Amherst Boarding Kennel

Amherst took amazing care of Dale, the Chesapeake Bay Retriever dog that i just adopted. They cared for him while he was transitioning through Rescue/Foster/Adopt and it is apparent that he was well cared for because he is very stable in temperament and in very good condition. I thank all of the staff of this organization for your great care of Dale! N Kennedy.

The team at Amherst boarding and kennel always goes above and beyond caring for my pups!From daycare to a two-week stay, I can’t say enough about how much I trust them.I love that you can scheduled a bath / grooming session before picking up!The facility is spotless. They are mindful of disposition and energy level when letting the dogs play in groups.

My Husky spent a week here while we were on a family vacation. Staff is very friendly....the price was great and my dog came back super happy. Will definitely be using Amherst Boarding Kennel again and referring others here as well.Thank you for taking care of our big baby!!!

Ive been trying to get in touch with them for boarding/daycare services, but they are very non responsive. 4 messages left during business hours plus using the contact form through their website have gone unanswered. Its a shame because Ive heard good things and they are close to home, but if they cant call someone back, it makes me nervous leaving my dog with them.

Right now I can only give 1 star as I have left messages twice and sent an email through their contact us page. Unresponsive. Not a good way to bring in new customers or give a warm and fuzzy that you’re reachable if I left my pets there. If I’m doing something wrong or there’s a reason for the lack of response, I will adjust my rating accordingly but not impressed at the moment.

We use Amherst Kennel every time we take a trip. Our dog always comes back happy and healthy with zero adjustment issues and has a great time playing with the other dogs. We usually have my mom call while we are gone to check up on him, and they’re always happy to give her an update. We love the videos they post on Facebook and the little report card we receive upon pickup! We also find their prices to be very reasonable. We recommend Amherst Kennel to everyone we know.

This is the best dog boarding and daycare place in the Buffalo area! We have taken our dog there for long and short-term stays, and he absolutely loves it, rushing in every time we bring him there. After long stays, they give us an adorable doggie report card, which we collect and treasure.

I picked up two very happy pups after a 5 day stay. Staff is very responsive and helpful. Hours for drop off and pickup are limited so scheduling may not be ideal for everyone. Worked out great for us...my boys will be returning!

There are not enough stars to show how much I love this place! After dropping off my dogs before our vacation, the staff noticed that I had not left enough medication for my dogs stay. They offered to have me call my vet to refill the prescription and they would pick it up so my dog had enough meds for the week! It definitely put my mind at ease knowing my dogs were in such excellent care! Thank you guys so much for making it easy to go on vacation with little to no worries about my pups.

I wish I had a better review to write, but my pup and Is experience at Amherst Boarding Kennel was not great. I am not one to complain or make a big deal of nothing, but I want to share my experience with others in case it can help anyone else. We recently fostered and ended up adopting a 6 year old Pitbull terrier mix. We had some out of town weekends already planned before we rescued her, so we decided to use Amherst boarding kennel as we had heard nothing but good things, my parents use them and love them. The first couple weekends we needed, they didnt have availability, but the next couple they did, so we booked them for the weekends they had. We went in for a tour and loved the facilities and the staff seemed nice and knowledgeable. We booked a couple consecutive weekends for her to stay with them. The first weekend after we picked her up, we noticed she smelled like pee. Not just a little bit, but she reeked of it. Her nails were also very frayed as if she was digging or that someone gave her a nail cut (but did it poorly). She had been to another kennel twice and this didnt happen, so it was troublesome. We gave her a bath and called the next day after we picked her up to see if they had noticed anything because no one mentioned anything when we picked her up. They werent sure what might have happened but said the weather was poor that weekend and it might have impacted her and others. They also couldnt tell us if someone cut her nails or not. Knowing it was her first time there, we thought it might have been a fluke and decided to allow her to go again the next weekend. The next weekend after we picked her up, she smelled like pee again and her nails looked frayed again. All of our friends and family we talked to that use other daycares/boarding said that they have never had that happened before and that they wouldnt use the facility again. And again, it didnt happen to the first kennel we used, so it seemed off. We decided to call and try to share our experience and let them know we were going to cancel all future bookings for now. When we called to say we had taken her twice and somethings happened that we wanted to share and that it was bad enough to us to want to cancel future bookings, they asked for the dates and after cancelling them, basically went to end the conversation and to hang up the phone and didnt act like they wanted to hear about what happened even though we said we had some things to share. Wouldnt you as a business want to know what happened and why we were upset? Could it have been something explainable or fixable where you would want to do so and keep our business? After telling them well no, we are not done and we wanted to share with someone higher up or anyone really to pass along to management, they listened to what we had to say. But again, no real answers. Couldnt tell us about why she may have reeked of pee, why her nails were frayed, and why they didnt try to integrate her with the other dogs even though both times they told us they would give it a try. To us, this is just our perception, but it seemed like they didnt feel comfortable with her breed and were intimidated by her even though she is the sweetest dog to humans and to other dogs, she is just very high energy/playful, but never aggressive. The way their set up is, the outdoor portion of the kennels back right up to the play area, so we know that this would have excited her but also stressed her to be so close to a bunch of pups playing, but not be allowed to play herself. They claimed she was a little reactive even though she is not. No manager follow up or apology given. All in all, we left very disappointed with our experience. I know this is the exact opposite of what most peoples experience has been reading the reviews, but it was our experience nonetheless. We have taken her to other facilities 10+ times since and she has never had the pee situation happen again. I would have loved for it to been a positive experience for her because the location was perfect for us, but her health is more important.

Our dog loves it here! We visit ABK for daycare and boarding. The staff is caring and helpful and they continue to reinforce our training techniques while he is there so he doesnt slip up in his manners.

Our dog stayed at the Amherst Boarding Kennel for eight days in March 2023. Several days later she developed severe itching and hair loss, so we took her to the vet, who diagnosed that she had scabies (a highly contagious parasite) and likely got it from the kennel where she just stayed. After taking the dog to the vet, I stopped by the kennel with my dog to let them know her diagnosis and to show them the dog. I invited the assistant to come out to look at the dog. She refused. Vet said it may take up to three months to get rid of the scabies with medication and medicated shampoos. Beware if you take you dog or cat to this kennel, it may just get scabies!

Loved going here. Debbie does a wonderful job grooming she truly has a talent for what she does. Love her!! Would highly recommend going here. The animals in the daycare are seen after and cared for with respect.

I take my dog here for day care and boarding. The place is always spotless, the staff obviously loves animals, and everyone is so pleasant and accommodating. The prices are extremely reasonable, also. Could there be any better endorsement after a weekend at home, on Monday mornings, my dog almost pulls my arm off to get inside and see all her human and dog friends? I have been to many kennels over the years, and this is the absolute best.

This place is wonderful. Clover has gone to day care and boarded there for 9 years. Absolutely spotless, a great facility. The staff is professional, accommodating, and most of all, loves all the dogs. Not enough room to go on about how much my dog and I love this place!

My dog was very happy when he came home. Usually it takes him a couple days after boarding to come around so we tried Amherst boarding. Very nice place. Love that kennels go indoors and out so pet has a choice.

We love it here! After being told our dog was not going to be accepted anywhere they accepted us with open arms and Athena seems to love it here! She comes home happy and tired after a day of play! Thank you for always greeting us with a smile and being so kind!

Fur kids had a great staycation.They came home happy and well cared for.I’d say avg priced. 2 dogs, 4 nights approx $250. We took a tour before, decided it was nice, plus it was close to us.We will use again.

It was my 2 dogs first time . Very very pleasant experience boarding them for a a long weekend. Staff is friendly and caring.

We love this kennel for our dog Roscoe. He is very high energy and being able to go to daycare throughout the day makes us feel at ease that he is not just sitting in a cage while he is there. Roscoe returned to us after 4 days; he was very tired but happy and well taken care of. Would recommend Amherst Boarding to anyone. His report card was too cute!

Took great care of my 2 puppies. They even answered my phone call and gave me an update on my puppies status. My puppies were happy and fed when I picked them up. I would highly recommend this kennel!!

Weve boarded our cats twice here in the past (will be 3X soon) and we have been very pleased with them. Im a helicopter mom with my fur babies, yet I dont worry about them because I know theyll be safe and well cared for. My veterinarians office recommended Amherst Boarding Kennels. 🐱🐱

My Son is active in the Army so I have his dog quite frequently more so then not as he is almost always in the middle East. 4 deployments in almost 4 years. They are always very accommodating to me and always have taken great care of Patriot. I would highly recommend this Kennel to everyone.

I have just started using Amherst Boarding for daycare and boarding and we are thrilled! Our dogs love it, the owner and employees are terrific. They work so hard making sure every dog gets taken care of.

Knowledgeable, supportive and caring staff make Amherst Boarding Kennel the only place I will bring my dog to. They go above and beyond, and know each dog as an individual- and meet the needs of each dog. They helped immensely with the rehabilitation of my now adopted rescue dog that had been in a neglectful, abusive situation. She still attends daycare, and comes home happy and tired :)

They always have a spot for my doggo when I call and they always greet me with a smile and my dogs happy to stay there! Every time I ask for a bathing or grooming session and I pick her up she’s soooo soft fluffy and doesn’t shed for days 🥰 love the workers and the facility!!! G thanks you for all the love!!

Great place to take your pup if your working all day! Theyre able to be loved and play with other dogs instead of sitting around the house. They come home nice and tired!

Take my siberian huskies there to have them groomed they are very friendly people very nice people if you ask a question they will answer you and they do an excellent job on grooming I highly recommend them

If you actually need to count on a kennel count this one out. I planned a visit out of town for the weekend. Went to check out the kennel way ahead of time took a tour with the dogs. Looked good saw the office manager. Filled out quite a few forms showed and them my dogs records. They looked them over and may have copied some. They open up at 9 am on Saturday The plan was to drop the dogs and be in NYC by 4 pm. When we arrived at the kennel we were early the doors were opened so we went in. The looked annoyed and told us they were only open for grooming. Which was fine. We sat and waited. Numerous other dogs showed up at the same time. In fact they lined up out to the parking lot. At 9 am the got to us and everything fell to cr@p. They had our reservation nothing else. In fact they appeared annoyed at us. They wanted all our records which we did not bring since we brought them before to the manager (who is not there Saturday). My wife waited and filled out the same paperwork I had previously done. I rushed home got the records. Brought them back. The line was still out the door the other clerk was arguing with someone else. They then told us our DHPP was out of date. Now they seemed real annoyed and tried to call our closed Vet. Of course they could not contact our Vet since they were closed. They told us that the DHPP had expired 2 days earlier. Their policy was black and white and we should get lost. My wife is now crying it is close to 10 am. They asked us to get out of the way they were busy. I did not travel to NYC lost our deposit and missed the visit. You cant just leave the dogs home alone.I thought OMG how could I let my dog be out of date. I had just had them to the Vet for this boarding. Today I visited the Vet. There is NO NYS requirement on DHPP only Rabies. My coverage was still good and now I am due but there is no issue and shouldnt have been at the kennel.I mentioned the clerks were arguing with someone else. They had also visited, made appointments for their two dogs and their sons two dogs to go out of town. They talked to the office manager (at least what the clerk said) they only had reservations for two of the 4 and were full. I dont know how that one worked out.Take aways:1. If they are full to the brim Get enough people in to handle the crowd.2. Dont keep blaming everything on the office manager whose not here.3. Get some people skills.4. Get organized.5, If you have special requirements tell someone before check in morning.We dont know how they would have actually taken care of the dogs but they will never get the chance and how they treated us and some others on a Saturday morning they deserve to be out of business.

Perfect loving place for your little one all the employees are in good moods take very good care of my animal and are very communicative I have never had any problems complaints or issues and Im bored my dogs here all the time my favorite thing is the report card

Facilities are outstanding. Prices for services such as daycare are average. The hours where you can talk to someone is limited. You can leave them a message but it is not always returned

I called to see if they had any availability for day I was told not until after Easter because wed rather take the $38 a day for boarding compared to what wed charge you for daycare .... I was in complete shock. Wow
