A decent dog park ruined by bureaucratic Idiocracy. Not allowed to have water bowls at a dog park. Please, make that make sense. Apparently, it is offensive to certain people to see water bowls at a dog park, so you are no longer allowed to leave a water bowl for dogs to drink water from. However, the garden that shares the dog park is allowed to have a pigsty of a facility that goes completely unchecked. You gotta love the party of democracy.

Largest dog park by far! Owners are good about cleaning up after their dogs. There always seems to be a good group of dogs here even at off times like the middle of a day on a Wednesday. Not too sure if they actually enforce the permit as I have been there quite a few times and never seen anyone doing so.

I’m not one to complain about any dog park, but steer clear of this one. I took my dog to the small park to get adjusted. I had been advised that the “all dogs” could get rowdy. First, the small dog park is a dump and very small. Second, the warning about the “all dogs” park proved correct. A nasty fight broke out with a smaller day all bloody and crying. Hard pass.

Park is good but extremely muddy, not good if you’re driving your dog there and bringing it back inside. Car will look ridiculously dirty.

Ward Acres is not your normal city park, it has more of a woods feel to it. Eventhough the park area was a house with huge grounds in the 20th Cebtury, the city of New Rochelle has not invested in the park itself, rather let it become a wood with trails, with some meadow areas in the centre. All that is fine for the visitors who relish a walk in the woods with their pets and can roam for quite a long time in this mid sized area.

Ward Acres Park and Dog Park is a great place to take your furry friends to run and play. The park is large and spacious, with plenty of shade and seating. 🪑The park is generally well-maintained. The only downside is that the park can be crowded during peak times. However, if you are looking for a great place to let your dog run and play off-leash, Ward Acres Park and Dog Park is a great option. 🌳🐕Best thing about the dog park:The best thing about the dog park is the sense of community. There are always friendly people and dogs there, and it is a great place to socialize your dog. 💙

My dog loves this place. He jumps in the car and demands we go here. It is a large grassy area. People are friendly. A large area for large dogs and a separate area for small dogs or unfriendly dogs. You can walk your dog off leash on the trails around the park. Just a gem. I dont know what we would do without it!!

I have jogged this park a few weekends. It has a fenced off abandoned barn which is falling apart and I think looks pretty cool. Frankly the trails are too short for me. I usually head to Northern Westchester parks for longer trails. The real headliner though is the dogs run this park, and Im not just talking about the fenced in dog park section. Ive jogged past unleashed dogs (not strays) every trip. And if youre thinking to yourself well we need an ordinance and enforcement then you are not my type of person. You need to face reality. The dogs run this park. Everyone knows it and they bring their dogs there. If you dont like dogs I suggest find another park.

One of the most spacious dog parks Ive been to. Public water access for all the dogs. Lots of leftover tennis balls from other owners. Tons of open space and grass - not a dirt / concrete / asphalt dog park like most.

A 62 acre rectangular park that is well forested, lush in the summer, overgrown with invasive vines in places, full of unmarked trails, not well drained in many places, and like it or not heavily used by dog walkers. The dog walkers do an excellent job of cleaning up after their dogs. Inside Ward Acres is a large fenced in dog park(Paws Place), but people also walk dogs in the main park as well. If you have a fear of dogs this not your best park. The park needs a lot of tender loving care even though quite a bit has been invested in it since Noam Branson became mayor. He also made attempts limit dogs that were partly successful - I say this as one who needed to be limited. Not really a good place to run all although for me Paws Place was useful in that it so big I could run around the perimeter while my dog played with other dogs - so I could get my dog walk and my in at the same time.

First time using it in years and a giant shepherd attacks my five month old puppy, bites his snout breaking the skin. if i didnt pull the dog off with the body harness he was wearing it could have been a lot worse. when i told the owner to put her dog on a leash, she starts yelling at me that because her dog is an alpha dog and neither are neutered its not the dogs fault. the owners worse than the dog. the sign says no aggressive dogs, obviously some people ignore it. the same dog had tried to pick fights with others just before attacking my five month old puppy.

Ward acres is 65 acre combination hiking trails, fenced in 5 acre dog park, and community garden. It used to be a farm and it still retains that feeling with quaint stone walls and the old barn. Dog walkers need to obtain a permit with New Rochelle city hall. Both Residents and non-residents need to pay. It is an absolute treasure for everyone that we have this open park-trail system. Nala and I go almost every day!
