We love Malcolm and Mutts, it’s become a second home for our play-all-day border collie. Aaron and Kaylee treat her like one of the family, and she’s always tuckered out after her stays here. Highly recommend!
My dachshund Matilda has been staying with Malcolm and Mutts for two years now. She is a pandemic puppy so this has really helped with her socialization and bringing her out of her shell! She’s always very relaxed and tired when she gets home 😀
Went on vacation for a week and left Sadie at Malcolm & Mutts. Thought is would be a great experience for her. Shed be taken care of and get some training while we were gone. Literally the exact opposite is what I received. I received a broken puppy back; she was lethargic, emaciated, and scared. Sadie had diarrhea, which she has NEVER had before, just like shes never shed the way she is currently. When asked where there any issues I was told she was sick once but recovered quickly after a bland diet. I sent the food and treats she needed for the week and when I picked her up I received the dry food back. Still trying to figure out what happened to my dog but every time I asked I would receive a response that hed then try to walk back when questioned more about it. Sadie has been on a raw diet her whole life, shes never had diarrhea, never had her coat falling out and never been afraid to go outside. I still have to drag her outside to use the bathroom. She looks and is acting like she was starved. Pictures dont lie, and if you look at the two Im posting you can clearly see what Sadie looked like before we left versus what she looked like after her week at Malcolm & mutts. I dont recommend.
Weve been using Malcolm & Mutts for about a month now for dog walking, doggy daycare, and dog boarding. I love the extra things I can book like a bath, pick up and dropoff, and training! Our pit bull Bruce is still a bit of a puppy but has calmed down after starting daycare and getting so much playtime! Aaron and Kaylee have taken great care of him and helped out with his training which has been a huge relief!
We used Malcolm and Mutts back in August for regular dog daycare twice a week. Our dog had successfully completed a trial day a few months back and we thought it would be good for her to play with dogs during the day rather than being at home alone while we went to work. The first couple of times we dropped her off, she seemed more hesitant and nervous than usual. When we picked her up, she seemed overly relieved, whining and jumping. She has been to another dog daycare before, and we hadnt experienced these behaviors from her previously. We chalked it up to our dog being nervous in a new environment, as we recognize our dog can be a bit hyper-sensitive.Fast-forward a couple of weeks and my boyfriend takes our dog to drop her off for the day at Malcolm & Mutts, she becomes so nervous that she jumps the fence and goes running down the street. My boyfriend chases after her and once hes finally able to catch her, he walks her back to the car and just left with our dog. We never asked for our money back (as we paid for a multi-day package and had a few unused days left) and they didnt contact us to apologize, follow-up, or anything. We have taken our dog back to the original daycare and she has not expressed this nervous/anxious behavior.Im not sure what happened at Malcolm & Mutts that made our dog so nervous, but each time I picked her up and asked how she did during the day I only received positive feedback.
I think they have good intentions, but its so disappointing. I used them for a while for my dog..every time he came home he smelled like poop/pee(they dont let you see the inside). I didnt have any other options, so I continued and would just tell my self its from all the fun. I would pay the extra money for training to be done, I never got a detailed thing at the end of the day so who knows if it ever got done. Sometimes he would come home with scratches. One day he came home a gash in his ear (would post the pic but its gory). That was my last straw, I messages the owners and got a what felt like a copy and paste response...The owners seem great, but it seems theyve lost the spark they had with having the day care.
I dropped off my pup Sparkles for a daycare assessment and he came back happy. Aaron was so friendly, and answered all my questions. He also took the time to listen to and address my questions and concerns. Malcolm and Mutts came highly recommended by many friends and I definitely got a great vibe from Aaron. I just signed up for daycare with them and I can’t wait for my dog to go have a blast there with his new doggo friends.
Our little dog LOVES his day care days! We feel good about the care he gets when he goes to play with his friends each week. When we went away recently we boarded him at Malcolm and Mutts and he did really well there which was a big relief to us. Were glad to have found a place we trust and that our boy enjoys so much!
I used Malcolm & Mutts for daycare and boarding for over a year. Since starting daycare there, I have seen a drastic difference in Leos socialization skills; he is much more confident and comfortable playing with other dogs. If we were still living in the area, he would still be a regular. I recommend them!
We’ve been sending our puppy to Malcolm and Mutts for almost a year now and have absolutely nothing but amazing things to say about these folks. They are super nice, really knowledgeable and professional about dogs. They really helped train our little guy super well teaching him a bunch of tricks. I truly can’t imagine what this past year would’ve been like without them. Turns out raising a puppy is super hard when all the adults work day jobs (even remotely). Thank you so so much Aaron and Kaylee. We are truly rooting for them!! I definitely encourage you to support their business. P.S. we moved to the Danby area last summer and we’re worried that we wouldn’t be able to keep sending him because it’s about 20 minutes away but they do an amazing job of picking him up and dropping him off for really reasonable rates.
Would not recommend. Last summer, after a week of boarding with Malcom and Mutts, our dog came back home with diarrhea and was SO SKINNY. After asking Aaron if our dog had been acting strange/not eating, he shared that there was a stomach bug going around the dogs at M&M and that many dogs had required medicine from their vet. Isnt this something you would tell us immediately at pick up? Not when inquiring 2 days later?! Meanwhile, the huge bag of dog food (and scoop) that I had left, was gone. The bag was brand new and there should have been quite a bit left over. I would NEVER take my dogs here. We since then have found other options and are much happier - now we dont have to worry if/when we go away and cant take the pups with us. Phew!
I love them!!!! We had at the time( we recently had to put down our older dog recently) 2 rather challenging dogs to deal with. They took care of them wonderfully!!!! Somehow our 2 little nutty dogs came home happy! This has never happened before. They usually seem traumatized after us being away. They were actually happy! If you need a place to board your dogs, this is it!!!
I am so happy to have found a day care/boarder that also does training. Aaron has bee great with helping me work on my dogs reactivity. I was so nervous about having her around other dogs, but Aaron did a consultation with me and my dog is actually great with other dogs. She comes back from day care so mellow. I will definitely keep going back and continue using the boarding services.
I had a very bad experience with Malcom and Mutts. My epileptic dog stayed with them for four nights and he requires medication every day to prevent seizures. We talked about medication and dosage before the drop off and again at the drop off. The dosage and timing is also written on instruction notes we provided, as well as on the pill bottle from the pharmacist. Aaron assured me they are experienced in giving pills to dogs and that it wouldnt be a problem. When I picked up my dog, I realized that he had only been given 3 pills during his entire stay, instead of the 7 he required - meaning he missed 4 doses of medication. It is likely he had one or more seizures as a result, as it is very risky for him to miss even one pill. When I asked Aaron what happened, he simply shrugged it off and told me he didnt remember forgetting to give him any medication. What a strange and unprofessional way to handle the situation. I wish I didnt leave my dog at a place where he was at risk and unsafe. I just wanted to post about this in the event anyone else is considering boarding a dog who might require medication.
Our hound Dennis stayed for 4 days in March-April 2021 and appeared to have had a great time.Owners Aaron and Kaylee are extremely kind and chill and have a nice sense of humor - when we arrived, Kaylee was wearing a dalmatian suit (!). They obviously love dogs very much. They also sell eggs from their chickens. The eggs were fantastic and only $3/dozen.We will be repeat customers next time we come to Ithaca!
I have been using them for over a year now. Highly recommend using them. They are extremely flexible, Reliable and I never have to worry about my dog, lil bear while I am working. He knows exactly where we are going when we get near there he gets so excited and just about jumps out the window to get inside. On our first visit they took a good amount of time to make me feel comfortable and introducing lil bear to the other dogs. Sometimes they have a lot of dogs there, they all get along. My dog has extreme separation anxiety, but he loves going to daycare. I use them for when we travel for overnight boarding and 3-4 times a week when working. He also has seizures and needs 24/7 supervision, without them I don’t know what I would do. I am a traveling Nurse and have to have reliable dog daycare. Lil bear has learned a lot from being there. He loves playing with the other dogs. Finding a reliable dog sitter that is affordable is hard to do, but you won’t have any concerns if you use them for your pets. They also have other services I would 100% trust them to come to my house for in home services.
Malcom and Mutts is the absolute best!! The only place I will drop my dog off. They are flexible and accommodating. Love this place. Aaron knows my dog and she seems happy to go here. My dog is high energy and it seems to work out.
I have a special needs - high risk furry baby (MG, ME & IBS) who requires upright feeding and 4 different medications given 3X daily. Kaylee and Aaron have taken stellar care of Marbles in house and drop in visits. He adores both of them so much that I can only trust them with his care.
Kaylee walked our two medium sized dogs (total of 150 pounds of dogs, together, on a tandem lead) several times. She was prompt and got along very well with both dogs. This was a tremendous help to us while we were away for a few days. Well definitely ask them to care for the dogs again, and will consider their business for bathing the dogs.
Malcom & Mutts is the best! I trust them whole-heartedly with my dog and bring her there at least twice a week for day care. I also board my dog with them and she loves it. Affordable prices and great people!
Highly recommend! We were out of town guest traveling to Ithaca for Cornell Graduation. Needed a safe place for our pup to stay while we attended graduation ceremony. Owner was very professional and accommodating. Facilities was safe and clean. Location very convenient. I would highly recommend Malcom and Mutts!
This is definitely the most flexible and affordable dog day care in the area! My dog loves going there and I can tell she listens and respects Malcolm. They clearly are passionate about what they do. I also love that there is no commitment or requirement to go every week, etc!
Aaron, was awesome and my pup was exhausted upon getting back in my car. Although it was just the initial assessment, we got a great feeling about it and we look forward to building a relationship and establishing a home for our pup here! Highly recommend!
You guys are the best. Loki has been going to M&M since he was 5 months old and 2 years later he still loves it. We’ve been coming to you pretty much the start and it’s the best decision we’ve made.
My family loves Malcom and Mutts. Aaron and Kaylee are wonderful.
Used them for 2 nights boarding and my dog was super happy and exhausted coming home. Would recommend.
Malcolm takes amazing care of our dog! And I would highly recommend his services.
Took my daughters dog there for four days and he was very well taken care of, highly recommend!
We contacted Malcolm & Mutts at the last minute and they jumped right in. They have been so wonderful to work with!
Truly caring and passionate about animals
