My dog was last seen on February 12, 2024, only 12 days after my big brother Passed away. The bill for a yearly checkup with minimal care was nearly $400. The vet had administered a shot after I had specifically stated I did not have the extra funds for anything not immediately necessary. I tried to pay several times during the course of the conversation. Due to the discrepancies they decided not to take my payment & instead have someone call me the next day. I did not receive a call until the afternoon of the 16th (4 days later) in the meantime I had tested positive for Covid. In the following weeks after my brothers passing, my mother‘s health would rapidly decline. I then found my mother deceased in her bed on May 8. On August 20th my childhood best friend was found deceased in her home. Between Feb 16th - August 30 I had not received a single text message, phone call or letter from the office. My son however did call them in June to apprise them of my situation & he also made a visit to the office. He left payment & they said I could give a call when I was ready. I left a message in July that went unanswered. On August 30th I called & spoke to Dorothy, who was as sweet & supportive as could be. I wanted to bring my dog in & pay them in full for both visits, but they could not get him in for over a week. Dorothy assured me that I could call & bring my dog in anytime thereafter, no problem. I ended up at the animal hospital down the road that evening. I called this morning & was denied service & told they would no longer make appts w me & informed me I have been sent to collections. I have taken my pets to Commack animal for over 20 years & even adopted two kittens that were found on their premises. Not one call, text or letter from February 16th to today. I am heartbroken & appalled.

Such a great facility! the techs were super nice and caring and dr. eric johnson was a pleasure and my cat loved him. you can tell this place really cares for their patients and does what’s best for them. will definitely be back for sure!

To update on my last experience here. A month after my 3 year old healthy dog died during a routine check up here. I receive a 1,007.00 bill. They don’t contact me after they mis treat my dog but now charge me for it. This place should be shut down asap. If this has happened to you I encourage you to report this to the New York State Education Departments (NYSED) Office of the Professions.I am devastated to share our recent experience with Commack Animal Hospital, a place we had trusted for 20 years. We brought our 3-year-old dog in for a routine checkup and were assigned a doctor we had never seen before, not our regular vet. This new doctor and staff caused our dog such distress that she suffered a panic attack. During this appointment, they also muffled her with their hands over her mouth and took her in the back for another routine test. When she came back, her lips started to turn blue. This escalated into a heat stroke. We had to rush her to an emergency vet, but tragically, she passed away at 2 am in front of my kids.To make matters worse, the manager did not contact us until 5 pm the next day. When they finally did, they had the audacity to blame us for our dogs death. The quality of care has significantly declined since VCA took over. I strongly urge anyone considering this place to stay away. Our beloved pet might still be with us if we had gone elsewhere.

We have been with Commack Animal Hisoital since 1982. The original doctors were awesomeThe staff were awesome. We saw a changecwhenbtgey joined VCA and again when Dr Koslow left. Yesterday we had to put our very lived dog downThey knew we were coming yet we had to wait about 15 minutes to get a room.The procedure went well. Then I waited another 15 minutes to get the final papers and to pay the bill. The receptionist kept apologizing. I was waiting in a room with healthy animals, yet i just lost mine forever. I was told they were busy. The feeling I got was, oh well its over, you dont matter anymore. Dr Koslow and his associates saw us through 4 other dogs. Never did we have to wait either before of after.Please review your procedures. Remember that the animal you just helped along has a loving family that is suffering its loss.

The doctors, technicians and staff here are very special people. They are always friendly, caring and extremely knowledgeable. Their efforts have made it possible to prolong the life of my cat Elvis. We are extremely grateful for all you . Thank youElviss family

Dr. Gary Koslow and his staff were wonderful taking care of my Yorkie from pre op to post op repair of his ACL tear. They even let me come visit him the night after his surgery. Nearly 3 months after surgery, he was walking like a young pup again!

We had a good experience here. Were coming from a different vet that never seems to have availability lately. I think well switch to this vet. The doctor were saw was very friendly and open w us. Clean. We did not have a wait.

I was recommended by a family member to come to this veterinary office. Really close to home that’s a major plus. I have become the owner of my husband’s dog from his first marriage. She was never taken for a check up at all, Commack Animal Hospital was not judge-mental at all when I schedule the appointment. I can’t remember the receptionist name (all I remember she also has a dog that is named Bella) super sweet young lady. A day before the appointment Brianna called to remind and asked me to bring in some document ( which we don’t have, his ex wife never gave him the paperwork for the Bella). We made it to the appointment we called to inform them we were outside, at 12:50pm I received a call from a young man asking more information, which we provide with. At 1pm he came out to get Bella, she left with him happy and came out happy with him as well. We spoke to Dr. Frischer, super sweet basically let us know how the dog was doing and what she felt the did need and asked if we had any questions. Bottom line from making the appointment to a reminder and day of the appointment, the staff was very nice and pleasant. We were explained everything we need to know.My Bella has found a second home that treated her well and she will be going back for future appointmentsHappy dog Mom

The entire staff was incredibly kind and friendly. It was our dogs first visit to the vet, as theyre rescues. The staff was very considerate and patient with how scared our dogs were. Kristen was the sweetest. She treated our little sausages with such love and care.The pricing was fair, not over priced. I would recommend 10/10

Overall one of the better veterinary clinics Ive been to. One of my cats is a handful(well 3 person handful) but they were able to handle him.The doctors, especially Dr.Petit, are very knowledgable and honest.The office is pretty clean and the staff are kind.It can get busy at certain times of the day so I prefer the early appointments.They have an app which makes tracking pet records easy.Some services and products here are more expensive than other offices.

As far as treatment is concerned the staff is pretty good and I have no complaints. Little trouble accepting that because I was 15 minutes late they had to cancel my appointment… Last appointment I had I was waiting in the parking lot for 45 minutes and didn’t complain. This policy was never implemented in the past and I just think the front desk should do a better job accommodating customers rather than turning away someone who’s been coming for years.

I have been bringing my new kittens to this vet for about two months now, and they are wonderful! The receptionists greet you so nicely and love talking to your pets, you get a free bag of goodies to help you start your pets care the first time you visit, and the vets have all been extremely helpful. I also love their patient portal, which allows me to schedule appointments online and see when my pets vaccinations are due.

Commack Animal Hospital has been nothing but a blessing in mine and my pets life. The staff here really shows that they care. Everyone is always so friendly on the phone and really spends the time and effort to answer my questions(even when I am calling and being a neurotic pet parent). I use this facility for my exotic pets care and boarding. I have even called and cancelled several appointments and they have been nothing but awesome and understanding every single time. I would recommend this vets office for anyone with a pet, but especially individuals with exotic pets that require specialized care.

My family has been taking our dogs here for over 20 years. When I moved to Brooklyn, I still travelled to take my own dogs here. Im sure there are plenty of places closer but its hard to find a good vet. They have been amazing. Even with my Basset Hound who isnt happy to see them. Hes always heading for the door.

Every doctor and staff I have seen there has been great. Found out about this hospital through Happy Tail rescue that I got Penny from. I wont go any where else. They seen my dog Shea and my cat Fie so far since March of 2019. Will bring my cat goof if she ever gets sick.

We brought our hamster to see Dr. Roth. She was fantastic! She was very patient and caring. She really devoted quite a lot of time to us, which made us feel secure in her knowledge and advice. She was so very kind.

Doctor Pettit and the team at Commack Animal Hospital took wonderful care of our dog Daisy until she passed a few weeks ago. We took her there for her checkups, shots, and even boarded her when we went on vacation. Exceptional, friendly, loving staff. Thank you for all you did for us and for the Daisy Doodle. She will miss you all very much.

PLEASE GO TO ANOTHER VET!!! I have been a client of Commack Animal Hospital for years and they were NOT THERE WHEN I NEEDED THEM! My 15 year old dog was having trouble breathing and they would not see him! As a devoted dog mom I must warn you, please pick a vet that will be there for you not just for yearly visits, but when things go wrong. They did not prioritize a pets life over keeping a schedule please keep that in mind.

Extremely pleasant experience here on Thursday night. Had to bring our rabbit Benji here for urine scalding, and we were very concerned for him. The vet, Dr. Kari Pettit, and her assistant Stephanie were super knowledgeable and took their time to answer all of our questions and put us at ease. You can tell they really care about their clients. She even took the time to to explain how I can improve my rabbits diet, and also trimmed his nails for us! After such a great visit, the price was more than reasonable. I may actually switch my other animals from our normal vet to this one! Thank you Dr. Pettit and staff!

They took care of our cat during the last weeks of his life. On his last day when we took him in to end his suffering we were treated with kindness and care by everyone they hugged us gave out tissues encouraged us to tell them stories about our cat. When we left they gave us a plaster print of his paw. Amazing kindness amazing care. Thank youThe family of Rebel Galazin.

Everyone at Commack Animal Hospital are amazing. The docs are spot on and the Techs and clerical staff are so caring friendly and compassionate. 20 star rating will go no where else to have my furry family taken care of 💖they are awesome!

Not regular vet, went in on a Sunday for an emergency visit. Dog had bloody stool and vomiting, truthfully thought I was going to get ripped off since it wasnt my vet and was emergency visit. Dr. K did a thorough examination and did not do unnecessary tests to pad bill. Bill was extremely reasonable.Will be using as regular vet from now on.Thanks.

My dog(8 yr, pit/lab mix)hurt his knees so badly that he could barely walk, was in a lot of pain, and they took him in promptly w/o an appt. He needs surgery that we dont have even close to enough money for. While we try to get the money up, they are doing what they can to help us keep him as comfortable and stable as is possible. Their job is not easy and they handle it professionally.

My dogs name is Ace! He recently has been going here to hangout and enjoy some company from Jackie when shes free throughout the day. Jackie voluntarily comes an hour early than her normal work hours just to meet me so I can drop off Ace and go to school. When I drop him off he is nothing but excited to be going here to relax and see other dogs! This place may not be all done up, but it sure feels like a cozy, pet friendly environment that makes me comfortable to be dropping my dog here 3 times a week.

I have to give this place two stars because the front staff was horrible. I literally listened to their whole conversation about how one of the girls owed her 5 dollars. Then she proceeded to tell the girl to bring her in left overs... On my way out the girl who gave me my paper work and prescriptions Jana, was nasty and snippy when I told her I had a medicated question for the vet. She then proceeded to take a picture of my dog without even asking me! She just stood up and snapped it with the iPad. The only reason Im giving them two stars was because the vet I saw was really sweet and helpful. I will not be going back because the front staff made my experience that terrible. Also, the place really needs a makeover.

Front desk receptionist knew every customer that came in by name as well as the pets name. The vet, dr Torres was amazing with my shy scared cat. They didn’t try to get me to do any unnecessary testing.

They gave my cat great service for low cost. My cat was acutely constipated and they did everything they could to avoid an expensive and uncomfortable procedure. With their help my cat was able to return to normal at home which saved 100s of dollars and further discomfort.

Simply the best. ( feel free to sing that part)Consistently courteous and caring. The staff and techs show real concern during drop offs and pick ups.All of the Drs are loving towards our animals. Another 5 stars Google, if you dont mind.Thank you VCA Commack Animal Hospital!!!

Everyone is very accommodating, they take great care of all my animals. Ive been using their services for 30 years. All of the doctors and staff are wonderful.

I had called to make an appointment for the first time the woman had me on hold three times and then when she finally got me back on the phone she said “she’ll call me right back” ,Getting right back to you is not an hour later. If they’re doing this now imagine what it’s like when you have to bring an animal that need immediate care!! WHAT A JOKE !!! don’t bother

I am deeply disturbed and saddened that I have to write this. On Friday February 22 I called VCA to get an emergency appointment for my sick dog Kato. I spoke with Christina G and she stated Dr Torres was not there and no other vet could see him. I let her know it was an emergency and the emergency vet hospital was closed until 6:30. I was still told everyone was booked. My dog was in the back seat fading and I didnt know what to do so I decided to drive there. I approach Christina at the desk and she gave me the same response and said I can drive to the office in West Islip. Driving to West Islip was not an option due to Kato health declining rapidly. I searched for an emergency hospital and found West Hills. The took Kato right away and treated us like family. Its sad that his own dr office couldnt give us the same treatment especially since Ive been there since 2013. On Feb 24th my birthday Kato passed away. My family is heartbroken and your office is to blame. You pride your office on pet health as a top priority and excellent service and we definitely didnt get neither. Christina showed no compassion and didnt take the time to talk to a vet to see what can be done. If we ever get another pet we will never step foot in VCA where the receptionist makes decision on wether or not your pet needs emergency care. I will make it a point to ensure everyone knows what my family and I experienced.

Amazing Staff! Had to take my pet of 14 years Mickey for end of life comfort care, from the receptionists, veterinary assistant & doctor, they help greatly in comforting us and guiding us through the process, we felt very at peace with the whole process.... Thank You

Love this place, I’ve been boarding my dog here the last 3 years and I couldn’t be happier! I love the Vet is available during boarding in case there’s an emergency!

I have had numerous dogs and brought them all here. The vets and staff have always been great. We have used just about all their services including boarding, shots, diagnosis, etc. and would recommend them highly.

Very friendly treatment from all staff. There is coffee in waiting room for the humans. All three of our visits taken back on time. Vets explained everything, gave us an opportunity to ask questions. Never did we feel rushed.

Very bad experience bringing my new puppy here which is a shame because my family used to come here for years, they are rude and the doctor likes to give her own opinions that are incorrect. She then proceeded to read off a chart from another puppy and confused my dog with another, I left here in tears and for that will be going to a new vet.

The entire team was very helpful, when I had to take my dog to the emergency room, throughout the whole process the entire team was very helpful and I gratefully appreciate everything they did for us! They are truly the best!

. Dr. Koslow went above and beyond when dealing with a pet that has to be euthanized. The experience was difficult and emotional but the professionalism and compassion that was given by the staff made a hard situation tolerable. The fees were the most reasonable.

I’m not really happy with the veterinary technicians here. They are very dismissive and do not show any care about dogs or even their owners at all. Not satisfied.

They were okay as far as scheduling and being on time for visit do not like that I have to wait in the parking lot for my pet and did not like that when I brought my pet home he had a full-blown tick on his neck that they didnt discover prices are high but all in all theyre just okay

I am so grateful to have found Commack Animal Hospital! My dog, Sonic, can be a bit difficult during exams and treatments. This typically means stress for both of us. When I knew something was wrong with Sonic, I was hesitant to bring him in, thinking I was over reacting but I called Commack and made an appointment for the SAME DAY and was able to have all my concerns put to ease. The facility is clean, fast, and has great customer service! Special shout out to Lisa and Kristen who assisted in his treatment and Dr. Fischer for a thorough exam. Would recommend to anyone, they are fantastic!!

Dr Koz is great, and they always go out of their way to accommodate my German Shepherd, who has issues.

Anyone complaining about prices here isnt living in the real world with veterinary medicine today, which is nuts. I am happy to pay the higher fee for the excellent service. They took my elderly difficult cat in & were fearless in handling her (she needed to be covered in a comforter as shes a biter/tigger). Cat had an upper respiratory that the doctor handled appropriately (Convenia inject & not oral meds). They didnt question what I told them about her difficulty (and why she hadnt been to a vet in y e a r s) & didnt order unnecessary tests for an old lady. Nor did they ask me to pay upfront before seeing the animal (recently done to me by a Northport vet wanting astronomical prices before shed treat the animal). I left feeling like Id been treated like a human being and not a never ending $ well. Highly recommend. 💓

Had to take the cat here and the staff were awesome. Hes feisty and scratched bit at the last very, but he was calm and nice here. Maybe they have a better vibe. No problem getting a same day appointment.

Had an issue with the family dog and they wouldnt take me because they were closing in 10 minutes. Also, the dogs that they have there staying with them overnight are howling howling howling you can hear them from the store next door in a different parking lot.

Recommend Dr. Koswell, kind and caring Vet who we always request when bringing in one of our dogs.

Just wanted to say thank you to everyone at Commack Animal Hospital for everything they have done for all of our pets over the years. From our smallest ferret Foxy to our largest Itachi. Our dog Isabelle too. Each of our pets received top notch care and love from reception, techs and vets alike. Everyone went above and beyond for each and everyone of them. We are forever grateful for everyone and everything.
