Pooches LIC

5 stars are not enough! Our dog Maya has gone to Pooches over the past three years and she really enjoyed going to Pooches. All the sudden, we had to move to Ethiopia and Maya couldnt travel with us without knowing her travel date. While we were figuring out Mayas travel from Ethiopia, Pooches took good care of her for 4 weeks in LIC. They made sure to take Maya out twice a day so that Maya could get some fresh air. Prior Mayas travel, Maya had to get checked up by a vet and get pictured for logistical requirements, and Pooches helped us to do that even if it was not their responsibilities. With Pooches support, Maya was able to travel to Ethiopia safely. Without Pooches, we couldnt get reunited with Maya. Pooches is not just a dog daycare business, but they are sincerely taking good care of dogs as their family. We will miss Pooches a lot!

A fantastic place for your pup. Went here for years and everyone was always very friendly. One day, while walking on the sidewalk, my dog got very happy/excited and ran over to greet someone I didnt know. Turns out they work at Pooches! All in all a great experience.

Ryker always looks so fluffy and happy after coming home from his bath appointment. He smells amazing and is always so eager to stop by Pooches. Thank you for treating him with so much love!

Pooches has been invaluable to us over the past 6 years with our energetic and lovable Samoyed. We have used their boarding, daycare and grooming services and have always been very satisfied. It’s a relief to know our dog will be well taken care of while he is there. The team at Pooches understand our dog’s needs and work hard to make sure they are met. A lot of new doggy daycares have opened up closer to us in the last few years, but we still go to Pooches because of the quality of the services.

Pooches is undeniably one of the best daycare services in the Queens/NYC area. Since adopting our sweet dog nearly five years ago, we are completely obsessed with her and her well-being. That said, when it came to finding and entrusting a facility to love and care for her as much as we do, it took a lot of time and research. On her first day of daycare, the Pooches staff made it known to us immediately that they loved their job and treated the dogs in the facility as their own. They are attentive, responsive, and responsible - the three main things we were searching for in finding a facility.When it came time to board, Pooches was an easy choice. We knew that our dog loved the daycare staff and our experience has always been great thus far. Once we boarded Penny we knew this was the facility for all of her needs. Our anxiety is put at ease with Pooches. We are able to see our dog through their in-facility cameras, the staff is quick to respond to emails, they have an overnight staff to always overlook the dogs, give multiple relief walks, and send daily updates of our sweet girl having the best time.We absolutely love Pooches and have been with them for the past 5 years. They have the best staff and were so thankful for every single one of them. They truly do love your dogs as their own and I would highly recommend them to any dog owner.

My pup has been going to pooches since he was a puppy, 6+ years. He’s been there for daycare, boarding, and grooming. Every time he has been well taken care of and I have always had a pleasant experience with the staff. Just today he was in for a grooming and as usual he looks phenomenal! I can tell he loves it there and the staff as he’ll see them in the neighborhood and get excited to see them. Really have appreciated them taking such good care of him over the years and looking forward to more.Recommend checking them out if you haven’t already!

Love Pooches! All of the staff are friendly and do a great job taking care of my pup as if it were their own. My dog Teddy loves going there and I think it really helped socialize him. I really enjoyed the theme days the staff would do for photo shoots, etc as I enjoyed having all the different photos of Teddy. It is my go to spot for Teddy and knowing he enjoys it (through his excited noises and tail wags) makes it easy to send him there so he gets in adequate playtime when I am stuck at a computer all day. Overall recommend - 5 stars for Pooches!

Pooches has been the absolute best for my mini goldendoodle, Poppy. Since moving to LIC 18 months ago, I have used them mainly for daily relief walks, as well as grooming and occasional boarding.They are always great and helpful taking my dog out in the middle of the day whilst I’m at work and never have a shortage of photos.Her haircuts are incredible and I know when she’s with Pooches, she is taken care of! As a single dog mom, having Pooches help take care of Poppy is such a blessing!

Pooches is our dog Jasper’s home away from home for doggy daycare. My partner Xavier and I cannot recommend them highly enough. On days when I need to go into the office, Jasper always pulls me to the front door of Pooches, wriggling with excitement to go inside and see all his buddies. The wonderful staff is so warm and communicative. From the endearing nicknames they’ve devised for Jasper to their themed photo days to recounting funny stories from the day, they never fail to bring smiles to our faces (and those of friends and family). Most importantly, we love the way they care for him - keeping him safe, giving him a blanket when he’s cold (he’s a whippet so perpetually cold), and holding him on their laps. We can rest easy knowing he is in competent hands, with people who have our pup’s best interest at heart. We are immensely grateful!

My pup and I absolutely adore Pooches! Even when not in for daycare, my pup will very stubbornly stop by the door and not move until he goes in to say “hi” to his human friends (multiple times a day). The staff is incredibly kind, accommodating, and, more importantly, genuinely love the dogs under their care. I highly recommend Pooches to anyone looking for a doggy daycare/boarding in the area. Hands down the best in LIC!

Really fortunate to have such quality dog daycare so close by! Pooches takes such good care of our Fonzie! They’re patient, kind and truly caring with our dog. We use them for daycare and boarding and have only had good experiences.they also do a drop off/pick up service which is so helpful during the work week.Would recommend to all!

There are not enough stars when it comes to the level of service Pooches provides. My dog Whiskey isn’t the easiest and they roll out the red carpet for her….I don’t trust just anyone with my dogs and I can with out a doubt say that I 100% trust Pooches with Whiskey. Knowing I have a place to take her whenever I need and that they go out of their way to accommodate my last minute requests and that she has fun is just a relief. I would recommend Pooches 1000 times over for any of your dog needs :)

Pooches has been a second home for my dog for over three years, and I couldnt be happier with the care and attention they provide. The staff is incredibly attentive, friendly, and genuinely cares about every dog that walks through their doors. My dog always comes home well-treated for.

When I got a dog 3 years ago, I knew I had to send her to Pooches! Its undoubtedly my dogs favorite place to be where she can hang out with her friends, meet new canines and also get groomed! We love pooches! Our dog, Moose has been going to Pooches for almost 4 year and he absolutely loves it. The staff is kind, knowledgeable and so great with our dog. He actually pulls us there because he’s so excited! Highly recommend !

Like many during the pandemic, my wife and I got a dog Maya who we love dearly and enjoyed spending our time with during remote work. However, when office days became mandatory again, we needed a trustworthy solution to watch Maya while we were in the office. Weve used Pooches for daycare, boarding, grooming, and beyond, and we would happily recommend them to anyone looking for someone to entrust their beloved family member.Pooches LIC goes above and beyond time and time again. In my own experience, when my wife was in labor, and we had no clear idea on when she would deliver, Pooches was there to provide the flexibility we needed to take care of Maya. When we were out of the country, Pooches went above and beyond yet again to take her to vet appointments, coordinate with pet travel logistics companies, and keep her well fed, happy and entertained while we were apart.I can say wholeheartedly that Maya considers Pooches to be her second home, and their team her family (every single walk past Pooches, Maya was pulling to go inside and whenever we would pass a Pooches team member on the street, Maya would get so excited). I would happily recommend Pooches to anyone looking for a second home for their dog.

When I first arrived to Center Blvd I was showered by love by this small business because we both love dogs! Emily the manager at the front desk was always so welcoming and helpful when I purchase large amounts of treats from Pooches. Its always a pleasure taking a trip over there to see all the happy pups play in the window!

I brought my beautiful small white Havanese for grooming, I paid $80 plus tax and tip.It’s been the worse grooming ever ! They really have no idea what they are doing ! They shaved her face like a mouse, my dog look absolutley horrible! Hopefully someone reads this reviews before spending money for grooming at this place!

I absolutely love pooches and their team. I have been using their boarding services since 2016. They provide the best care, updates and service when I board my dog. After having dealt with other services prior that provided subpar care, I am relieved that my dog is not only cared for with adequate walks and a timely medicine schedule but actually really loves the team which is saying a lot since my dog’s breed can be challenging.

Bean is so well taken care of at Pooches - whether she is going for daycare or a haircut or a bath, she always comes home a happy, happy little girl! I love the staff - they are friendly and communicative, and its always incredible when a dog place has a camera :)

Pooches is the best! My dog can be super shy and nervous and she absolutely loves the pooches team. I always feel comfortable leaving her with them whether it’s for boarding or daycare!

I cant believe how rude one of the employees from pooches was to the front door woman of my building this morning. The rule has been for a long time that you need to leave your ID to get a key. He says he doesnt carry his ID and started guilt tripping and intimidating the front door woman to give him the key, saying that the dog was going to be stuck inside all day because of her. And he claimed to be a manager. Dude start carrying your ID on you or send staff that have their ID. Dont make this someone elses problem. Everyone should know how they treat your buildings staff.

Pooches is our dog’s favorite place. He absolutely loves it and the staff treat him with great care and attention. We have used several other doggie daycares in the neighborhood and Pooches is by far our favorite. I highly recommend!

I can’t say enough good things about Pooches! Our dog is absolutely obsessed with the place, and we trust the staff to keep her safe and happy. The staff really loves all the dogs, and it’s been such a lifesaver being able to rely on them.

My dog Rogan loves Pooches! He is super happy when he comes back home! And he always wants to get in whenever we are only crossing Pooches. The staff is very friendly and always takes care of my pup! Highly recommend

Fantastic daycare for your dog. The staff is wonderful and extremely professional. You will never feel nervous about your dog being there. Also if you have to board your dog over night there will be a person working.

Whenever we say Pooches, our dogs tail goes into helicopter mode and does zoomies. Its a wonderful, fun, caring place for your four-legged family members! Dog and human approved!

I don’t have to worry about my doggy when he’s at Pooches! They love him and he loves being there. I moved out of the neighborhood but still bring him there for his grooming. Can’t find anywhere better on the UES. Affordable and they do a great job.

Pooches is Nalas favorite place to go. She is so excited when were near by and drags me there. The staff are so wonderful to her, and she gets excited when we run into them on the street. The team cares about her and treat her like family.

Pooches is the best! theyre great keeping my boston happy and well exercised and theres so many dogs there all the time! they dont do crated downtimes which is why i left our last daycare and the dogs are great at playing with each other while the handlers keep an eye. so happy with them so far!

Our pup Snickers has been going to Pooches for 6 months now since he was 4 months old. He loves it and is always so excited to go!! The staffs are always friendly and flexible. We’ve used them for daycare, boarding, grooming, and relief walks. It’s so convenient and easy to make/change reservations online too.

Puddle had a very positive experience getting groomed at Pooches today. He usually leaves the groomers in a bad mood and today he has never looked cuter and also was very happy in his demeanor (I think theres a correlation between the two!). Also he doesnt love getting brushed in certain areas so its hard to personally groom him, they did a great job of keeping his hair as long as possible while still addressing his problem areas. My dog loves pooches. Whether its for daycare or grooming, I know hes in good hands. Its also a great benefit to have the staff drop off my pup at home for days where my schedule is less predictable.

We love Bruce & Irina and the rest of the staff at Pooches! They have been so incredibly accommodating to us and patiently answer every question and concern we have with humor and years of experience to back up their advice. We brought Rocco to them when he was only 6 weeks old, as he unfortunately was taken from his litter mates and mother too young. They carefully mind him throughout the day and painstakingly go out of their way for him and us. We plan on continuing daycare and boarding Rocco occasionally with them as well, as our experience with Pooches has been nothing short of a Godsend for us and our peace of mind. Instead of being home alone in a crate all day or fenced in at home, Rocco is fed, petted, played with and near the hustle and bustle of the daycare. Bruce and Irina and the staff live this job everyday all day, it seems like they put their heart and sweat into caring for the neighborhoods dogs and their prices are very reasonable for the amount of time it covers and the pickup dropoff service they provide if youre in a pinch. Bruce also got us in touch with a wonderful dog trainer, Yuri, who teaches Puppy Obedience classes every Tuesday at the daycare. Rocco is now 9 weeks old and a rambunctious, happy, playful dog that is due in part to Pooches. Thanks guys!

We have been going to Pooches for almost 4 years and love it!! The owner and everyone who works there, truly loves dogs and it shows. Our yorkie is always happy after her spa days and looks and smells amazing! Our yorkie loves getting her haircut by Juliana and even tries to stay in the back with her after. I used to like Pooches, however, Im no longer willing to send my pup there for daycare. Shes just under 60 lbs at 8 months old. Not too long ago, I was asked if I would be ready to transition my girl to the big dog area. I said, that I would - but not yet as she is still very much a puppy. On our last visit, I dropped her off as normal, and when I got home, I logged on to watch on the webcam. Lo and behold, I couldnt find her on the small dog camera. So, I checked the large dog camera, and sure enough there she was, in a corner, clearly not having a good time. When I checked in a while later, I noticed that three dogs were jumping all over her, but the staff was too busy looking at their phones to break it up. Between moving her without my approval and the inattentiveness of the staff, Ill be looking into other daycare options in the neighborhood.

My Yorkshire Polly went to the Pooches for the first time today to be groomed. She looks beautiful and very calm. I didnt notice any stress after get home. She has very pleasant perfume on her fur and very well done hair cut. I strongly recommend Pooches Sport & Spa to everyone. Thank you guys!

Pooches has taken care of Harper since she was a puppy. Daycare full days at the beginning and then transitioned into half days. Great service! They pick her up at my apartment around 1 and I pick her up from pooches on my way home from work. If I get stuck at work they can also drop her off. She pulls me to pooches every time we walk in that direction and that shows me she loves it and they love her. I highly recommend pooches to anyone in the New York city area. Even though I now live in the city I will continue to bring her to pooches for boarding and grooming.

Absolutely love this place. It’s the only place we trust our little dog with. She gets groomed here, stays overnight here when we go out of town...it’s perfect. We’ve continued going here for almost three years now. We loved the old management and we also love the new management.I remember years back there was an outbreak of kennel cough and this place handled it SO responsibly. Even though our dog caught it, we were totally cool about it. It was the same thing as your kid catching the flu from someone at school. The Pooches team kept us in the know and did all they could go remedy the situation even though it was beyond anyone’s control. The way they handled that really impressed us.We moved away from the area about a year ago, but we still make the time to take her here for grooming and doggy overnight camp. I highly recommend it. Our dog is happy, we’re happy, everyone feels safe and responsible. I have nothing but the best things to say about this place!

My goldendoodle puppy always comes home so happy and tired after his daycare! They have a camera and you can watch your pup and see them play and take very good care of them.

This place is amazing! The owner, Alex, really cares about all of the pets. I am a veterinarian that lives in LIC and I always bring my dog to this location for boarding when I am away. My dog, Ralph, truly enjoys being at Pooches Sport & Spa. I never worry about him when I am away due to all of the staff members being so caring and helpful. I typically do not write reviews, but this place truly deserves recognition.

We love pooches! Always flexible with appointments and they really show love to our pup. The entire team goes above and beyond in every way. Juliana (Juli) the groomer is the best and we couldn’t be happier!

I took my dog for a simple wash and trim, they gave him back to me with a scar under his eye and I brought him back home bleeding. All they said was: sorry, it happened very quickly! They didn’t even offer me a refund.... I’ll make sure that everyone in this neighborhood knows about this and whatever it is they say on their website about your dog’s safety is completely false. Keep your pets safe and don’t take them here.

Quality neighborhood daycare. I use them for boarding and my dog is always happy and healthy upon pickup. The facilities are clean and the staff genuinely cares about the dogs in their care. I feel safe leaving my dog here.

They did a good job grooming my pomeranian Shea. I have taken her to numerous groomers but none were able to handle her since she is not a fan of brushes and blow dryers. Great job.. I highly recommend.

Always such great service! They take care of my baby girl, and they’re always conscious of special notes I leave regarding using skin-sensitive shampoo.

When they first opened, they’d try to build positive relationships w/neighborhood customers that made one feel welcome & motivated to return. Now staff is officious, smug, and act like theyre doing you a favor. Their grooming services have become rushed and sloppy. They used to be accommodating and accept walkins. Now they say you must keep a credit card on file just to make an appt to get a nail trim. Who needs this hassle when there are other groomers offering more thorough service at a better value?

Have been bringing my dog to Bruce for almost 2 years now...love this place my dog is always very happy and very well taken care of. All the staff is very professional and knows how to attend to your pets needs. I think the establishment is amazing and I would highly recommend this place to anyone moving into the area or who does not already take their dog to pooches.

Pooches did a great job of grooming my 2 Westies and gave great feedback of an ear infection in its beginning stages - so helpful!

Unfortunately many times on Webcam noone is interacting with the dogs.The dogs are just walking around while employees sit or talk to each other

Amazing job on my little dog 🐶 He looks adorable. The lady doing the grooming seemed to be genuinely caring and respectful towards him.

I havent used their service in over 3 years and they still refuse to take me off of their mailing list.. Ive requested multiple times, called multiple times, and written complaints and they will still spam me.

My dog gets a lot of care and attention there. The staff are really nice and I love that they do pick ups and drop offs. The process is simple thank goodness.

They are the best in the area, my dogs love to go there, price wise its a bit on the high-end but not over the top. If you have a dog that need to have a great time while he/she wait for your return, this is the place.

Walked in to have my dog’s paws cleaned after an accident with cement glue and the entire staff took such great care of her. Will be returning for the daycare services!

Absolutely love this place and their staff. My boy has separation anxiety and he drags us to go to Pooches. He feels so safe and loved there that he completely forgets all about us! Everyone cares about the dogs, and this is the warmest and kindest facility in LIC. Their groomer, Juli, also does an amazing job and leaves our cuddle monster looking like an adorable teddy bear every time. Cannot recommend this place enough.

THINK AGAIN before taking your baby for grooming here! After my pup came back home from grooming I noticed that she’s been licking her paw a lot. Then I found this deep cut on her paw! Clearly it’s from the grooming. I have to put her in cone to prevent further infection. I wasn’t been notified of the wound when I picked her up, and till now I haven’t heard anything from the owner after I emailed and called them. The receptionist said the owner will get back to me but NEVER. This is very disappointing, not because cut is bad(I have to say their did good on the hair cut) but how they react to such thing happen. I’m still awaiting their response.

I took my dog here prior to management change with no issues. I just took my dog here for $80 grooming on Sunday and he got fleas - disgusting. Will not be coming back ever again.

I loved when Bruce was in charge and they said nothing would change under the new management but there have been significant changes. It is not the same service as it was. Hopefully they were things out.

Just last week, I brought my dog here for a bath. Then I came back and realized that the sole of my dog was bleeding. I dont know what they did to my dog.

The groomer Tatiana ruined my dogs hair. I’ll never take my dog there again. And unfortunately my dog will never look the same anymore

Unprofessional, their system is not up to date, very poor customer service:I called to make the reservation for Saturday, and I was told that I should book it online in the portal. I booked it online though the portal on Tuesday. When we show up to the appointment they told me that my appointment was canceled. I looked through the email and found out that the appointment was canceled on Thursday, the reason they gave that their system doesn’t function well and it is not always accurate. What’s the point of sending people to the portal if it doesn’t do what it supposed to do. People are busy, we get tons of emails… it would be best if they called or text to let the customer know that the appointment was canceled due to unavailability.I will be looking for an alternative at this point.

We love Pooches because of the welcoming staff, warm caring handlers and bright sunny clean space. And now, an A+ for the new additions of the camera and agility equipment. We’ve been taking our dog to Pooches since he was a puppy for daycare and boarding. He’s gotten socialization, exercise, stimulation and love. We feel confident he’s in good hands and can relax when we’re away. He always pulls us in the door and comes back satisfied and tired. Also love and appreciate how passionate Alex is about his business and this community.

Service quality has suffered under new management. It’s not the same as it was. I have been a client for 4+ years and they lost my business today.

I have been bringing my dog here every couple months to get her glands expressed for almost 2 years. I walked in today and they told me they wont do it anymore unless I purchase additional services and that theyve never done that before.... Ummm she doesnt need grooming every two months... Guess I will be finding a new place.

Pooches currently has a kennel cough outbreak at there facility!!I brought my dog there this past weekend while on vacation, and when I went to pick her up on Tuesday, she could barely breath. On top of this she came back with several cuts and was BLEEDING from her paw.The owner Bruce is unaccommodating, and refuses to shutdown to clean the facility because he states that hed loose too much money, even though the Vet in the neighborhood recommending shutting down for 2 weeks. He doesnt check that dogs vaccines are updated, which caused this issue... I know this because I once went to give him the updated record and he stated he didnt need it.The facility overfills their facility, especially on Holiday weekends with nearly 70 dogs in a facility that is 2000 sq ft, which part is dedicated to grooming and receptionist space, completely an unsafe environmentBruce is a greed bastard, who doesnt care for the well being of the animals, because if he did hed never have more then 25 dogs in a space the size of a 3 bedroom apartments. I plea to all other victims of this weekends mishaps at pooches to seek a full refund and dispute the charges on their credit cards, as we as fight for him to pay associated vet bills. In addition, please contact the city at 311 to make a formal complaint. If this place was a child daycare it would have been shut down. Please share stories...

Bruce and Irene are lovely people who love dogs. Our dog had to pass a review, including vet records, which was very reassuring. They know every single dog by name! They offer a drop-off service to locals. Their staff are also indulgent to neurotic humans--usually there are several doggie parents watching their baby through the store-length picture windows! The staff wave to us, and get our dog to look at us when we come to pick him up. It is heart-warming when he jumps for joy to see us, because I think he likes it better at PoochesSpa than at home.We have also taken advantage of their grooming service, and our dog loved it as much as we did. The prices in the store up front are fair--sometimes cheaper than online! Finally, I am very very grateful to them when they called when I was running late from work during the hurricane Sandy recovery.

No other place live this around, the babys are happy there, they love to come to Bruce place.
