I was referred by a friend. My dog is deaf and blind and I have a hard time finding a groomer that can work with my maxy. A friend of mine always bragged about this place.I figured I would give it a try. This place is amazing Miguel was so good with my Maxy. Maxy Immediately took a liking because he allowed Him to cut his hair without snapping at him. I highly recommend this place.I give it 5 stars. The price is amazing and the care that they give to these animals.,While cutting their hair is amazing.I am so happy.I will never go anywhere else.

✅I used to take my last dog to Popcorn Pawz when it was still open. This was pre Covid.Fast Forward, the old Popcorn Pawz is gone, and I was redirected here.Long story short, my girlfriend and I adopted a new dog from the ASPCA. Upon doing so, we brought her here after being with us for two weeks. We paid for a general bath, nail clipping, teeth brushing, and anal gland expression….Nearly $100 later, our dog definitely didn’t smell much better, which made me question how much they’re diluting the shampoos they use. Her nails weren’t trimmed (as requested), and her anal glands weren’t expressed (as requested). Hence, the persistent scooting. That aside, to make matters even worse, shortly after bringing her here (meaning the next day), our pristine, indoor dog developed a nasty case of pyoderma. No doubt in my mind, it came from this groomer, which seemed to be struggling to get their feet back in the game.I’m not one to leave bad reviews, but when I do, it’s usually to alert those who may also suffer the same misfortune. In the end, taking our dog here costed us a $100 grooming fee (including tip), and an even more expensive vet bill.I’ve since resorted to washing our dog myself. Even after the first wash after bringing our dog there, there was a night and day difference in her coat, and her smell. The pyoderma did eventually heal, and our dogs coat is back to being clean and looking healthy, but for the life of me, I wouldn’t take my dog to this groomer again.I work in healthcare, and if you catch a nosocomial infection like pyoderma (which is basically a contagious staph infection), it’s usually due to poor sanitary conditions. To be fair, maybe this business has since stepped up their game, but if not, they’ll be losing a bunch of customers in time (if they haven’t already).Again, quality shampoo and conditioner costed us much less than the visit, and washing the dog ourselves takes ~30mins to do.Why dilute dog shampoo, charge for services unrendered, and not keep up with proper sanitation, only to charge a premium? That said, the staff wasn’t rude. They were nice and seemed like good people, but that doesn’t excuse the fact our dog developed a nasty (unavoidable) infection from this place. My advice to them; keep a clean place, disinfect regularly (daily), deliver services for which people pay for, and don’t cut corners by diluting shampoos and conditioners — only to then charge a premium. We certainly got more than we bargained for taking our dog here.Don’t turn a blind eye if you take your pet(s) here. 🫣Lesson learned. 🧐

We brought our long haired cat here and they did an amazing job! It took a shorter time than expected (1.5 hours) and they texted when she was ready for pickup! When we got her home she was so soft and clean! Definitely coming here again, plus they have a great selection of pet food, treats, leashes, collars, etc.

Don’t take your cat here! My first visit was scheduled with Miguel because supposedly hes the only person that gives haircuts to cats. Also he supposedly only takes appointments for cats on Saturdays. I made an early morning appointment and once I arrived he complained that I should schedule the appointment earlier next time. Which obviously was not my call to begin with, I dont schedule the time. I asked him for my cat to get everything done, nails cut, bath, and haircut. She was returned to me with some areas looking choppy, but I let it go.My next appointment I scheduled in person, and they gave me the earliest time. I come in for the appointment and I arrive at the same time as Miguel. When the receptionist told him I was up first he approached me and began to explain how he cant attend my cat because the blow dryer scares cats, etc. I told him I went out of my way to arrive early to this appointment but he still refused to take her.Every time I have come in with my cat, Miguel has a bad excuse or complaint. Personally, looking at his mannerism and body language around my cat, he seems to dislike them. He behaves completely different around dogs. However, the receptionists are very kind and patient. As a cat owner I recommend going somewhere else for grooming. Because Michael will be the only person handling your cat and you will be wasting your time.

Im not one to give reviews on places, but popcorn pawz did an amazing job with my baby boy titos, he was smelling amazing, and his fur was perfectly cut, i was so surprised walking in to see him after his first haircut, when i saw how different he looked (in a really good way). Left a big tip with the groomer i forget her name, thank you for making my first experience with you guys the best, you can tell how much the groomer loved animals, i felt like titos was in good hands with her.

I really liked the job the groomer did on my babies the last time I wanted to schedule another appointment for my babies to get a cut for the hot summer months ahead. My vet faxed their vaccination shots the last time with no issues and they were seen. As Im trying to schedule them for another appointment they tell me they have their rabies and other shots, but not their bordetella shots. So I call my vet to have the fax their vaccination history and they said its not necessary to give dogs these shot unless theyre being boarded for long periods of time. Because Im overprotective of my babies and theyre white, they barely go outside, so boarding them is out of the question! I called Popcorn Pawz back up to inform them I declined on these elective shots and the girl that answered the phone refused for my babies to be seen. I asked to speak with the manager or groomer to negotiate this, but she flat out said, No! Because we are the ones that schedule. I knew I wasnt going to get anywhere with her sassiness so I just hang up and say, I guess you dont want money. I seriously dont appreciate them dictating to me what shots my dogs need to get when they are not the veterinarians and that was bad business on her part. Ill take my babies elsewhere.

When I first walked in to the establishment I was greeted warmly and provided a fair and clear price for a thorough wash and trim, even though it was a tad inconvenient that they only accepted cash. However, I do understand their reasoning behind it. Unfortunately, I have to give this business a low rating because the day after the appointment, I noticed a significant change in my dogs behavior. He started incessantly licking himself and his usual lively demeanor had diminished greatly. Upon closer inspection, I discovered that his private parts were mistakenly nicked during the grooming process and had become infected. Consequently, he now has a noticeable rash and is visibly uncomfortable and miserable. If only I had been informed about this mishap, I could have taken immediate action. I am deeply disheartened by the lack of transparency shown by this grooming establishment. My heart aches for my dog because I cant even fathom how uncomfortable he must be, and I feel utterly powerless in this predicament. This unfortunate situation could have been avoided if they had simply informed me.

This is the best grooming experience i’ve had with my puppy. i don’t really understand the negative comments towards this business. my experience was really great, the employees were great, they were super sweet to my pup and I. They broke everything down for me to understand about the grooming package. The groomer Miguel understood how i wanted my puppy’s hair cut. Everything overall was just great. Please just stop giving people a hard time and try to understand from they perspective and they policy.

First time using Pawz. I didn’t have a problem scheduling. I got there before time, and was taking care of right away. They told me that they will call to let me know when Smokie will be ready. My dog is a yorkie poo. This the first time a number 7 cut. It looked good. But the nail cutting didn’t happen, Miguel cut into the vain area and it started bleeding. This is the first time that ever happened and I wasn’t pleased with it, especially when they said that my dog have to many veins around the nails. Somebody just didn’t know what they were doing. These people justified everything that I had a complaint about. When my Smokie got home he started scooting around on his butt, I picked him up and noticed that a hard piece of poop was stuck on the side. I had to finish their job of cleaning what paid for $198.16.Someone called from pawz and asked me did anyone tell that Smokie was ready for pickup. Pitiful. I already had my dog. Poor communication. Smokie has a vet appointment on the 8th of September. My dog is miserable constantly scratching. I’m sure the tools are not clean. Poop on the butt and bleeding paw. And not only that they charge me for plague removal and my dog’s teeth look the same. I can’t trust these people. I learned my lesson.

DO NOT COME HERE. I brought two of my puppies here and there hair cuts where nice and nothing was wrong at first but a couple of days after my pups where groomed here i started noticing them non stop licking their paws. A week after and both of my pups paws started getting discoloration and they had the worst allergies ever. As you see in the picture presented. His back paws are even worst. I took them to the vet and the vet assumed its due to the groomers at this place not cleaning there grooming tools properly or not sterilizing them at all. PLEASE AVOID COMING HERE IF YOU LOVE YOUR FURRY FRIENDS.

I had a decent experience at this location, they cut the dog’s hair in a reasonable amount of time and the price fell in line with what most places charge. However, they didn’t cut the dog’s nails and he seemed pretty shaken after the haircut. He was trembling most of the time we touched him after the cut, could be from mistreatment, but this is speculation, as I can confirm he was mistreated here.

Good Afternoon,My name is Charlene Restituyo. My husband took my dog king for a grooming section on Sunday December 16, 2018at 10:00am. My husband told the groomer to be careful around the face area because they always cut it too low since he always gets swollen. We picked him up at 12:15pm Sunday December 16, 2018. The groomer did tell us that his eyes were irritated due to the cut. But after shortly when we decided to take Santa pictures king started to scratch a little and cry I thought he wanted to go home.Once arrived at home he started to cry more and I notice he started to bleed a lot so I called popcorn Paz and spoke to the senior manager who said come in.When I arrived I did not want anyone to touch my king I was scared, but she insisted on it and took him upstairs were they clean his eye and a cone was placed on his head.As per the senior manager she said it was an allergic reaction from shampoo I brought in to use for him. Which it was not because King would of had his whole entire body irritated but it was just the eye section. He uses this weekly at home since he has been a puppy. She recommended to apply hydrocortisone lotion around the area for relief. She is not a qualified vet to be recommended things for my dog. Specially when he is in pain. She even told me there’s no point to take your dog to the vet they won’t do anything it’s just irritated. Plus they will charge me more money. An hour pass and King did not stop bleeding! I had no choice but to take him to the vet who checked on him and said there is are a cut on his right eye. They did the fluorescein stain exam which proved there’s a big cut that king did not do to himself. Medicine was prescribed because it was really swollen and he couldn’t open his eye. I had to pay for all of this!I went back to the senior manager for help maybe a little reimbursement for this but she refused too! Instead said I can read you the contract you sign before giving us your dog for grooming sections. Accidents do happen but you signed the contract! I found this to be completely disrespectful and unprofessional. I trust you with my dog and you hurt my dog and think is okay? It’s not! She is not a license vet or qualified to be a groomer. She is just a manager. After a while she said email us regarding the situation which I am now. Please understand we have been loyal customers to this company. My dog has a grooming section once a month. That’s 12 times a year a total of 1,056 dollars not counting tax and tips we spend here.My dog will not be going back. They even refused to help us after all the years we have been coming here. Please if you love your pets don’t take them there!!!!Sent from my iPhone

Let me start by saying Ive never wrote a bad review on Google, Yelp, or Facebook. I do work for a marketing company and WILL be writing the negative review this place deserves, on every social platform. If I could give Popcorn Pawz no stars, I would. 1 star is highly generous. Ive been a customer of Popcorn Pawz since they opened on Riverdale Avenue. Now, you couldnt pay me to go back. Their customer service is beyond horrible and the attitude the front desk girl gave me today was disgraceful. If the managers dont want to keep losing their customers they should consider the employees they hire to work at their Riverdale location. I was warned by quite a few people in my neighborhood not to go to Popcorn Pawz. Hearing the horror stories, I stopped bringing my dogs there a year ago and started grooming them myself. Today I decided to give them a chance, as I hadnt had time groom them do to work. I wish I had waited. My husband dropped my dog off at the Popcorn Pawz at 11:30 and was told by the groomer that it would take between 2-4 hours. 4 hours later at 3:35 I called them to ask if my dog was done. The lady said he was done and then retracted the statement and said he would be done in 20 minutes or so. I knew from previous experience that they call when your dog is ready to be picked up. Still, I left my house at 4pm. On my way over at 4:05 Popcorn Pawz calls me to tell me my dog was ready. I walk in the store at 4:10 and the lady told me with an attitude that I had to pay a late fee. I thought I was misunderstanding her. I mean how can you get a late fee when you show up at the store 5 mins after they call? She continued by telling me she called me twice. Not knowing if she was confusing me with someone else, I showed her my recent call list on my phone. I explained to her that I was the one who called to find out if my dog was ready, was told he wouldn’t be ready for at least 20 minutes and just received a call at 4:05. She continued to want to argue with me, so I handed her the $10 late fee and told her they just lost a customer. That must have upset her more because she continued to want to argue with me saying she told my husband it would be 2 hours. I told her the groomer told my husband 2 to 4 hours. She then said, no we said 2-3 hours. She continued by telling me my dog was done since 12:30 and had been waiting a while for me. Confused about the ever changing story, I asked to speak with a manger. I didnt care about the $10, but I did care about the inconsistency of the story and the attitude I was receiving. I was told the manager wouldnt be in until Monday, so I asked for his/her name but she said she isnt obligated to give me the managers name. I asked for her name and she told me the same thing. I did get to speak with the grooming manager, whom wasn’t any better than the cashier. She told me the only reason the cashier had a bad attitude with me was because I had an attitude regarding the situation. At this point I thought I was on one of those prank shows. I’m pretty sure I was a victim of fraud. I don’t know how many people they do this to, but it’s certainly a good way to make extra money. I will never recommend this place to anyone. Clearly what I was told regarding Popcorn Pawz was true. I hope the managers look at their store video to see how poorly their customers are treated. It’s very obvious why their employees don’t wear name tags and don’t give out their name!

This place DOES NOT have prices listed.I have been coming here for 3 years. Recently I brought my dog who is a big dog (100lbs). His scheduled time was 11-2, three hours seems reasonable since it’s a big dog and they require extra time.At the time of drop off, they inspected the dog and stated they needed to charge $10 more due to him being to big and shaggy. AGAIN, I have been a loyal customer for three years and my dog gets a bath every two months. Where the number 10 came from? I have no idea.ADDITIONALLY, this last year they moved to their new location increasing price, which I understand.Around 1:55pm they called me and said that my dog would be ready in another hour making it now a 4hr time frame. I CANT HELP BUT FEEL IM PAYING MORE MONEY TO WAIT LONGER FOR SLOWER SERVICE?I am NOT unreasonable but seriously popcorn pawz? To a Loyal customer?Time to look else where. And even if their prices seem high because of the some of the high quality foods they have , they do have things that are affordable for people with lower incomes.

I for one do not have time in my busy life to do reviews online. As a matter of fact this is probably the 2nd review ive even given in my entire life as the treatment and disrespect received by the Owner/Manager there was beyond humane. Up until last Wednesday I had never had a bad experience with this location. Rocky was well groomed and if he werent Id bring him back and they would groom him again free of charge. Yes appointments sometimes could be hard to get but im sure after a few more reviews this place will be out of business. I have been a customer for 2 years here. Last Wednesday I had a family emergency and had to leave the country. Rocky had his appointment and I had a young family member taking him. Yes I probably should have been prepared and left payment but with everything else I was dealing with it slipped my mind. It was not till after Rocky was done grooming when I got a call that they needed payment. I explained and apologized that I was out of the country and asked if they would take credit card payment over the phone or a check. The girl on the front desk really tried and wanted to help BUT the OWNER/MANAGER got on the phone Not only was he rude and disrespectful but then got personal. First of all I had no idea that it was store policy they didnt accept payment over the phone, but the Manager made sure he told me that over and over and that I was NOBODY for him to make an exception for. After 2 years of being a loyal customer this is how I am treated! When I asked what if I wasnt able to get someone there to pay till after they closed what would happen to my dog. He stated it wouldnt be a problem that they would only make more money cause they would have to take him and board him for the night and Id be charged. So sad to say it is all about the money. All throughout my career I was always taught customers come first and customer service and respect. This established certainly lacked it. So of course they would not release Rocky and brought him back up. During this entire ordeal over the phone my friend whom was there could here the cleaning crew upstairs screaming shut up and muzzle it as dogs cried. I was so worried. Finally after a few hours I was able to get a friend to leave work to go pick up Rocky as I was concerned for his health, safety and well being. And sure enough I had reason to be. As soon as he came home and for 2 days all he did was throw up and wouldnt eat.I take full responsibility for my part and should have remembered to leave payment but when a family emergency comes up it becomes fight or flight!I will never bring Rocky here again. Rocky is thankfully doing ok now and I sure hope they didnt cause him any long term mental damage. Please beware do not bring your pets here! If they treat us humans like this with no respect or courtesy imagine how they treat our loved animals.

Here is the email I sent Popcorn Pawz following them injuring my dog.“Good Morning, My name is Alexandria and my dog is Sir. On January 9th at approximately 4pm my dog Sir was in attendance for his 4pm grooming appointment and was returned to me at approximately 5pm. While Sir was being groomed I was informed that the groomer was unable to groom around his face. I was informed that I have to bring him the next day for him to be groomed by the groomer that specializes in the face trimming. When I picked up my dog I did see that his face was not trimmed. The next day January 10th at approximately 11am Sir returned for his face trimming. The cashier called the groomer Miguel downstairs and he took my dog and my husband was told to return in 20 minutes for pickup. At around 12pm my husband came to pick up Sir and the cashier proceeded upstairs to get him. When my husband received Sir he left and put him in the car. As he looked at Sir’s face he noticed that Sir’s right eye was extremely red and he also noticed a bruise above that eye. My husband immediately returned to the location to show the cashier Sir’s face and she called Miguel downstairs. Miguel stated that “the injury could have came from the muzzle”, let me be clear “MY DOG DID NOT HAVE THIS INJURY WHEN HE WAS DROPPED OFF ON THE MORNING OF JANUARY 10th”.At 1:15pm I took the dog to the Veterinarian and was told that the injury looks like it was caused by force. We are not accusing you of intentionally hitting or hurting Sir, but his injury did happen under your care and supervision. We have photos of the injuries and I returned as soon as we left to make the cashier aware of his recent injury. We would appreciate it if you pay for the veterinarian fee and refund us half for the grooming. I will attach the invoice and the injury to Sir.”I spoke to the manager and she stated to me “ I don’t know if you or your wife have read the contract but we don’t cover blood clots and no one told you to go to the veterinarian, I’m sorry”I will take my business elsewhere... if you go here you have been warned.P.s. the email I was given doesn’t work

After going to Popcorn Pawz for the past year, today I had a bad experience. I took my mini poodle for bath, face, feet and fanny - VERY SPECIFICALLY said do not cut his fur on head, just around his eyes so he can see - and I told them I like him the way he was - rounded face. I will add that today my regular groomer who I LOVE, Pedro was not available at the last minute so I agreed to allow Carolina (I think thats her name) to do the clean up - and I communicated DIRECTLY with her. Well, I come back to get my dog after almost 4 hours (for simple bath, face, feet and fanny) and his hair is COMPLETELY botched. No effort to cut the hair from his feet pads, half-effort to cut the hair from inside ears and exact opposite of what I communicated with regard to the fur on his head and face. He looks absolutely ridiculous now - its not even a good trim.Looking for a new groomer now...HIGHLY ANNOYED

Ive never left a review but feel that as someone who works in the pet field, feedback would be helpful not only to the establishment but to anyone considering visiting.I loved when the store was located on 3601A Fieldston (which hasnt been updated to its current location on its website so make sure youre following the directions on Google, not their direct site).Since theyve relocated to 1 Riverdale Avenue, their quality of service has taken a major hit. When I last visited (late May) to get my 80lb (very friendly and trained) dogs nails clipped, the Groomer and Groomers assistant both gave me a look as if they were waiting for me to go in the back and lift him onto the table which I found weird seeing as how typically clients are not required to go into the inner parts of facilities and when I did go back there, they clearly had a Groomers table which had pedals for going up and down. Not sure if they were functional but the 2 gentleman were definitely able to lift my dog without me needing to be there.Once done, I was told that they shifted to a Cash-Only business of which I was not made aware until after my dog was done with the nail clipping making it so that I had to send my partner to find an ATM somewhere nearby to pay. Then upon exiting, the receptionist (whose intentions were clearly good) gave my dog a beef dog patty treat without asking. I didnt get upset about it but as someone who has seen very serious allergic reactions in pets, I feel that another employee in this field shouldve known to ask first especially since beef, chicken and fish are the highest allergens in the dog world.Overall, there is something clearly causing the company to change and I hope it operationally goes back to how it was at its previous location. There is so much potential where it currently is and just needs some nurturing, re-branding and proper promoting.
