I have 2 dogs,Bailey and Bobo. We just finished their training and we couldn’t be happier with the results. Everyone there was so friendly and demonstrated what they taught the dogs. They had us practice with our dogs so we could be successful at home. They were great about answering our questions and our texts. I loved the fact that they sent us texts and videos throughout their weekly lessons. Their barking has decreased a lot because of the tools they gave us to continue training them. It really does work.It is very expensive, but it was worth every penny. It’s important to carry through and practice skills daily to achieve success. We don’t expect the dogs to change their behavior overnight. It’s a work in progress. I highly recommend Sit Means Sit!

We have 4 dogs; two 5 month olds, a 9 month old and 12 year old. Our house was complete chaos. Started taking the two youngest to their puppy training then all 3 of the babies to their all day training. Wow! From the first day you see a complete difference. The explanations, videos, care and patience they have with our fur babies and us is amazing. They go from pulling on leashes and being so distracted to walking nicely. They even helped with getting one of our babies with not being afraid of the car. They can help with anything and are with you every step of the way. I am so glad I drove the 50 minutes for training. Totally worth every penny and second. I have life long assistance with my babies and am so incredibly thankful to Jordan, Catherine and all of the sit means sit clan. Thanks for helping us mark the “graduations” with pics! 1000% recommend!

This company is fabulous for training. We took our rescue German Short Hair Pointer mix to Sit Means Sit with outstanding results. She walks with us with or without leash and will stay by our side. She eagerly follows commands and cant wait to get her collar on to go out. If you want a dog that not only behaves but is happy as well this is the place to go.

I met owner Dave years ago and was always impressed with his dogs and others who had brought their dogs there for training. I had always been able to train my dogs myself until we recently adopted a girl with some issues we couldnt overcome on our own. She only has 2 classes under her belt and already shows amazing results! At Sit Means Sit, they lay the foundation for a lifetime of good behaviors and bonding with your dog. All the trainers we have met thus far are fantastic and you can easily see they love what they do. Our shy girl is excited to walk in the door and the videos they send us when shes there show a happy girl learning new behaviors and getting lots of love. You dont have to take it from me, take it from our Lola Jean: she loves her friends at Sit Means Sit! (Here she is passed out after class, no doubt dreaming of all she learned and the fun she had!)

Enrolled my 5 year old, 130# dog because she was constantly pulling on her leash. She would run to greet people or animals when on walks which got dangerous. We completed 3 full training days and she is significantly better. Within a month, she has learned to accept loose leash walking and respects when other people go by. We are able to walk her off leash (in open, car free, rural areas) and she returns when called using the e-collar as needed. The collar was the key to focus her in to her handler and listen to commands; the missing link for my dog. I had Ellie for my final 2 full-days of training and she was WONDERFUL! So helpful. She listened to my priorities and implemented them into the training sessions. The entire organization has been professional, easy to work with and friendly. Emails are returned promptly and these new skills make walks with my pup enjoyable. There are still behaviors we need to address but I finally feel like I have the tools and support needed to accomplish those goals. Worth the 90 minute commute to their beautiful facility. We begin group sessions this week. I can update the review then.

Huge thank you to everyone at Sit Means Sit - Syracuse! Cam C. and Matt C. were the primary trainers for Louie (GSD) and they were both awesome. I felt good dropping him off on training days knowing he would be with these guys and the rest of the staff at the facility. They worked toward specific goals that I provided though it quickly becomes apparent that the training they do is beneficial in an overall sense. The video updates were enjoyable to receive during the day and a great to use as a reference when doing exercises at home. They also spent an hour with us at the end of each day going over the techniques and answering questions. It is truly training for the dog as well as the human counterpart and the results have been wonderful. We finished Louies initial training a couple weeks back and will be participating in the continued services that Sit Means Sit has available for us. We are grateful that a place like that exists here in the Cuse.-Jed and Louie

When we adopted a beagle unexpectedly, we were completely overwhelmed and unprepared to take on such an enormous task. Our girl wasnt potty trained and only knew sit when she wanted to. She took off on scents and refused to come back. Knowing her breed and wanting her to have the ability to run free and sniff away safely, we decided we needed help. We didnt want to just have an invisible fence because we wanted to have the freedom to take her places and allow her to be offleash. Sit Means Sit came into our lives just when we all needed it most. It was an adjustment at first because all of the listening she had to do and playing she did absolutely exhausted her and we wondered how that was even possible, but within a couple of days following her first lesson, it was like having a completely different pup! Im not going to lie, it takes work on the humans part the most! If we didnt do our homework, our pup suffered. We get so many compliments on how well she listens and will place even in busy areas. It was the best gift we could have ever given ourselves. The quality of her life improved significantly because of Sit Means Sit training and I will always go with them for future dogs. If you choose to get a dog, youre choosing to have a family member and they deserve the best, too! We felt like this was the best investment we have ever made. If youre on the fence, set up a demo and decide then. I promise that Dave and his team wont let you down.

We have 2 large dogs and up till about 6 months ago, they used to play together. In the past few months, one of the dogs has been “attacking” our other dog. Not knowing what else to do, a veterinarian friend of ours suggested behavior training. This lead us to Sit Means Sit. They have been a God send! They have taught the dogs, and us, how to take back the control in our home. Our “dominant” dog is re-learning her place in the home and that she CAN coexist with our other dog. As with the dogs learning, we are also re-learning how to train them. We can’t thank Sit Means Sit enough for their training, explanations and pure love of what they do so we can have a happy household again.

Dave is amazing! He’s super attentive and takes the time to get to know you and your pup even during the inquiry meeting. He’s very thorough in explaining the process, different class options, and will suggest the best class based on your pup and lifestyle. During class, they truly worked magic! My dog is a border collie lab mix rescue who was just too smart and stubborn for your average positive reinforcement training, and it was a struggle to get him to understand boundaries, to play nice with our other animals and learn to control his impulses. Dave and his team created a new dog for us! The classes for us were incredibly helpful in giving over what was learned and allowing us to ensure we are executing commands effectively and correctly. Our dog has been amazing and seems so much happier now that he knows, and we know how to control him a lot better. Thank you so much Dave and Rachel, we and Finnegan appreciate all you do!

Our Ginger is a large (nearly 90 lbs) and rather unruly dog. My husband and I are older, and we were having trouble with simple things like getting her into the truck to go to the vets and walking on a leash. We decided to take her to Sit Means Sit for an evaluation to see if they could do anything with her. Dave, the owner, assured us they could help, so we signed up and a few weeks later Ginger had her first day of training. We saw a difference after that first day. Ginger was walking calmly on the leash and jumped right up into the truck to go home. After three weeks shes now so much more manageable. She will stay put on command, walk calmly off leash and come when she is called. Thanks to Cameron for his patience with her (and us). Ginger really loved working with him and we appreciated his extra efforts. I would highly recommend Sit Means Sit to anyone struggling with an unruly dog. Yes, it is pricey, but worth every penny. We are happy and so is Ginger!

We are making so much progress with our 2-year-old Husky Chewie! He has such a good soul but was also wild and unmanageable. He worked with several trainers, but we got to know Catherine the best, and she was great - smart, professional, helped me learn how to teach him better, and genuinely respected him and his process even though he can be a challenge. She didn’t judge the wild animal we brought in - she met us at his level. This place has great vibes top to bottom. Dave is the owner - during our meet & greet, he had Chewie sitting on a loose leash with a whole other dog in the room. I was shook. Chewie looked happy during every video we got during his training, and I would absolutely trust them with my dog again. Looking forward to the free lifetime support that came with our package and will be calling to start his transitional class soon. Thank you all for what you do!

We brought our pup Porter in at about 6 months old. This is our first puppy on a long time and while we were making progress, felt it was slowing as he grew. He immediately took to the training and is doing great. Right now weve completed 2 of the 3 sessions, and hes listening, is able to greet other dogs and people calmly, is a joy to take on a walk, and his recall has improved immensely. And the best part is hes still a happy playful puppy. Justin trains porter, but he also teaches us to integrate training into life and playtime so its fully integrated. We purchased an agility set a couple months ago but couldnt use it - with the training hes (weve) had, were excited to start using it for indoor playtime just in time for winter. Definitely worth the time to have a puppy and owner trained and in synch.

When we brought Archie to Sit Means Sit, he was hard to train, we tried a few other places but he had a hard time sticking to good manners or he had selective manners. He would jump on everyone, bark at everything, we had a hard time taking him places. He bothered our cats and eat socks and shoes. After the first class he came home a new dog. He listened, his jumping was hardly anissue and he listened. We were like ok this is to good to be real. Today we finished his last class, and we now have the dog we have always wanted. He listens, he doesn’t jump at all and he is overall the best family dog. This has been a life saver. We can take our dog places without the fear of him being out of control. The videos of his progress left us shocked. Especially when they went into a store and he did amazing. I would highly recommend Sit Means Sit to anyone. David and his team are a dedicated bunch who really have a passion for what they do. I read reviews when deciding whether or not Sit Means Sit would meet our needs. I saw a couple people thought it was too expensive and a few that though the training method were cruel. Overwhelming, though, I read positive feedback. I found that there were options for every budget and that the collars were very humane. My 8 lb. Miniature Dachshund responds well to the stimulation. She is behaving the way we had hoped and she is just as pleased as we are, now that she knows the expectations. The facilities are top notch, the staff is amazing and the interactions Ive had with other customer have all been positive. Bringing our Border Collie Pip to sit means sit has been a game changer. This breed of dog was so different than we were used to and all of the many years of experience and success Ive had with Retrievers meant nothing when relating to this dog. It was more than the high energy, this dog just thinks and reacts differently and he can get pretty aggressive around his food and certain other situations. We spent a lot of time with Cameron who was so patient with us and Pip and he helped us to understand him a little better. I never felt judged like why do people get dogs they cant handle or breeds they dont understand which honestly is kind of how I felt about myself. I was afraid we created a monster and after years of doing things wrong that it was hopeless. That however couldnt be further from the truth. He is doing SO good. They use e-collars for training which in the past I didnt think would work on him because he has so much anxiety but its great! Its just like having a super long lead that you cant get tangled in or tripped with. We are enjoying playing with him off leash so he can get the amount of exercise he needs and he listens so well. Everyone is having more fun, especially Pip. I highly recommend Sit Means Sit. They are so knowledgeable and friendly. Pip did the day training and they even sent us updates and videos explaining what they were working on. Cameron even came to our home to help us work through some food aggression issues.

If I could put no stars I would. sit means sit is a horrible dog training program.i don’t even know where to begin. my boyfriend and i met with dave, the owner about our gsd back in february regarding how he behaves in the car, pulls and drags on the leash, and off leash training. after discussing together we decided to go through with the program, not knowing if it was a good idea or not because they use shock collars as the technique and we didn’t agree with that.since we were taking our gs (Otis) there we decided to take my mini aussie (Gracie) there as well. Otis was set for being dropped off on Friday mornings and picked up in the afternoon, where we would come in with Gracie and do classes with her. the first day of classes was a complete rip off for gracie as Amanda took nearly the entire class to fit a collar to her. the other half of it we were in a room together where nearly the entire time Otis and Gracie was barking and dragging us because they wanted to play together and wanted to be with their other owners. When we signed up for the class we had the impression that we would both be working with both dogs together as we are a couple and they’re both our dogs and neither one worked with the other.fast forward, the shock collar later left marks on Gracie’s neck and had a hefty vet bill because of it. As for Otis, the shock collar reacted badly with him and we brought this up to Dave and he said there’s no way his collar can do this to him or make him behave aggressively. Otis now attacks our saint bernard Zeus any time he is near him or gets a chance. He will break down our gate to get to him at time. with or without the muzzle on that we HAD to get according to Dave and Brittany. He never use to attack Zeus before the training or the shock collar and when the collar is off he acts different. We went to them with the concern about otis in the car and how he behaves. He use to throw up when he was 4 months old till he started the training and his anxiety in the car has become worse than ever where we have gone of the road a couple of times because he jumps up the front. He now poops in the car and tries to jump out of it. We can’t use a seat belt buckle because he unbuckles it, nor can we put it around the seat bc he figures it out and same with in the door. my car is too small for a kennel. When we brought up our concerns over and over again to Dave it was never dealt with or resolved. I proceeded to call and yell at him because it’s absolutely ridiculous how much money we wasted and that we are now being turned away from groomers and vets that we took him to before this training bc he’s “aggressive”. He told us we had three options. He “usually doesn’t do this” but he said he would either give us half a refund for Otis (we wanted a refund for the remaining two of Gracie’s classes as well and didn’t receive that nor did we receive half the amount of Otis’s refund), Brittany and Dave suggested we get rid of Otis as we can’t handle him and have no control of him (which is why we took him to the sit means sit training and told him we wanted to work on that and we have even less control now over him than before), or we could transfer the remaining training to the new owner, and lastly we can continue with working on training for him through them (which was completely out of the question considering they suggested getting rid of him and how he is aggressive now). This company is absolutely horrible and I would never ever recommend going here. We took Otis to Master’s Way and he reacted totally different and like a new dog. The fact a training company can even suggest to their clients that they get rid of their animals is absolutely disgusting. This company is the biggest waste of money.

Ive taken my dog Carmella here for 2 day training sessions and Im convinced that these people arent dog trainers, theyre miracle workers! Before training Carmella was highly reactive and constantly pulling on her leash. It was getting to the point where we were both constantly stressed out. But after just the first session Carmella was remarkably better. She was able to relax at home, look out the window without barking at everything that came by, and we were both able to enjoy walks again! The staff are so patient and helpful as well. They understand that owners will be nervous about leaving their dog at training, so they send videos throughout the day to show progress. The trainers also text throughout the week to check in and provide help with any difficulties had while training at home. Carmella loves all her trainers too! Each time I drop her off she excitedly goes and meets her trainer and when I pick her up she is tired but still very affectionate with everyone there. Shes worked with Jordan, Amanda, and David so far and theyve been great to both of us!If youre at all considering getting your dog trained, I highly recommend at least going to the free consultation. They listen to the issues the dog is having, see how they react to other dogs, and then go through all the details of the different training options. They answered all the questions I had and addressed any concerns, some even before I brought it up!In other reviews people mention the price being high. And while the day training price may be a barrier for some, with the results Ive gotten its been well worth it. We had Cameron as our trainer, I can’t rave enough about him. He was absolutely amazing, he sent us videos and texts letting us know how Oakley was doing throughout the day. He is so patient and caring and making sure we both knew exactly what to do. Oakley is a definite challenge and we thought we were going to get a call to come get him due to his excessive energy the first day. Cameron hung in with him all day and even spent extra time with us, explaining why he’s so hyper and how to help Oakley. Thanks to Cameron and sit means sit we have a completely different pup. He has more self control, can walk on a leash, and stays when told and has even learned some tricks. Cameron and the whole team was amazing from the first minute we met them and we will be forever grateful for all the help! So glad to see what the future holds!

Don’t hesitate. Just do it. In the end it’s a small price to pay for a lifetime of ease.We adopted a dog from a rescue a couple years ago. Long story short there were 2 incidents that happened and we thought it wasn’t safe for us to keep him anymore. We emailed so many places looking for help. In the end sit means sit is where we got that help. The changes within just a week were amazing. Mind blowing. Now they can’t push a magic button and make your dog change. You have to also be willing to put in the work and make changes too. Their insight and knowledge is priceless. If you follow their guidance and instructions, your dog will thrive. The people are amazing. All very friendly, take time to answer any questions needed and most of all their skills with dogs are top notch. We aren’t even done with the program. But we went from scared to having him around other dogs and him going absolutely insane around other dogs. To being able to be in the same room, side by side another dog and not have him acknowledge them.Being able to live with peace of mind and have control over our dog and his reactions is changing everything. Thank you sit means sit!! You guys (and gals) rock!!If you need help, minor or major. Sit means sit is absolutely the place you need to be!

My goldendoodle, Gordie, is only 6-months-old, but Sit Means Sit has made a world of difference. I wanted to give him a head start, and start building good behaviors early. After only three all-day sessions at SMS, I already see a difference. He follows commands like “quiet,” “place,” “come” and “off,” walks great on the leash, is willingly going into his crate, and we are both sleeping better at night. Having this solid foundation is invaluable and lifetime one-on-one and group training available to me is just the cherry on top. I am incredibly grateful to Jordan and the team at SMS.

My first experience with Sit Means Sit Dog Training in Cicero NY was when my daughter took her dog for the day training program. Her primary goal was for leash training but she received so much more than that!. It was amazing to see how quick and successful her dog was with the training. Everyone there is so caring and passionate. I am now taking my pup there for the day training program and I am extremely happy with his progress as well. I highly recommend Sit Means Sit Dog Training in Cicero NY

As a service dog trainer who has 11 years in the dog training world I did EXTENSIVE research on Sit Means Sit before entrusting my boy to them. My service dog in training was attacked the same week he turned one year old leaving him with fear reactivity to strangers especially men. I was concerned after reading about a dog that was injured by a Sit Means Sit branch and found stories of the e collars being misused by Sit Means Sit branches. However I can speak to the Syracuse branch training and knowledge, they are KNOWLEDGEABLE and HUMANE. In 11 years in the dog training business I’ve seen some nasty things done by so called “professional” trainers. I can say with the UPMOST confidence that Sit Means Sit Syracuse are professional and knowledgeable trainers who have a great understanding of K9 behavior and modern K9 training techniques that FULLY have my trust with even my PERSONAL dogs. They make use of E Collars in their training (which are NOT the same as shock collars) all the trainers I have talked are very well educated on how to HUMANELY use e collars. They will get you results as long as you follow their instructions and upkeep the training. I will admit that there are a few differences between their training methods and mine but that makes sense given that I am working with dogs for service work and they specialize in behavioral modification. The trainers at Sit Means Sit Syracuse have been working with me with my training preferences being incorporated into their training sessions when possible. I HIGHLY recommend them. Their services are expensive but when considering all they consider for that price it’s definitely worth it. I do wish they’d do more bond building exercises with the dog and handler and I’m not talking focus exercises, actually bond building exercises that’s sole purpose is to create a better bond between you and your dog. I’ve only had two sessions with Sit Means Sit Syracuse but I am very pleased with them and their results thus far. I look forward to writing another review after working with them for longer.

Brought 2 dogs there when we got there they told us about the collars and showed us the cages they would be placed in thru out the day.... I was not comfortable and said I did not want to leave my dogs because I am not a believer of cages or collars.... they told me I could not cancel and would have to pay well over $2000 since I booked an appointment. The owner stormed off and left a female to talk to us.... this was a few years ago and I would never recommend or go back to them again. I know their common response is to say the person complaining is not in the system... but I can assure you I paid thousands of dollars to them.

We have a Great Pyrenees, her name is Sadie, and when we saved her from a puppy mill 6 months ago, (it’s 4/22/20 today) she was extremely wild. She was aggressive with food And bit us when she stole food from the table or from the kids. She was completely impossible to housebreak. She chewed cords, clothes, shoes, and just about anything else she could grab. She jumped on us if we left her alone 5 minutes and her razor sharp claws tore us to shreds Not to mention how badly she was hurting the kids when she jumped all over them. When I walked her, she’s so strong and large that she literally drug me down the street (I’m 6’1” 215lbs). She was totally feral and we had very little hope that we could keep her. We spoke to Sit Means Sit when she was 3 months old and they said we needed to get her Rabies shot and other immunizations before they could take her on. So as soon as we got her shots, we paid for the three day one on one and got her in to see David.Today, after two days of training, she is an entirely different dog. She’s truly wonderful. We recommend this company to anyone who needs help with their fur baby. There’s truly no one better. We drop her off at 9AM and she stays all day to 4PM. During the day, they send us videos of her progress as well as tips on how to do them at home in the future. When we pick her up, he spends 30 minutes to an hour giving human training on how to handle her. They are always available to us if we have questions or concerns or just to answer anything we need to know. Sadie is a whole new amazing dog. She is obedient, house broken, she’s calm, and goes in her crate every time without any trouble at all. And she never nuisance barks. Without Sit Means Sit, we couldn’t keep her. She was too big, too strong and too wild. She did $3000 in damage to my home and I couldn’t take it anymore. We thank you Dave and Justin for everything. If you’re concerned about the price, then you need to look somewhere else for a second rate trainer. You get what you pay for, and we would pay any amount for Sadie. I hope this helps anyone who is making the pricey decision to get training for your baby. It’s Beyond worth the money. Thank you!!!

We signed our 8 month old Weimeraner up for lessons. She was a good dog but still needed a lot of correction and disliked being on the leash. As Justin (trainer) says - she needs confidence. These lessons have made her more confident. Ginnie can now walk on the leash without pulling, without stopping and smelling, etc. she is looking to us for cues and following our directions. Ginnie is barking less, jumping less, able to be placed or sent out of the room. Honestly these lessons have been a game-changer I am really confident that she will be a dog we can take places, which is what we wanted! Everyone at Sit Means Sit is energetic, communicative, positive, and clearly love dogs. I trust that our puppy is in good hands, every time we pick her up we are blown away with how much she learned and I love that they send us videos to update us. If you are wondering whether it is worth the money it 1000% is!

I would rate 10 stars if I could. Our dog, Zoey had numerous issues that we feared would always hold us back from fully enjoying her the way we should be able to. Tori did an amazing job and Zoey took so well to her! They are super informative and supportive right from the consult, and honest about what your dog particularly needs. The money is SO worth it, and I’m not one to just drop money on anything. If you think about it, people are willing to spend over a 1,000 just to GET a dog and all of these materialistic things, but for some reason everyone is too scared to invest money in the proper training for their dog. We knew we weren’t being fair to our dog because they really don’t know any better until they’re properly trained and they can’t perform at their full potential. And to be honest it’s really US as the owners who need the training! We knew it was an investment, but also knew it was worth it to be able to enjoy her and in return give her the freedom she deserves for the rest of her life. SMS made things possible that we only ever dreamed of for our Zoey girl. Thank you so much!!

My dog Titan is a sweetheart, but he has grown to be very territorial over our home, which is great, but we live in downtown Auburn in a busy area so he is constantly barking and being obnoxious. What is worse is that if anyone comes into our fenced in backyard, he will freak out and sometimes bite, which I mean on the one hand I can understand, but on the other hand, biting is not okay.Fearful that he was going to get into trouble, I spoke with my vet Dr. Andrea at Chestnut Ridge Animal Hospital, who is fabulous, and she suggested Sit Means Sit. I called that same day, having never heard of the place before, I took both of my little loves to the consultation with Dave and was surprised to hear the methods that they use to train dogs. I wont lie, I was blown away by the five minutes that Titan spent with Dave and we signed him up for three full-day trainings. The first day, when Titan got home, he was exhausted and he was anxious, but I was relieved to see that the next day, he was wagging his tail when we put his new collar on and were working with him around the house. Since this time, Titan has completely 180ed, his personality is the same, but he is no longer freaking out if people come to our door, he is more loving and has become more calm.I honestly dont know if we would still have Titan if it wasnt for Sit Means Sit because he was going down the rabbit hole towards the label aggressive dog and we have a lot of small children in our lives. I highly recommend this dog training to anyone with a dog, Dave is awesome and the staff is friendly and kind. Titan knows where we are going when we leave the house and start driving and his tail wags and he smiles, which is enough of a review for me!

Brittany and the SMSDT team was able to help our dog within 3 hours, let alone what I thought was a heavy near impossible lift in 3 days of training spanning a few weeks. Video updates sent via text show updates and results. Well done.I was skeptical at first digging my heels in .. erring on the side of patience. My wife signed us up. I worked hundreds of hours with our puppy. She is 8 months old and reactive to other dogs yet gets along fine with our other dog, plays with the 3 cats, and has a handful of dogs that she’s fine with. On walks, hikes, and vacations it’s embarrassing to have a reactive dog ( to other dogs ) on walks or public spaces in what should be a peaceful environment. Not only has our dog learned quickly, we have as well through the end of day training sessions for owners to get aligned on the process..We have 2 weeks left of training but the results from day 1 alone was a paradigm shift and warranted this review.

I came here for a consultation for my 5 and a half month old husky who is not house broken. Upon entering dave seemed very nice, shook my hand and my s/o hand and introduced himself. We went into a room where he did answer our questions but was very very rude. I explained all of our concerns and asked if we could let our dog off the leash because she was pulling and choking herself and he told us, “no, she’s going to pee everywhere”, we then explained that she is pee pad trained and will not go unless there is a pee pad there and he still told us no. Our puppy was then smelling the baseboards. After explaining the concerns of our puppy chewing up baseboards WHILE she is in her crate and asked us to remove her from the baseboards. Mind you our puppy is scared and trying to find anything to find her comfort. We then touched topic on the day training program and he wants 2,045 dollars for 4 classes and life time training. I do get the lifetime training part but for that price it is just ridiculous. All in all save your time and money and don’t take ur dog here as my dog was showing signs that she was visably scared.
