The Soapy Dog

I had tried multiple groomers in the area and we were not happy with any until we found the Soapy Dog! I have a mini and giant schnauzer and the ladies here do impeccable work; they look stunning every single time. Even better, my dogs LOVE everyone at the salon. They used to have to be dragged in to other places for grooming, but they are always thrilled to see all the ladies at the Soapy Dog. Its a great experience for me, my dogs and my wallet. HIGHLY recommend!

We’ve used them a bunch of times and they’re great. Our dog is not that great with groomers, but they were caring and put our girl at ease. Not to mention, gave her some top notch looks.

You will not find a friendlier place to have your dog groomed. We get our sheepadoodle groomed every week and always get compliments on how great he looks.

As a trainer with many behavioral cases, Jen is the only place I will send my clients. I know first hand how much care and patience she has with strong or nervous dogs. I know when I send my clients to her she will work with them to help their dog feel comfortable with the process, not just rush to get it done. One thing I really appreciate is that Jen has the strong, calm confidence to help dogs get through the process. My personal dogs both love her but I can’t say enough about the progress my clients’ dogs have made since seeing her.

They are amazing! I have been bringing my pup here since he was a baby. As soon as we pull up he starts whining and trying to get out of the car! Everyone is so kind and they are just amazing with him. They have never given him a bad cut. Highly recommend!

Just went there today... Amazed by how quickly my girls nails were cut and they were so good with her - shes not trained at all and has a lot of energy and the groomer was fantastic. They even helped me get her back into my car.

Ok so I’ve never written a review before but I figured this place is deserving of my first one.So yesterday I took my puppy to The Soapy Dog, I am a first time dog owner and have not even the first clue of what I was doing, my fiancé and I decided getting a puppy for our two year old was a great idea (yea two year old and a puppy smart us) anyway the lady who runs the front desk was super helpful when I called to make the appointment helping me figure out a time frame that would work well with our daughter’s schedule and the time it would take our puppy to get groomed, she explained that puppies might take longer cause it’s their first time and they wanna build trust which I greatly appreciated. They even sent a reminder text the night before which was super helpful as I forget a lot of things with so many appointments and activities.When I got there the lady in the front was super helpful as I was struggling with holding my puppy and a cranky toddler. The groomer came out and kinda walked me through what the process would be and even went through how much length and difference with puppy coat and adult coat which I had no idea was a thing. Even asked if there was any allergies or even if my baby was allergic to any perfumes which was super considerate.The grooming took about about 2 and 1/2 hours and I even got a 20 minute heads up call that she was almost done. When I got there I was so happy with how cute she looked and how amazing she smelled, she smelt like bubble gum which is amazing. The groomer explained that’s she was a little “matted” and explained what that meant cause I had no idea and had a comb to show me how to properly brush and comb my puppy so I can keep her fluffy as she gets older and even offered to a lesson one day.As a first timer I don’t know if this kind of experience is normal but I love how they went out of their way to explain things and make sure I was comfortable with the experience as well as my dog! Thank you ladies at the soapy dog! Our little Madison will definitely be back!

I have nothing to say but good things about these ladies. The dogs come first and it shows by how happy my girl comes out. She smells good,the haircut is exactly what I want and my dog adores them. Theyve accommodated me last minute and I appreciate all the hard work they do!!!

WOW! I took my 5 year old long hair German Shepherd to The Soapy Dog for the first time yesterday and I have NEVER been so impressed with a grooming business. Not only were the staff incredibly friendly and accommodating, the wash, blowout and cut Sasha received is absolutely perfect. I have never seen such precise clean lines. It is obvious that the groomers at this business take pride in their work. Their work is incredible. Not only did Sasha receive the best grooming she ever has, the staff was EXTREMELY knowledgeable. My dog struggles with her weight and the staff gave great advice/strategies on how to work towards improving her quality of life. I will DEFINITELY be going back and will no longer be searching for a quality grooming experience! I cannot express enough how incredible this business is!!

I am deeply disappointed to write this review about my experience with the Soapy Dog. As small business owners ourselves, we always consider the impact of negative reviews, but this incident pushed us to share our disappointment. Initially, we were very satisfied & recommended their services to friends. However, over time, things took a turn for the worse. Several of our friends stopped using their services due to rude encounters with the woman behind the counter, who seems pleasant until faced with an issue.There were a few incidents over the years that led to us parting ways with Soapy Dog. On a previous visit, we were shocked to find that the price had significantly increased without any notification or signage. While we understand that prices increase, the lack of communication was off-putting. Despite this, we chose to continue using their services out of respect for small business owners.Another time, the woman behind the counter told us to give our dog an anti-inflammatory to help him with pain caused because she cut him shorter than normal. We did not give him the anti-inflammatory because our veterinarian did not recommend it. The following visit, she called us again, and began to repeat herself over and over almost scolding us for not taking her advice regarding the anti-inflammatory.All of these things could have been swept under the rug, but during today’s visit, we faced a family EMERGENCY that prevented us from picking up our dog at the scheduled time. (This is a bit offputting because from past experience with dog groomers, we drop the dog off before work and pick them up on our way home from work.) This particular groomer calls us 20 minutes before the appointment is over & expects us to be there at that time. Not everybody has that luxury of free time all afternoon to wait for their call. People work!I called the Soapy Dog 1 1/2 hours after I dropped off my dog to see if he would be ready within 30 mins. She said no - that it was going to take longer. I informed her that I had an emergency & had get to the doctor. I asked if I could pick him up 1 hr past the predicted pick up time. She put me on hold & came back insisting that he was supposed to be picked up 20 mins after she called me. Are you kidding? There’s no flexibility with time? I was then told that we can pick him up a hour later, but that they were going to charge us an ADDITIONAL FEE!!?… We are never told what time to pick up the dog when we drop him off at 8:30am. This was an emergency.. not like I was looking for a free dog sitting service. After being spoken to the way, I was spoken to on the phone, my husband decided to just leave work early, to pick up the dog, and then go back to work again. He drove from Oceanside to Huntington, and then took the dog further east back to our home, then drove all way back to Oceanside to finish out his work day.For a business that specializes in service and in customer service, they did not offer this to us at all! This policy seemed unreasonable, especially considering that many people work all day and may encounter similar situations.Moreover, when my husband expressed his disappointment and the fact that they were losing a customer over the additional fee, her response was dismissive and uncaring. The owner, who was in the back of the store grooming, never bothered to come out and address the situation. This lack of attention to customer concerns further highlighted the poor customer service at Soapy Dog.Overall, the Soapy Dog has demonstrated a lack of value for their customers. The incidents we encountered, coupled with their dismissive attitude and unreasonable policies, have led us to seek alternative grooming options. It is unfortunate to have to leave such a negative review, but it is necessary to share our experience and caution others who may be considering Soapy Dogs services.We hope that Soapy Dog takes our feedback into account and works towards improving their customer service and communication.

We have been coming here for years and I have always receieved great service. I mainly take our shih tzu and she always looks and smells great when she comes out. I love that they are interested in your pets health and always let me know when something is off (i.e. a lump or something off with her eyes) so we can follow up with a vet. My girl just turned 15 and they book her for the first appointment of the day sk they can take their time with the seniors. My chihuahua hates everyone but they always treat him like a member of the family and arent easily scared off by his tough exterior. I would defintley reccommend this place.

IF YOU WANT A CARING PLACE .... bring your dog here! I was recommended to come here because other places kept my dogs for hours! This shop works on a personal and caring level. They where able to accommodate my senior dog who gets very nervous in a timely matter and had both my dogs done in a short amount of time. And they had the best haircuts ever! The owner suggested that I make my future appointments in the morning because it’s calmer for my old shitzu rocky! I NEVER had a grooming shop care about my dogs so much! I truly appreciated the care the owner put out to me !! And the fact my dogs where not there ALL DAY! I so recommend this shop! The dogs really do come first!

Never ever bring your Golden to get groomed at this place! Brought mine here and the groomer cut off all his gorgeous feathers! I waited several months to call and speak to owner because I wanted to see if they would grow back and I didn’t want to leave a bad review. It is now several months later and they hardly grew back. I recently called to let the owner know how disappointed and upset I was and I was dismissed. Now I’m leaving a review because she never even apologized. Not professional at all!!!!

Have going to this place for a while now. Every time we are blown away!!!Our dogs are always happy to go which was rare when we went to other groomers, and they always come out looking amazing! The ladies and gentlemen that work there are always very pleasant and they are always accommodating. The owner Jen is fantastic and has been there when we have had any questions or concerns about our dogs as our Petey is getting old and has had some difficulties along the way. She has always taken the time out of her busy day to speak with us putting our minds at ease. She has helped us even find a great local vet since we just moved here about a year ago. If youre looking for a great and compassionate groomer i say look no further! Can’t say enough great things about them!!!

I have never given a bad review in my life but I can’t help but feel distraught at the way that I have been treated by this store. I brought my two dogs there in March and was satisfied with the cuts only to return in June. In June they shaved my one dog down to the skin and tried their best to shame me for matting around his neck as well as charge me extra. Although I was unsure about the previous groom I still wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt and when I attempted to make an appointment today they asked if I had brought my dogs to the vet to have the hair in their ears pulled which I always assumed was part of any good grooming. Apparently this was not performed in either session nor was I informed. When I expressed my disappointment I was told that that I am no longer welcome to bring my dogs for grooming.I want to say that although I was upset I was not rude more confused why this was the first I heard of the ear situation now I am shunned. Unreal!

Sad that they refuse to take older dogs !It feels odd that YOU (someone who does NOT know the dog) would make an assumption about what would be best for MY dog(s).  You didnt offer any time slots to me - I didnt decline any time slots ...I think, perhaps you KNOW taking an older dog means that YOU may not have a client for as long as you would IF you took on a younger dog???? Sadly, thats how I see it ... and many of MY other friends with canines see it as well.  No need for a waiting list as I believe Ive found a VERY nice establishment that was MORE than happy to take my doggies on.Thanks anyway!😉

Not a big corporate owned business or franchise, hard working local people with real experience and a passion for what they do. A little trust went a long way here and I will be back. They made my 70 LB anxious senior husky/chow dog look, feel and smell great.Price was reasonable and beat local competitors.

Extremely happy with how they treated my little pup, shes very shy in public and they made her feel well at home. She looked even better! Awesome staff they are all so kind and sweet and their work is beautiful . I couldnt be happier cant wait to come back :)

We started going to Soapy Dog about 5 months ago and they are fabulous with our german shepherd. They have a walk in tub which is rare to find in groomers. We have noticed a significant difference in the amount of shedding. Our dog has significant allergies and we have noticed his skin and dander has gotten much better. Highly recommend them.

These girls are great with the dogs. My dog is high anxiety and can be a lot to handle. Every other shop has suggested I drug him. This shop is the only one who told me that they would rather me not give him anything. He walks in without a fight and always leaves extremely happy. They really know what they are doing!! I have recommend a lot of people to this shop and everyone is now a satisfied customer. Also, have found they are the most reasonably priced shop in the area. Besides being happy, he always looks great coming out. Highly recommended!!

I Found my New Groomer Here. The owner of the shop is so very knowledgeable about dogs . She has given me some great advice and referred me to where i can get the help i need for my baby. The nice young girl who Checks you in when you drop off is always so pleasant, courteous and she always has a smile. After trying out different shops since January i am happy to say that this group of lovely young ladies will have me as a customer for life.

The best place that I have ever taken my Pomeranian too. He comes out beautiful. He also has trust issues and can be nippy if pushed. He absolutely loves them and they are amazing and so patient with him. I can’t imagine anyone not being happy there.

I have been bringing my dogs to the soapy dog for many years. I absolutely adore these girls. Their honesty is refreshing compared to other grooming shops. They always remember my dogs and my dogs always remember them. Unlike other shops I have been to where a different groomer would come out everytime. My little guy used to pee and poop everytime we would walk in the door. Now he runs in with a smile on his face as though he cant wait to be groomed😊. They always point out if anything has changed since the last time(skin,coat,teeth,lumps etc.) This is not a shop that just pumps dogs out and makes money. These girls love what they do and it shows in the quality of their work and how happy and relaxed my guys are when they come out. Sometimes my big guy doesnt even want to leave😂 They have even saved me money on vet bills when the owner had suggested I change my little guys food. He was red and bald at one point taking steroids everyday for his skin. His coat has come back beautifully and he no longer makes monthly vet visits or is on any medication. These girls are knowledgable,great with dogs, and very talented to top it. Me and my dogs love the soapy dog and we will be clients for life!! I would never even consider going anywhere else!!

We always bathed our German Shepherd service dog ourselves until the pandemic caused our Pet Valu to close. We searched for a groomer that has a walk in tub since our dog doesn’t like to be picked up and put in a tub. We found The Soapy Dog in Huntington and they do a fantastic job on him. Very professional and we find the grooming lasts a long time.

I can’t compliment these groomers enough!!! They are so amazing. My pit is soooo bad with his nails for me and they don’t mind a difficult dog. They are not afraid of pitbulls and won’t turn you away, unlike most other places around here( they actually LOVE pits!!) They also groomed my wheaten terrier and he looked absolutely amazing. they are so great. we moved to north carolina but will make more frequent visits to NY for them to take care of my dogs. i highly recommend the soapy dog for your dogs!

My golden retriever Molly loves getting groomed here! The ladies are always so sweet to her and they do such a great job! Every time she goes Molly runs in without hesitation and comes back looking great! Jenn and Julie are the best.

Horrible! If I could give this place less than one star I would. The staff was BEYOND rude and clearly has no real interest in the well being of your pet. My husband and made an appointment and I dropped off our Havanese to have her bathed and groomed and we were told she would be ready in about an hour and a half. We came back about 15 minutes before we were told she would be ready, which is fine, we had no problem waiting. There were two folding chairs against the wall so we sat there to wait for our pup. The woman behind the counter went into the back and we could hear her talking to the groomers about our dog. In the hour and 15 minutes we had been gone all they had managed to do was bath her. Worse than that, apparently she had been sitting wet in a cage for who knows how long! We never crate trained our dog and she barks when shes put in a cage because shes not used to it. They were complaining about our dog (whom we could hear barking in the back) and then they began complaining about the two of us for coming back early and for sitting and waiting! We heard them talking about removing the folding chairs we were sitting on so people wouldnt stick around. The must have assumed that we wouldnt be able to hear them from the back room. They rushed through her job, doing god knows what to her in the process, and when they brought her out to us she was shaking like shed been through some kind of trauma. The woman at the register then rang up our bill and told us not to bring our dog back - AS IF THAT WERE EVEN A CONSIDERATION AT THIS POINT. I would NEVER use The Soapy Dog again. They treated my dog horribly and they made my husband and I feel like we were somehow problem customers simply because we came back early and discovered just how they treat the pets in their care after their owners drop them off. HORRIBLE! If you have any concern for the well being of your pet, DO NOT use this establishment.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOGS HERE!! i have been a loyal customer for many years and I was a few minutes late to my appointment and they gave my appointment away to someone else. WHAT?? They dont take walk-ins so this makes no sense. The owner who I know for 20 years would not come out to speak to me. Employee literally sent me away. Disgusting treatment of a loyal customer, EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL AND RUDE!!

My boy knight comes out smelling super clean and happy they always do a fantastic job i know my boy can be a tough one but they sure are professionals im so happy i’ve been coming here , lady at the front super sweet and so is the groomer i love these people

The groomers are all so friendly and caring to my Trixie. She always comes home a happy dog and beautiful. They are also very accommodating to a busy schedule.

Not a great experience for myself or my puppy!Place was recommended by a friend ... maybe I got them on a bad day?? Although one bad day can have long term effects on your dog - therefore I will not be going back!!!

Didn’t know this place was still even open, not that anyone would take much notice..smelled rancid in the store and the prices were ridiculous. Nearly $100 for a shih-tzu, and the haircut was very askew. We go to petsmart now, they’re much better and prices are firm, and she’s always super cute!

Horrible place , the girl at the front was rude , they mauled my dog , they gave him a crew cut , it looked like a different dog. If you see the name soapy dog don’t walk but run away quick. I don’t know how they stayed in business in all these years and Jen the owner another is another horrible person.

First off I’m going to say how terrible this place is one of the worst places I’ve went to. If I could write a review under 1 star I would terrible place the groomers had poor quality and I would not recommend this to anyone’s family or dogs.They showed disrespect and poor quality when I was with my dog this morning she was happy as ever and then we drove her there and she started to limp and they hurt her hind legs terrible quality and we had to pay full price they showed a lack of disrespect to our family and wouldn’t recommend this on any of my enemy’s

I brought my 2 dogs here a long while ago and after 4 different groomers having a rough time with my 2 dogs this was the only place that my dogs were happy and treated well. They even gave me tips and tricks to help care for my dogs coat that has tremendously reduced their shed. I was met with positivity and welcomed happily. My dogs and I have found a good grooming home. My dogs never even resist coming in anymore they love Jenn and her staff like they are family.

I remember calling a few years back and I had a Bad Experience over the phone. Now I have a New Puppy who needs a new groomer. I decided to try to give them another chance since I am close by- the person who was answering the phone yesterday was extremely rude- I am assuming they must have great clientele and do not need any more new clients- She did not attempt to keep me on the phone past a few seconds to try at least accommodate me as a new client into another day.

Not very happy with them, I have been taking my dogs there for long time now, and the last two times was not a pleasant experience for us.

Great people that do a great job. I have a rottweiler that can be difficult at times. These girls handle him with no problems. Even cut his nails and he never complains. He always comes out looking great and happy too! Would recommend this crew to any and all.
