I saw. He was an older man wearing a pair of khaki shorts and a pair of glasses nested in his hair. I asked him if he knew where the owner was. He asked about the nature of my business. When I told him I wanted to talk about the fish, he told me to speak with one of the aquarium staff and said he didnt know where the owner was.I decided to wait for Jess (The most knowledgeable aquarium staff member in the store). After she was done with a customer, I asked her where the owner was. She pointed him out. It was the man I had spoken with earlier. I felt disrespected. I was upset. I was angry. She could see it. I told her he lied to me. She apologized. My girlfriend asked if I still wanted to talk to him. I was too angry. I couldnt. Id make an ass of myself.I left the store and decided to write an email to the company explaining what Ive explained to you. Theyve yet to respond. Its been 9 days since Ive emailed them. I told them that Id post reviews everywhere if they didnt respond. So here I am. Im so irritated. I wish Id just saved 1000s of dollars by purchasing my stuff from an online store. Im also frustrated because there is this store with great employees, healthy fish and an ass of an owner.Dont make my mistake. Dont waste your money on an establishment that doesnt care about its customers.

I love this place, theres adoptable kittens that you can pet if you ask! They have much healthier food and treats than other places. The staff is super friendly and very helpful when you have questions!

I couldnt find anyone else who would do my dog because he was a pitbull and could be aggressive with having his nails done. But when I called the grooming department at the Healthy pet center she said it wouldnt be a problem, that this was her specialty. Well it certainly was! I stood there watching in shock on how well behaved he was for her. Hes never been that good for anything ever. He has to be tranquilized to even go to the vet. She talked quietly to him and ignored his growls of dismay and now oddly enough he loves her. Weve been there three times now and when we walk in he jumps right up on the table for her. She is a dog whisperer, my dog Max and I so happy we found her.

Went there because of the multiple great reviews about their awesome saltwater fish collection because I was looking for a specific fish. Also read from another review that they’ll order a specific fish if they don’t have it for you. Get there, no fish. Worker tells me they don’t have them anymore at this location but at the Latham one they do. I went to the wrong one, no big deal. Wrong. There wasn’t fish at the Latham location either. If you don’t have fish anymore take down all the 5 star reviews about your awesome fish selection to inflate the rating on your store.

They are a local family owned store that researches all their products. They do not sell junk simply because people will buy it. They have competitive prices, good sales and have awsome deals during their customer appeciatian days.

Friendly environment. This business has the owner/manager environment. A shopper gets the feel that face time with employees are like talking to the owner.They really care about your thoughts and your experiences with your animals.

Any one of the local pet centers is going to be a thousand times more knowledgeable and have significantly better choices for your pet than a national chain. These people just care more and they show it in their willingness to help.
