Sending my dog to Tim was one of the best decisions I have ever made. My dog, Bailey, is a senior pup - shell be turning 9 this year. It just goes to show there is never a time thats too late to try and work on training with your dog.Tim has a phenomenal approach to training that put me at ease very quickly. Hes extremely knowledgeable, very in-tune with dogs, and understands that every dog is different and has a different pace of learning. Aside from general obedience, I sent Bailey to work with Tim because she has a lack of confidence and was reactive to other dogs on walks. It was hard seeing her struggle in certain situations or get stressed out. I sent her to Tim for a full 4-week program. When she came back, of course she knew things like heel, place, come, learned boundaries, etc. Those were all things I expected as Id gone through them with Tim beforehand. The things that were so wonderful to see was that she can go on walks now and not get aggravated by other dogs or get stressed out by dogs passing. She has much more confidence and its only helped other anxieties she has - the more confident she is in herself, the more shes okay not being attached to me and fully depending on me.The other thing thats so great about Tim is he really makes sure youre set up for success when your dog comes home. In addition to the detailed emails he sends along the way of your pups journey, he spent a long time with us practicing commands, walking, and gave me printouts and emails that had all the information in it. He also has so many video resources. And even better, he goes into explaining why certain tactics work and why your dog responds well to certain things. He dumbs it down into language and something I can digest and really understand. Although its immensely difficult to be apart from your dog for 4 weeks, I always knew Bailey was in good hands. Between his emails and the Instagram updates, I always knew how Bailey was doing and was reassured. She came back happy as a clam. Ill be utilizing Tims boarding program from time to time when I need to go away for sure.Thank you, Tim for everything youve done for Bailey!

I brought both of my dogs to Tim for training programs over the last year and I’m so happy I did! It has been such a wonderful change in my relationships with my dogs. I feel like I understand them better and we get to enjoy so many more adventures. With my 1 year old Ella I had a tough time enjoying our walks because of her lack of confidence and pulling on leash. She barely responded to leash pressure! It was frustrating taking her out for simple bathroom breaks. However, she worked with Tim for 4 weeks and WOW - she became a more confident and well behaved dog! It has been great to watch her grow and continue to utilize the tips and guidance instilled by Tim.With my 3 year old Henry, he would often be on his own path during walks and would be overly excited to greet every dog and person. He’s a small guy, but I wanted to be able to walk my dogs nicely together and give him more structure. Recently, he spent 2 weeks training with Tim and it has been great to see how calm and engaged he is on our walks!I recommend Tim to anyone seeking guidance of any kind with their pup. I’m looking forward to continuing to bring my dogs to Tim to train for years to come

I’m not sure we can adequately describe how grateful we are that we found Tim at The Guiding Leash. He is a true dog whisperer! We are a family of 5, first time dog owners and realized we wanted some extra help. After an almost 2 hour phone consultation with Tim, we knew our girl Remi would be in the best hands. His attention to detail and his natural passion for dogs was incredible. It was hard to send her off for 4 weeks, but Tim put as at ease right away. And we never questioned our decision for a second. He posted a video and/or picture every day and sent a detailed email every week with her progress. He was quick to respond to any questions or general comments we had along the way. It was clear from the videos that Remi was very happy staying with Tim and it quickly became one of the best parts of the day when we got an update! Once Remi came home, Tim spent almost 2 hours with all 5 of us going over all she learned, training us on the collar and practicing outside. The best way to describe it is - we now have the tools to properly communicate with Remi and she understands. Before her time with Tim, she wasn’t “difficult,” but it felt like we were on one page and she was on another. Now, we feel like a team! It has reduced a lot of stress because now we know how to guide her. Tim continues to be incredibly helpful and answers any questions we have. He truly loves to hear how Remi is doing and receive pictures. We already have her booked to stay with Tim for some future travel and it’s the best feeling knowing that she will be in such good care! In fact, the first time he came back to pick her up - she couldn’t have been more excited. She loves being with Tim and her pup friends! Tim, we can’t thank you enough and are thrilled that we (and Remi!) will always have your guidance!

Tim changed our life for the better. Our dog Loki, while sweet as sugar, was terrible on leash. He’s very compact and VERY strong. He pulled the entire time. It became so bad that we never walked him and just let him out in our yard with our electric fence. He also would get so overly excited when people would come over that it was chaos for a few minutes until he calmed down. So we decided to send Loki off with Tim for his 2 week Wayward Dog training. Tim constantly kept us updated with posts so we could see Loki’s progress. Seeing the change via Tim’s posts was almost shocking. When we saw it in person, however, our jaws dropped. We took him for a walk in our neighborhood like a normal dog! He heeled properly and only had some minor distractions when he saw another dog. It was really an incredible transformation. We’re just at the beginning of Loki’s training and we can’t wait to see what the future holds. We highly recommend Tim!

The Guiding Leash is one of the Tri-State Area’s hidden gems when it comes to dog training. Without Tim’s guidance and expertise my 100+ lb. Great Pyrenees/German Shepherd mix would still be wreaking all sorts of havoc in my household.I’m happy to say it’s been three years since signing my pup up for a board and train at The Guiding Leash and his obedience is better than ever. That’s because in addition to being able to clearly explain why specific training methods are effective, Tim also emphasizes the importance of understanding how dogs learn.Once you’re armed with this knowledge you’ll be able to confidently navigate new and stressful situations with your pooch. (And if you’re struggling, Tim is ultra-responsive and happy to help!) It will completely change your relationship with your dog for the betterSign up for a consultation as soon as you can! It will be the one of the best decisions you’ve ever made.

Tim is so knowledgeable and a true dog whisperer! I enrolled my pound puppy, Justice, for the 5-day explorer program and got an almost perfect little gentleman returned to me. Truth be told, hes only almost perfect because I dont always follow all of the rules as closely as I should. Otherwise, I have no doubt he would perfect! Luckily, I dont mind his mild imperfections and, as weve both matured in this process, theres been continued improvement. Im confident that he will grow into the best dog ever. Thanks Tim!! You really do have a gift!

We called Tim due to some dog - to dog aggression issues with both of our wheatens, but mainly our male wheaten. He was recommend by a friend who had seen great results with her dog. After our initial consultation we decided that we really liked Tim and signed up for a six week program. After 6 weeks I can say that we are thrilled with the results so far. Leash walking on the bike path has become much more pleasurable. The dogs walk right beside us and Tim’s guidance has helped us deal with issues as they arise. Tim’s focus is on positive reinforcement, but he also showed us that it is important for our dogs to know who is in charge and to let them know when they make a mistake, so that they can learn from it. We also noticed that our dogs are much more attuned to us while walking now. They keep looking up to see if they are doing well. It certainly showed us that good dog training created a stronger bond between the dog and the human. We are also thrilled with the “Place” command that we were taught. Now when visitors or strangers come up to the house, we can tell the dogs to go to “Place” and the usual barking and jumping immediately stops as soon as they get to place. We would highly recommend Tim for anyone who has a dog and wants some solid training.

Jillian and I can only thank Tim for all he did to help make the adjustment to her new home easier. She had a bumpy start in life, but Tim gave me the tools to make her feel safer in her “bubble”, and seeing her take each new step has been heartwarming. We still may be a “work in progress”, but thanks to Tim and his detailed follow-up summaries, we’ll be continuing our journey. I am grateful for this opportunity to rescue a pup who is rescuing me right back ... and am glad to have had Tim along for the ride.

Tim was very informative and professional. Always arriving in a timely fashion. I loved the email summary post lesson going over everything we had done that day since you can always refer back to the information. My last lesson was a couple weeks ago and my dogs behavior has improved tremendously! I used to avoid public places with potentially other dogs, but I am getting more and more comfortable now that I am building skills with my dog. Thanks Tim!

Tim has been an amazing resource for us. When we needed a trainer during COVID for our hard headed dogs he was able to help us with virtual visits. I was apprehensive to doing virtual but it worked out perfectly and Tim was incredibly helpful during the “visits” and in between. Our older dog started attacking our younger dog and Tim’s approach has made it so they can be in the same room again! So appreciative for him and highly recommend.
