Dog Island City is hands down, the best daycare, our dog has ever been to. The people that work there genuinely care about every single dog. They celebrate their birthdays, take them on Halloween parades, send you tons of beautiful photos of them playing, make them treats, and really get to know the owners. Their love and attention goes far beyond daycare. I cant recommend them enough. Our dog, Dash, entered a shy dog and now he doesnt want to leave all the friends hes met. I can tell he actually looks forward to going and they have even groomed him for us - they did an awesome job. Our whole family loves Dog Island City!

I cannot recommend Dog Island City enough! My fiance and I have been taking our pup here for 2 years and its always been a great experience. They are so accommodating and are very fairly priced for a doggie daycare in this area. They accept same day walk-ins; no prior reservations needed for daycare. They can even do home pick up and drop off which was so great when my fiance and I worked either really early or really late and we were unable to do pick up/drop off ourselves.The owner Lidia and her staff are amazing and treat the dogs like their own. Our Matcha (the smiling derp in the photo lol) was always really excited to go to daycare and would pull on her leash all the way up to the door. Dog Island City is simply the best and if youre looking for an affordable trustworthy place to take care of your fur babies, look no further.

The worst and most horrible experience ever!! Hated people there and the store.Even showed them ref photo, turns out completely different. I was even questioning whose dog was this as I first saw.They also cut my dog’s nail bleeding. Almost every nail. Can’t believe how could they rude people run a pet store.I also don’t understand why they trim my dog hair on her female parts. That could lead infection. I doubt why they don’t know that. Now my dog just can’t help licking that cause disconfortment.All these cost me 95 which even was not a good price. Don’t come and run!! Save your pets!! They don’t deserve the business cause they have no love they others beloved pet.

My dog loves this place! We take her for daycare and it’s the only place in LIC that she doesn’t run away from when we walk by the door. Another perk is that no advance booking is needed, you can just show up the morning of and drop off your dog which we like because sometimes we’re not sure which days we’re working from the office. We also take her for grooming and she gets a cute cut everytime. They also tie her hair up in pigtails sometimes which is adorable!

The best grooming service ever!! Ive recently moved into the area and i was a little afraid about taking my dogs to a new grooming place since one of my dogs suffer from separation anxiety & he usually comes out shaking after his appointments- but I have to say that i was very pleased to see them so happy after getting groomed. One can immediately tell that they take good care of the dogs. I can also say that the groomer does such an amazing job! their hair is soft and fluffy and i just love how perfect they come out!I highly recommend Dog Island City.

My dog is highly anxious. I am always made to feel badly at other spots that he tends to hide when the dogs are playing. But at Dog Island City I was sent photos, he was well groomed, and they texted with updates. After his visit he was more social with other dogs and when we brought him back for his next visit he wasn’t afraid! 10/10 recommend trusting them with your pup!

Took my dog here to be groomed and I cannot recommend the place enough! Lidia was accommodating of my busy schedule, and her pricing is really fair. My dog was here for a full day, I dropped her off before work and picked up after. She is all clean and cute and cuddly. She is a border collie and her hair was quiet long, so it must have been a lot of work!

We had such a positive boarding experience at Dog Island City. Lidia was accommodating and responded right away, with many pictures / videos / updates throughout the day. We were a bit nervous as this was our pup’s first boarding experience and official socialization with many other dogs, but Lidia made us feel at ease being on vacation for the first time without our little boy. They dressed him up and took some professional photos for International Women’s Day, and he looked so happy in the photos and when we went to pick him up. We noticed that his paws were a little dirty in some pictures and were planning to bathe him when we got home, but when we arrived to pick him up, they told us they had already given him a bath free of charge!I was a bit wary reading the few negative reviews at first, but don’t let those deter you! We had a wonderful experience and will continue boarding our dog here in the future :)

The staff here are very welcoming & did a great job grooming my little Yorkie puppy. I almost cried when I saw how gorgeous he looked! It was his first time being groomed, as hes not even five months yet. I know he does stay calm when I wash, comb, and brush him at home, so Im sure it was a difficult job. They took their time to make sure he looked great, & I really appreciated that they communicated up front that it would likely take a long while bc they would go slow with him so he wouldnt get too stressed. Also, I appreciate that they took time to discuss grooming at home, as my spouse and I are first-time pet owners. Lastly, I asked if I should come back in a month, which I thought was the frequency with which I should groom him, and instead of taking advantage of that and getting me in sooner to make more money, they were honest about the necessary frequency being 1.5-2x what I thought. They explained I shouldnt need to go in so often as long as I do well with the home grooming that they explained. Were definitely coming back, & I for sure recommend this place to others.

We and our pup absolutely love Dog Island City! We had previously gone to another boarding company in LIC and always felt a bit uneasy about how our dog enjoyed the experience (our first clue was that she would fight tooth and nail to avoid going in the other companys facility!), so we decided to give Dog Island City a try a couple years ago and couldnt be happier with the decision.Lidia and her team know and care for our dog -- a lovable rescue, but one who is admittedly very skittish and not always the easiest. But shes always so excited to go to Dog Island City and actually walk through that door for a stay! And we love that we can see from the daily photos that shes in an environment where shes comfortable with the other dogs and enjoys interacting with the centers staff. Beyond that, Lidia has been incredibly accommodating with making stays work when we have flexible durations or when unexpected circumstances arise, including a last-minute drop-off when my wife went into labor early!We feel great knowing that we found a boarding center where our dog is just as happy as we are. Enthusiastic thumbs up for Dog Island City!

I hope they are not doing the service grinding dog’s teeth. My dog was growing pretty big but was a puppy when I took him there for grooming. I thought they were asking if I wanted his tooth cleaning, and I replied yes. But my dog came back with his teeth grinded, got flat four canine teeth. One of them got really way too much grinding, as he grow up and chews toys and bones the tooth started revealing its canal,. I took him to the vet and was told that he may need to do root canal. The vet said that never seen like this- teeth grinding so badly.Since then my dog starts shaking as we take him to another groomer, very scared. I believe that he got really bad experience and treatment on his teeth.It was when he was 7,8 months old while his teeth were still white and shiny. He is 2 years old now. I know it’s a bit late to write a review now but as he grew up his grinded tooth was getting worse and I can’t stop regretting that I took him to this grooming place. It was first time for him to be taken to grooming and after that we shampooed him at home. He never likes his teeth being touched since then. Recently finally we gave him try with another groomer in NJ yet he still trembles so much as soon as entering the grooming place. I made a huge mistake to take him to this place.Owner, you should ask your workers why and how it happened .

Vavie loves going there. They treat Vavie well and takes good care of my little girl. I have had some bad experience with other groomers, and I could tell by how Vavie reacted when I picked her up. With Dog Island City, Vavie has no problems. She comes back relaxed and very much her sweet little self. Thanks for always taking good care of her!

Got us in right away and the groomer was super friendly. The coat was cut a little uneven but overall they did a great job with our mini labradoodle Milo. Definitely show a picture of what you want beforehand. Will definitely be back!

I took my dog to Dog Island City for grooming yesterday. the groomer put some soap or other irritating thing into my dogs’ eyes!!!!!!!! My dog can not open his eyes and he got infection and irritation seriously. The thing is that they seems to try to hide it and pretend nothing happen at first. It was me who pointing out that there is something wrong with my boy’s eye when I picked him up.We went to vet today (cost $ 300+ and he still feels really really bad and can’t open his eyes fully even already after one day). I am worried if this will affect his sights.Although the owner of this place apologized, I don’t think I will come back and I will definitely not recommend this place to other dog lovers. I should have listened to the review below that the groomer is not professional. It’s so irresponsible and I can’t believe this happen to my dog.

Miso has been staying at Dog island city for over two years. He’s an anxious dog, and Lidia and the crew give him such tender loving care that he quickly grew to love it. So much so that he would take himself to the front door when we are just taking a walk in the neighborhood!

I highly recommend this dog daycare! The staff is friendly and attentive, the facility is clean and well-maintained, and my furry friend always comes home happy and tired from a day of play. I feel confident leaving my dog in their care and appreciate the peace of mind it provides.

Great experience! Have used a few different groomers in the area for Hugo and this was great. Our cockapoo can have tricky hair to trim but we are so happy with this grooming service, it’s the perfect length for summer. Would highly recommend in LIC area.

Such a great place they take such good care of our Italian Greyhound which is a delicate breed. They are very communicative and caring! They are diligent with how they watch the dogs and how the dogs interact with one another. They text picture updates of the dogs playing. Dog Island City is a great place to bring your dog!!!

We took our puppy to Dog Island City for day care and overnights for a year and a half. They provided incredible care, send us photos and communicate with us while were away, and are affordable! We moved out of the neighborhood but are so grateful for the care and socialization they provided our dog. Would recommend!

I took my dog here for grooming today. Our appointment was at 1pm and they told me to come back to get him at 4/4:30pm. I was waiting in the area and they didn’t call so at 4:45pm I called them, and they said he wasn’t done but would definitely be done by 5:30pm. I came back at 5:30pm and waited until 5:50pm. They didn’t explain the charges but offered to take $7 off since they were 2 hours late returning him. I appreciated this but then they said if I didn’t pay in cash or Zelle that they would add tax, so they insisted I send them a Zelle for the payment. They seemed to be in a rush so I left immediately after paying. The service here felt very lacking and there was no apology in person for how long it took. All they said was “we don’t rush our groomers” - while I understand that, they could have given me a courtesy phone call or apologized for the long wait when I was in the shop.During the time I was waiting, the staff was yelling at the dogs in the daycare. They definitely don’t seem to treat the dogs well in the daycare, and I noticed there were several owners waiting for their dogs as well.Finally, they nicked my dog’s ear while grooming and it was bleeding when I got home. They didn’t even mention this when we were leaving, but they mentioned a bald spot on his hind leg and insisted that it was not from the grooming (even though we have never once been told by a groomer about this / not seen anything like this before). Given the combination of bad service and his cut on his ear, we will not be back and would not recommend this place to anyone.

I am a recent transplant from Center Blvd to the Court Sq area. I have been going to Pooches for years & years but now I am a bit too far away to drop off my little guy there now. I found Dog Island City with the help of doing a quick google search and asking around fellow dog parents. My wife and i decided to give it a shot due to the great reviews online, word of mouth and on top of that they are very close to my apartment. I was sad that we had to stop bringing our dog to Pooches because he has made so many friends there. We were slightly nervous about the transition and for him to start all over again. Well he immediately fooled us, he loves going there and couldnt be happier. Lidia sends us pics and videos of him playing with his new friends which brings a smile to our faces. We have even received pics of him sleeping on the same bed with other big dogs which is a great step in the right direction for our dog not being afraid of dogs that are bigger than him. He really loves being there and gets excited whenever we are walking in that direction. The staff has been fantastic with our dog Iggy and couldnt be happier to see our little guy getting along and having fun with his new friends. We have also started to get him groomed there as well. I have no complaints at all. He comes back looking like a million dollars and smelling great. Most of the time when we pic him up at the end of our day hes tired and pooped out which means he had a fun and busy day. Glad to have Dog Island City in L.I.C

Weve been coming to this place for nearly 3 years now, but lately, weve noticed a decline in quality. Not only have the prices gone up, but despite adding extra services for our dog totaling $135, were disappointed to find that his ears and teeth are still dirty( they said it’s not easy to remove) – but I can easily clean myself.

I have been taking my two mini schnauzers to Dog Island City for grooming for the past year. The groomers always achieve the desired look for my pups and thoroughly clean and de-mat them. Andrea did an amazing with them this past Friday. They are also one of the more affordable options in Long Island City. I highly recommend them.

We have been taking our dogs there for about 6 months and we love it! The play area is very spacious for a city dog run. My larger dog can be timid sometimes with new people and places but she felt comparable there day #1. Always clean and I know my girls are being well cared for. The owner is so nice and welcoming. She always gives us a recap on the day after. Highly recommend!!

I found the customer service at this place to be unacceptable. The Russian assistant who picks up the phone calls most of the time is very unprofessional and rude. The lack of professionalism and courtesy displayed by the staff has left me with a negative impression, and I will not be returning. I strongly advise pet owners to seek grooming services elsewhere, where both they and their beloved pets will be treated with respect and kindness.

We took our dog here for grooming and it was just a terrible experience with the employees. Im surprised there are even good reviews because the staff there were yelling at the dogs. I would not want my dog in this kind of environment getting screamed at. It seems like they know how to smile and put their business faces on in front of the customers but its a lot different behind closed doors. Our dog came out anxious and afraid. I’ve been bringing my senior rescue here for three years for his grooming needs, and Dog Island City has done an amazing job with him. He has long hair that requires a lot of maintenance, and they always make sure to ask for a reference photo as well as many questions on exactly what I want his haircut to look like. After each appointment, my dog has a great haircut and an adorable bow tie to show off his new look. Previously, I’d gone to other groomers where my anxious dog has gotten cut or hurt during the process. Dog Island City is the opposite - they always handle my dog with gentleness and care. The staff here are also so kind and it’s clear that they genuinely care for their furry customers. I’m very glad that I’ve found them!

Such a great experience boarding my pup Winston here! The team at Dog Island City were amazing, sending me photos/updates and coordinating a pick-up that worked perfect for us. We opted in for a grooming prior to picking him up and they groomed him perfectly as well. This will be my go-to spot to board my dog for any future needs. A huge thank you to the team here!!

My dog Chase absolutely LOVED going to daycare at Dog Island City. We lived within walking distance and he pulled me towards there every time we went outside. Unfortunately we moved and he is not nearly as happy to attend the new daycares in our area. Lidia and her crew are greatly missed!

I dropped my dog off for grooming at 12:30pm and it took 6 hours to get him back. I used this place several times for grooming and it usually took between 2 and 3 hours. I didn’t receive any explanation for why it took so long, I think I drooped my dog off at 12:30 but they didn’t start cleaning him until 3 or 4pm. I definitely won’t be returning to this place anymore.

We are so happys with our puppys first haircut! We asked Andrea to cut 75% of her fur off and leave her head a bit round. We are so happy with our results. Highly recommend this place for grooming and daycare - they are truly the nicest. Thanks to Lidia and Violetta for all the best care of our puppies.

Horrible experience unfortunately. I boarded my dog here for a week and when I took him back for another boarding session a couple months later he bit and ran away from the owner and hid in the corner....a behavior Ive never seen before from my pup who loves all people. Later I learned that a disgruntled ex-employee posted on facebook that they throw water bottles at the dogs to get them to stop barking and other horrible treatments. I would never leave my poor pet there again what an alarming experience.

Hands down the ABSOLUTE BEST doggy daycare in this area! We have been sending our dog Penny here for 7 years and she’s drags us to go in here every time. Lidia and her staff literally love Penny as if she was their own. I cannot speak more highly of Lidia and everyone on her staff. These days, a lot of doggy day cares seem to only care about your money, but Lidia does it because she TRULY loves every dog she takes in.

I will never take my dog to be groomed here ever again!!I decided to bring him here because my other grooming place was unavailable.The groomer was rude and when I went to pick up my dog, he was not the same afterwards. This is a rating made because of their partnership with Korean K9 Rescue many months ago. I love that they gave up a day of business in order to host a rescue groups adoption event. I adopted a second dog from the event, and will recommend the store and its services to others in the area.

Thorough but quick! I brought in my 12 week old puppy and they took great care of her. Love her adorably and clean looking cut.

Groomer cut my dog’s whiskers and eye lashes off, assuming “some customers want that” - never asked me if I also wanted that. Disappointed by lack of clear communication and poor understanding of impact of removing whiskers from a dog. Blow dry was as expected.

I brought my 8 year old Maltese for grooming services, wash, cut and nails trim, They did a fantastic job I will definitely be using them again

I really like this place. They charge good price and they are very flexible to your requests. I always leave my dog there when I go to office or have them walk my dog.

I was interested in bringing my dog here and asked around and several people in the area complained about this place. Dogs with separation anxiety should also not come here. They are put in pens with larger, more aggressive dogs to shut them up so they dont have to deal with it, which caused many incidents. This is no way to treat a dog especially in a dog daycare. The owner was very unpleasant when I met her and seemed like she just wanted the money. Neighbors also said several clients left from awful experiences. I would be wary in taking your dog here

The staff is so friendly and personable and always have great attitudes about meeting the dogs. Boarding here is excellent and they provide pictures and updates every day. This is only for grooming.When I saw my dog she is totally BOLD. I think if you cannot do the same hairstyle, this is ok, just be honest and tell me the truth!You should NOT promise what you cannot do, please tell me exactly how those two hairstyles are same???Plus I just noticed that she also cuts the skin near her eye broken

It is a very sketchy doggie day care. My dog got bitten by another dog here and the owner Lidia is extremely unprofessional about it. 1. she didnt call me when it happened. 2. did not take my dog to the vet right away. 3. did not separate the dog who bit my dog from the pen. later on, I took my dog to the vet and she ended up with 7 stitches on the face and multiple wounds on her head and body. and now one of her wounds become infected and has to go back to the vet. and when i try to discuss the 2nd vet visit with Lidia, she snapped at me, accusing me scamming her for money and said that my dog got bitten is the dogs fault for being nervous. however, isnt the daycares responsibility to watch and prevent any aggression in the pen? also, this is the first time that I hear her saying my dog is nervous. whenever I asked her how my dog was doing, she always said that she is sweet and friendly, and sent me pictures of her playing and having fun at the daycare. now all of sudden, my dog is the problem dog. Also, when I ask Lidia which dog attacked my dog, she couldnt even identify. What a nightmare! This kind of behavior should not be tolerated. now i look back, she had never ask us for any vaccine paperwork or sign any documents which are signs of poor management. also, now im left with the 2nd medical bill to pay and any upcoming vet visits as well.please help me to spread the words so people will stay away from this place! i would hate for another dog to be subject to the same situation.

Recently I couldnt take my dog ​​to the Dog Island City grooming shop myself, so I decided to let mom go. Unfortunately, she didnt speak English and I was a little worried about how things were going to go.When mom came to the beauty shop, she met the friendly staff.
