If you thought Central Park was big, you need to come to this park immediately. With a large track and field area that puts Soundview Parks to shame, easy accessibility from the 6 train, free parking, a bunch of pathways to walk along and enjoy the sights (especially now that its Autumn), a few nice statues to look at, a big playground, a number of different sports courts, and a bunch of areas to sit down and have a barbecue with your family and friends. Great views of the water and city skyline as well, especially a bit closer to nighttime. You cant even see all of the park in one day unless you wanna challenge yourself. Not only that, I felt very safe during my walk through the park, and others that Ive encountered have been quite friendly. 10/10 park and highly recommend it.

I love this park. I have one closer to me but it’s so congested with the influx of illegal immigrants in the area I can’t enjoy it anymore. But coming to this park is refreshing to walk around without crowds of people and volleyball nets everywhere. There are baseball fields, playgrounds, a newly renovated track and field with a outdoor workout area and plenty of walking paths. There is a good-sized parking lot at the rear of the park and it even has an ev charging area for electric or hybrid cars. My dogs love the openness of being able to freely walk, run and play and I genuinely enjoy coming here and walking along seeing other families enjoying the space too.

The park has a playground with the biggest jungle gym/playset I have ever seen. Lots of places to stay in the shade, clean grounds, and a great place to spend the day. Two things that should be updated...1. the bathrooms. Right now the door is open and theres a stall right there almost at the door, 2. there are zero food vendors. The only thing there is an ice cream truck who charges $12 for a milk shake. Bring your own lunch.

Took my daughter to horseback riding. She’s five. The entire experience from beginning to end was the best. I am a single mother on a budget. Trying to find something I only can do with my daughter as she gets bigger. I would recommend this for anyone but especially for people in my unique position. My daughter’s father’s family is in her life a lot. The petty battles I go through with them because they have to do better than me alone is insane and just so sad. But nothing can be perfect. I have it a lot better than most in that regard. My credit will suffer that’s all…

This is the largest park in NYC and one of the most beautiful and relaxing parks. There is a track, tennis and basketball courts and a baseball field. There is also a nice walking trail and a quiet hidden scenic view of the water. It is not a tourist spot, which makes it a nice family park and my favorite place to think, walk, and relax. Very nice, low key park. The main problem with this park is there is a NYPD shooting range across the bay. This means it is never peaceful. As you try for a nice peaceful walk, it will be inundated with sounds of automatic weapons and gunfire as if you are running through a battle zone. It can be very disturbing. You can have barbecues in the picnic area. There are tennis courts, a dog park, a very nice park for all age children with an attached basketball court and bathrooms. It is kept clean and attended by the nyc parks department. There are softball/baseball areas and very close to city island.

Great park to go for a nature walk, it has so much to offer for everyone. They have two playgrounds, one for smaller kids and another for ages 4 and up. Lots of picnic and bbq areas. There is also a small water area past the dog park in the back which is pretty easy to miss if you’re not familiar with the park. I must say that they need to at least update the playground equipment. Pelham Bay Park has so much potential to be amazing but I don’t understand why the people in charge don’t put much into it.

Pelham Bay Park is like New York City’s hidden treasure chest—expansive, diverse, and brimming with natural beauty. 🌳**Design**: This is NYC’s largest park, even bigger than Central Park! It boasts everything from salt marshes and forests to playgrounds and trails. Orchard Beach, sometimes called the Bronx Riviera, offers a sandy escape within the city.**History**: The park has a rich history, having been the site of skirmishes during the American Revolution. The Bartow-Pell Mansion, nestled within the park, provides a glimpse into the life of 19th-century New Yorkers.**Amenities**: With over 2,700 acres, theres no shortage of activities. The park features numerous sports fields, picnic areas, hiking trails, and even a golf course. The Nature Center is a great spot for educational programs and wildlife spotting.**Experience**: A visit here feels like a mini-vacation. Whether you’re hiking the trails, exploring the historic sites, or simply lounging on the beach, it’s a serene retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life.**Overall**: Pelham Bay Park is a gem for nature lovers and history buffs alike. Pelham Bay Park is a beautiful park. The baseball/softball fields need to be cured. I say cured because I can see all these kids trying to hold practice and play ball but are limited to getting a successful training session because of all the holes and puddles it has. Really good place considering its in the Bronx, no shade, I live in the Bronx too, however due to poor funding and such a lot of the public attractions are in poor condition, and need a lot of maintenance. As seen in the picture, theres tons of litter, and graffiti all around the riverside. But besides that, the actual park is spacious and has a nice tennis court next to the country club. In fact, Id say that the side closest to the country club is by far the best kept, with lots of neat amenities such as a mini calisthenic gym rig, a decent sized football field, and tons of open grassy areas. The location gets a good amount of wind from the river, and the shade from trees will keep you cool. Also, something I personally found appealing was that there are parts of the forest that are open to the public, and you can hike and walk through these areas, and it will make you feel like you are truly in an isolated forest with limited human interaction, which is quite calming.

A fun walk around the place! Towards the back a little lake action. Plenty of skipping stones and ventures awaiting for more than a month time. Different locales such as parks b b q/picnic table set ups, running track, excersize gym...a soccer field? Tennis court...dog park...hey man this is all mental memory haha! I might be off but! This park is a great escape from the big city. Its quite and feels secluded. Very spacious for private picnics. The greens areas are clean but the seating areas could use some TLC... not too bad though. Theres a big outdoor gym, a dog park, playing fields, a small forest all around and past that is the water. I believe is the only beach in the Bronx. All in all I recommend it and I will be going back.

This is an amazing park. It is a great place to ride your bicycles and to explore. There are many paths to ride and it also have play areas for kids near the beach. It also has a outdoor basketball court and they do games there also. The beach is free to go to and it is very big and is safe for kids because the water is sometimes very shallow but if you want to get to deeper water you have to go out further. In the water you can find many creatures hermit crabs witch are harmless. The beach is also a nice spot to lay down and enjoy the sun and is a great place to build sand castles. If you go further down to the west side of the beach were the rocky area is it is a very great spot for a view of the ocean and it is a great spot to find little snails and clams and mussels. And dont worry they have good parking, a bus stop and a place to buy food at the beach.

I gave this place 3 stars because this place gets quickly over crowded even with the current social distancing norm.... For me mondays are pleasant especially if you have kids. Weekends this place gets crowded and loud. I prefer morning to early afternoon. And there is a reasonable fee for parking for those who want to be closer to Orchard Beach. There is so much to do in this park. Theres even horseback riding, call for reservations. All in all not too bad. Love the family friendly vibe. It is what it is-> dont lose yourself trying to make sense of the facilities just bring your own arsenal of sanitizing products for that trip to the facilities. Once you decide, left or right, there are more than enough points of Exits/Entrances to the beach. This park has so much to offer and there is so much to explore. Public transportation accessible. Have fun and be safe. Enjoy.

Only go for the dog run these days. The park can get way overcrowded and the rowdy elements here are NOT family friendly. The bathroom wait in the summer especially weekends is outrageous. Most men will use the surrounding foliage to relieve themselves causing the area to smell. People have forgotten how to act in public. Police use to patrol more and need to enforce the laws again.

Really quiet and big. It’s 3x the size of Central Park and although it’s a bit uptown—- it’s right next to the last stop on the 6 train. Nearby are many different places to eat and so you could have a nice picnic if you wanted to. There’s a tennis court, basketball court, track field with sand, two separate playgrounds, and lots of space! There’s also bleachers near the track field along with a baseball field too!

This park offers many things to do. Ample fields, kids playground, track field, barbecue picnic area. Easily accessible via car right off I95, by train last stop #6 uptown, etc.Park is clean, and relatively well maintained. I prefer to go during weekdays rather than weekends. Weekends tend to be crowded. Its a park so no surprise there. Only drawback is that many of the people that frequent on the weekends tend to be loud, rowdy, project people. I said it and it is reality. You know the type. Hence me preferring to go weekdays

What a waste of money

Needs alot of upgrading, and upkeep. Some picnic tables were flooded under large bodies of water, caused by rain the day before. Its a great recreational outdoor park, but there isnt a valid playground for children younger than 5. This park might be the biggest in nyc, going all the way to orchard Beach, but orchard isnt readily accessible, especially not by foot, vehicle or public transportation is the safest way to arrive at the beach. There is a small hiking trail, and access to fishing. There are basketball courts, tennis, baseball, football, soccer and track (most crowded part of the park). This park definitely needs parking, though there is plenty near the beach. The park is easily accessible by public transport. This park needs the same amount of love central park is shown, especially as the biggest park of new york city, its a lost opportunity. If hiking, biking, fishing and outdoor sports in an extremely quiet and mostly empty park is what youre looking for this is a perfect park to visit.
