Took my boy cat here for vet treatment multiple times over the summer and had to deal with an extremely rude vet that doesnt really like cats we were told by another employee at the shelter. HUH?? He literally scolded my mother and made her cry. We took my baby boy cat here because there was blood in his urine, then he had an issue where he was throwing up a lot, and they always said it was anxiety or stress related and put him on anxiety meds. We took him back multiple times after because he wasnt eating or he was throwing everything up, and they continued to say it was stress related and put him on different anxiety medication. Well turns out, it was cancer. He had a mass in his stomach and although we took him so many times over the summer they did not notice. My baby boy passed away September 2nd, the DAY we found out he had cancer because we took him to an animal hospital instead. The mass had grown so big it was pressing on his organs and he was struggling to breathe. We were forced to put him down because he was suffering at this point. I am absolutely heartbroken, and I am furious with the quality of care here. DO BETTER!!!!
I can not say enough great things about HVARs. They have been our vet since the start. Recently we had to put our beloved chihuahua down and it was the hardest decision we have ever made. They helped guide us and took the time with us to go over options to decide on what to do with our boy. In the end we did decide to put him down and they were so compassionate and sympathetic with us and treated us like family. We also take our other pets there and they have the patience of saints with our other crazy dogs! Not to mention they are the most reasonable around for vet services. The vet techs are top notch and we love the vets and office staff! If you’re looking for a vet, check them out! You will be glad you did.
I have taken a few cats to HVARS over the years and always found their services to be adequate, affordable, and relatively quick. One thing you must understand about them (before you go) is that they are BUSY. The place is always packed with cars there, and they are seeing A LOT of animals on a daily basis. After my experience at other vets in the area, this is something that I respect about this place. The staff doesnt have time to coddle you however they provide the best care for your pet that they can.
Great place. Took my girl KC in right away after finding out she would needed surgery. Very kind and polite. Would recommend to anyone. I’m an hour away and still will use them for my pets. When I went in. Couldn’t believe the amount of work happening. And the staff was excellent. I would say I was very impressed! Top notch! Keep it up!
Love HVARS! Dr. Singer and Ashley take such great care of my baby. They are very knowledgeable and super gentle. My dog can get super anxious about the visits but they keep him calm and relaxed. Thank you!!
Horrible!!! Dr Higgins was rude and very unprofessional! I was never told I needed blood work prior to my dog being spayed until after I dropped her off the day of her surgery. Reason being- “staff is new and they don’t know what to do” Blood work was taken and Dr Higgins send out the sample incorrectly and was told it would have to be redone. Meanwhile, this appointment was made 2 months prior between my dog’s heat cycle. So disappointing in the incompetence of the Dr and staff. Do not recommend this place at all. Should have been informed of testing needed PRIOR to surgery day not after my dog was dropped off. Situation should have been handled in a more professional & kind manner. Your response to my review is well written but in fact you left out the way the entire situation was handled from start to finish. If you’re going to respond include the reason for my dissatisfaction and lack of professionalism.
Don’t second guess it. Thee best to ever do it in the Hudson Valley! Love the staff and their parking system. Going to the vet can be daunting when it comes to cost - not here! Prices are great and the care your pet receives is tender and thoughtful.
What a shame that this establishment is down the road from us yet completely impossible to adopt from. We’ve tried twice. When we went in person everyone in there had an attitude and we were not greeted we had to catch the attention of someone to ask if kittens were available for adoption. We got denied because my female cat at home is 18, and they said we could not take home a kitten, only 4+ months old. I explained that this will not work as she’s raised 2 other kittens she’s a mama, a tween cat would be a threat and stressful. I received NO response. We took a drive down to SPCA in briarcliff manor NY and left with an 8 weeks old baby and my girl is doing great! She’s already taken the mother roll on. While I understand there a rules for a reason; not everyone’s animals are cookie cutter to their rules. We Know our cat! Adopt don’t shop, yet these places make it impossible. I do not recommend at all. Take the drive to SPCA in Briarcliff Manor NY FRIENDLY & KNOWLEDGEABLE STAFF & immaculate facility! It’s worth the drive.
Ive known these people for a very long time I cant tell you how many times Samantha and her mother Celie have been there for me. From an injured fox in my garage to the countless animals I have had to say goodbye to there...regardless of what else was happening I always got the privacy and the time I needed to say goodbye. Recently I hit a possum but he was still alive I will never leave them behind. But I didnt know what to do I needed help nobody would answer. Samantha was in the middle of an exam and still she was the one that responded and helped me. They presently have an outstanding team of people. Hard workers. Patient with people who show up at their facility half out of their minds....I have seen these girls take the brunt repeatedly when it was not their fault, and I think that is because ultimately they really do care, and they want to help your animal regardless of what it takes to accomplish that. Most importantly they all know what they are doing and they are efficient. PS they love it when you volunteer and walk their dogs too :))
The staff and Services are wonderful and affordable. Dr. Singer has been there a long time and is very knowledgeable. They also have animals looking for a home. Very grateful that we have them in our area.
I recommend this place if you love your pets like I do mine you bring him or her here excellent doctors and nurses
What a wonderful place! We became interested in this shelter initially because we saw a dog we thought we liked on petfinder. Our 15 year old dog recently pass away and we wanted to find another dog join our family. Sam must be the rescue whisperer because she matched us with the sweetest lab/pit mix. Its only been a few days, we are getting to know each other still of course but he (Michelin now Theo) and our other dog are already having fun and bonding together. The application process was thorough as was our interview to help find a truly good match personality, size, and temperament. Not the dog we first saw in photos who was not a good a fit based on our individual situation and that dogs personality and various traits. I can see why they have been winning Hudson Valley Magazines Best Pet Rescue 2 years in a row!
Brought our 12 yo cat for some dental work. Needed several extractions. We dropped her off at 8 then picked her up around 5. Went perfectly and the service was great, and the price is probably the best in the area.
HVARS provided low-cost vet service to a stray that lives outside my apartment building who is fixed, and fed by our neighbors. They were compassionate, caring and took care of an animal in need without charging us a large fee. That was several years ago and kitty is still alive and well.
Great place to adopt a cat or dog. Adopted our pretty dog there and are totally pleased with the whole experience. It is a great sin that dogs from the south have been so mistreated. We need to give her much love and attention in order for her to heal. HVRS is careing and loving to the animals.
Bugs all over my dog!!! *** MY RESPONSE TO YOUR REVIEW AS I CANNOT RESPOND WITH ANOTHER POST. WE BROUGHT KIWI 2 DAYS AFTER WE FOUND THE DOG CHEWING LICE TO ANOTHER VETERINARIAN. KIWI HAD A CLEAN BILL OF HEALTH THERE AND WHILE DURING THE VISIT THAT IS WHERE THE VET SAID WE CONTRACTED THE LICE BECAUSE OF THE DATE WE WENT TO YOUR CLINIC AND THE SIZE OR MATURITY OF THE LICE MATCHED UP TO THE EXACT DATES WE WERE AT YOUR ESTABLISHMENT. AND AS FOR OUR UNFORTUNATE VISIT TO YOUR PLACE A CLEAN BILL OF HEALTH AS IN KIWIS HOT SPOTS CLEARED UP WITH THE FOOD CHANGE AND THE PRESCRIPTION MEDICATION YOU GUYS RECOMMENDED. THAT CLEARED UP VERY QUICKLY AND WERE VERY PLEASED. HIS HOT SPOTS HAVE BEEN GONE AND NOT CAME BACK SINCE THE REMEDIATION YOU RECOMENDED. NO ONE CALLED MY WIFE OR REACHED OUT THAT IS A LIE! THIS DOES NOT CHANGE THE FACT THAT HE CONTRACTED THE **BUGS** FROM YOUR FACILITY AND NO ONE REACHED OUT UNTIL MAGICALLY I LEFT A REVIEW ON YOUR BUSINESS. ITS VERY SIMPLE MY DOG WAS TREATED FOR HOT SPOTS THOSE CLEARED UP HE DID NOT HAVE FLEAS OR LICE DURING YOUR VISIT AND HE CONTRACTED THEM FROM YOUR FACILITY AND WHEN WE REACHED OUT YOU IGNORED OUR CONCERN UNTIL A BAD REVIEW ON GOOGLE. JUST GOES TO SHOW YOUR CUSTOMER SERVICE AS I WAS REACHING OUT MORE OR LESS TO WARN YOU GUYS OF YOUR ISSUE TO PREVENT OTHERS TO HAVE TO DEAL WITH THIS AFYER THEY GO TO YOUR FACILITY!! This is my first ever review of a place! Extremely disappointing customer service. Took my dog several weeks ago for immunizations. He got a positive clean bill of health . Shortly after visiting there my dog started itching. We assumed it was due to the food change as recommended by the staff. After a few days we discovered he was covered in chewing lice and fleas. We have never ever had a problem with this before. I mean we have never ever had an issue before and the size of the lice versus our visit date was spot on!!! We have been battling this issue on and off for weeks now. I know stuff happens its a vet clinic. HOWEVER ZERO RESPONSES FROM THEM AFTER MY EMAIL AS I WANTED TO KEEP IT QUIET NOT TO DISRUPT ANYTHING FOR THEM. Magically weeks later still not a single reply to our attempts to reach out and atleast let them know the issue to prevent others and atleast a recomendation as what to do. Its to the point my dog is starting to suffer!!! Super disappointing!!!!
This is a top-notch rescue and sanctuary. The adoption application was easy. The staff immediately contacted me and have kept in touch even after the adoption was complete. They offer veterinary services to the community, and I really liked how thorough they were in evaluating and treating the animals. I came because they took animals from a rescue I support in Nassau, Bahamas. They have a massive facility that allows large intake numbers, which is incredible. The volunteers were very friendly and helpful. It is definitely worth the drive (7 hours total) to find your new family friend. The only suggestion I have is to get pet photos up a bit sooner, along with descriptions. However, I understand that its a time-consuming process. At all events, I cannot recommend them enough. Great place!
I brought my cat to HVARS after she was having trouble going to the bathroom. They told me she was ostipated It was a very scary situation but the staff but my worries at ease. They performed a procedure the same day and saved my girls life .I would absolutely recommend HVARS the staff treats you like family, They go above and beyond.Thank you again HVARS
About a year ago I adopted Poppy and shes the greatest dog ever! Our adoption coordinator had helped my Boston, Zara, find a new friend. Poopy is such a great fit and listens so great. Was easy to train and house broken within a day! Poopy has changes our life for sure!
Staff are very responsive and knowledgeable. You can tell they all work so hard and care for all the animals. My fiancé and I have received nothing but the best care for our cats. 10/10 recommend. We adopted an amazing cat from HVARS!
HVARS have wonderful, compassionate employees. The veterinarian is amazing. They’re always able to fit me into their schedule whenever I have an emergency with my cats I would highly recommend them they are always affordable.
I just took our dog Miley to HVARS for her Lyme and Lepto vaccines along with some heartworm pills. The staff there were extremely nice and helpful. Ashley is very knowledgeable and kind. I would highly recommend bringing your pets to HVARS.It is a safe, clean and friendly place. I was very pleased with how they took such good care of Miley. Miley and I thank you guys so much for all your help.- Tony and Miley
Just adopted my dog and my daughter got the brother of the litter. They made the process so easy. I highly recommended if your looking to get a rescue.
I have adopted several animals from them over the years. Its an amazing organization that takes on many of the cases other local rescues cant or wont. They get no funding from the county or state like some other rescues. The staff is professional and caring. I see there are some trolls out there making recent comments about the adoption process. Im 100 percent certain they were denied for good reason and some people just cant deal with rejection.
We adopted a new kitten, and it went seamlessly. Henry is home and thriving
Hudson Valley Animal Rescue was beyond helpful to me !!!! A fellow rehabber gave me their phone number as I found a baby raccoon, and as a rabies vector they can’t just go anywhere. The woman I spoke with on the phone was lovely, kind, and polite. When I arrived the staff warmly welcomed the baby raccoon that I had found trapped in a wire mesh. As I filled out the paper work for “Robert” (the baby raccoon), I heard the staff fawn all over him and it warmed my heart, as I knew I had found the right place for this tiny creature to get help. Thank you so much HVAR!!!!
Love this place, have taken all my cats here to get all there shots, neutered and spayed. They offer great affordable services, I always recommend this place to anyone who has pets.
This organization is a nightmare for true caring animal lovers. They literally are a bait and switch operation. My baby who is only 6 lb was only supposed to have three teeth removed. They took every single tooth out of her mouth and they literally charged me more money than they said and their claim was it was for the sutures. Well guess what? How do you not add that into the estimate? Of course youre going to need sutures when you take a tooth out of a dog ,seriously . Worst of all ,they did not even call me to let me know that they were going to take all of her 19 teeth out or I would have said no. I will take her for a second opinion. I have a trusted veterinarian that I use. Sadly she does not do tooth removal so she told me that my little girl ginger Su only needed three teeth out. The rest of her teeth were quite strong and I have taken her to this vet her entire life. She has scraped The plaque off and taken care of her teeth twice a year every year. To top it off they charged me over $30 for using a credit card. I do not have that kind of money extra. My husband is on disability due to a brain tumor and I asked them. Could I please come in and pay them cash and they reverse the charges they literally said nope. You should have read the signs and hung up on me. If that is not an organization that cares about money only, I dont know what is. Please do not ever support hvars. They are literally not in it for the animals. They are clearly in it for the money only. It really bothered me because I told my little Ginger when I adopted her that I would never let anyone hurt her again as she was quite abused when I got her from the humane society. But I feel like I let her down because I trusted these people and it turns out they hurt her more than anyone could have.
We tried multiple times to adopt a animal. We were approved with our application. They said 12-2 was available for anyone to show up and look at animals and adopt. The lied, when we showed up no one came outside. We called and no one answered the phone. Its just sad to look at a cat and to get attached and not be able to adopt them even after being told you can ...... DO NOT SUPPORT THEM NOR TRY TO ADOPT FROM THEMThey refused service and claimed we were rude after a statement. They asked me to delete my review. Said they could provide service if I deleted it. Then I said something that she felt was offensive. My review worked. Were in the USA we have freedom of speech. They had us head back there they canceled last minute. They hung up on us many times previously. They keep deleting my reviews. I will keep posting my experience. Please support better shelters who actually love the animals like the SPCAWe were finally able to adopt a cat from another shelter who was cared for and healthy and will continue to be cared for and healthy. If youre looking to adopt I recommend looking for shelters near you. Not this one tho skip HVARS
I had a great experience adopting these 2 doggies from the hudson valley animal rescue. They came from Puerto Rico and needed to be adopted together and I am so glad and happy I did.
Affordable and helped neuter my pet. Did not provide cone so bring one with you.
I have rescued two beautiful dogs from HVARS and continue to bring them both and my other older dog to their clinic. Every employee is always kind and caring to my dogs. I have also gone to their clinic to put my older dog down and the staff was so empathetic to my family and I during the process, I couldn’t imagine going anywhere else to say goodbye to him. I highly recommend HVARS to find your forever family member and their clinic!
Everyone is wonderful and so compassionate. Forever bringing my fur-babies to them 😊
This place has been just amazing and a godsend for all our animals. The staff is caring and helpful. Things like prescription refills are cake walk. Overall just a wonderful and consistent experience for years!
Such a caring and dedicated staff. The way they run their Feral Spay Clinic is a Godsend to TNR groups. It enables us to make the biggest impact on colonies by not having to make an appointment on 2 days a month. Those ferals are not always cooperative when it comes to appointments! Weve been able to fix 9 in the last 2 months. Thats 5 females that will not have kittens this spring.
Great place all around. I’ve been following there events and they do a great job all around from employees to there care for there animals.
Brought my kitty here yesterday when she was pretty sick. The vets cleaned her carrier she pooped in for me and also cleaned her up a bit too. They were open and honest with pricing and procedures. Granted, they didnt consult me before giving her medication or fluids, which could have been an issue because Im on a shoestring budget, but their prices are reasonable enough it really made up for it. 75$ total for a physical exam, subq fluids, an anti nausea medicine, and an appetite stimulant. Pretty good compared to most other places nearby.
Words cannot amount to how grateful I am for this place. My female Belgian Malinois, Penny, needed to get spayed urgently. I had called over 50+ places in 1 day because I was so desperately looking for a place that was not only reasonably priced but also highly reputable. Last Tuesday (4/25), I had called and they had a last minute cancelled for TODAY (5/5). I literally cried happy tears. When I had rescued Penny at 4 months, I faced many challenges with socializing her due to her missing that critical period to get socialized; but the staff and the vet, Elizabeth, were absolutely so caring and compassionate. Elizabeth greeted Penny by letting her smell her & her stethoscope (little detail that makes me smile!!) and helped Penny’s anxiety with a medication to calm her down. They had taken her in first to be operated in the morning which was the best ever!! She had a quick surgery and they sent us home with painkillers to help her intense recovery. I live in southern Connecticut and I wish I lived so much closer, I would have my other fur babies go here too! They gave me easy and very informative after care to ensure the most safe & comfortable recovery for my girl. She has now been relaxing ever since I brought her home. This place is so cute, they have chickens and cute lil cats/kittens everywhere outside!! I am forever grateful for this vet office.
Just the best and most caring people ever! From the moment we walked in with my cat until the end of our visit. Went way above and beyond to care for our baby. Sam took care of us and was completely focused on us even though she was busy with 100 other things ! I cant say enough about our experience there! Highly recommend them !
I cannot tell you how thankful for them. I could not rescue 10 feral cats in a year without their help. Their service is great for ferals. Financially it is huge support for me. I got many things free or cost almost nothing from them. They also helped me get kittens adopted. I felt so grateful to have them in the Hudson Valley area.
Amazing group... Patient, kind, and helpful! We ended up with two of the greatest pups I have ever seen. Thank you!
Lovely and friendly staff and good wellness Vet care. Very reasonably priced.
I was always happy with them until recently. 1st I brought my old dog because his face was swollen all over..it was full of fluid. Before they even took blood they said he was dying and that he wasnt going to make it thru the weekend to keep him comfortable. I went home and told my kids and husband the news...everyone was devastated. Well I took warm compresses to his face all weekend and then my kitten gave him a tiny puncture on his cheek and all the fluid drained out...hes fine 3 months later. Fast forward to this month...I noticed my other dog was limping so I made an appointment. Brought my boy in and explained he was limping and didnt know why. They came and said hes limping because his toe nail had a small crack. Asked if he was drinking more water than normal, I said no. They proceeded to tell me that he may be doing it and I didnt notice. That he lost weight since he had been there for his rabies vaccine. Then said they thought his kidneys were failing and that I just needed to keep him comfortable during this time. They did do blood work up, but results would be in the following week. I watched my dog all weekend and noticed he wasnt eating as much, and limping more. I called hvars on Monday and said I think your wrong. Hes not drinking more than normal but eating less and I thought his mouth is sore. Now mind you when I came home from the vet I once again told my entire family our dog was going to die. While on the phone with the vet telling her hes in pain she said oh I just got his lab results let me check it...then said oh his kidneys look fine he has lyme disease. So 2 times they said my dogs were going to die without any labs in front of them and wasting precious times to take care of whats really going on. Im so frustrated that they did that to my dogs and family. They thought giving pain meds was the way to handle bought situations. Now my dog with lyme is fighting for his life! Maybe if they did more than just assume we couldve started a regimen for him sooner. If you love your pets do not go here for anything that may be serious!
🛑🛑🛑🛑🛑I highly do not recommend this place. I have tried working with HVRS for a year and they are rude and careless. They don’t keep records and disregard past visits. I took my dog multiple times and they gave me the same medication because they said it was something new every time. After a while I realized they kept giving me the same medicine and had not checked past records. They once gave my dog a rabies shot because they didn’t have a record when they were the ones who gave it to her 😣. After I showed them and told them it wasn’t okay, they said sorry “we wont charge you”.It’s not always about money. Do not put your dogs care in the hand of someone who doesn’t care.
I’ve taken all my pets here for the past few years. They’ve always helped my pets get better when they’ve gotten sick, and made my pets healthier. They also cost lower than many vets in the area. They’ve gotten a lotttt busier recently, but it’s understandable because they are great!!!
Very beautiful shelter with amazing staff and amazing animals. They are very lovely and caring. I adopted multiple Cats from them. Would highly recommend anyone Interested to definitely take a visit there.
Used to be an affordable place to take your pet. That is no longer the case. You use to be able to call and reach someone on the 2nd ring, that is no longer the case. They pick up the phone after several rings then put you on hold. And this is for emergency calls or to tell you theem your out side for appointment. For all other things you need to leave a message. The price of medication is outrageous. $130 for a month of antibiotics is nuts
I was referred to HVAR from a friend. My local vet was charging 2x the cost to get dental work and vaccinations. I am in Ct the drive was worth it!! I saved a ton of money and was happy with the service I received. Will be back
They are always helpful and knowledgeable. They spayed all our young cats at one time which is why we entrusted them with the care of our precious dogs as well.
They are an amazing group of people, the took care of my babies in under 30 minutes for the vaccines and a nail trim and they were very informative of everything that needed to be done for them! Highly highly recommend bringing your fur babies here rather than some others places.
Words cant describe how grateful I am to have this resource in our community. Their low-cost clinic offers medications and procedures at cost. When all of the other local vet offices wanted $150 or more to euthanize my pet rat that had cancer, they did it for $50.
They respond really quickly and are both a shelter and a clinic for animals. They responded the same day I emailed and I was able to book an appointment in two days. Very fast and the staff was very nice and quick to answer questions.
Its so encouraging whenever I come across an organization that shows pure love for what they are doing and in this case for the animals and thier owners. I had to help my daughter when she needed someone to pick up two stray cats that have become reliant on her. She had them spayed so that they would not be producing more cats without a home. The staff at HVARS were pleasant to me, but more importantly they radiated a true love for what they are doing and for the animals that they were caring for. It seems to be more about love than about money and that is always such an uplifting experience. Right on HVARS...you definitely have my admiration.
Many times with my 1 year old cat when I been in very tough situations they tried there best to see my cat in a emergency and I would always refer this place I been going there a year now and over they are great and they where very good even when my cat got spayed with them. They for sure what they do for the animals the love and devotion deserve to be blessed everyone there. If you want Dependable vet care this is it
I really dont care for this place. I personally feel like they dont care about animals. They refused me and a couple others from adoption even after approval. I got to witness my friend being disrespected and harassed by staff. I would just go to the spca. The animals here are not cated for.
Mean, grumpy workers from top to bottom. They will over book, leave you waiting for 50 minutes past your appointment and then make up some excuse, instead of just apologize and own their mistakes. Pretty much as low as you can get as far as veterinary services go.
I cant say enough about these folks. After being refused and getting the run around from my previous vet Community Animal Hospital, they took Bruce in with opened arms and did everything they could to assist in diagnosing and making my best friend comfortable. They were more than reasonable in costs and were accommodating in terms of sticking around for a bit when I was rushing back north to get my boy in for an x-ray before close. They even followed up a few days later out of compassion alone. I will be volunteering some of my time in return for their genuine care and attention to my situation.
The BEST veterinary services in the Hudson Valley. #The12590 is my zip code. The most affordable veterinary services as well. In the past, with other pets Ive owned, Ive had to request additional credit on my credit card in order to pay for veterinary services. Not here because they don’t rob pet owners to pay their bills.
They are absolutely awesome!! I have been trying, trying to get an appointment for 5 baby kittens with absolutely no avail!! Actually, I was told by the veterinarian how he is already working 70+hours this has absolutely nothing to do with you taking 5 minutes out of your time to look at these baby kittens which all have upper respiratory infections, plus eye infections, so now that he couldnt do that one of them will be losing his eye 😢💔This place is Hudson Veterinarian Clinic I had also tried calling Animal Kind with no response back from them as well so they couldnt find 5 minutes to take the time to look at these little babies!! Well if you are that busy then instead of having 6 veterinarian assistances(girls) working with you I would suggest you hire another veterinarian to help you out!! You couldnt even offer to give them an antibiotic or anything shame on you!! As for right now all of the babies are on treatment for the upper respiratory infections, eye infections, they were all treated for fleas as well so they are all so very grateful for the excellent care that they received from Hudson Valley Animal Rescue!!🥰😘❤🤗💕🙏🙌❤Will keep everyone updated on the little boy who has to have one of his eyes removed!! 😢💔😢💔His picture is the one that is posted
Very knowledgeable and friendly staff, the few conversations I had with them were very straight to the point and communication was very easy. However, I wish that I knew that this shelter did not adopt to college students. I was not informed of this policy even after speaking to someone on the phone regarding an application I had submitted. This policy is not on the rescues website and seems there is a disconnect between management and staff.Overall, this seems like a good rescue, but I think more transparency is needed. If youre a college student seeking an ESA I recommend looking elsewhere.
Adopted my new family member, a kitten, originally named Princess by the sanctuary but renamed Willow. She is a handful as all kittens but a great companion for my 7 year old boy who needed a playmate. Very impressed with the sanctuary. The staff are great and costs are very reasonable. Quick and friendly service. So happy to have found my new veterinary home.
Absolutely amazing staff !!! They really care for the animals and make them the first priority! My cat had to go in for surgery yesterday and they stayed after hours to make sure my car got the surgery in a timely manner! He’s already home and is super happy and already doing a lot better !! You also can’t beat their prices !! All around professional and excellent care !! Thank you SO much for saving our cat! 💙
I just took my 1yr and a half rottie for an appointment . I called and scheduled an appointment based on what i read on their site. Once i go in, they asked what i was there for , told them , then they said ‘if you read’ you have to call before coming in.I don’t think that’s a correct , polite way to state that i had to call before coming in.There is a small sign at each parking space stating to call. Most doctors offices /vets office make you aware of that over the phone when you’re actually scheduling an appointment. Then when i get in there is another woman that yells out , believes she worked there as well (‘ oh looks like a big unneutered rotty’.) that’s not even the word it’s intact to be correct. Then proceeded to say the site says animals have to be neutered/spayed by 1 when it doesn’t . It says 2.I just didn’t like the attitudes given to me. They weren’t pleasant. Also, people that came after me were being seen before me.I just ended up leaving without telling them.Doesn’t hurt to be more pleasant.
I had an appointment for my cat. They were friendly, love animals and did a great job examining my cat. They are honest and reasonably priced for people who dont have of money. I would recommend them to anyone!
Although they were extremely busy, my dog was seen on time and did not take long for the exam. The employees seem to have a genuine care f p r the animals and are very friendly. Seems the veterinarian knows her stuff because my dogs allergies are better controlled. They are better than Vetco AND Banfield combined. Highest recommendation possible.
Theyre just providing services to the community, not trying to profit by offering extra stuff thats your pet doesnt need. This is a great place to get all kinds of pets neutered for a much more reasonable price than most vets or animal hospitals. They also have very affordable routine preventative care like vaccines, flea/tick treatments & even nail trimming. So grateful!
I am a Veteran who tried to prevent my senile mother from driving. I was arrested for taking her keys. My blind Chihuahua service dog was taken from me and the rescue refused to give her back. She was dependent and very attached to me, it was cruel to her. Help!
The staff and veterinarians are awesome! I like how they handle my animals, very gentle. I would recommend the place to everyone! I love them. Also what money they received it goes back into the non-profit organization. And I love giving back to the community! Sorry to say, but they are an awesome organization!
When I decided to take in a stray kitten, hudson Valley animal rescue helped me prepare to bring her home. They really made feel excited about becoming a new owner of my Lil furry baby Curry. The were very informative. and I DONT know what I would have done without them. Thanks for everything ! Now my family is complete.
My girlfriend and I recently rescued an abandoned adult male cat from the streets of Newburgh whom we named Rufus. We wanted to help at least get him vaccinated, neutered and healthy - hoping that we could let him try to be a part of our family. Unfortunately, my normal vet - where we have done this already many times - is booked solid until January. Not wanting him to suffer on the streets that long, we decided to try HVARS - thinking that, because they are a nonprofit, they would be a good alternative. HVARS charged us for an initial exam, but did not actually complete an inspection or do any of the bloodwork panels listed - all of which I have seen cats get when I take them to my normal vet for their initial wellness visits. The vet-tech (or whatever non-doctoral certification the assistant has) poo-poo’ed us when we asked why; “well, he’s a stray. Also. That costs extra, so we didn’t do it.” when even talking about the exams that were obviously included. Fine. I have no problem giving a donation to a nonprofit… So. We had to bring him back (an hour drive for us) to get the proper tests and exam a couple days later. Luckily we both had sick time we needed to use up. Got his shots finally. We then waited the 2 weeks for his neutering appointment, which was yesterday; Friday. They finish with him by telling us that if there is any issue, he will need to be seen right away. Today, Rufus hasn’t peed yet and is lethargic. When calling the “clinic” we are told we’ll need to bring him to a vet with an emergency room that is open on weekends because “we don’t have a vet on Saturdays. Why schedule the surgery on a Friday - advising your patients to be mindful over the next 24 hours - if you don’t even have a vet around the provide emergency care if they screw up the procedure? Instead of providing care, they told us “call your vet and get an emergency appointment.” And the closest emergency vet office is over an hour away in another direction now. What absolutely awful protocols these vets have. Not even a hint of care planning went into their process of drop & dump assembly line neutering on a Friday evening. The entire process of rescuing an animal has become unnecessarily difficult, expensive and exploitative, thanks to people who no longer have empathy for all animals. I can’t even imagine how heartbroken I’ll be if Rufus dies thanks to the incompetence and LACK OF EMPATHY that this animal-centric “nonprofit” has shown to this poor creature. I wish I had negative stars to give you.
My 6 month old German Shephard got a stick lodged between her teeth they were closing it was late but they got her in and took care of her immediately
HVARS is AMAZING!! Seriously the freaking best!!!! The only place I will take my pets. Everyone is super nice & helpful. They treat all animals with love & Respect. AND they are affordable.Quick story: Before I found out about HVARS I was taking my Shihtzu dog Missy to a different vet,…Well they never could figure out what her problem was (too long to explain)..it was a whole year of vet visits & my poor missy was still miserable.I had spent a ridiculous amount of money.I found out about HVARS through Facebook & decided I should take missy here. Best decision I EVER made!!!! In ONE visit they knew what was wrong and were able to help her. That visit cost me less than 200$. After a few days My dog after a whole year of misery was finally back to her normal playful self . I cried! I was so happy to have my dog back to normal. Thanks to HVARS ❤️
An amazing place to find a new friend. They went through my adoption application quickly and once accepted they gave me all the time I needed to meet their amazing cats and kitties until I found my new family members Gordon and Lexie. Thank you for letting me give them a new loving home!
Love this place for our 13 year old pup Sadie. Wonderful and prompt service and good care when we learned she caught Lyme recently. Recommend them to everyone
We adopted a puppy from them last weekend. The adoption process was very quick and the adoption fees are very reasonable . We brought him back yesterday for a booster shot he was due for and to start him on flea and heartworm prevention . Everyone we dealt with was very friendly and the vet clinic prices are extremely low. I would highly recommend them if youre looking for a new addition to your family or reasonably priced care for your pets. We will be continuing to use them for all our veterinary needs in the future.
I don’t have enough kind words about this place and there staff! I have many cats and always have different cats coming and going as I foster cats and will only allow them indoors so medical treatment is usually needed for some reason or another and I will only bring my cats to HVAS!! One of my cats got a really really bad infection after being neutered and it was because one of my other cats would not stop licking the incision site and it got really bad just overnight and I ended up having to bring him back in and they kept him there for 10 days (the charged me one flat fee and not by the day) and when I got him back he was good as new they worked wonders on him the area that was infected was really bad and it ended up looking like somebody attempted to skin him and stopped it was really bad I can’t say that enough but HVAS took care of him! My animals aside my mother has been going here for years and so has my little sister! We tell all our friends about them and we make sure that anytime one of our relatives has animal trouble that they go here!! I cannot say enough good things about them! Thanks HVAS!!
My husband and I take my dog jegs there for shots and sick visits. Everyone is so kind and caring. The vet is super sweet and truly cared. She also has superb advice on how to train, new puppies. We love you guys. Your the best.
Just an fyi we have now adopted 2 cats from Hudson Valley Animal Rescue and Sanctuary that have had major issues and obviously were not actually checked by a vet before being adopted. I DO NOT recommend adopting from them, also sorry to be a downer but the Beans Cat Cafe in Beacon gets their cats from them so I wouldnt adopt there either. They legit told me today that if I wasnt happy with my cat I could return him. No joke, I was sobbing in the parking lot of the vets office. We have had him, loving on him for 3 weeks there is no way we are returning him but had we been notified of this upon adoption we may have made a different decision. We were told that Wolf was a year old and completely healthy....well hes 6 years old and has such bad teeth that a bunch will need to be removedEdit: The owner has offered to pay for Wolfs dental work, the above review was written before we spoke and will not let me delete.
My Friends 4 month old male kitten went into to get Neutered and died! This kitten came from my cats litter. He was the most loving little guy, with the best personality. He didn’t deserve to die. Please please do yourself a favor and stay as far away from this place.I can’t bring back my beloved baby, but you can save yours!😭💔
I had found a pigeon today hopping around outside, it seemed to be injured it was around for a couple days. I called so many different people to try to help this animal and got nowhere. I finally called these guys and they offered for me to bring the bird to them and they would reach out to someone or help rehab it and find the owner. Definitely great people working there, and very compassionate when no one else would do anything or even answer. Thank you guys so very much.
Cant say enough about Hudson valley animal rescue we took a family members cat there yesterday to have him checked out . With that we explain the situation that the family is going through a nightmare in their life theyre 4 year old little boy was diagnosed with neuroblastinoma. He is very sick we explained to them that they could no longer keep Walter without hesitation they went inside spoke to the manager and came outside and said we will take Walter we will get him up to date on his vaccines we will love on him and we will find him his forever home. We cried because it was a big weight lifted off all of our shoulders Walter has lived in the same home for 7 years so this was tearing us all apart. They made us feel so good and I know they will find Walter a loving home. They were so compassionate they stood outside and talked to us for a while and they were very busy they gave us stickers for our car to represent and brought me out a sweatshirt absolutely love this place besides the fact that over the years theyve helped me with countless numbers of feral cats theres no other place in dutchess county that opens their doors and theyre loving arms then Hudson valley animal rescue please donate to them they work off of donations!!! Thank you once again Hudson valley animal rescue for making our family and their pet feel loved!!❤️🙏♥️
Got our good boy here. Adoption donation requirement is higher than SPCA, but the selection of dogs and puppies is bigger. Can definitely tell the animals are well taken care of and very healthy. Had no trouble getting through the application process and was able to take him home same day.
Nikko just got a series of shots, a full exam, bloodwork and nail trim and it was amazing to see Hudson Valley animal rescue and sanctuary has not gone crazy with prices like everybody else in New York State they hold the price down and they do a terrific job its amazing, most times when you walk away from places like this youre looking at the bill but I just looked at a nice happy place who deals with my with Nico. Thank you HVARS!JOHN M JUAVINETT SR
Very nice Staff highly qualified . My Miniature Dachshund was never put under anesthesia and hes ten years old he never had his teeth cleaned before and I didnt want him to die because of rotten teeth . the staff did his blood work to make sure he would not have a issue with the anesthesia while under , and administer the correct dose . well he passed with flying colors no cavities found and no extractions needed , and he had no issues with the anesthesia which was my biggest concern. I highly recommend Hudson Valley Animal Rescue & Sanctuary for that reason . And there prices are half of what you wound normally pay . Thanks again guys , My dachshund Dude says thank you to , top notch service.
Very helpful and informative staff.. they took in a kitten that was in poor condition and just scooped her right up and immediately had her placed in foster care.. I was very grateful of their swift handling and acceptance. Having no where else to take her these ppl welcomed her with open arms. Furever grateful 🙏
Always so nice and accommodating. Adopted a cat years ago and recently brought my puppy to them even tho I moved 25 mins away. They are fairly priced, very knowledgeable and really explain it all to you. I’ll probably always use them.
HVARS does not compensate vet visits for special needs animals. I adopted my cat September of 2020 and she has always had diarrhea . I mentioned this on the fallow up call and changed her food. I brought her in the Spring 2021- although, they disregarded that visit. They claimed that the IBD transpired afterwards and proceeded to argue with me. The woman actually compared this situation to having a special needs child. I have a special needs child so I actually know what it entails. Frankly, the state would help me with my four year old & he is eligible for Medicaid. Therefore I don’t see the connection. She crossed the line and I thought that was very rude. That is the real reason for my review. The woman also thought she could teach me about responsibility, when I have worked at a hospital for nearly ten years. I found the argument petty ,totally condescending, and unprofessional. I would have liked to know that my cat had IBD and that they don’t give any discount for vet visits at the time of adoption.
Took my baby to be fixed and shots ...they went above and beyond for both of us.I had to drop her off and get to work.so they stepped up and did my paper over the phone day before to make my drop off smooth as can be...we live over an hour away so knowing this the pick up was even easier for me.I give a big shout and thank you to all you wonderful ladies at the HUDSON VALLEY ANIMAL RESCUE..Highly recommended them...❤
Amazing organization! It’s apparent how much they love and care for animals of all types, including wildlife. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable, and the low cost wellness and spay/neuter clinic they offer to the community is great! They even offer low cost dentals, xrays and even some specialty surgeries!! Definitely worth checking out :)
I really like this animal shelter because they listen to you and really try to match the you with the right pet. Stacy worked with me and found exactly the cat I was looking for. They have visiting rooms where you can spend time with your potential new friend. All animals are spayed/neutered before leaving. I highly recommend.
Our last vet was scared of my little cat. The people who are here are much better with animals, definitely very caring. And concerned more about quality of life than selling medicine. And very reasonablely priced for vet services.
I own pet rats and sometimes need to euthanize them due to health problems. All of the local for profit veterinary offices want between $150 and $180 to put down these tiny little animals that weigh less than 5 lbs. This wonderful organization put mine down for a very low price and they were willing to negotiate with me when I was struggling financially. They offer a low cost clinic, I believe they quoted me $80 to spay my kitten.
Steals your pets, then charges you to get them back.
I was really impressed nice healthy animals.the staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. I adopted a nice little kitten. Animals have been neutered and has all there shots. Very loving environment. I would recommend to anyone looking to adopt..
I love the work they do here at Hvars. We adopted ourSweet Myles here in March and he’s been my best friend ever since. They also have a low cost vet so we get his nails cut and get his meds here as well. They are great. I can’t wait to get another puppy when I move out of course lol
Absolutely terrible experience. I had made an appointment one day to get our cat fixed. I had dropped her off at 8:30 AM and was told to pick her up at 6 PM when we showed up to pick her up Our cat was nowhere to be seen. We went up to the receptionist stating that we were there to get our pet th lady told us another hour. So after an hour we were now told twenty more mins SEVERAL times. Now it is 8 pm two hours after we were told to get her. We were concerned about our cat due to the fact that all the other animals were in the crates recovering except ours. So as we continued to question a women came out of the back and just completely went off on my roommate and I in the middle of the waiting room. When all we wanted was to know that our cat was safe and a courtesy call that they were running 3 hours behind. This women continued to yell at us and be so extremely rude and disrespectful to the point where we just had to leave. We didn’t get our cat back til 9pm (13 hours later) and when we got her home you could tell she had just started coming down from anesthesia she couldn’t even stand herself up. The whole business is unprofessional and rude. And I will NEVER go there again I will pay the extra money and go somewhere else.
First of all, I understand that Covid mightve affected the way things are run here. I had a vet appointment and was there just 5 mins early. I had to wait 45 mins in the parking lot (as per Covid procedure) until they called me. During the 45 mins I watched several people who came after me go in. When I called to ask how long was the wait going to be I was asked if I had come early, I dont think 5 mins early was early. And I was reminded quite curtly that they are a charity organization. I wasnt asking to cut ahead of anyone, simply asking how long more, I was waiting in my car with my dog who had a tumor on his head! Anyway after the call, I was seen next, which made me think I was indeed forgotten.I believe this is a legitimately good organization, however maybe should have better communication with their patrons. The price for my dogs surgery was the same as my vet, whom we trust. We were merely looking to see if we could find a cheaper alternative for a very expensive procedure. We stuck with our vet.
They provide a good service but the social interactions are sub par. Times are tough now but you are made to wait in the parking lot with no shade for them to come for your animal. And if you do stand out in the little shade on the parking lot you have to contest with both customers and staff not wearing masks. If you decide to use their service prepare accordingly
HVARS almost ruined my 9 month old kitten during a routine spay and rabies vaccination. She came home and was with a large lump around the surgical area (which was removed and corrected by Ark Animal Hospital) and seemed very unfamiliar with our apartment when she came home (weve lived there for 9 months). We then took her to Ark Animal Hospital where everything was corrected and our kittens life/bounce was returned to her. I recommend Ark Animal Hospital.
They always take care of my fur babies and go above and beyond to provide the best service. HVARS is doing such a service to animals in need in the Hudson valley.
The day we came, there was only one person ahead of us. After that person left, the receptionist totally ignored us sitting in a waiting area less than 2ft from her. She even got up and left her desk for some time without acknowledging us!When she returned and we stepped up to her desk, there was no Hello, Can I help you? No greeting at all. In fact, once I told her what we were there for (just to get flea meds for my 9lb dog for the season) she seemed annoyed. When she told us they only had flea & tick med (Bravecto) for a 3 month period, we said fine. That would cover him for the entire Summer. But then she said it cost $45 in a way that seemed like she thought we couldnt afford it!All in all an unpleasant experience for a place thats there to take care of our pets.I know we could have gone to a Pet store for the meds, but we wanted to make sure the meds we chose were okay for a little dog. And possibly get him a wellness check up.A request she also ignored.Ill never understand ppl taking a position that deals with the public....if they clearly dont like dealing with the public. Im sure being a ppl person and liking animals is on her job description. She even backed up from our little dog as I held him in my arms while talking to her! Turning up her nose after asking what kind of dog he was and finding out he was a mixed breed terrier wed rescued from a kill shelter. We came in a good mood, looking forward to getting our dog free of fleas and healthy for the Summer. We left feeling like it had all been a waste of time and an unpleasant experience. We never got to speak to a vet because we were informed that we had come on a day the vet was doing spays and neutering all day. Suffice it to say, once our dogs meds wear off, we will go somewhere else.
I am really impressed with this vet and the staff there. They didn’t try to upsell me on random tests, and my pets came back both very calm and relaxed.
I found my best friend/perfect match here a few years ago. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a new pet. They have a dedicated staff of true animal lovers and on site veterinary services.
My husband and I adopted a kitten (“Barry”) today.I couldn’t wait to write this review. He is the sweetest little kitten I think I’ve ever had. He’s a cuddler just like i wanted. He’s playful & just the most adorable and best temperament!! If you’re thinking about adopting from HVARS.. please do not hesitate. Staff is also very kind, helpful and knowledgeable. We can’t thank you enough HVARS !!
This facility was impeccable - very clean and you could smell how clean it is! The entire staff was/is extremely friendly and all the animals seemed well kept. Definitely adopt from this shelter.
They were great with my huge puppy and helped me with her injury at a much more affordable price! Bailey feels so much better now!
Got my cat fixed here and i got my dog from here. Great place and kind staff ! All my animals are healthy and all animals available for adoption look healthy. They offer very affordable vet prices as well.
Myself and a friend had been going to HVARS for some time before Covid to walk the dogs. We both have donated many supplies and money donations. We went yesterday to walk some dogs. We were greeted ,rather coldly, by a man who looked us over like we were uninvited guests. When we told him we have waivers on file his response was I dont recognize these people. He then said I will talk to you outside. We went outside where he proceeded to tell us he has taken over and if we wanted to walk dogs we had to fill out an application and come for orientation next Saturday. I asked if we could go in the kennel to see the dogs and was rudely told no. I dont know what happened to the kind women who used to be there but I can say I will find a new shelter to support. I live almost 20 miles away so I wont waste my time with his sketchy place!!!
While Im thankful and appreciative that youve led us to our sweet boy, Im extremely disappointed with how you mislead us when you neglected to inform us of the severity of his heartworm. You completely took advantage of us when you assured us that he would be back to normal within a few months. I later found out that he had a severe case; that he was found barely breathing, clinging to life and severely underweight. And with such a severe case, I cant for the life of me fathom why he was cleared for adoption only a MONTH after his treatment ended.Im disappointed that you looked us in the eye, two 24 year olds who are just making it by, and told us not to worry because you would never be handing us off a dog that would be a financial stressor.Weve spent thousands on him already. And not just on his mild heartworm case but on his infestation of intestinal worms, which the vet assured us he mustve had contracted while at your shelter. So I suggest you test all of your dogs for whipworm, because Hugger came to us with 4x the average amount and were praying that this hasnt resulted in permanent damage. How you neglected to test his feces--one of the most basic tests you could perform-- is beyond me.I would call you and demand that you help us pay for the hospital and vet bills but based on what many others have been saying, theres not a chance youll care post-adoption.There is no way you could ever compensate for the emotional stress youve put upon us. While weve grown to love Hugger with everything in us, we werent in the right place--both financially and emotionally-- to care for such a sick dog. Neglecting to be transparent about an animals health situation is how you get an animal returned or abandoned again. While I commend your work in saving animals, youve shown so much neglect and carelessness, I cant imagine how anyone would label you animal lovers.
We just adopted a 10-year-old cat and had a wonderful experience. The staff was friendly and helpful. Offers vet care as well. Would highly recommend!
Sweet place ...they do good work here
Adopted my puppy from this place. They do everything possible for the animals, including microchipping and sterilization (spay, neuter). They give theyre puppies de-worming treatments and rabies vaccines. They do not offer puppies for adoption until they are at least 12 weeks old. They also have dogs, cats, kittens, and rescue other animals. Very nice office staff are willing to help.
Really great peeps work here! My 12 yr old yeller lab, Sandy, had a bad case of the itches and an ear infection. Dr here prescribed what Sandy needed, nothing more. Sandy is itch free n feelin fine!!!!
We just got our puppy from there. I cant say enough good things. Its an amazing place with great knowledgeable staff. They really take good care of all the animals.
My application to adopt a dog was denied by Hudson Valley Animal Rescue, but this is not the reason Im giving them a negative review. About ten days after applying to adopt a dog, I got an email from them asking me to contact them about the application. I called, identified myself, and was told that the dog in which my family had interest would be at PetSmart in Poughkeepsie, and that I should go there to meet it. I told my nine-year-old daughter and she was, of course, delighted. We drove to Poughkeepise (about thirty minutes from where we live), met the dog, and were interested in finalizing the adoption. It was at this point that I was told our adoption application was denied (we said on our application that the dog would occasionally be left outside in a large fenced-in yard, and this, evidently, is a deal-breaker). So there I was, with a very upset daughter, and having invested several hours of time, when they could have told me by email or phone that the adoption would not be approved. At a minimum this was very inconsiderate, at worst, it shows a callous disregard for other peoples time or feelings.
We adopted our dog from HVAR 2 years ago. They are thorough, kind, thoughtful and professional. They do amazing things for all animals and their people!
Caring , helpful and friendly staff . Dr. Chiaramonte is great !! She came out to my car to assure me that all is well with my Rosie and described what she checked .
Brought 2 cats in. Waited a bit beyond my appt time, but doc and all else seemed knowedegable, pleasant, cats seemed comfortable. Will definitely go back. Price was very fair
Most caring and understanding place or injured animals and wildlife. They are the best. They go above and beyond for the people and animals in the community. No other shelter runs like this one. Thank you for always doing your best. No matter the circumstances!
They do great work taking care of animals. I use the vet there and they are great.
Very kind and affordable. I wish they would treat unneutered or unspayed pets but otherwise the service is great
Awesome, we have adopted 3 cats and HVARS are amazing.
I adopted a sweet gray cat who adjusted to me and my medium size dog in about 15 minutes! The adoption process was easy. He is my Mothers Day present from my daughter & grandson.
Thank God for HVARs. My dog got seriously messed up with a broken leg and they have been very good with caring for him. If you need a good vet, give them a try.
They were able to see my sick little cat on short notice and were very kind and compassionate despite being under a lot of time pressure.
Very unprofessional, rude and disrespectful! After having talking to very rude staff that told me my interest in adopting one of their animals didnt matter to them and that anyone who wanted a dog didnt matter to them, i posted a complaint on facebook, well instead of handling the complaint like adults, they deleted the complaint and blocked me and then blocked my husband. Very childish behavior if you ask me. They must block and delete all negative comments.I will be going to their superiors (if they have any) since they told me they had no boss.
A wonderful rescue with lots of heart. Their clinic work is very good. If you are looking to adopt a cat or dog definitely consider HVARS .
Great stuff, great attitude, great doctor ❤️ thank you very much
Kind people... i volunteer there and felt right at home on my first day. Animals are kept healthy and clean... lots of space. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there
Caring, Kind, Loving Establishment. I would refer them to everyone I know. They make you feel at home in the darkest times. Amazing employees and very thorough with everything they do.
There were absolutely fantastic. Animals are incredibly well cared for and the place very clean. Meet Morgan! This is our beautiful new family member.
Great job theyre doing there!
Very friendly, very helpful and reasonably priced for our pets. We have switched all our pets to here now.
These people do a really good job keeping the facility clean and keeping the animals healthy and happy as possible. Please adopt, dont shop and donate any unopened or unused pet supplies, pillows, toys.
I have brought my puppy and 2cats to be neuter here and there prices are great planning to adopt a dog from here too as well, very soon. They do there best.
Small but well taken care of, animals seemed happy an healthy, business even looked good, they were building even more animal storage, even while all those new developments are being put in next door to it.
Dog spayed there. Very affordable... with knowledgeable people answering the phone to answer questions... No going indoors, pets picked up by staff from car
Brought a stray kitten in with 2 eye infections..gave her antibiotics and it cleared infections up but shes blind in one eye..but there prices are very reasonable..pic of my sons baby they saved
Loved this place. They provided us great service and our pup was taken great care of!
Theyre just amazing turned away from many places but they took care of Coco and Casper two ferral cats.
The place to go to adopt a pet. Everyone is friendly, knowledgeable, and caring.
Always a great experience and prices are alot better than most.
Great service at Hudson Valley animal rescue. Thank you for clear communication and reasonable pricing!
Great organization poor homeless animals need more like this. Wifey walks dogs here and I tag along sometimes. They can always use dog walkers.
A big thanks to everyone at HVARS for all their hard work and sacrifice. Special thanks to Kelly at the front desk for being so courteous and helpful ! Keep up the amazing work guys!
This place saved meNot expensive . I can to take my animals here and i know they are going to take care of them , and im not gonna have sell my arms and legs to pay the bill.

Great place! Friendly staff, clean facilities, great cause! Definitely recommend!
Thank you so much for helping my unicorn kitty, you saved her life when no one else would help her🥰 She is doing amazing.Thank you and God Bless You😇
Im a kitten foster for them, and theyre *wonderful*. And they have bunnies, chickens, and a cow to pet! 👍👍👍
Aside from not listening to spelling of pet names when dropping off for the spay neuter program, their professionalism is entirely on point.
Very kind and courteous people
Great service from start to finish ! Had our cat spayed , very satisfied with the service .
Kind, caring people. cannot day enough good things about this place. i will never take my animals anywhere else. they truly care about the animals!
The staff are rude, always having a attitude for no reason, they don’t seem to like to work there, they act like they’re doing the pet owners a favor, plus owners are not allowed in the clinic, the only reason I used to go there is because the prices are lower than other vets but the service is low quality as well, not worth it I had enough.
They are very caring staff that keep prices down. Good place to adopt a furry friend.
Great staff. They Treat my dogs very well
They are awesome 💚 and Thank you for taking care of My best friend Kujoe.
Hudson valley rescue provided us Incredible service and at a great price!

Dogs love them ❤️ will continue their care there ❤️
Your employees were extremely friendly and helpful. Thank you for your excellent service in our time of sorrow. Our cat Luna is now in a better place and no longer in pain. Thank you again! 💯💖💔🐾🐾
Sorry to say but HVARS has lost the connection with Animal Rescue and Service for those animals. The public / pet owners / rescuers, providing homes and taking in precious animals are being pushed away. Making pet owners wait in their cars while taking your pet in to get checked and given shots is just wrong! Not saying anything is afoul, but when Im forced to stay in my car, I have to start questioning this practice and why. There is no excuse. The practice of waiting in your car was justified during Covid. Now they are using the excuse of the office being rearranged and too small to accommodate patients and owners. If that is so, at least let us in with our pets during their exams. Excluding the pet owners is just horrible.Just a recap to your response. To the owner of HVARS. I was told by the girl retrieving my dog I couldnt go inside no matter what. That no-one was being allowed inside with their pets and quite a few others were complaining about it. She was fed up with me since she has been hearing complaints from so many other customers about being forced to wait outside. (Just want to bring this to your attention.) I dont know how this has any baring on making things run more efficient, to see patients within 24 to 48 hours. I guess trying not to deal with the public can seem to make any establishment more efficient. Your establishment has seen my dog over the years, yes. Ive had no complaints. I even rescued a dog from HVARS. We respect what you guys are doing and would love to keep seeing you if we can come in with our dog. Politely pushing people away who feel uncomfortable to seek full service at a vet hospital is not the answer. People do feel uncomfortable. Less stress is good throughout any visit for customers and their pets but transparency would help ease public trust and welcome more to rescue and care. Im not saying to stop people from waiting outside, just let us come in with our pets when being seen. Hopefully I can still bring my rescued dog to you, if I can go in with him.
Exelent
Love this place! They do so much good for all the animals.
The place to go for your cats and dogs. They are a caring facility for animal rescues and have clinics for follow up care .
HVARS are absolutely the most compassionate people that Ive had the pleasure to encounter. They are caring and informative. I highly recommend them for all your veterinary needs .

They are very caring and have helped our pets 🐱🐱🐱🐱
Caring people that do great work. Our new kitty is loving his new home.
Fantastic organization
Run by amazing caring people who are in it for the animals and the local community. I highly recommend supporting this organization.
The people are so accommodating with appointments, and there prices are reasonable
Great folks who provide love and care for so many animals!
Service is great. Busy place. Affortable prices.
Great staff!! Great cost! My pets love it!!
Awful place and wish I could give zero stars. They took on a dog that my friends sister could not care for anymore and within 2 weeks they euthanized him. He was very anxious and they said he bit a staff member. 2 weeks isnt even enough time to let a dog decompress or get adjusted to an anxiety medication. He was never brought there with a bite history, he was brought there for severe separation anxiety and they failed him. He previously lived with 3 small children and was great with them. This rescue couldnt handle him and instead of looking into a trainer for him they pushedhim to bite, and now hes dead. A perfectly healthy 2 year old dog just needed some help and they failed him. Completely unfair. In the meantime I had emailed them several times with no response and a German Shepherd rescue also called them multiple times because she was willing to take him. This whole situation sits so poorly with me. Please do not go here or trust these people!
Helpful, caring staff. Took home a new friend.
