The Puppy Center - Bradford Dog Training

You can’t ask for a better dog trainer than Mary Bradford! This is the third time I’ve brought dogs to learn from Mary and her highest priorities are building a positive relationship between you and your puppy, and helping your puppy successfully and contentedly navigate the world around them.Mary makes sure each session is upbeat and encouraging. We work on a variety of skills in each class. She works with each dog and family to find solutions to individual issues, and provides a tons of resources to expand on training outside of class.In addition to training classes, Mary offers puppy play classes for puppies 11 - 18 weeks old. Not only do the puppies get to play and learn manners from each other under Mary’s supervision — you get to hang out with a bunch of puppies!Our puppy, Pepper, loves Mary and we do too!

We love Mary and her classes! I did A LOT of research on dog trainers in the area and no one came close (apparently many still use outdated alpha/punishment type techniques-yikes!). Mary only uses positive reinforcement which is the best way to train a puppy to be a polite, well mannered dog. Mary is one of those rare people who animals just gravitate to-plus she has SO much knowledge and experience with dog behavior that makes her classes priceless.You will be set up for success with your puppy after attending puppy kindergarten. She also offers level 2 classes which after completion allows you to attend higher level courses-tricks and games, on/off leash skills, loose leash walking, etc.We just completed puppy kindergarten with our Papillon and absolutely loved it. Mary not only teaches you and your pup in the classroom, but sends a wealth of information/guidelines in her training videos and various pamphlets...that way you can train at home and be confident in what youre teaching your pup.Class not only involved working on commands, she also had us work on getting comfortable with various obstacles, novel objects and puppy interactions. Our Loki absolutely adores Mary and we have loved going to class every week.There is also an option for puppy play class once a week for pups until they are 18 weeks old. Although my pup was a little too small and shy to play safely, it was a riot watching everyone elses puppies romp around! And Loki still got to watch and meet lots of people which has been great for him so far. Its a wonderful option to have you puppy learn to be a polite player with other pups-and saves you the work of finding other puppies to play with yours!We are now in the level two class and look forward to continuing to build our bond and work on helping Loki become a confident, obedient pup... I know Ill have a great dog eventually thanks to Mary.Highly recommend Bradford if you are in need of a dog trainer in Rochester...in fact, shes the only one Id recommend.Thanks Mary, we appreciate everything so far :)

We started using Marys training with our puppy Eastman when he was around 3-4 months old. Weve utilized class levels 1-3 and puppy play classes and we can say without a doubt that these classes have completely enhanced not only Eastmans life but ours as well! We get many people asking where he was trained and I think thats a huge testament to the work that Mary helps us achieve at home and during class. He is 1.5 yrs old now and we plan on continuing with some refresher/specialized classes. I cant recommend Mary and her programs highly enough - she is a fantastic teacher and resource!

Love Mary! She is a great trainer and knows how pups act (in class and at home). Mary is great at teaching classes with multiple pups but also keeps in mind the personal aspect of each pup and family. My husband and I have been going to her since puppy kindergarten! Our puppy loves going and especially loves Mary. Can’t forget to mention puppy play night is very exciting and adorable! I highly recommend going here for your training needs.

Brody, my six month old Goldendoodle puppy, and I absolutely LOVE Mary and The Puppy Center! We have been going there for several months now for Puppy Play Classes, Puppy Day School, Puppy Kindergarten, and Puppy Level 2 classes. Mary is so kind, knowledgeable, and supportive. As this is my first puppy, I have had many questions and Mary has been extremely gracious and helpful every step of the way. She goes above and beyond, giving personal attention to each pup, and I am so grateful we found her and The Puppy Center. I am always raving about how amazing she is and how much my puppy adores her! Best training class we’ve ever been to and best trainer we’ve worked with!!! I’m so confident that we are on the right track with making Maisie the most confident, best pup ever. I love that we are meeting the puppies where they are at and not assuming they know what we want them to do. Mary is so patient and you can tell she is here not only for the dogs but for the dog parents too. Having a 1 anxious and 1 reactive rescue, I soooo appreciate Mary’s program. Almost any dog can learn sit but socializing a dog properly as a pup, goes so much further IMO. When I take Maisie out in public, I get emotional because I know we are not only building the best dog for our family but we are giving her the best life we can!!!! I’m so glad I took this recommendation from the Rochester Dog Mom and Dad group on Facebook.

If you are looking for someone who will help both you and your puppy on a path to an amazing life together Mary is the perfect choice! She trains you the owner to set up your puppy for success and is amazingly supportive! There are so many things I did not think about when getting a puppy especially one who is prone to being emotional and shy and Mary really taught me how to make him a well rounded canine and I couldn’t be more grateful! The puppy day care is an absolute must it built so much confidence in my puppy. There is no better choice for a puppy class in my opinion!

I cant say enough wonderful things about Mary Bradford and her puppy training class. Our little guy, Marshal, is a mini-golden doodle and not only has he been a more manageable puppy because of her classes, but he has been a more ENJOYABLE puppy. Everywhere we go everyone comments on his good manners and happy confidence that goes beyond his breed.We moved out of state one weekend after Marshals last class and graduation, we were so sad to leave the class behind but BEYOND thankful we got to participate. Not only did Mary take care of us during class, but took the time to research our area 1000 miles away to make sure our pup got proper training in the years to come! Mary is amazing! Our pups look forward to going to the puppy center every week. Because of the puppy center, our pups are social butterflies who are excited to listen and also explore the world. As owners we have learned techniques and strategies for continually supporting the growth and development of our fur babies.

Our experience with Mary for puppy training has been fantastic! We have worked with another company as well and Mary is by far our favorite dog trainer! We have done two puppy level classes with her, had our pup attend her day school and taken a Zoom class with her. We love that she focuses on socialization from a young age and loves our pup like her own. Mary has answered all of the questions we’ve had and calmed all of our fears and uncertainties about how to handle different situations with our puppy. We will happily continue with Mary for as long as we can!

We have really enjoyed taking our newest puppy, Winston, to Marys puppy training classes at The Puppy Center! It has given Winston a great foundation of skills and helped us to form a connection with this great little dog! Marys classes are very personalized, informative, and interesting - I love how she explains the rationale behind each of the different techniques that she teaches so that you are able to easily understand and remember. Most of all, her puppy classes are a lot of FUN, and were enjoyed by all of us!I would highly recommend Marys classes, as well as her puppy socials, for any puppy - they are great for those who have never owned a dog before, as well as long-time dog owners. Her teaching style is interesting, the atmosphere is relaxed, and the results are wonderful!

We are grateful The Puppy Center was strongly recommended to us by another local trainer. We have been dog owners for years but learned so much we never knew from our time with Mary Bradford. Mary is knowledgeable, accessible and is great at what she does. We never wanted our puppy classes to end. Also, the puppy day school option was perfect for our pup. Mary has a gift for working with puppies and their humans. Our puppy attended puppy day school, completed two series of puppy classes, and has attended several puppy socials. Mary is so knowledgeable, professional, personal, and super caring and patient with puppies (and their humans). Our puppy gained lots of new basic obedience skills in class and improved bite inhibition through puppy play. Mary provides a wealth of valuable information to help support puppies and their humans, and her genuine love and care for each puppy in her program really shines through in her work. Amazing experience with Mary and The Puppy Center! We have attended two sessions of puppy training classes and could not be happier! Mary is so amazing with puppies and dogs alike. She worked with my first dog through advanced training courses, various puppy play times and even struggles my pup encountered along the way. Now, we visit Mary for training with my current giant puppy in hopes to become a Canine Good Citizen. I can not say enough good things about this business. The puppy classes and puppy day school will set your new puppy up for success for the rest of their lives. As a veterinarian with young children, I should have known better than to adopt a nippy herding breed puppy, but the training and socialization that she received at the Puppy Center has given me the peace of mind that she will be gentle with my children now and in in the future. I now tell all of my clients that as soon as they adopt a puppy they should immediately contact the owner, Mary Bradford, to sign up for classes and enroll in the day school. There are not many trainers in Rochester with the expertise, experience and ability to transform your rude puppy into a polite gentle one and most importantly help them develop develop bite inhibition (learning how to bite softly so as to not hurt anyone.) Mary is simply amazing and uses only positive reinforcement training and exposes your puppy to other puppies, different surfaces and experiences in a safe supportive environment (which is necessary for their healthy development).

Mary Bradford is a wonderful, experienced trainer. She is gentle but very effective with the dogs she trains. She has an extensive background training puppies and the puppies love her! We call her the dog whisperer! We have a very energetic, strong willed puppy. There was a moment when I was not sure we would be able to keep him, but his training with Mary is really having a very positive impact on him. If you have a new puppy, you must get in touch with Mary! We sent our labradoodle Norbert to puppy kindergarten and have taken two zoom puppy training courses. Norbert absolutely loved puppy kindergarten and would run in to see her each time! He went in a very shy puppy and came out with so much confidence. Norbert also gets so excited when he hears Mary’s voice during the zoom training courses. We have so much to thank Mary for what she has taught our puppy, as well as us!

Mary at Bradford Dog Training is absolutely wonderful. We had training classes with her 6 years ago for our husky Myley. She helped us with training and how to socialize her with other puppys. Over the years people have commented how great Myley is with other dogs and how well behaved she is. I would recommend her to anyone, you won’t be disappointed.
