Mud Creek Dog Park

We visited Mud Creek Dog Park in Patchogue with our three dogs—our own and my parents two dogs—along with my mom and fiancée. We arrived around 9:30 am, and while there werent many people there initially, the park filled up by the time we left at 11:30 am. It was a great time for all the dogs.The park has a fenced-off area where you can let your dogs off the leash to swim and play together. Our dogs had an amazing time interacting with other dogs and enjoying the water. However, there are a few things to be aware of. The sand is quite rocky, and theres a lot of seaweed in the water, though it lessens if you go further in. Additionally, we encountered a lot of horse flies, which were quite a nuisance.Overall, despite these minor issues, it was a fun outing for our dogs.

It’s great there, but if you have smaller dogs in the off-leash area just try to be more mindful as most of the dogs there are on the larger side, so there’s risk of trampling. when i can get there and there’s basically nobody there, it’s the best (for my little ones)

Large, fenced-in area for dogs to run around off-leash. One section right on the bay and around the bend it on a canal with calmer waters. Always plenty of dogs and people are generally very friendly. My dog always has a ball there.

My partner and I brought our 7 month old mini aussiedoodle and she loved it! All the dogs and people were friendly, our girl got along great with everyone. The beach is nice and we enjoyed watching the dogs swim and play. Took a star off because of the amount of broken glass. We collected and threw out as much as we could carry. But it’s a shame because otherwise this place would be perfect!

Terrific! Lots of space to run, play, & swim both in the ocean and in a calmer inlet. People & dogs were super nice - my dog loved them. Beach is somewhat sandy & also tiny pebbles. Be prepared for a trek of a couple of minutes on sand that is pretty harsh on the feet - Ill wear sneakers instead of sandals next time - to get to the water. A few piles of poop were left in the large area before turning the corner toward the beach. Be sure to walk over the dune to the left to get to the lovely inlet.

Such nice people and dogs present! Looks like there are a couple of chair that were left there so you can sit down, admire the view and watch your pup(s) play. Id suggest bringing plenty of water for your pooch, a bowl for them, water and snacks and a chair for yourself and stay the afternoon!Lots of seaweed when we went on 8/20/22... not sure if its all the time or just a temporary thing... dogs didnt mind, but we entered the park through the end of the street as opposed to the official entrance and it was quite slimy and slippery walking on all of the seaweed.Also, the water line is a bit rocky (small rocks about the size of golf balls). Could be tough on dogs foot pads. I noticed that our dog seemed to be hobbling around on the rocks after a while, so Im assuming her feet were sore and we left. The sand is also pretty coarse and can be tough on human feet. I wore Teva sandals and was fine. Sneakers would be good, too... but flip flops might be irritating with the sand rubbing on your skin between the straps.Overall - a great day to be had!

Great size dog beach! Usually empty during the week/early hours. If you’re walking through the dog park area, you are going to be dodging dog poop unfortunately. People have brought and left chairs there for sitting

I think going at this time makes it perfect. Not too warm, not too crowded. We almost had the place to ourselves! Its like a private little dog beach. Were slowly getting our dogs to like the water, but all they did was dip their paws in. Other dogs were romping in the water, which was a beautiful thing to see. I did not notice a lot of glass as others complained about. It was a nice day trip for us from Brooklyn.

Great views and lots of running room for a dog. Fairly clean. You can see boats coming out of the marina and up the river. Very quiet.

This is a great place to take your dog and let them enjoy the beach. There a bit of available park9ng and friendly locals and visitors but still not crowded. Just carry out your garbage so the beach stays clean!

Best dog park on Long Island! Tons of space for your dogs to run, swim, play, and explore. Just be sure to check for ticks when you get home.

After about three runs I think I finally got most of the glass, it’s a shame people can’t pick up after themselves and for the people complaining about the glass and garbage if we all did our part it wouldn’t be like this( these are not the same photos, this is all different glass I picked up) also all the garbage I picked up is not shown in the pictures. Besides that this is a beautiful beach and amazing for dog owners. Just do your part. After a couple of years of now cleaning up this beach i was informed that at one point it used to be an oldDumping recycling ground! Henceforth all the old glass.

The newish fencing can make entry tricky and that dock is sharp but otherwise a perfect play date spot with your pup! 🐾

Cute park/beach for our pups! Only complaint is theres not any garbage cans (that we saw) so there were poop bags all over the ground.. otherwise it was awesome and had a great time!

Nice section of beach for dogs to play in and out of the water. Friendly people and all dogs were well behaved. All were off leash but zero issues with any dogs not getting along.

My dogs had a wonderful time being free torun on the sand and into the water. Quiet area to relax.

The beach was very very rocky. It was difficult for my old girl to walk on. It is great for younger dogs. They seem to love it.

It was our first time there withour dog, safe to say we well be coming back. Our boy loved the open space and the water. Relaxing for the humans and fun for the fur baby

My Female Boxer had a blast. Chasing and swimming after other dogs. That wont tired her out but a fun afternoon at thel local beach.

Big sand area away from the water for the dogs to run, as well as a nice smaller area on the water for them to swim in. Great clean place for the pups

Really nice place to let the dogs run off leash. Friendly people too over there, they understand its a dog park. Bring bags for droppings.

Its great there’s a designated dog beach on LI, but sadly it’s tick infested, I would not risk having the dogs wandering near the bushes or grass.

Great beach for your dogs, they will love it! A good friendly crowd, water is clean, just wish they would clean up the broken glass on the sand. Otherwise it’s like a huge beach dog run. Good time! I would have gave it 5 stars if it wasn’t for the broken glass.

Beautiful location. Amazing views. Been here a few times. A lot of big dogs. Ive noticed there owners dont watch them very well. Not sure if its always like that. Big dogs little dogs dont mix well.

This could be a very cute little beach park, but it is in need of some good upkeep in order to keep it safe.I found this place with a cursory google search while visiting the area but had no idea the dog exercise area opened up onto the water entirely. Shame on me for not doing more thorough research, but at a quick glance looking into the park you are not immediately aware that the park wraps around to the waterfront.First time visiting without knowing this was a surprise for me and my energetic and adventurous dog who tried very hard to get away around the waters edge. Be warned, there are plenty of spots a small dog can crawl under the fence (where there are fences). There are also areas which a dog can sneak back onto the road from both the beachside and inland sides.One couple with an aggressive pitbull yelled at us for having our small dog off-leash in.... a dog park! Go figure.Cute park, but not very safe, especially if your dog is one to try to escape. Be wary of escape routes in the terrain, and of visitors with a loud bark.

Terrific place for dogs and their owners! Friendly dogs and friendly people. A great place to just let your dog run free and be a dog. Wonderful place for a great time of exercise, swimming and playing with other dogs leash free. We try to get to Mud Creek as often as possible...daily if we can. This is our favorite place ;)

Great beach side park for dogs.. has a fenced in area and also a shore area for the dogs to get wet.. rather small park but big enough for them to run and stretch their legs and the location is cool.. parking is on street and finding a spot is generally easy

A dog park located on the South Great Bay, a place where you can bring your dog to the beach and then unleash their wrath! Lol. my dog loves to swim here. Just be sure to check water quality beach reports in the area after rain events. I usually look at Corey Beach’s (Blue Point) reports online for any warnings.

Love that my dog has a beach to run free on! Just wish there wasnt so much glass and that the broken pier was removed!

Great for dogs... fun beach

Owners beware!! If you are facing the water, off to the left is an area with an old dock and metal stakes sticking out of the ground (The area is pictured in a number of the Google photos) It is not blocked off, and our dog chased another dog into the area. We believe he ran into one of the metal stakes and has a large puncture wound to his chest. Our poor dog is in a lot of pain, not to mention the $250 vet bill. We didnt realize this was a hazardous area, otherwise we wouldnt have let him roam so freely, but we assumed as a dog park, it would be safe! Its unfortunate because otherwise it is a great location.

The area is vast! Dogs and owners can really have a good time here. Just dont forget to bring drinking water for your dog. The sand can get hot for sensitive paws when the temperature is upwards of 80 F. I did not see any bathroom anywhere, so keep that in mind.

Great little park with a beautiful view. My dog loves this place, especially getting to take a swim in the bay. It is partially fenced but not the entirely fenced in so I recommend a leash. Lots of dogs for socializing too!

I couldnt have planned such an experience! Most of the dogs were off leashes and playing in the water. It wasnt crowded or dirty! When gray clouds appeared in the distance, everyone left and we had the whole place to ourselves! The sight is truly one for sore eyes. Well definitely come back!

Great dog park. Two issues though. No fenced in area, your dog must be trained to run free or youll have to keep it on a leash. Some broken glass, so be aware. It looks like kids party here at night. Cherry Ave. dog park in Sayville has large fenced areas.

Lovely place for dog owners to take their pets.

Great beach my dogs love to swim there , but the last time I was there this huge unleashed dog attacked my puppy. Otherwise everyone is great it’s just those who have unleashed pets that don’t follow commands when unleashed that make it bad for others.

This is one of the worst places I have bought my dog!! The amount of broken glass is just ridiculous, and the number of lazy pet owners who simply can’t pick up after their animals is disgusting!! They have ruined what could be a great spot to bring your dogs. Granted the view is good but what is that when the safety of you and your dog is in question!!

Best place to go with your dog for a day trip which will feel like a vacation...

A ton of space for the puppers to run around and nice views! They just put up a black chain link fence so you dont have to worry about the dogs getting loose, although if your dog is adventurous, they can find ways to explore if your not watching them.

This is a great beach for dogs. Friendly owners, lots of room to run and play, and of course, water to play in. It is open barrier, so no fences, but dogs can run off leash.

One of my favorite dog parks to go to!

Its a small area for our dog to play in. Theres a semi fenced sandy area. We came at the end of the day so hardly any dogs. It is clean.

Excellent for dogs with good dispositions and who respond to their owners commands. If not, dont come. People will have something to say. Also, with out exception, owners have been responsible and still carry a leash in case of an emergency. Ive never seen one, however.

The largest dog park at have ever been to and you have your own section of Beach for the dogs to gather and play around. Finally I found a dog-friendly Beach.

Great to have a beach where dogs can roam free. I did see some glass in the sand but it was not in large quantities. Hopefully people will continue to keep this place clean.

Great place to let your pooch run! Just be careful because it is technically not gated throughout, so your pups can run right to the beach. My dog loves it here.

Bella and I love this park. Its secluded, peaceful and vast. Theres plenty of room for her to run around and explore. Being a beagle-fox hound mix, I think she appreciates that.

Horrible place. My sons legs got cut up like crazy on I dont know what. But that should have never happened. I wanted to bring my dog to the water and it turned out to be a nightmare. At least 20 cuts up to his knees. The park was big and that is the only think I can complain about but it was major.

Pretty nice spot for dogs of all sizes, with the added benefit of water access. When we were at Mud Creek, the sand was very clean and everyone there was friendly.

Park is all sand. People dont clean up after their dogs, broken glass. Be very careful where you walk. Nice area though.

Name is quite misleading... Neither muddy or a creek (though a dog park). Nice little beach to take your dog - with few options to let my dog run around in the island, this place is awesome.

It had broken glass within the sand the the dogs and people could get hurt in. The seaweeds were everywhere but maybe just a bit more care. Other than that it was lovely.

There was shattered glass all over, I had to pick it up so my dog didnt get cut by it. The owners there were not paying any attention to their dogs. There was dog poo the owner never bothered to pick up on the path to the beach and on the beach too.

Kind of like Wild West here. Not everyone is watching their dog. And every dog is off leash. Otherwise this place isn’t bad. The sand is full of shells so wear slippers.

Lovely sandy beach and very large expanse of sandy fields.

Love this beach came on a Sunday and met lots of friendly dogs and parents. My dog had so much fun. Came here on a Monday morning we had the beach to ourselves pretty much. A man came with his lab and attacked my dog. Left a gash on her face and we had to leave. I should’ve known the moment he mentioned he doesn’t like bringing his dogs when it’s sometimes crowded. Don’t know if I can peacefully come back here because I feel like some dog parents won’t accept that their dog just isn’t dog friendly with others.

I was only here 1 time. Max and I absolutely loved it and we will be back!!!

Lots of room to run and play. So fun. Only downside: people leaving poop bags on the sand when there are waste cans, and the broken glass. If each person picked up a little our fur babies would be safer.

Huge area! Just a little bit too rocky, and kept seeing shards of glass.

Me and my dog Bella love this park. Hard to believe there is a place left in the land of no long Island(waterfront no less!) were my best friend can run free to play, explore and wade in the bay.

Great idea and great location... but found it not well maintained. We found broken glass and other random garbage, and many people dont pick up after their dogs. Would have rated it 5/5 if people took care of it better

Quiet, good place for the darlings of the house. Areas for them to run and have fun. They can swim. DEA enjoys it to the fullest.
