Bear & Dash had their last lesson with Alisson yesterday and it was bittersweet! Both they and us, humans, have learned so many invaluable lessons we’ll be able to use their entire lives. Over 14 years ago Allison transformed our crazy puppy into an amazing dog. Until this year we still found ourselves praising her. When we decided to get a puppy it was automatic to reach out to Allison. We were ecstatic to find she was still training. However, something changed. She had lost her effectiveness. Each session highlighted the negative and not the positive. In fact one session was on how to properly use the choke collar aka training collar. After many expensive training sessions we have made very little progress except our dog has a raspy cough. Our experience has gone from amazing to disappointing! Please way your options!

As a first-time dog owner I needed all the help I could get. Alisson and Rochester Canine Academy came highly recommended. Alisson trained my very smart standard poodle and more importantly, she trained me. Otis and I used to go for “drags” (walks) and after an hour or so with Alisson, he now walks by my side, sits when we stop and obeys commands. Alisson has given me lots of ideas on how to keep his brain engaged. I have recommended RCA many times, and those who took my advice have been very happy with the amazing results. Alisson is the dog whisperer.

My adult, male Standard Poodle Charlie and I really benefited from working with Alisson! She has the gift of understanding both the dog and the owner. Charlie and I both learned many behaviors which have made our home life easier and I am now able to walk him without fear he will pull and lunge at dogs he does not know. Simple changes in my behavior have yielded big results for Charlie. I highly recommend Rochester Canine and will return to Alisson for training should I adopt another dog in the future. A+ rating!

Allison worked a miracle with my Yogi. He’s got a good boy soul, but he was a very anxious pup, and had a hard time with barking and separation anxiety after I moved apartments. He would bark and misbehave whenever I went anywhere with him, and if I left him at home he would bark in his crate. We used to go everywhere together and it was really hard to not be able to bring him places. Allison took him on very short notice while I was unwell and in the time he stayed with her he learned to socialize more appropriately and came back with the good boy soul unlocked again. She helped him to conquer his anxiety and he’s doing better than ever. He goes everywhere with me again and doesn’t act out or misbehave, and he’s so much happier being able to go on adventures with me again, and I’m so much happier being able to take him! My entire family has gone to Allison with our dogs for years now and we are truly lucky to have her in our life. My Yogi and I owe her a big thank you, as just today he came with me to the hardware store, one of his favorite places, where he had been unable to go for months because he was misbehaving. As we keep making milestones and going on adventures together, I am reminded of how much better he is doing, and am so thankful for the kind and patient work Allison has done.

Alisson will put you in the drivers seat and teach you that your dog is as good as you allow him to be. She has empowered me be teaching consistency so my dogs can depend on me to let them recognize and practice desired behaviors! I am so lucky to have her as my trainer!

I have known Alison and her dog training methods for over 15 years.She trained our first dog and our most current. I have recommended her to countless other new dog owners as she takes a balanced approach to dog training.Her support, guidance and coaching puts the underlying understanding of the why and how in the dog owners hands. Dont think it isnt work, it truly is - but her goal is to not only help you have the best possible family member, but to educate you and how we at times feed unwanted behaviors and by changing ours impacts them in a positive way.She is a wealth of knowledge - highly recommended.

My Lucas is a rescue from Puerto Rico with an unfortunate sad beginning in life. As loving and endearing he is, his anxiety and fear made life together challenging for us. Alisson came highly recommended so I took the chance. After just a few short weeks Lucas has gained confidence, I have learned how to be a better partner and together we have become an unstoppable team! We can now enjoy walks in the neighborhood, lazy afternoons on the porch and perhaps most importantly, a deeper understanding of how best to work together! I cannot recommend Allison enough. I brought my dog to her after having some serious behavioral issues at home and was very nervous about what my nexts steps were with my dog. RCA changed everything for my golden retriever (then 8 months old) and me. Before I met Alisson, Pup had broken my foot, pulling me over reacting to another dog. We had tried group lessons, and we had learned good things, but they don’t give you the tools to stop that kind of reactivity. After one lesson with Alisson, I was able to start walking Pup again cautiously, on a loose leash. Now, a few months later, he does not leave my side when we walk, and people stop me to say what a well behaved dog Pup is. He sits patiently and listens while I chat with people, or when they pet him. Dinners in front of the tv are so much better now that Pup knows “place.” I can’t say enough good things about RCA and Alisson. A++++ dog training!
