Fearless K9

About a year ago, we brought our new shelter pup into Fearless K9. We’d had him 2 months and had made no progress bonding with him. He was aggressive, destructive, and frustrated, and it was clear that his quality of life wasn’t great. We didn’t dare do an introduction with our other dog, fearing that one of them would be injured. The shelter from which we adopted him suggested that euthanasia may be the best option.When I called Regina and she kindly said, “We can help you,” it was such a relief. And after our first session, we saw a difference. Josh trained us to work with Moose and understand where his issues were coming from, and what he needed to feel confident and safe. We eventually brought our other dog to the sessions and got the pups successfully integrated. A year later, our now sweet and sensitive Moose likes being a part of our family and loves his “pack.” Most importantly, we have 2 happy, bonded dogs. We are so grateful to Fearless K9 for their work and for their honest, candid advocacy of our dogs’ needs. Josh and Regina save lives. We’d recommend them to anyone who was struggling with behavioral issues in their dog, for obedience training, etc.

I started working with Josh a little over two years ago and I can never say enough good things about him. His knowledge for dogs and dog culture and patience to work WITH the dog and its genetics is top notch. He looks at and understands each dogs individual needs and works from there to help the owner/handler understand and learn to work with their dogs to make amazing teams. Whatever goals you have for yourself and your dog he will work with you to reach them. Im always sharing with people the training methods Ive learned because Ive seen first hand how well they work. My dogs LOVE going to training classes, any questions or problem Ive ever had, big or small Josh always has the solution. Also his wife Gina is so sweet and kind and works with you to help with literally anything. They both work together to make the most welcoming environment for K9s and humans alike. My Bailey boy had his first initial obedience class with Josh last night and by the end of the lesson he was sitting, heeling, walking on leash and obeying all of Joshs commands. Josh made both him and I feel very confident and put us both at ease. His passion for dog training and rehabilitation training for dogs with behavioral and aggression issues is very apparent. Josh is very kind, knowledgeable and passionate about the work he does. If you bring your dog to him for obedience classes you will not be disappointed. Fearless K9 is definitely 5 stars.

Josh is amazing. He has helped us tremendously with our 2 puppies. We have an 8 month old pit mix and a 6 month purebreed Doberman. They are a handful. With his help and training techniques we now have a better handful on our babies.

Highly recommend Josh at Fearless K9! He is extremely knowledgeable, always happy to answer questions, and very skilled at handling all types of dogs - from tiny chihuahuas to giant mastiffs! My Boerboel, who is now 2, began attending Josh’s puppy classes when he was 12 weeks old and we also had several private lessons. Boerboels can be a challenging breed, but Josh helped lay a strong foundation. Regina is always super responsive when I have called, even months after we had moved away and could no longer see them regularly anymore.

Weve been with Fearless K9 from the first week that we adopted our dog (and needed help!). Josh does an excellent job tailoring his methods to best match your dogs temperament, genetics, and personality. He provides clear actions and methods to follow that quickly yield results. I have been working closely with Josh Jacobson for the better part of 3 years now. Fearless K9 is the reason how i found my calling with training dogs and i now run a part time business doing so. i have worked with K9 teams in law enforcement and other trainers in the area. Let me be clear, josh has the formula. for too long have i have seen dogs turned away by other trainers. i have never seen josh turn a dog away. hes clear and concise in his instructions and tells you the truth.i consulted with josh years ago before purchasing a Malinois named wrecker and he wouldnt be 10% of the dog he is today if it wasnt for josh and his expertise. We loved Josh. He was very professional since day one which had us hooked. He gave us all the tips and knowledge we need to continue towards our goals with our pup. Unfortunately due to personal schedules/life we cannot go as often as we’d like but we will definitely continue to use Josh throughout our dogs life/milestone life events. We have been to three trainers and Fearless K9 by far exceeds all the others.

Had an amazing experience here. The owners know thier canine psychology. I thought we were going to be running our 4 dogs through training exercises. Instead they made us understand the hierarchy or the pack and how to use the natural tools at our disposal to change the culture of our animals at home. We went from an Alpha situation to a teamwork environment with our dogs at home. We have seen measured improvement with our animals in only a week of implementing the training given to us. Of course, there is room to improve, but Fearless K9 helped us go from a scary situation with a severe dog fight at home, to a controlled environment using our management tools as we make a bigger impact on our how dogs act around ourselves and each other. Im glad we put in the time, energy and money with Fearless and will be putting our training to work for the rest of our lives.

We REALLY like working with Josh. We reached out to Fearless K9 for help with our dog’s leash reactivity after having exhausted our options trying to combat it on our own. We had read dozens of books, watched videos, read blogs, forums, and Reddit threads—you name it! We researched everything—and had even worked with a few local trainers in our area but we felt that they were just regurgitating everything we had already read or learned online. Josh is amazing. We were referred here by our dog’s (6 month old Black Lab) first trainer after the trainer told us he was unable to correct some of our dog’s behavioral issues. In comes Josh. Josh taught us how to fix these issues in our initial assessment. Josh explained to us how our black lab puppy isn’t your typical black lab, but is more like Belgian Malinois and needs strict structure and strong leaders to succeed. With this knowledge, we have been able to see a huge transformation in our dog’s behaviors in a matter of hours. Our dog has never listened this well. Josh is awesome at what he does. Our dog would not go to the bathroom at our new apartment complex, and has severe anxiety. At our first appointment, Josh gave us so much valuable information and our dog was going to the bathroom regularly within a couple days after we implanted the strategies he gave us. She is much better on the leash, much less aggressive toward people, and we seriously don’t know what we would have done without his help.

I 💯 recommend Josh and fearless K-9! I learned so much about both myself and my dog. Josh was able to diagnose that my Great Dane was not aggressive, but insecure. He came up with a plan that I was comfortable with and taught me how to use tools I was comfortable with in training my dog. I have two dogs that have struggled with different issues, but Josh continues to give me tool and make a happier/more confident dog. Best trainer ever! Hes helping us be more consistent with training our puppy and reinforcing that our breed matures slower than others and will take a bit more time. He was a huge help with our leash work. He also helped with our dogs problem with peeing in non home areas.Well worth the money we spent!

Fearless K9 has become a life changing experience for my dog. Before Josh my girlfriend and I would be scared to take our dogs on a walk to do their reactivity. When we made the decision to bring home a German Shepherd puppy, we knew that we wanted to find a trainer who understood the breed and could teach us as well as the dog. Josh was very highly recommended so we started bringing Murphy for lessons when he was a few months old. Best decision ever! Josh is able to teach you how to see things from the dogs point of view; I found myself saying throughout each class why didnt I think about that?...Josh is so knowledgeable about how to work, not only with the genetics of the breed, but with the specific dog. We find that Murphy is very happy to follow instructions and learn new things when its presented to him correctly so he understands what is expected from him. He has made steady progress, going from being overreactive, constantly barking at people and dogs and not much fun to bring places, to being much calmer, much more in control and a great walking partner.We look forward to joining obedience classes in August and well see where it goes from there!We do not hesitate to recommend Josh to people who are just getting a puppy and want to get off to a good start, or to those who have a dog that has issues to work on.

Fearless K9 was exactly what we needed and still use. We did tons of research before deciding to get a Belgian Malinois. We also knew that we would need to partner with a good trainer. We were very lucky to find Josh and Fearless K9 (actually Gina found us at Beacon Barks!). We have been working with Josh for almost 6 years now. Pepper is trained in Advanced Obedience, Protection and some scent work. It has been an amazing journey. We started with Josh when she was a few months old, worked on obedience, building her confidence and directing her drive. Josh is patient, open to trying new things, works to understand what is driving behaviors and creates workable solutions. It’s all about creating a relationship with your dog and being fair. He takes the time to explain the concepts and answer questions. Even with a trained 6 year old we encounter new things to be worked on. Josh is always there for us. The weekly classes are so much fun! We get the opportunity to try out our skills in a safe environment with other dogs and distractions. It’s one thing to say your dog is trained and will sit/stay on command, but will they when 5 other dogs are in the room with various levels of energy? We look forward to every training session. Pepper actually knows the words “Do you want to go to bite club?” and will run to the car. She loves class. We can’t say enough about Josh and his training style. We would recommend him to anyone with any type of dog and any type of issue.

We were in a very unfamiliar situation with our chocolate lab. Having had 4 prior, we thought all labs were the same. But that was not the case with Hank. Hank had began to show aggression/hierarchy issues and we had no idea what to do. I did my research, spoke with Regina and thought this was what we needed, a perfect fit. We began training with Josh at Fearless K9 in December 2022. Our first session was an intense learning experience for myself and my family. The knowledge and dedication that Josh showed to us blew us away. Weve worked with Fearless K9 on and off for the last 5 years and highly recommend Josh and his team. I brought home a Dutch Shepherd puppy without truly understanding what owning one of these working dogs is like. I would have been way over my head if not for Fearless K9. Josh takes the time to really explain my dogs behaviors from a genetic standpoint and the training needed to shape them into an obedient and happy pet. I probably wouldn’t have been able to handle my high drive girl without Josh and our lessons every week and I can’t recommend him highly enough.

We have had a great experience working with Josh! He’s very knowledgeable and great to work with. We have a Giant Schnauzer and Josh has greatly educated us on communicating with and training our dog. Josh at FEARLESS K9 is the most knowledgeable trainer I have ever spoken with. His understanding of canine genetics and psychology is very impressive. But what is more impressive (and important in my eyes) is how he was able to build the right training plan that made sense to both my dog and to me, just based on what he was seeing! My sweet puppy has been enrolled in Puppy classes, I’ve have learned so much as a dog owner and she has grown in a postive direction. Moments when I questioned myself Josh stepped in to reassure and teach me tricks in creating a good relationship with my fur baby. Then I had to board her for a couple days while I went away. We called Josh when we started fostering dogs and our current dogs werent allowing anyone new into the home without a fight. He took the time to explain their behavior to us and offer solutions that worked for our household. When we got our most recent dog and she was being extremely aggressive we immediately called Josh! If you read all those reviews it means you are looking for help for your precious puppy like me. To say in one sentence “ You have come to the right place.” In January we welcomed to our family a GSD. His name is Uzi. I trained him as best as I could. But I knew sooner or later I will need help from someone who is an expert in these breeds because I don’t have time for mistakes. I don’t like methods with treats, so I contacted Fearless K9 and the person who I spoke with was very helpful. Her name is Regina. She is very patient and a good listener. I remember when she said come and see if you wanted to train your dog with us. And also she was worried that they are too far from me since I live in Rockland NY. So I came without my dog to see a class. And I was very happy to see a class with Josh. For me it was European style it means no treats just hard work and I love it.I can tell you Josh is another dog whisperer 100% and beyond. After a while I’m not stressed about my issue with my dog anymore. We will enjoy walking, playing and coming to Fearless K9 classes. I wish all of you to have awesome people around you to help with your dog’s problems.

We were referred to Josh by a friend when we were at point where we didnt know how to handle our dog and her aggression. Josh came to our house and worked on a plan to not only train our dog but us. Through lessons, practice and patience we now have a dog that we have an amazing bond with. We understand what she needs, we understand that consistency is the key to her success and we have this amazing obedient off leash trained dog. If you had told me before we started working with Josh that Id have that dog that listens, can be trusted off leash, that neighbors rave about how obedient she is, I wouldnt have believed you. Because of what weve accomplished with Josh my dog has gone on to do protection work, scent detection and trailing. I was having some issues with my 2 year old (now 3) GSD/ husky George. He became dog reactive on our walks, to the point where I dreaded going in fear of his wild outbursts. He also had some other behaviors towards people coming into our home . I knew with his age and breed (and his size) that I needed help before something bad happened. I chose Josh because, well i saw he had 5 star reviews, and after talking to him on the phone he was so knowledgeable about genetics and of course dog training! And I did my research I might add and talked to a lot of trainers before I went with Josh. We started privet lessons and Josh taught me techniques and recommended tools that have helped us so much. Today George’s reactivity is almost nonexistent and our relationship is so much better, he respects me and looks to me for guidance today instead of me coddling him and him ruling the house. He’s an overall more balanced dog who now knows how to be neutral and we enjoy our daily walks! If we do run into any obstacles I know I have the tools and knowledge to handle it. I would tell anyone to goto Josh for their dog training needs!

Josh is a fantastic trainer and he has helped us immensely over the years with our rescue dog Raven. She was quite a handful for us but through working with Fearless K9 we were able to acquire the knowledge and practical skills that are vital for achieving success. Highly recommend!

Josh with Fearless k9 is honestly one of the best trainers around. I have trained with others with obedience , personal protection and schutzund and I can tell you there are very few people as knowledgable as Josh. I continue to work with Josh regarding many issues and training methods with various situations. Josh not only trains your dog but works and trains the handler. Josh being a foundation style dog trainer is hands down THE best method there is.

Started bringing my malinois here for puppy socialization classes and here we are 7 months later doing bite work. Josh is top notch and has helped me develop my dog into a fine companion. His wife Gina is also really sweet too.

Josh helped us with our extremely stubborn great dane Blue. We had taken him to group classes and private lessons at petco without any change in behavior. Once josh started helping us Blue started listening right away and showed us how to keep him under control and respect both of us. He used to be completely out of control but now we can take him off leash with no issues. Josh will set up a plan tailored to your dog with immediate results.

Of all the things that I have heard from dog trainers and behavior specialists, Josh’s approach is what makes most sense to me. He is patient and kind in his approach, but also very real with with you about whatever you are dealing with. I look forward to working with him again soon.

Maya was abused in the months before I rescued her and had a traumatic start to her doggy life. She was always timid with new people but very happy. She was my world for 6 years before I got married and had a child, as she was expected to share more and more of my time and affection, she became overly territorial. While this

I got nova from someone on Facebook at 6 months old. I was under the impression that she had at least basic training. Although I was falling in love with this sweet girl, she was horribly untrained. She couldn’t even sit, and wasn’t potty trained at all. My sister and I tried to train her but she would aggressively bark at us, jump, and bite us and other people. As months went by and little to no success, I contemplated giving her away but I chose to go to a professional trainer instead. From day one Josh was extremely informative, and my sister and I could tell he knew exactly what to do to help us. After only two or three training sessions, nova was a completely changed dog! As Josh helped us train her, she became more confident with what our expectations were, which made her overall a more confident dog. She learned a ton of commands as in: sit, down, climb, free, off, out, okay, heal, come, and how to walk on and off leash. I think the best part about how Josh trains is that it’s completely tailored to you and your dogs needs. He always asked us what we wanted to fix and never pushed us to train her on things that weren’t issues for us specifically. Another thing that we loved was how Josh broke everything down and helped us understand the pit bull breeds and how they have to be trained differently than other dogs based on their genetics. He even informed us on supplements and choosing the right kind of dog food, which were things that never even crossed our minds. Lastly, Josh definitely does an amazing job training dogs, but he does an even better job training us. Most of the commands success was based entirely on our handling. He taught us how to be consistent, and efficient in order to progress faster with Nova. We are so great full for Josh because after only 8 lessons Nova went from 0 training, to a confident off leash dog. Josh helped us create a “team” relationship with her, and our bond has never been stronger. The knowledge we learned training with him we will have for a lifetime!

Josh is fantastic. He wont tell you what you want to hear and he wont expect perfection from you. He comes prepared to listen, provide unfiltered information and the tools to use to proceed with your animal. After just a couple of hours of learning how to look at things from a dogs POV totally changes so many things. Josh is great. He knows his stuff and I highly recommend him to all dog owners. I cannot begin to explain how grateful I am for Fearless K9! I moved back to the area with a poorly trained, out of hand 80lb, 15 month old American Bully puppy. I had tried other trainers in the past and was given poor tools that didn’t work and then was ultimately told I had an untrainable dog. But he started to show signs of what I thought was aggression and I never felt I had control of the situation, which ended up in me avoiding certain situations and keeping him crated just to avoid the reality that I could not control him. I really was so afraid of what might happen, given his breed and his temperament. So I decided to do a little more research on trainers and found Fearless K9. With only 6 sessions, over an 8 week time frame, I have a completely different dog! Josh understands that different breeds have different quirks and he works with different techniques based on how your dog responds ! He creates a trusting relationship with you and your dog in order to have optimal obedience and will never go to the bandaid fix! He will push the uncomfortable situations to ensure if they ever arise in real life they are controllable! What I thought was aggression in my dog was lack of proper leadership and a poor relationship with my dog and I.I will continue to use Fearless K9 for my current dog and any future dogs!

Josh has helped so much with my daughter’s dog, who was a rescue and terrified of everything. He is very knowledgeable and I can not say enough good things about Fearless K9. Highly recommend!

I’ve been with josh at fearless k9 going on 2 years now. Smoky and I (as a dog handler) would not be in the position we are today. I would not work with anyone else with my mal besides him. Highly recommended! He’s not only a great trainer but became great friends with him and his family. He doesn’t just train your dog and leave. He became smokys family.

I just LOVE and HIGHLY recommend this place!!!!I took my dog ( 5yrs old rescue pittbul Sami) to ANOTHER place and because of his excessive reactivity we were asked to leave. The trainer never responded back to me when I reached out to her afterwards 🙁My husband find FearlessK9 online and Meeting Josh and his apprentice Joe was like a day and nite experience in compare to the other place! Josh is very professional, knowledgeable and knows his stuff for sure, especially when it comes to reactive dogs.He spent over 2 hrs with me and Sami ( who loves people , but is reactive to other dogs) just to see what his issue is and explained everything clearly and even showed me couple things to do to start with at home.His wife/secretary Regina is just a darling :)! I called couple of times to ask some more questions and I always got an answer or was called back, if I couldn’t reach her right away. She even has snacks and drinks at the training facility for you 😄 lolThis place is like one big doggie family where everybody makes you feel welcome and is willing tohelp!

I can’t say enough good things 100% professional Josh handled my dog on a level I didn’t know a dog can go to my dog lived with Josh and his family for two months I was in shock when my dog came back and my dog came back and listened to me just as well as he listened to Josh so if you ever thought that sending your dog out and away from home to be trained didn’t work you’re wrong my dog came back like a little machine Josh handled everyone in my family on their level and 100% professional answered the phone and any questions we had all the time still to this day I can call fearless k9 and they will answer the phone and help me tweak anything I need ..or come for a visit I could bring my dog to visit them etc. Fearlessk9 is a top-notch training facility with top-notch trainer and is more than just a business but is like family. If you are not training with fearless K9 then you’re only be able to stay with the back of the pack fearlessk9 will have you lead that pack

Josh was the fifth trainer that I met with and as soon as he told me what my dog, Cooper (an almost 2-year old German Shepherd), needed, I knew he was the one I wanted to train Cooper. I liked that he wasn’t a ‘one size fits all’ kind of trainer, in that he recognized that every dog is an individual. He explained why Cooper is aggressive toward other dogs and presented a plan to curb this aggression. We started with basic obedience and Cooper has done quite well so far. Cooper has a long way to go, but I am very happy with his progress. It just confirms that I made the right choice by going with Josh for his training. He is very knowledgeable and always takes the time to to answer any question(s) I have. I highly recommend Josh to resolve any issues anyone might have with his/her dog.UPDATE: Josh has been working with my Cooper for quite a while now. I can now walk Cooper and he doesn’t lunge anymore when he sees another dog. He is 102#, and when he lunges, it’s hard to hold him. Josh still walks with us periodically, but mostly corrects me and not Cooper. I still highly recommend Josh. i really believe he can correct any problem(s) someone has with their dog.
