Wantagh Park Dog Run

Huge turf dog park, its clean and dogs are friendly. Most of the owners watch their dogs. In the summer one of the guys brings pools for them. There is clean running water for the dogs.Park is closed every 3rd wends from 7 am - 11 am for cleaning.

I loved the park, it has indoor/outdoor carpet over a large area and I met the most friendly and informative people. Although I love dogs, Im not able to financially care for a dog, but Im willing to share the care and joy of others.👍❤️😍There is a large wide kiddie pool on each side for large dogs and the one for small dogs. My friend went walking and I stayed to play w the large dogs and splash them.😀😄

My family took their dogs, it was very clean. Big enough for them to run around, a small pool and water to refill it. if I had a dog that would be my place to take them. Loved it ❤️

Very nice place! The turf is very well keep and the doggy pool looks very clean. So many dogs and not a bad experience with any of them. It was a friendly place.

We travel 45 mins just to come to this specific dog park. It has turf flooring, therefore zero mess. In the summer they have a little plastic pool for the dogs with running water. Owners are very responsible and always watching their own dogs to avoid any issue. Highly recommend this park!

The park was very clean and I LOVED the turf. They did have a doggie bag dispenser and a mini pool for dogs to dip their paws in.. or their entire bodies like my fur child did!!

Nice Park to take the Dogs!Synthetic Grass, means no mud!

Compared to the Massapequa dog run, this one is 10x better. However not as big.A lot of the regulars are friendly and there is plenty of parking.

Great park to bring your dog. the owners are very friendly.. the owners are also very attentive to their own dogs and the others. i have been visiting this park for over a year and i have had a great experience there with my dog “Lucy “. i would recommend the park to all dog owners as there are two different areas for the dogs to play. thumbs up for wantagh dog park. 👍

Dog run is walking distance from my house so very convenient. The Early afternoon crowd is very good. My 6 month old labra-shepherd Willow always enjoys playing with other puppies.

Great park with turf to keep the dogs clean. Be careful as there are always owners not paying attention and not cleaning up after their pet.

Located at the marina. They keep the parks clean. Large and small run. Friendly people and dogs. Chairs and benches with an over hang for those hot days. Water hose available and poop bags. Fake grass which keeps it from getting muddy. Playground, ballpark, pool, mini golf located here as well.

It is a very nice dog park. When we go early in the morning the people there are very nice and respectful with their dogs. When we have gone in the middle of a weekend. Some people are rude and shouldnt be going here. I have seen people drop their dog off in the park and walk away, I have seen people leave their garbage out for dogs to get into, and I have seen people let their dogs do their business and no one picks it up. If your dog is not friendly with other dogs, maybe you shouldnt bring them to a dog park.I would love to come here more often but I would like to see more from the humans that are in the park, the dogs I can handle.

Really great dog park. Super clean which is important because my puppy likes to eat dog poop 🙄 The other owners are really nice to sit and talk to and get advice. I love how clean it is i can’t even begin to say how dirty some other parks are due to inattentive owners. I love the water fountains for the dogs and there’s plenty of bowls and toys there for the pups to play with

Its a bit smaller than it was years ago, and no longer has any shade trees.... But otherwise, its a lovely 🐕 park. And the addition of the AstroTurf is wonderful! Met some charming people there, and the pups seemed well behaved. Great place to take your pup. But you may need a Park pass for entry. Since I have a senior pass, there were no problems.

Large, clean park with turf. Has separate areas for large and small dogs. Has benches and chairs for seating.

What a great place to run your dog. Clean, full of friendly people. Will be a repeat offender.

Best dog park on long island. Great turf. Excellent accountable owners. Great dogs. Only thing i would say is beware of novice owners who frequent this park on sat/sun afternoons on nice days. Otherwise truly Great experiences. They also have pools & hose to spray poop down. Poop bags are supplied. Small & large dog areas & its down by water so cooler temps. You must have town of Hempstead driver license or pay $10 on weekend.

Both large and small dog runs are super clean. People do a great job in watching out for everyones dogs. Double gates work great. Close one before you open the other. Keeps dogs safe and cant run away

Astro turf was key on the rainy day I visited. There were some large dogs on the small dog side that my little puppy wasnt too thrilled about however those dogs were super friendly and very gentle with her. Great place to bring your dog for some activity

Met a lot of friends here. Took my dog here for over a year. Park has a couple benches and tables. I would never sit in them cause dogs pee all over them 😂😂 Astroturf ground is the best!!! No mud!!! Large dog and small dog run. That being said, a dog park is a dog park. You will have irresponsible dog owners come in and you will have misbehaved dogs. The regulars are usually good but the weekend warriors are tough to deal with.

Good dog park, considerate owners for the most part. Only issue, more than a few dog owners dont clean up after their dogs, and the park is artificial turf which isnt often cleaned, so you have to watch where you walk.

Love doing an evening walk by the water,watch sunset and feed ducks

There’s a side for smaller dogs and a side for larger dogs. A very friendly place to bring your dog. The turf is maintained well. Love that there are doggie pools for them to cool off in.

My dog Comet loved playing with the other dogs here.

Great place for dog lovers. Two areas, enclosed, one for big dogs and the other for small. Astroturf instead of dirt keeps the area cleaner.Be aware that its near the water, so temperature tends to be cooler. Also, during summer months you have to show a town of Hempstead drivers license on weekends or pay $10 to park. Free other times.

Very nice and clean. Fake grass and a small tub for dogs to cool off. The area is not that big but is enough for dogs to run around.

This place is clean. Has picnic tables & chairs to sit. Open area for the dogs to interact. 2 sides: larger dogs/smaller dogs. Double gated for dog safety upon entering/exiting.

Clean (turf), friendly dogs and owners (mostly), just a bit on the small side. Usually a kiddie pool there so good option on hot days if your dog is a water dog like mine!

Pup really enjoys here. Big space for the dogs to enjoy. Hose for water, just a little dirty. Overall I enjoy coming here and the pup does too.

Nice turfed dog park with kiddie pools for the dogs. Its a bit on the smaller side compared to others in the area. Also a lot of owners dont clean up after their dogs. We visit weekly.

Great open space that has turf which is awesome during wet and/or rainy days due to other parks getting muddy. It also sees a large amount other large dogs to play with. Did not see any little dogs.

All the dog parks I been to this is the best 1. Fun environment people and dogs are great! Waterhose and bowls for dogs to drink from! Very clean!

Awesome!!! Was told by a friend. Clean, friendly people and wonderful large grass turf area where dogs can run. My Beagle needs much stimulation.

A nice place to go if you are in Wantaugh with a dog.To be honest, the entire park, not only the dog run is amazing.

2 pools ,great turf. All the dogs love it. Large area to run around. A bit more shade and it would be perfect.

Simply the best. Super clean with Astroturf surface. Has a shade structure, benches, chairs and water. Nice people with nice dogs.

Nice Park, but you cant go anywhere outside the dog park if you have your dog with you. Some of the staff are really obnoxious if your do is outside the dog Park area.

Nice dog run, all turf no muddy parts like other dog runs, water provided via faucet, during summertime, bring a bowl

Very active dog park. Most people and pets are very nice with the exception of a few owners who are not attentive to their pets.

Real nice to see they have the artificial grass instead of dirt and plenty of water for the dogs

Its a nice park but people dont pick up there dog poop from who knows how long its there and its not safe for dogs who have a problem eating it will not be coming back to this park for my dog

Dog park is great. Sadly, some people with large, over 30 lb, dogs go in small dog park....

Good place to tire out the dog. like every dog park you have the obsessed rule followers, owners who dont watch there dogs and others who i think come without dogs just to play with them.

This was first time at dog park it was very pleasant time, turf area for big dogs was clean and plenty of room for dogs to run and play

The dog run is large with turf dogs can really build up speed as they run. Our dog Caesar love this park. Caesar loves running and playing with the other dogs. He also loves the other dog owners as well

They fixed this up very nicely! An actual pleasure to go to now!

Not that big but a great place to bring your dog. Theres astroturf in the dog run areas, a hose for water, and separate big and small dog sections. Usually some poop bags outside to pick up. Some benches for humans to sit on too.

I really like taking my little girl to this park because it is clean and safe for the dogs.

I had never visited it before and I loved it, you can do many activities in this place, but the best thing is to relax watching the landscape at the waters edge.

A beautiful place to share with family and relax and not only that but it is a place where you can exercise and can enjoy its excellent swimming pools.
