We adopted our dog Conner in 2020. The adoption process was so incredibly smooth! They were so kind and treated him with respect. So much so, he didn’t want to leave. We have now had him for 4 years and we love him. The Dog Gone Inn is the best place to adopt a dog.
After searching Pet Finder for a husky. Filling out applications and not hearing anything or being denied because I have a job and a cat. It was nice to get a quick response from Leah. She was accommodating with an appointment on Saturday for me. I wasnt planning on getting a puppy, but while meeting , I knew I found my new buddy. On the way home I named him Buddy and stopped Tractor Supply for his first shopping adventure. He did great. It did take couple weeks for him to settle in and me to learn about puppy life. Its almost 5 months now. Hes a happy go lucky, friendly pup. We are training for future adventures. Hes doing great!
Two years ago we adopted our lovely French bulldog, Rocky, from Dog Gone Inn and I am beyond grateful. When we saw the posting online, we instantly knew it was meant to be. Rocky has the biggest personality and is our little love and biggest cuddle muffin. I cannot thank Leah enough for rescuing Rocky! I think it’s important to mention that Rocky has some behavioral issues and Leah was thorough in making sure we were aware, and a good fit. Leah and hew crew continue to take good care of Rocky during sleepovers when we go away. I wouldn’t go to anyone else to bathe him, clip his nails, and pamper him because I know Rocky will be taken care of best at the Dog Gone Inn. I still send Leah pictures because I know she loves him too 🐶I’m forever grateful 🥰
Leah is amazing. She helped us adopt the perfect dog!!
Would leave zero stars. This place is UNACCEPTABLE. This picture, which others have also shown, is cruel and just sick! They don’t even have water to drink!!!! How is this place in business? Do not go near this place!!
I would like to thank Leah for making the experience of adopting a pet delightful. She replied to my husband and I in a timely manner & made the whole adoption process enjoyable. She runs an excellent shelter that locates appropriate foster homes for rescue dogs & loves each and every one she takes in. Thank you for allowing us to adopt our beautiful Husky as he has completed our family.
This is my sweet beautiful little minpin Mrs Lonnie B Wentworth, she was found on the web site and I spoke many times with Leah about Lonnie. She answer my question, when I set up a date to meet Lonnie. It was love at first sight for both of us she ran and jumped right in my car. That was 4 years ago. and the whole process has been wonderful . Thank you Leah and your workers
We really love Dog Gone Inn! We got our pup from there several years ago and hes absolutely perfect. Leah truly cares about the animals in her care and makes sure they only go to the best homes!
A month ago today we adopted Harley (aka Cinnamon- left) from Dog Gone Inn. My family and I are so happy that we found her. Thanks to them and all of the hard work that they put in has paid off. Especially for Harley. The amount of time and effort you all put forth is amazing! Thank you for doing so much good and giving pups the opportunity to be excited to have their fur-ever homes. Keeping doing what you are doing! It is not unnoticed! Thank you 😊 🙏 ❤️🥰
We adopted our beautiful girl almost a year ago and have been in love with her ever since! We needed a dog that was good with kids. She is amazing with our son. Loves to play tug a war and loves the snow. They did a great job vetting her. We took her to our vet a week after we got her and he have her a clean bill of health. Thank you for find us our girl!
Leah and her organization are incredible. I was in a situation where I acquired a neglected (though loved) dog who I was 1. Allergic to, and 2. got himself evicted from my Brooklyn apartment for barking. I was told that the best thing for him would be a mini pinscher rescue to ensure he would find a good home so we flew to Syracuse. He would nip at every person (myself included) that he’d ever met. It took weeks for him to warm to me. Giving him up was one of the most heart breaking days of my life, and with tears streaming down my face, my Uber circled around the parking lot to head to the airport and there was my buddy, laying calmly in her arms as they stood and waved to me. I was overcome with relief but also shocked he trusted her so quickly (dogs know). She gave me updates and he was fostered so quickly and ended up in a home, with siblings. I will forever be thankful to the Dog Gone Inn for taking care of my baby.
DGI PawsWe had a traumatic experience adopting a dog from Leah, here, at DGI. She also runs the inn/grooming business next door, Dog Gone Inn.We adopted a dog named Cody at the end of May 2023. The description of him on Petfinder was misleading, as well as the photos of him. Leah stated that he was 8 years old. The vet estimated him to be much older, at least 10 years old. While she had him at her business, his condition worsened. He was very sick, emaciated and dehydrated when we met him. He had cuts all over his face due to Leah clipping his hair. He was filthy and had been neglected. As soon as we got to our car, he drank so much water. Leah was feeding him a cheap brand of wet dog food and instructed us to feed him that because she stated that was all he would eat. The following day at the vet he ate the dry food he was offered and we bought him that to eat. He had giardia and a respiratory infection, and was very weak. All he did for the first week we had him was eat some, drink a lot of water and sleep. We got him medicine and everything he needed to start feeling better. We realized he was mostly if not all blind. Leah had stated he was partially blind but could get around just fine. He also could not hear. When he was able to walk around after the first week of rest, all he did was pace and walk in circles, over and over. That is all he did. He was not conscious of us, toys or our other dog. We believe he had dementia. He also was not house-trained, nor crate-trained. Leah had claimed he was both. So when we needed to leave the house or sleep and put him in his crate, he would bark, howl and scratch at the walls of the crate. He seemed traumatized by enclosed spaces. He would also go to the bathroom in his crate. While in his crate or while walking around the house he would potty on the floor without hesitation. We worked to potty train him.In the middle of July, 2023 we decided to have Cody put to sleep. He was suffering. This was a traumatic experience, all of it. This experience still has a harmful impact on our family. I am happy we met Cody. He was such a sweetheart that did not deserve the life he had. I wish we could have done more for him. We did all we could. We had wanted to adopt a second dog for our dog to have a companion. We all had him with us for a brief amount of time, and while it was a dark time, Cody’s light is what matters most. Rest in peace Cody. You are loved.
There is documented neglect of the animals in their care. These sweet souls under their “care”are not given proper housing, food or water. The conditions are completely inhumane
My fiance and I adopted our dog Lucy from dog gone inn 2 years ago. She was so happy when she came out to greet us when we picked her up. The experience of adopting a dog through dog gone inn was amazing. The staff was extremely polite and very helpful. We have brought Lucy back for a weekend stay while we went out of town and that experience was also amazing. If you want to adopt a pet, this is the place to go. Thank you all so much for the addition our family, she is amazing.
We found Dog Gone Inn through Pet Finder when we were looking to adopt a new dog. I completed an application and found out the dog I was interested in was part of a bonded pair, brothers. In the best interest of both dogs I was asked if I would consider adopting both to keep them together. We arranged a meeting to make sure we were a good fit, and instantly fell in love. I personally had never had more than one pet but getting the two of them together is the best thing I ever did! We love them so much. They are older dogs, and we knew that going in. We wanted a dog that was already potting trained and knew some basic commands already. These boys are great and Leah made making them part of our family such an easy and fantastic process. We drove 3 hours to get them and once we knew it was a fit Leah offered to groom them while we went to pick up some basic supplies. They looked great when we returned. If we lived closer we would use her daycare or boarding service as well. The love she and her fosters gave my dogs before we got them shows in my dogs wonderful temperaments.
5 years ago next month I made the best decision of my life when I adopted my Princess from Leah at Dog Gone Inn. Not only did she fully vet me but had worked with me on a meet and greet. She made sure that both dog and I were right for each other. I was so happy with Leah stepping in when the dog needed help but in getting her into my arms. So of course the following year when we wanted a kitten we went back to Leah and Dog Gone Inn. And again was so excited to take home the sweetest black kitten. I always tell those looking to adopt to check out Dog Gone Inn. I can never thank them enough for caring for both my babies and helping them find me.
So happy with my experience adoptingmy dog from here. Leah was flexible and able to work around me unexpectedly getting COVID. My dog was all up to date with his shots, neutered, and healthy when I picked him up. Hes settled in so well to my home, becoming a part of the family. If youre considering adopting a dog this is a great place to go.
The entire staff are friendly and welcoming, but most importantly... THEY LIVE ALL THE ANIMALS!!! We adopted the most beautiful rescue min pin from them and they gave us all the paperwork needed and as much of the history they knew. He was very well cared for and is a wonderful addition to our little family. They thoroughly vetted future adopting humans to make sure all the little fur babies go to good homes! They even worked with us on pick up time and location since we live 9 hrs away in Maine! We are so glad we adopted from Dog Gone Inn! We would drive the 9 hours again to adopt in the future.
Our experience of adopting a dog could not have gone any smoother. Never felt pushed to choose any dog. Leah was very responsive and helpful. You can tell how much she loves dogs and how hard she works to find them a good home.
We filled the application out at night and the very next morning got a quick response stating we were accepted in the adoption for Christian. We drove 1.5 hours to meet him and immediately knew he was going to be our dog. The process to adopt was simple, and they had provided so much already (shots etc..).I am so happy with our experience, our dog (now named Gatsby) is in amazing health and we are so happy to have found him at this specific place. All rescue dogs are different, and it must be known going into this that the dog may not always be on their best behavior. We adopted June 29, 2021 and still have no complaints about our process 1.5 months later.
Leah was wonderful facilitating my adoption of Molly; a whippet lab mix. I adored this sweet girl but at my age; wasn’t able to keep up with the Whippet in her. It was devastating to return her but, Leah found a new home with boys who could handle her.. And they all lived happily ever after: the perfect end to an adoption story!
We boarded our dog for the first time ever (shes a 1 year old German shepherd) and we were really anxious about it. Leah was so wonderful, answered all our questions and took GREAT care of our dog! My dog doesnt even eat that well at home and she ate all her food, played with lots of friends, and was well loved! I definitely recommend this place for daycare and (kennel-free) boarding!
After reading what others have said and seeing the pictures of the deplorable conditions that a dog was left in I wouldnt leave my pet hamster here!
If I could give negative stars, I would. DO NOT send your pet to Dog Gone Inn or leave in Leah’s care!!! She is a liar and the conditions in that horrific place are disgusting. I have never smelled anything worse in my entire life! These animals are not cared for, pet owners are not notified of any sickness or injury and I was left to pick up a half dead dog that was happy & healthy the week prior. Save your pets & find a trusted caregiver!
We have good things to say about our experience of adopting through DGI. We were treated respectfully and our questions were answered promptly. Our beautiful lab Violet was described accurately and she has settled into our home almost immediately, with some added bonus features we didnt even expect! The adoption fee can be kind of a shocker at first, but when you add up the costs of spaying, vaccinating, and microchipping, plus some knowledge of her background and temperament, it all makes sense. We would be very confident to recommend DGI to potential adopters!
Honestly getting Norbert was the best decision ever! Leah was super friendly and helpful, everything was clean and the paperwork was easy! I didn’t feel pressured, and got to spend lots of time with all the cats making sure I found the perfect baby, and I definitely did!!
I adopted my for baby Snickers here. They care for their animals and after a wonderful place!
I applaud Leah for what she is doing. It is a tough job. I did feel as though I was misled about all the qualities of the dog I adopted. Some of it is on me for not doing more investigating. Had to return the dog and it broke my heart. So please everyone, learn more about the situation before adopting!
I applied for a yorkie mix, 6 year old dog. They did not contact my vet for references which tells me they don’t care where the dog would go. I received one email saying to come pick him up and he will cost $950!! I asked for them to call because I had questions. All they said was he is $950, come on Sunday and he guards his food! I asked for a dog that was good with kids and cats. Can’t imagine what would happen if a child got near the dog while eating. I passed on getting a dog from them. Nearly $1,000 for a six year old dog!!!! Crazy
SHUT IT DOWN. They clearly don’t care for these animals that have to walk through feces. Abusive and disgusting.
A great place for daycare of your fur baby!! They also do fostering and adoption! I recently adopted my dog Shadow from here, and it was a great experience every step of the way!
My Springer went there three times. The third was the last. I cant say what went on as I wasnt there but the dog was visible shaken when he got home and had huge scrape on his forehead.
I met my baby girl, Renny 10 years ago & when I adopted her, Leah was there & I knew it was right. She really cares about fosters, she’s committed.
They were very caring ❤Gypsy was well cared for.
Leah is all for the animals .She cares about each and every animal. She is compassionate and caring and I would recommend her to anyone that is looking to adopt an animal or bring their Dog to her daycare....😁😁🐾♥️♥️🙏
Beware. The 650 plus dollars to adopt gets you a dog with possible severe health issues. Nothing is said upfront. Paperwork is emailed to you after they get the money and adopton is final. References are not checked nor do they check your vet as claimed.
I got this ball of fluff about a year ago and it was an amazing experience. Everyone was super responsive, friendly and excited that my cat and I clicked so well. I’d highly recommend anyone whose looking for an animal to give these folks a try.
They were amazing when we got our two kitties Logan and Morticia 2 years ago. Thank you so much! I highly recommend them!
We adopted our wonderful dog George from this rescue. Leah made the process very easy, gave us all the paperwork and vet records from his previous owner, and hes been a wonderful addition to our home. Thank you Leah!
Dont adopt from here...Do you want to adopt from a business or a place that helps pets? This is not the place to adopt from. The cost is astronomical and your furbaby is not guaranteed once you leave.Look at the reviews before you purchase.
Dog Gone Inn is a wonderful place to have your critters cared for. the people are loving, kind and knowledgeable. They have my highest respect.
Leah was amazing introducing us to our wonderful Oliver and helping us integrate him into our pack!
A nice place in a nice area.Well maintained.Leah is a hard worker who genuinely cares.
I love this place they are great with the animals and also the people I would recommend them for grooming and boarding. And if you want a new pet check them out first.
We just adopted an 8 month old lab golden retriever mix Leah was great to work with, and is highly recommended for all your pet needs. It was a pleasure! Thank you vey much!
Love this place! Leah is an amazing groomer. I wouldnt trust my dog with anyone else!
This is very reliable and animals are very well taken care of and well worth it its a non profit organization they survive on the genarosity of good people and reasonable adoption fees
Had an absolutely amazing experience. We had such an easy time getting our sweet Frosty. Highly recommend.
The owner of this business is all about the animals. You can be sure that your fur babies will be in good hands.
Deplorable conditions, do not support this business
So happy to have adopted Rambo from Dog Gone Inn, he has changed my life!
You really cant find a better place that will care for your dog. If you love your dog enough to make sure that they are happy, you definitely want them to go to someone like Leah who has her own pile of pups! Such a great place to watch the pooches while youre traveling or just want to get some time for your dog(s) to get their energy out.Ive had a couple friends adopt upped dogs from here and thats why I decided to bring my dog when I went out of town a couple weeks ago. I guess its true what they say that sometimes people dont take the time to write a review unless theyre upset. Having owned animals for 20 plus years, I know 1st hand that a pets health can change and is unpredictable. I had dachshunds for 13 and 15 years that both had a few health issues that I bought from two very reputable breeders. Two back surgeries for one and a cancer diagnosis for the second.THAT goes with the territory when you get a pet. Theres a lot that goes along with being a pet parent and we should all be thankful to have whatever time we have with a pet. Just imagine from their perspective how much they appreciate your ❤️ love🥰😉
We visited Leah and a dog here recently. Our experience from application to visit was very professional. One can tell that Leah and staff sincerely care about their animals and the two dogs we saw were in excellent condition and happy. I havent used services of grooming, etc., yet but I will say the prices are more than reasonable. They seem like the type of place that cares about the homes to which their animals are adopted.
Proprietor Leah is dedicated to dogs welfare. I adopted a dog she was fostering at the Dog Gone Inn last November. Leah made it a very positive and easy experience. More recently, my dog got lost and it was Leah who connected the dots to where I could find her. Leahs dedication to the animals in her care continues even once theyre no longer on her premises.
We recently completed our family by adopting a sweet Cane Corso (Clayton AKA Tyson) from Dog Gone Inn Doggie Daycare, and couldn’t be any happier! Great consideration and care was taken throughout the entire process to by Leah to ensure he was an ideal match for us. Truly appreciate them and we highly recommend!!
I adopted a dog from the rescue entity. The process went very smoothly. I was told up front of all of the pre-existing conditions the dog had. I was able to meet the dog in-person and fell in love with her. With that being said, I still adopted her. It was a perfect match! My best advice for any pet adoption anywhere is to ask questions BEFORE adopting and ask to meet the pet in-person BEFORE adopting. Not only will this save time for the adoption process, but it will save the pet of having a broken heart because it has to be sent back.I now take her here to get groom and they did a great job. She felt like a princess. Ill be coming back to get her groomed.
This place is disgusting. Its beyond filthy. I happened to be here once. The smell of cat pee, the awful condition of litter boxes.... I didnt even bother to look at the animals. The smell is so overpowering you can hardly stay there for more than 10 minutes. If you cant keep up with basic sanitary norms better close your shelter. I say this is abusing not helping animals.
Keep your dogs away!
We could not be happier with our Nula Mae. 10/10 would recommend
The best
Staff is well trained and can handle my Belgian Malinois
Always a good place to bring your dog
Very good experience at Dog Gone Inn.
Best doggy daycare around!
Very clean and very loving place
