Acadia Canine Academy

We have an 8 month old Doberman Pinscher named Rosie who spent one month training with Jim at Acadia K9. We are beyond happy with the obedience training that Rosie received, she is a completely different pup. Our expectations were beyond surpassed by Jim and his team! The home environment that Jim offers was something that meant a lot to us. Leaving your puppy for a month is definitely an adjustment for you as well as them, so to know she was comfortable was reassuring. Jim sent us many video updates which offered a peek inside the training process. It was nice to be able to keep track of Rosie’s progress and be able to see her hard work. Jim is very knowledgeable about not only dog training but also the psychology of a dog. He taught us many things about our pup that will help her live a happy, healthy life. If you are considering getting your pup trained, we highly recommend Jim. It is an investment but one you won’t regret! There is nothing better than helping your pup achieve their true potential and happiness. Choosing Jim at Acadia K9 will always be the best decision we’ve ever made for our girl Rosie! We will also now use Jim to board Rosie when we go away, as she has built a trustful relationship with him and his team. Jim at Acadia Canine Academy is amazing! He really cares about the dogs and their owners, which makes all the difference. We’ve worked with Jim on bite work and board-and-train, and his commitment and care have stood out the whole time. Jim worked with our Shepherd Loki. Made him more social and obedient. We confidently walk an 80lb Shepherd through Home Depot and he followed all our instructions. He is also there for us in follow ups with questions and advice. Jim is a knowledgeable trainer who has worked with dogs for 40 years.

Jim, has been nothing but helpful since he came into my pups life. She was aggressive towards people and dogs, he did his board and training camp saw she needed Prozac and recommended Prozac and after he continue to work with my dog, now whenever I go away he’s the one that stays with her, she is apart of his pack and will forever be the only place she goes to. The amazing impact he has on dogs is definitely worth the price and more, it’s a dog perfect getaway while they learn to behave properly. Thank you Jim for everything!

Jim and his staff are absolutely amazing. His knowledge and experience is second to none. We have a rescue German Shepherd who was not at all socialized for the first year of his life and was very reactive (and not in a good way) to people or other dogs. After three weeks of training he is a whole different dog. So very thankful for Jim’s help with our baby. Highly recommend! 🥰

Jim Stile is a true dog whisperer. Our hound mix, Lucy spent two weeks with him and learned all the basics of obedience a a few other things that we asked for. He has a kind way with his dogs and those he trains; something that’s very important to us. He was generous with his time in “training” the dog owners to what Lucy had learned and how to handle her. My housemate and I recommend him highly.

I called Jim to discuss issues my Aussie is having around people coming to the house. He is so knowledgable about dogs. I have honestly never spoken to anyone Ive called about home away dog training that I would trust like him. My dog has heart worm issues so first dealing with that - and next up - Jim!

We are very happy with ACA training (of us humans and our mixed-breed pup,Jim🐶). As Jim neared one year old we realized that he had the upper paw and was managing us instead of the other way around. His behavior had become menacing--we became afraid to take items away from him or even pick up his poo. Since his training, hes better mannered and consistently follows basic commands. Jim S.s training provided a great foundation for us to continue working on. Our little guy is more of a rock star every day! Jims one-on-one training was invaluable!

I brought my almost one year old Siberian Husky (Dexter)to Jim for training. I did a lot of research and spoke with a lot of different training facilities and Jim was by far the most knowledgeable. My initial conversation with him and his deep understanding of canine psyche really sold me. We chose the four week program and Jim did not disappoint! Dexter has become much more disciplined and manageable. He listens using the simple commands and they work! I would recommend Jim to anyone and if I get another dog, Jim will be training them.

I have so much to say about this training facility. They are so far above any other training that I have ever experienced in my lifetime and I have had a lot of dogs in my lifetime. My little woody was left in the care of James Stile and his amazing staff for two weeks of training. when Woody went in, he can only be classified as aggressive and out of control. The dog wouldn’t listen to a single thing I said. The dog I picked up yesterday is not the same dog that I dropped off two weeks ago. My woody now sits, stays and comes when I call. he does not jump up and down and bark like a maniac when I’m trying to prepare food. I took him out in the car with me because he is my travel, buddy… And usually if we go through a Dunkin’ Donuts drive-through, he barks and growls and tries to jump through the window like a maniac… But today he sat next to me on the seat, perfectly quiet, perfectly, still watching and waiting for his pup cup to arrive. I didn’t even have to say anything to him. He just did it. his entire personality seems to have changed and morphed into a much calmer, more receptive puppy. James and his staff are all friendly and warm, and although I did worry about him every single second of every single day, I was not with him, I was easily assured when I picked him up that he had been in the best of hands. the training facility is absolutely beautiful, spectacular, clean, well organized, and warm. I appreciated the honesty and warmth of the owner as well as the staff. I cannot recommend them enough. I’ve already got two dates booked for my woody to go back and hang out with them because I need to be out of town for a day here and there and this will always be where my woody will go. Thank you so much to James Stile and staff for taking such amazing care of a piece of my heart.

Sending your puppy to boot camp is a scary thing. After 3 weeks my Boston Terrier came home a new happy dog without biting & destroying our home. And whenever I need to kennel her, she goes to Jim Stile and returns home happier & a little better behaved than before.

ACA should be at the top of everyones list when considering dog training. It is very clear the passion Jim and his team have for training and caring for the dogs left in their care. The fact he doesnt use nor believe in e-collars was a big decision for me to send my dog to him. Yes, it takes a little more effort to train & maintain behaviors but its worth it knowing im not having to physically harm my dog for him to behave. You have to realize that as the owner, you have to train yourself as much as you train your dog. Jim does a wonderful job explaining how to do this and why its important. As someone who lives in a city, I loved giving my dog the opportunity to experience a large yard to play around with. It was more like sending him to sleep away camp than boarding school.

Working with Jim was absolutely great, I cant recommend Acadia Canine Academy any higher for dog board and train work.We brought our 1-year-old, Wolf, to ACA for training. We were hoping to work on a few things, among them: recall, anxiety in public, and reactivity towards other dogs. Wolf lost a leg at some point before we adopted him, so we assumed there was some serious trauma he had undergone that contributed to his anxiety. We were hopeful that Wolf could fare well with good training.Jim was very happy to take Wolf in for board and train, and was highly generous with his time over the phone to discuss any detail or concern. Dropping Wolf off, I felt reassured that it would go well, as ACA is clean, organized, and Jims dogs are wonderfully well behaved.Picking Wolf up, I could tell Wolf had a wonderful time and made incredible progress on all of our points of improvement. It was also a great learning experience for myself. Jim gave highly perceptive observations on Wolfs behavior, and also suggested that his missing leg may have been due to an attack from another dog, which would explain his defensiveness. I hadnt thought of this, but it made a lot of sense. Furthermore, Jim showed deep interest and care in Wolf, and he gave some advice and discussed therapeutic relief for Wolfs remaining hind leg.Today Wolf is a more relaxed, more obedient, and better trained pup. We are looking forward to working with Jim and co. at ACA again.Attached is a photo of Wolf, and him doing a fantastic sit for us.

Leaving Garrett with Jim for two weeks felt like leaving him with family. Garrett came home a different and well trained dog.The best part is that Jim is always a phone call away with advice or suggestions. Love the fact that if we have to go away overnight Garrett is in great hands with “Uncle” Jim

Jim was amazing and helped our dog so much. I was nervous at first, but im so happy we made the choice to send her to jim for three weeks. She now listens so much more, and jim taught us how to ve obedient. We will definitely be sending our dogs back for refreshers.

I am beyond disappointed with Acadia K9 Academy and the so-called training services they provided for my mini dachshund, Frankie. Despite their grand promises, Frankie has not shown any improvement in his behavior after a month of training and a hefty $4,000 fee.From the start, I explicitly informed Jim that my demanding job in finance did not allow me the time or energy to house-train Frankie myself. This was the primary reason I entrusted Acadia K9 Academy with his training. However, not only has Frankie failed to learn any of the behaviors they assured me he would, but I am now left doing Jim’s job—taking Frankie out every 45 minutes to prevent accidents and dealing with his incessant howling in his crate every night and whenever I leave.Frankie returned home exactly the same as when he left. There has been no progress in his training, and it is clear that Jim did not accomplish any of the goals we discussed. I am now stuck retraining my dog from scratch, effectively throwing $4,000 down the drain.Acadia K9 Academy has proven to be utterly incompetent and untrustworthy. Save yourself the frustration, time, and money—look elsewhere for a dog trainer who can actually deliver on their promises.

What an amazing experience adopting a puppy from acadia. Its hard to summarize such an amazing experience into words. The training the puppy has from acadia, has made coming home such a comfortable and enjoyable experience. I cannot say enough great things about acadia canine. This was an experience that has set a future standard for me. The temperament, love, training, and personality the puppy we adopted is nothing short of alot of hard work provided by acadia. One of the few perfect experiences to be had in life. They are the real deal for training, and if youre lucky enough to adopt a puppy from them and youre a working dog lover you will be enthralled by the experience. Top notch, not enough good can be said.

Working with Jim was wonderful. He helped my girlfriend and I have our dogs meet for the first time as my dog historically has not gotten along with other dogs. He was thoughtful and explained each thing he was doing as he was doing it. Everything he said felt extremely knowledgeable and helped train myself and my partner to be better dog owners as much as it helped train our dogs! I felt very safe and that our dogs were safe the whole time we were working with him. It felt like Jim genuinely cares about the work he does and it showed in the way he interacted with our dogs. I will be going back here to help with all my dog training needs.

We brought our dog to Jim as we were going away on vacation and I could not leave my crazy jumping golden retriever puppy with my parents in their late eighties. You know that Jim loves the animals when you come and meet him and he tells you how he’s going to work with your dog and how to feed him etc.. Well, we came back from vacation and we have a completely different dog. He is very, very loving, but he is no longer crazy. I am very glad we brought our dog to Gym and I believe our dog was treated very well while he was with Jim fed very well and socialized very well. We are very happy with Jim’’s services at Acadia.

While I cannot attest to long term results of Jims programs, he obviously has a love for dogs and when I emailed him about an incident he called me within the hour. His advice was not one to make me feel warm and fuzzy but rather was realistic and broad scale. I wish there was a magic way to fix the problems, but as a four dog/pack owner I know that its a full time job and lifetime commitment. Thanks for your quick response Jim.

Jim is an amazing trainer who helped tremendously our 6 month cavapoo Cookie. I really appreciate the straightforward commands and instruction he provided, all through patience, positive adjustments, and continuous reenforcement. I highly recommend Jim!

Jim is an excellent dog trainer, and helped Zoe to be more obedient and got her to learn all the basic commands. Truly helped a lot with our very energetic dog. Hes a very kind a patient guy.

Jim and his staff are the most outstanding people I have had the pleasure of working with. It’s hard to leave your dog (baby) with just anyone. And Jim is the best I have found by far. Wild child Tamed.I recently adopted a Rescue Husky puppy named Angie, who I immediately knew I was meant to take care of. I had Huskies in the past and felt I could really give Angie a wonderful forever home.Once she arrived and settled in I realized that Angie had a few behavioral issues, which were concerning because she would be around my 20 month old granddaughter.I had traveled to the Hudson Valley New York area to not only visit with my daughter and her family, but also to find a new home, as I would be relocating there from Boston. I knew that Angie required more expert training than I was able to provide and thats when I stumbled upon Acadia Canine Academy in Kingston, New York. Jim, right away, was able to assess that Angie had a high energy drive which he would help her with. He reassured me that she was not aggressive or nervous, but just needed additional training to work through her issues. He was great with Angie and provided me with a wealth of information regarding her motivation.I truly appreciated that he was a very calming force not only with Angie, but also to me over the separation anxiety I was experiencing while Angie was in training. He not only gave me progress reports but he also sent me videos of my dog during her training lessons.It was comforting to see her progress with each new session. JIm was really a miracle worker for Angie. Shes back home now and doing great. Angie is still the wonderful high energy dog I adopted, but she is listening more and the behavioral issues are dissipating. Jim Stile of Acadia Canine Academy is truly a wonderful trainer. My dog, Charlie stayed with Jim for 3 weeks and came back to us a brand new dog. Before we could not walk him without him pulling the leash, barking, and constantly jumping at people. Now we can walk him outside and bring him to dog friendly stores and we couldn’t be happier about it.  When we arrived to pick up Charlie I wanted to go over what he has learned so that we can continue his training when he gets home and Jim spent several hours teaching us and answering any questions we had. I mean REALLY he took the time out of his busy day and dedicated it to us. He is knowledgeable and such a pleasure to talk to. I most certainly recommended Jim if you are thinking about training your dog. I was so skeptical of leaving my dog with a stranger because I had such a soft spot for him, but Jim is genuinely such a wonderful person on top of being a top-notch dog trainer and I could tell he really cares for each dog he trains. Jim was keeping in touch and providing specific updates about Charlie and would always return our calls. Definitely use ACA training and you will not be disappointed!

Were very happy with Jims approach to training, his careful study of and experience with canine behavior, and the insight hes able to share with us. Our pup was over a year old when she first met Jim and though we should have started sooner, its a big improvement and getting better as we reinforce what Jim worked on with her. Wed be thrilled to go back or to get a dog from Jim in the future if the need arises.

Last Fall we had Jim train our German Shepherd Nova. We had recently adopted her and she was our first dog. He really took the time to help us understand the different drives she had and how to handle her temperament so we could continue reinforcement training after her time with him. She took well to the training and we use the techniques he taught us every day. Jim showed he really cared about Nova and us as he took the time to train us while handling Nova before we left at the end of her time with him. We highly recommend him and are happy that we brought our Nova to him.

Its been about 5 months since our pup spent time with Jim. It was a wonderful experience working with ACA back then (the care in cultivating a relationship with our dog and with us, the experience and knowledge shared, the attention to detail...); and were still noticing, celebrating, and building on the foundation of learning developed during the two week board and train. When it comes time for another round of focused training, well definitely be calling Jim again. Thank you so much for all the time and energy you poured in the direction of our sweet Lena!

We boarded/trained our one year old chocolate Labrador with Jim at Acadia Canine Academy for 2 weeks. At drop off I felt comfortable and confident that our pup would get the undivided attention needed for his temperament and high energy needs. Jack has certainly gained some much needed restraint and is a much better behaved pup. Jim is a compassionate trainer who I would definitely recommend. Our experience working with Jim was nothing short of amazing. My husband and I enrolled Pippin (our 3 year old yorkie) into the two week board and train program while we were out of town, hoping that Jim could help us with some basic training, as well as give us some guidance surrounding his more problematic dominant behaviors (which include biting and guarding).Jim and Janice demonstrated an in-depth understanding of dog behavior, and utilize humane training techniques. They patiently explained the reasons behind Pippins behaviors and gave us strategies to work with him, which they demonstrated for us upon our return (even letting us take a video of them working with Pippin so that we have a reference as we continue his training at home). Now that we have specific strategies for working with Pippin we have seen much improvement. Its very clear that Jim and his staff care about the dogs they work with and you can rest assured your pup will be in good hands. We would confidently recommend Jim and his staff!

I cannot say enough good things about Jim. He truly changed my life by changing my dog. My rescue dog was in desperate need of behavior training and after two weeks with Jim she was a completely different dog. My friends have all commented on the unbelievable transformation and others ask me how my dog is so well behaved. He even boarded my older dog while he was training the puppy, which was great for the dog’s relationship as it provided a time for them to bond without me. Jim is kind, patient, and very generous with his time, and as he jokes, a great therapist to the dog owners!

My partner and I dropped off our puppy Poodle, Sam, with Jim for two weeks’ training and when we picked Sam up at the end of his session, it was very clear, undeniably obvious to us that Jim had brought Sam up to a whole different level of dog-ness, imprinting onto Sam behavioral norms that have remained steadfast over time. Jim’s expertise and refinement as a dog trainer (& dog whisperer) is the result of years of devotion to his calling. It is a pleasure and honor to have had our experience with Jim.

My dogs, Rocky and Whiskey, went to a room and board training program with Jim, one for 2 weeks and the other for 4. Jim called us and gave us updates on our dog so we always felt like we were a part of the training process. When we went to pick them up we could see how well our dogs were treated during the room and board program because our dogs were sad to leave his house. Our dogs have learned so much under this training program such as leash walking, less barking, and honestly just behaving respectfully around others outside. What I loved about this training program is that our dogs were taken outside and trained at public pet-friendly stores and areas as well. Weve contacted Jim after the training program was over with questions regarding many different things and he has always helped us because he truly does love dogs as our dogs love him. I was looking for basic obedience training for my Rhodesian Ridgeback, a notoriously strong willed and independent breed. Jim came through. Although my pup was only 8 months old he came back to me as a much more behaved and Obedient companion. Jim took the time necessary to ensure expectations were met while maintaining my dogs personality and spirit. My puppy is better all around and I recommend Jim and Acadia to others.

We were so nervous and cautious when trying to find a reputable, responsible and caring trainer for our cane corso. When we found Jim, we couldn’t have asked for more. His response time from the moment we reached out was amazing. His interest in helping us and our family did not go unnoticed. Not only did we really like working with both Jim and Ethan but our girl did as well. We are truly thankful for all of their time, assistance and resources. Jim knows his stuff. Been doing this for decades. Dolce is a service dog trained by Jim. After graduation, Dolce was able to perform the task he is expected to do and more. Jim also changed Dolces diet and he is healthier than ever.

I met Jim who needed some welding on his dog gate. I quickly realized his wisdom and knowledge about the dogs was superior. We continued to talk and his passion for his dogs was evident. I would highly recommend Jim to anyone who needs his services.

I desperately needed a dog trainer for my Rescue Shepherd/Malinois mix. Jim did not disappoint. We discussed goals and how best to move forward with the particular training my dog needed. He literally fixed my dog. He was a pleasure to work with and I would recommend highly. Jim is the real deal.

Jim is a lifesaver. We brought our 5 month old Australian Shepherd to him because we were having some behavioral issues, mostly jumping and barking. During his stay there was an accident and Jim notified me immediately. It was minor but required veterinary attention and Jim took care of it immediately, kept me informed, and covered the vet expense. He also kept him an extra week out of pocket because his injury set him back in training. We left our puppy a hot mess who wouldnt listen and now he is a new dog. I had some issues when first bringing him home reestablishing dominance and I called Jim and he helped me out even after we picked up our dog. I know I can rely on Jim for training and I really recommend him to anyone who needs help with their dogs.

We worked with Jim for our 10 month old Bernese Mountain Dog named Meatball, and we couldnt be happier with the results after just two weeks of training. Meatball came home as a new dog, avoiding typical problem behavior such as table surfing, jumping, pulling on leash, etc. Not only did Jim teach Meatball how to be an obedient dog, he also provided tips and resources on how to continue the training to improve upon the base Jim already expertly built for us. Jim is professional, thorough, and very responsive to phone calls and messages during the time Meatball was at his facilities. You cant go wrong with trusting Jim with your furry best friend.

Jim genuinely saved my dogs future and gave him a happier one! I was unprepared to help my Malinois puppy with his various behavioral challenges (biting, aggression, fear/lack of confidence) after being attacked by another dog while with a foster family. Jim kept Cooper beyond the program I paid for at his own expense because he did not think Cooper had reached his potential during that time. It was Jim, whose love for all dogs - including mine, who helped me make the heartbreaking decision to re-home Cooper so that he can have a family provide the support and luxury he deserves. Throughout all of my monthly visits during this process, Jim opened his home to me and loved my dog as if he were his own. I truly cannot speak more highly of Jim and the services he offers!

Jim gets a 10+++++ for his work, knowledge, and dedication to animals. He helped us with our 6 month old German Shepard Silo and what a difference it made. He trains dogs in his home so he can really get to know the dog and what the issues are. From the first phone call to when we picked up Silo he is right there every step of the way. His love, understanding and compassion for them is quite obvious from our first call to him. Absolutely highly recommend him to anyone. You will not be disappointed and neither will your dog. Where can I begin I met Jim Statin when I was training my 3 year old pup to become a service dogMy dog is a cockerpoo and she’s just the sweetest most adorable dog. I have never heard her bark Her birthday is in April and when she came home in June she was like an old soul I thought she would be a problem with July 4 but she never complained about the noise This is the 25th animal for my husband of 64 years and myself so we felt having her become a service dog was a good idea with both of oh our late 80s and having some health issues and after meeting Jim would be a good idea and after meeting Jim we knew it would be a great team He was so patient and helpful that Pix took to him right away and she is now a certified service dog We are so happy with the results and will always be grateful to Jim Stile

I recently contacted Jim Stile with regards to rehomeing a very special gsd. Although, Jim did not want the dog, he spoke with me several times a day for a few days. He reached out to friends and other breeders. Jim had nothing to gain from helping me. He was making no money from me, he probably lost money talking with me so often. Yet, he spent a few hours of his time talking to me and trying to help. I can not say enough about how helpful he was. I would definitely recommend reaching out to him if you want a quality gsd or need a quality trainer.

I would highly recommend Jim and Acadia Canine Academy if you are someone who is looking for honest, hands on training, and not just someone to tell you what to do and hope for the best. We did the two week board and train program with our 1 year old GSD who was having some reactivity issues. Upon meeting Jim he was anxious and weary, and when we picked him up he was licking his face haha. What I liked most was his no bells and whistles approach. We were on the verge of giving up on our Cane Corso. At ten months old she had high anxiety and a fear drive that was sad to watch and difficult to manage. Jim at Acadia helped guide us to a resolution. He made sure we weren’t just paying for a service that was going to end up with no results. We needed to get our pup on medication to ease her anxiety. We then brought her back to Acadia hoping for the best. Low and behold after 2 weeks with Acadia, our pup came home a completely different dog. It actually feels great knowing our pup has evolved into an amazing, well trained Cane Corso. Our family feels blessed. The Acadia team cares about the dogs that enter their doors. Jim was awesome with my Biscuit! He is a totally different dog and i couldnt be happier. I initially did the board and training for 2 weeks and unfortunately got Covid and Jim was more than accommodating and understanding. i had to insist on paying more for the additional 1 week +. Thank you Jim .

He and I did not have a good interaction as he called back with an attitude. He knew nothing about my dog before he hung up on because went on a tangent about something he knew nothing about. He had no interest in helping me whatsoever. He was only interested in what he was concerned about which was not a relevant concern of mine. I would never use him as a professional. And then proceeds to send me a nasty text message after hanging up.

Great service! Dropped off my pit/terrier mix for the 2 week program and saw incredible results in terms of her obedience as well as comfort around things that would previously set her off. Would definitely recommend! James sent a detailed review of what he worked on with my dog every day. Additionally he showed me important tips and tricks to continue training after the two weeks were over.

A wonderful experience! I was intrigued by the home environment but after meeting with Mr. Stiles (Jim), I was certain that ACA was truly the best around! I have a Newfoundland puppy, previously i had him with another trainer which was an absolute nightmare. We were lucky enough to find Acadia Canine Academy, my dog was 14 months old when he arrived at the academy he was very misbehaved he thought he was the boss, constantly pulling when being walked outside, jumping up on you to play, he wouldn’t listen to anything we said. Once we picked him up he was a totally different dog he listens and behaves. If anybody has a dog that has any problems not listening not behaving James is the guy to go to for your dog to be trained he is amazing. Not only is James a wonderful person to talk to, he has a lot of patiences as well as him developing a strong bond between him and the dog. When I picked my dog up I didn’t think he wanted to leave.

Full disclosure - I didn’t choose him to train my dogs. I did have a couple of conversations with him and he was rude. He interrupted when I tried to describe their behavior that I needed help with. He said he already knew everything. I tried to learn about his approach to training and he said he didnt have time to explain it and ordered me to read his philosophy on his website. I was turned off but I did this. Second phone call, he rambled on with different stories and mostly complained alot about former customers. He seemed like a negative person. I opted for another training program.

Read the reviews on Yelp, I think the owner may be writing the ones here. This trainer goes on and on about how dogs are bred so poorly that theyre defective and he cant train them unless theyre on a very high dose of prozac. This is concerning on many levels.

James with ACA K9 Enterprises is absolutely amazing. KJ had no training whatsoever he was wild and out of control. KJ stayed with ACA K9 Enterprises for three weeks and I am so pleased with his progress . I recommend ACA K9 for all of your dogs training needs.

Wasted time and money. I took my 1 year old female German shepherd there and was almost immediately told she had weak nerves and should be on Prozac. I left her in the care of Jim for a month for training which resulted in no more than what she was taught by me and my wife before she went there. I should have known that when I picked her up she was not listening to Jim and was very excited to see us.I immediately started the dog with a new trainer and after 4 -5 weeks my dog is now trained in 3 languages. She will sit, down and stay at a significant distance without raising my voice. She will only take treats when I tell her to “take it.” We just began tracking training and she is learning very quickly. Most importantly, she has become the most loving dog I have ever owned. She can also be a very fierce warrior and is super protective of our family. We hope to be starting protection training in the near future.I will say this about Jim, he’s kind and loves the dogs. I just didn’t feel he put the time into training my dog as he had said. It was a waste of nearly $5,000.

Jim took great care of our adopted dog Mickey. He was totally untrained when we took him to Jim and he came back a lot better. Would totally recommend Jim for training.

Jim took the time and effort to learn about us as well as the dog. He trains for long term successful relationships not cute tricks. Our young Shephard mix was out of control wild and willful, after a few weeks with Jim she listens and is eager to please. The best part is that Jim takes the time to train the owner as well because 99 times out of 100 it was us who were doing things wrong.

I happily and highly recommend Jim at Acadia Canine Academy. He obviously loves his profession, knows/understands canines (better than some veterinarians) and is very caring. He is very open and informative, went above and beyond to accommodate our time constraints, and has no problem with special diets or medications for those pets that need them. Buyer beware. I thought I did enough research when I picked this training program, I didn’t, until after. $2500 and 2 weeks later and no difference with my dog but plenty of excuses from the owner as to why. Prior to bringing my dog he willingly went in his crate, not the case when he returned along with now panicked barking when in there. He returned home full of mats and I had to shave him. No updates the whole time he was there and no videos to show him working with my dog. One reviewer said they received almost daily updates, why didn’t I? I feel so guilty that I sent my dog there and wonder what actually happened in those two weeks. Good gift of gab but poor follow through. I should’ve kept my dog home and donated $2500 to my local animal shelter. Money better spent.

I’m so relieved our family found Jim. We have two young French Bulldogs who were pretty much driving us insane. We could not house break them. We decided to try this as a last ditch effort before we moved into our new home. Not only did Jim and his team get my dogs on a potty schedule but they taught them so many commands in just two weeks. If you do what Jim tells you when you take your dogs home, you will have success. Now our dogs are a pleasure to be around rather than a burden. If your on the fence, just do it. It’s so worth every penny.

We brought our Elsa to Jim because she was a extremely anxious dog and because of that was very distracted and difficult to manage. she is still a work in progress but is so much better! She understands now more of what is expected of her and that’s made our life with Elsa so much easier. And she’s a way less anxious and happier dog. Thanks Jim!
