We are very unhappy after leaving our Chocolate Lab there for the week end of August 24th. My husband had been talking to them off and on the week b4 getting all the info. We even went day b4 to check things out. They showed each of us a nice large kennel where Hudson would be housed. I said I was relieved since my dog had extreme anxiety when enclosed in any space especially a small one. She assured me they were experienced in handling sensitive dogs. We also had medication for his anxiety. They showed my husband a big play area where the dogs could expell pent up energy.So we dropped off our beloved pet on Friday the 23rd with food, bedding and his medication.On Sunday the 25th when we came to pick up our pet the attendant told her Co worker to get the him and to watch out for the puddle of drool by his kennel. I could hear his constant barking. I followed her to a different area than what I was initially shown and saw my dog in a small kennel with a 3 foot puddle of drool in front of it! I demanded to know why he wasnt in larger one as promised, but they had no answer. He had cuts all over his face and legs. The manager called it kennel rub. They had not given him all his food or the medication. Still waiting to hear from the owner. Never again. And because he wasnt vetted he couldnt play with other dogs. So he was locked up all week end except for potty breaks. They could of had us bring him in to be vetted if told to.

They are absolutely wonderful! The only place we will board our dogs. The dogs love it and have a great time there and so we dont feel quite as bad for leaving them when we go on vacation. Barks and Rec are truly the best, period. Friends of mine used them for daycare which is how I found out about them. Highly recommend!!

If we knew better, we would have never brought our pup here. More than a year later, my dog still has a scar from staying here. The place reeks of ammonia, where we know now that it should just smell like dog. Take your dogs here only if theres no other option.

Great place for boarding or self wash dog. They do also offer many other services. Friendly and kind to your pets.

Barks and Rec is our goto place for boarding and bathing our two senior St Bernards. Their prices are reasonable and my girls always return happy and well cared for.

Stopped in to check it out. Very impressed with everything that Ive seen. Havent used them yet, but I will soon.Changed my review to 5 stars after boarding my 2 dogs there for 4 days. What a great place! Friendly staff, reasonably priced and most importantly, my dogs acted far more relaxed when I got them home. Highly recommend.

Our dogs love this place. All we have to say is Do you want to go to the dog hotel? and they lose their minds. We usually board them for 11 days with 4-5 days off doggie daycare. They come home fully bathed and exhausted from all their fun. The employees know the dogs by name when we walk in which is very comforting. I definitely rest easy on vacation knowing the dogs are boarded here.

Chiming in after reading my moms very thorough and honest experience. My poor Chocolate lab baby bro 😢 😞 💔 I called this establishment and left a voicemail asking for an explanation and they never called me back. Unfortunately for them, I will follow through in person when Im in town next. I ~am~ that awful. 😃

Been boarding my dogs here for last 5 or 6 years. Maria is very accommodating and my dogs are well taken care of, theyre older and one has incontinence issues. They will bathe him if he has accident. So good to them. Im also able to board our pet rabbit. Highly recommend.

Boarded my dog here while out of town to meet with clients for the week. They kept us up to date on her playtimes and even sent us pictures of her playing with other pups. Included a grooming for when we picked her up. Love this place !

My dog stayed there for just a few days and I was told that he was going to be temperament tested the first day for day care and then if he didnt pass I would get called. I never received a call so I figured everything worked out. I come in to pick him up and Im told that he wasnt put in daycare and I asked why and nobody was there that was originally with him so I was told I was going to be getting a call back the next day. Next day comes and no call then the following day (today) I have to call back and they apologize for not calling me the day before which is fine but then she tells me that he was a little snippy so thats why they didnt test him. For the past 3 years my dog has stayed with multiple people and not one person ever said he was even in the least bit snippy or that he ever even growled at them so Im pretty sure I was just lied to to cover up the fact that somebody just forgot to test him since they forgot to do his nail trim while he was there as well. Im sorry but I would rather be told that someone forgot to do something rather than being told a lie. When I picked him up one of the girls even said that he was really a sweet boy and didnt even bark when she went to grab him. I would recommend that if you bring your dog here to consistently call to make sure everything is being done that you want. They got two stars from me simply because one of the ladies there I forgot her name that helped us out with the nail trim after was the absolute best part of my experience there she honestly is one of the nicest people I have met. I wish I could remember her name because she deserves a lot of reconigtion.

If I could give this place zero stars, I absolutely would. My dog was in this daycare for about 2 weeks. Every time I would bring him in, he would literally look terrified to be there. You could tell he did not want to be there. My dog is a very shy dog, and in order for him to get out of his shell, he needs to someone there to spend some time with him. I know for a fact there is no one on one. When I went to check in on him, I was told that he does nothing but hides in the corner or stares at the door/back wall. So there is no one on one time to get him used to the place. Also, when my dog gets home, he is extremely dehydrated, to the point he’s drinking so fast that he ends up puking. And it’s not due to exercising a lot since he’s in the corner all day. I brought his water dish with him and both times I received it, it was dry. They’re not even giving him anything to drink for 8+ hours. This place is the absolute worst, and I will be making a complaint. I will NEVER bring my dog back here, nor any other dogs I may have in the future.

Barks & Rec is awesome! It is a clean, well managed, with friendly and caringstaff, and a safe environment for your canine family members! My dog hasbeen attending since Day One and loves being there as many days a week asI can get him there! He is instinctive about people and he loves everyonethere! The attention and exercise has helped tremendously with keepinghis weight in control - hes a small dog that loves to eat! The owner, Maria,prior to opening this facility took care of my Maltese that had health issues- she was at my house everyday for 18 months to give her fluids to keep hergoing! That kind of compassion is very difficult to find - it continues at awonderful doggie playland called Barks & Rec !You will love it and so will your furry family members!

Hands down the best boarding facility in syracuse. Really large sized areas for your dog, a bed and blanket included its a very home like atmosphere. Extremely clean and didnt smell. The staff was so friendly and professional and wling to help in anyway they could. My family just boarded our old blind dog there for a extended period of time, when they picked him up nt only was he happy but the staff you could tell loved him like their own. Thank you so much barks n rec its good to know when we leave our dogs are in such good care

I trust my dogs to the care of Barks and Rec. They have room so that my dogs dont feel confined and options to include them in daycare to romp and play with other dogs during the day. There is also a wash station you can pay to use even of you dont have them boarded. They will even give your dogs a free bath after a certain number of days in boarding. The employees remember my dogs and know their special diet. This place is always busy which means that lots of people trust Barks and Rec with their dogs too.

We just picked up our dog Friday the 20th and Sunday the 22nd he started “coughing” and yesterday he was diagnosed with Kennel cough. Guess who gets stuck with all of the medical bills? Me.

Our three border Collies come here all the time and love the staff and other dogs. Take your dogs here if you need daycare or boarding.

Bring my chiweenies there to get their nails clipped. The staff is very friendly and do a great job. Highly recommend!

Barks and Rec was absolutely amazing for our boy, Maxon. He was so happy and they provided a text line to receive pictures and updates about maxon. The pricing is fantastic, the staff is even better! Will definitely be using you again. Thank you for such wonderful care of our pup!

We leave our best friend here when we travel to visit family that cant handle a dog in their home during the visit. She love arriving there and loves leaving (the be a t indicator that her visit is positive for her) we pay extra for her to have play time with the day care doggos... and feel its worth it.The staff is friendly and helpful.we have used their dog wash facility several times and it is well equipped with towella,shampoo, scrubvers, smocks ,and blow dryers.

Nice setup but an office to conduct business is needed reps eating while working is unprofessional

My dog LOVES Barks and Rec. All the workers are very friendly and the owner is very knowledgeable. We cant say the work Daycare in our house unless we are taking our pup. We say the word and she is at the door waiting to get in the car! Prices are very reasonable.

Overnight boarding. Great experience overall. My dog was completely comfortable and everyone loved him. Id use them again absolutely.

They are great but I find it rather frustrating that all male dogs MUST be neutered but females dont have to be spayed. Find it kind of pointless to force one but not the other.
