Bronx River Park Dog Run

This is our neighborhood dog run, and there is a lovely community of dog parents and dogs that visit most days.We have a small alliance group that does regular clean-ups and special events (safely, of course) for this park, including providing poop bags for the dogs.

Wide double spaces! Lots of sand for digging and running. Plenty of space for rambunctious or playful pups! There isn’t immediate parking in the area. I usually pay the meter at the shopping center and walk back to the park.

I think this is a great dog park, I especially like the divided gate between the smaller dogs and the larger dogs. Also very clean and maintained.

Ive been going to the dog park for a while. The regulars are great and everyone has been super inviting. Its been pretty clean when Ive gone and I havent had any problems so far. There is a water fountain nearby with a dog bowl included which I enjoy.

Nice little park. I dont like that its so close to the street and with all the squirrels running around that fence is no match for my jumper.

Nice space , no water for the dogs to drink. No obstacle courses for exercise not enough shade. Dogs are like children they like to do things. They love to play in water and its really hot. None of the dogs parks in Bronx have obstacle courses and activities its just sand and rocks. No grass areas no shade.

Took my pit for the first time, 1st off...no plumbing for the promised watering hole. Gravel that stains black clothing, they could have used sand.Despite the fact that they took over a year to complete, we are all very happy to have our own dog run. Beats going to Oval park, Van Cortland or Pelham bay park.Bring your own water because apparently it is difficult to have water set up for our dogs.

Large fun dog park with friendly people and dogs. There’s a smaller section for smaller dogs and a larger section for larger dogs. The ground is dense sand, and there are benches and big flat rocks for the dogs to play around. There’s no nearby parking lot and no water fountain.

Loved it. Wish there was more seating areas outside of tge dog park for training purposes but overall had a great time.

Will give it 5 stars once they install a water fountain and some more shading. Overall is kept clean. Trash cans and bags are available around the area giving no excuses to those lazy owners. Decent size and seating areas.

BE HAPPY THERES A PARK , complained about not having no park , you got a park . Stop complaining , water is free , bring your own , plus its not sanitary using another dogs bowl, and its not good to have your dog running on a lot of water in their systems. Bloat can happen so bring your own water just to let your dog lap a few. and btw VANCORTLANDT has a agility course for dogs . The park is great , stop complaing at the little things and be happy the bronx has something more added it especially for furry companions

Very convenient to finally have a dog park in our neighborhood. Its kept clean but bring your own water for your dogs since theres no fountain.

Wish this park had a water fountain and some shade for our pups.Make sure to bring a water bottle

As a small dog owner, I go to the small dog area of this dog run but was recently told that the space is to separate dogs who can’t be with other dogs instead.

Nice area but owners don’t watch their dogs very often. Too many annoying barking Yorkies, Chihuahuas, Maltese. Owners don’t understand the large/small dog barrier.

This park is okay. It is small and folks bring pets who are NOT fixed. Rating it one star for dog owners who shouldnt be at dog parks.

Its a nice place to take your dog but some people bring they dog in a fenced in with your dog some dont even ask is it ok to bring my dog in off the lease ask questions foes your dog bite is your dog friendly etc.

Seems like people do not clean up after themselves or after their dogs. Very busy intersection traffic from too many directions and drivers do not care if you are in the crosswalk be careful crossing. 1st and last time.

Me and my dog love this park.hes so happy whenever he goes..I appreciate the separate sections for the big dogs and the little dogs...this was a great addition to the neighborhood.

I am so happy with the walk dog grand opening! So looking forward to taking my fur babies to enjoy. They are both my pride & Joy!

Agreed on the lack of water source. Friends of Pelham Parkway asked Bronx community Board 11 TWICE and they voted NO twice on the request for additional funding (80K) for the water source. Now this year we asked the CM Gjonaj to fund it and at first he stated yes. However nothing yet has been allocated. His office stated that he will fund it in August. So still waiting if it is true. Follow us on Friends of Pelham Parkway. We gave out the water bowls and poop bags on opening day and hope to do more for our 4 legged residents.

Walked this dog [im a dog Walker] she had so much fun clean play dog area. They provide bags and water bowl.

Ample space and clean. A big pen and a small one available with separate gates. Sand and gravel ground with boulders to jump on.

Love taking my dog here! She is not so friendly with other dogs so I’m glad there is a separate part for large dogs or for dogs to play alone!

They need to install a water fountain for these thirsty dogs. This is the only dog park Ive been to without water supply.

The park is clean but bring your own water bottle because there is no water fountain or hose.

Even though my baby is shy, after an 1 1/2 she made friends and ran around with her new friends. So did I.Poor baby was so tired.

Best Dog Park. They have balls for the big dogs and little dogs amazing people and experience.

Its a dog run. Some unwanted dogs sometimes. No lights at night. New water fountain for dogs and people.

It was our first time taking the dogs. The people at the park were friendly. The dogs at the park were well behaved. Definitely will visit again soon...

There needs to be variety of dog parks for these areas with so more many pet owners. The set up is harmful to our dogs. My little boy has caught conjunctivitis in his eye and a cut under his eye due to the nasty ground of unclean sand and real rocks with sharp edges. There should be grass and sand maybe with playground fake rocks. Plus, hardly no one cleans up after there dogs. We are searching on how we can get community involved for several local dog parks. Its near a zoo, why not more??

Great place to bring your dogs pet friendly

This park opened up in the area maybe a little over a year and it’s a great addition to the community. For those with doggies, this park has a small area and a big area. Most doggies hang out in the big area. The ground is like a mix of dirt and a bit of gravel and has big rocks for doggies to get on or for humans to sit on.

Had a real fun time here and met some interesting people!

This is a great addition to the neighborhood. There are two separate parks within this park, one for large dogs and one for small dogs. Everyone here is nice and friendly and so are the dogs.

Big open space for both small and larger dogs. Very clean. Only downside is you have to bring your own water and bowl.

So excited to take our dog here. It’s a great addition to our flourishing Bronx!!!!!
