St. James Park

Actually a pretty and decently sized park. Theyve added a dog run in the last year which is dope, and its a great place to sun bathe & get some nature grounding in. There are a couple crackheads sometimes, but they dont bother anyone and stay to themselves away from pple which is appreciated. Its big enough to enjoy elbow room especially before late afternoon. In the summer time its full of families ♡

Cool park to chill on a nice day. Plenty of room for families to picnic. Playground and Basketball courts available. Benches are also aplenty. Near shopping and transportation if needed. Great place to hear the true sounds of the Bronx. Well lit in the evening hours too

I like this park, but I would like them to put more control so that the park rules are followed, there are many who smoke marijuana, tobacco, etc. and unfortunately the children smell. 😟I hope there is someone with a good heart who is in charge of the park and can think about the well-being and health of the children and all the families who go to the park.🙏

Good park for kids to play and to sit and relax. Other playground activities include a basketball court and baseball field. Very big park. No change.

Community Space is hard to find! NYC parks are the last oasis. This park welcomes all and it feels like neighborhood positive space.

The park itself is big but the playground is small. I love how the trees surround the park and hide the train station thats outside the park.

Recently renovated St. James Park. Extremely close to Fordham Avenue. It runs across Jerome Avenue. This park offers different types of classes daily. Check out the schedule.

There is a dead tree hanging over the basketball court. Ive made official complaints to 311, ni response. The park is never swept; and players are constantly slipping.

This park used to be nice, the area has changed drastically, lot of drug sales in the park, People also let there pets loose without picking up the DOGs POOP. A stronger police presence would help,backed by FINES or Imprisonment ,and posting of HEALTH CODE VIOLATIONs in various Cultural languages.,Is a good start. I assume this will only happen when we are close to neighborhood elections.

Right off the Grand Concourse between Fordham and Kingsbridge St James Park offers a wide range of activities in a beautiful setting for a very fortunate community of families all located circling the Park itself . A classic environment of old Grand New York .Spanish cuisine aplenty and shopping on Fordham and Kingsbridge . Dont miss the Armory on Jerome and Kingsbridge , a restoration in the works should be spectacular .

There be too many drug addicts at this park. There be people in restrooms smoking and restrooms dont be clean. Restrooms dont be having toilet paper and soap plus napkins to dry hands. They should have a bathroom attendant

A nice urban park. Its adjacent to the four line, and a city college. The park can be crowded at times in the summer but there are bathrooms!

When we first moved to the area three years ago I felt this park was great! During the day it still is for the most part. My biggest complaint is that the adults dont leave room for the kids in the bball courts. However, now you walk through that park starting in the early afternoon and you see drunks passed out, junkies getting high. I love this park, my kids love the park. But they REALLY need to clean it up.

Big park, decent for community events. Only downside public bathroom out of order since the weather and sad its still not fixed even in the summer. Hence mothers have no option than to let children pee in the park. While adults hide around trees n public bathroom to ease themselves. Really disappointed

Dangerous park, cool people but very dangerous

The park is really nice a has something for all ages only problem is over the weekends the park is packed with people bbq and eating food from the food vendors leaving an enormous amount of food left all over. They leave grills chained ropes hanging from trees and decorations stuck on the park fence. Other that that the park is nice and safe at all times of the day people usually start jogging before 7 am.

They need to clean this place up. And reopen the community center. My daughters used to have Girl Scouts in here. Too many addicts blocking the stairs. Feels unsafe.

Its a really beautiful place, clean and well taken care of. Theres a basketball court, tennis court, soccer field and alot of space for everything else. I like going to this park on week days cos its usually crowded on weekends but you still have enough space to spectate or join the fun.

The park is really big and you can even grill there which was shocking cause other parks dont do that.You can have parties there or just play on the playgrounds.

Since moving very close to the park myself and kids love going and since the weather is getting warmer we will be in there ALL summer!💯💯💯 Its spacious you can have a cookout, birthdays, just relax with food and happy people just pure fun❤❤

If it werent for the laziness of people who frequent it, the place would get five stars from me. However, watching people discard trash on the ground when a garbage can is within twenty feet of them (and little eyes watching and learning that behavior) puts my rating at 4/5. The park needs to either have someone to frequently clean throughout the day or have a patrol of some sort around to dispense littering violations to individuals who werent taught about cleanliness and responsibility.

I attended an event so... I didnt get to take a real tour of the park but from what I could see It was nice enough. The event that I attended was the Kingsbridge day ( which is an annual event ) and it was AMAZING!!! Great music ( provided by various DJs including Dj. Kid Capri!!), Really delicious food ( I mean everything , and there was a large selection), great crowd participation,, friendly people, and activities ! It was a wonderful day,, event, and location! I will give another review upon my next visit.

The park has a lot of trees and rodes for walk, bike rides and scooters for kids and adults. The playground for kids is adequate for kids all ages. Unfortunately, it is dirty. Trash everywhere inside the playground

Since the early 80s, this park has constantly evolved. Parks werent very safe when I was a kid. St. James has been a part of my entire life.

It needs a dog park it has enough space also need more trees but the park its ok not too bad you can survive but alert it has stories of shootings inside this park unfortunately. We need more police man in this area for the summer. Thanks for asking

Not a very safe place to be with your children. Unless you go on a calm quite weekday. Its a beautiful park but in a crime Infested area. I was born and raised right across the street. Always saw drug and gang activity and alot of fights. At times shootings. The police have been working on cleaning up the park for a couple years now. Still a working progress.

Not clean, very dark because of the high trees. Random people without kids just sit in the benches and people watch. A bit creepy since I go with my kids. Went once and wont go back. Some even look high or drunk.

Its nice and quiet in the morning. Little bit of serenity and peace in this neighborhood. Something we can always have more of.

If you register your child for summer camp here and after you paid your money with no problem, the moment you request a refund with all the documents that shows your child his attending summer school they’ll not give you your money back they’ll give you the run around, act like they working on, but is all a lie. After two months I’m still waiting for my money to be refunded back to me and nothing yet not even I phone call on the status, or anything.

The park is pretty big and there are always dogs for my dog to get along with which I love, but the park is always dirty. I havent constantly watch my pup to make sure he doesnt pick up any trash (he was close to picking up toilet paper one time which is disgusting). I think the workers try hard to try to keep it clean but a little more effort could be afforded and there should be consequences for people that dont pick up after themselves. This is a public space that we all share and want to be a part of so we should all be held accountable for our garbage. It shouldnt even have to be said, but sadly is.

St James Park is a very good family exciting park there is basketball volleyball handball sometimes they roller skate ride bikes there are a lot of fun family activities to do and even without families just by yourself relaxing the park is where you can lay out your blanket and just lay down on the grass and relax and listen to some music while you enjoy the beautiful weather

Very noisy park! I cant believe it. Nobody cant rest or work from home, all around this park. Few selfish and retarded individuals are ruining life for everyone else around. They could just by headphones; they are so cheap these days. How can we get out of poverty if we cant rest or work - Yes, let maintain the cycle of poverty. And the municipality is complicit by allowing this!

I wish they didnt cut down so many trees for the new statue and other addition over in the northeast section of the park. We should start planting more trees and offering up opportunities to clean up the local parks.

Just have to be careful on the backside of the park on the Creston Avenue side. Weve found used exposed needles in the dirt.

This park always need TLC, it can be very filthy , full of litter everday. The city and the park employees dont seems to care much as is mostly minorities that frequent the park. It is nicer when is cold outside and very early in the morning.

I’m fed up with the Maintence of this park i have asked Maintenance dept to clean the Morris ave entrance right behind the Rec center behind the wheel chair ramp the grass is sky high the garbage is sky-high my apartment is adjacent to the park i have toddlers and since park doesn’t clean that area Rats are running into the apartment parks department must want a lawsuit

A lot of things going on at this park you have basketball courts you have tents quartz you have lots of fields where you can laid back and you have a playground with swings and seesaws and obstacle course that day I was at the par because it was a big turkey giveaway every year and I was on that line I wanted to get a turkey so I got it and it was nice middle lot of people and it was beautiful it was given by two Gardner Foundation they have it every year it was beautiful even though you have to wait but you get to meet a lot of people beautiful Park love it you love it too thats it

40 yrs going to my back yard, and can see the changes, if you walk your dog you must be alert, because of the chicken bones, not allowed to BBQ, but people come and do what they want and leave. SHAME ST JAMES PARK

It was a Sunday and there was very loud Christian Music (mind you I am not against it but not everyone wants to listen to it) I couldnt hear myself speak of how loud it was. My daughter had soccer practice and she couldnt even hear her coach.Also young kids in the bathroom with a hookah! Very disappointed, I spend my childhood in this park and it surprises me how it has changed.

I use to play in this park many yrs ago there was a black out and I was in there with my best friend Norma bourdon the night of the black a day I will never forget Norman mother was looking for us in her night dress and a big knife lol I use to see addicts hanging out they were nice well at the time I didnt know they were on drugs I just thought they were tired or something they always used to fall asleep every time I drive by there now I see it fill with people especially in the summer lots of birthday parties I see everyone having fun up in there I had a lot of fun at St James I drove by and they were having a basketball tournament last year I saw some people playing soccer cooking bring back memories

I enjoyed myself here tonight. Thanks to my cousin suggestion we stop here. Nice park. Many people were out tonight. There was a birthday party out there. People just enjoying themselves.

Great place to run, they have water fountains and a place to fill your water bottles with tap water. Tennis courts, soccer field and basketball courts. Downfall, no one cleans up after their dog so you have to watch where you walk or run

Quiet and well-lit at night. “Eclectic” demographic during the day.

Been part of Saint James Park all my life. Its a beautiful place, although I remember having to have a membership to use the tennis courts way back in the day, now they are not maintained and people use the space for soccer. I would love to play some tennis!

Lovely park. Seems like there are not many nice parks in the Bronx (feels like it not sure if thats true). There is a playground and has bathrooms.

Played handball there for years. Its a little oasis for weary travelers. This small acreage park is a short resting place for years now. Throughout my 40 years in that area, you can see the demographics change. Its still ok to visit.

Regular ordinary park. Good for kids, you can take a nice run/walk around in the morning. It has a playground for kids basketball courts and turf soccer field, tennis court without nets...

They cleaned this park up alot however still alot of addicts and drug dealings going on here.

I was so very embarrassed. I had a friend visiting The Bronx and I took her there to walk her dog. I have NEVER seen the park so dirty that she had to carry her dog. She asked if we didnt have a Parks Department anymore.

A huge park to roam around with your friends and family! Also it has a jungle jim for kids, a soccer field, a handball space, basketball courts, & a volleyball net. Its really a good park to spend time with your family.

Good public park, with available and designated areas for various sports activities such as basketball, soccer, tennis, running/jigging etc..., as well as just sitting and relaxing on the benches if you choose to.

I love this oark but I was very dissapointed to see that three days after a storm there was still a lot of debree around the circle road that people do exercise on mostly.For me I find it disrespectful, because shouldnt they have someone working on the park who cleans? And it had been more than four days. I feel as if they are saying we dont matter in the Bronx so they dont care. Its not right. That should have been the main area clean. But at least they had the other smooth part cleaned. But all of that should have been cleaned as well...it shouldnt take more than four days to clean.

Going into St James park for almost 40 yrs every day to walk and play with my boy Samson, the park is safe and gd for the kids, the only problems I see are those that do BBQ and leave nothing but garbage behind including the CHARCOAL instead of dumping everything inside PLASTIC BAGS and last those that dont pick after their dogs, is owed park people lets work together tkn you

It was nice. Not too crowded when it opened. It was supposed to open at 6 but it was about 15 minutes late. Lots of people with masks on who came to jog as well.

Good staff and dont rush people to live after late night even tho last time is 10p.m. and very secured by police theres always place to sit and play around

It has a tennis court, basketball courts as well as squash court and soccer field aswell as a recreation center.

Now is more safety than years ago. Wonderful place with area for children many trees for refresh in summer.My children enjoy going there.,me too

Went to St. James Park it was beautiful day to spend time with family & enjoy the day, it was good to see the family & their children having a good time, so if you have a chance go & pass by & see for yourself.

This is a good ark for you ti come with ypur famuly and have fun. There is a basketball court, a rec center ,tennis court and many different things avaliable. Also this park is big and spacious. This is a very good park and a good place to relax if you in the bronx area and looking for a place to relax and have fun.

A Couple of years ago I visited St. James Park with my kids and family and at that time it was the best Park Ive visited. I wont forget all the moments I had there, my kids love that Park its an amazing place to go with yours kids and family.

Its a very big park. Good for jogging. The womens bathroom was closed so you had to use the mens. The mens bathroom was disgusting.

No bbq allowed, bleachers have no shade and dirty area needs upgrade.

Wonderful little park gets pretty crowded but theres plenty to do like playing soccer on the new field, hand ball, basketball or just sit around people watching.

Hidden snugly in the midst of the ever-bustling E. Fordham shopping district. Not overcrowded, NICE! Parks workers present but, bathrooms closed?! WTH?!

Kids enjoyed it. They always do. It was a beautiful day so it was overly crowded.

We recently had The 10th Annual Gardiner Foundation Memorial Basketball Classics and it was awesome, my family and I had a great and wonderful time on Saturday August 15th and Sunday August 16th, I am looking forward to next year.

One of the best events Ive seen in a while!!!..shout outs to the Gardiner Foundation and all that they do for the communities and youth🙏💪😁🙏🙏

Nice park to just sit and read but I live for my days off so I can get my workout on,iam 63,so I go here to shoot 100 free throws by my self for an hour then leave or sit and do the crossword puzzle from USA Today on my fone,winter or summer nice environment.

Ive been going to this Park for over thirty years. It has everything handball, basketball, tennis, soccer, children sprinklers, swings. This is a good Park but sometimes it could be so empty.

Great park when my children were young. Different crowd now, have to be careful when walk through the park now.

Always clean and beautiful place to play . St. James Park is more fun when me and my soccer team play on Sundays , everyone is usually watching us play.

I grew up playing in this park, it is a family friendly park with areas for basketball, tennis, soccer, handball and a really cool childrens park. There has been various renovation over the years.

My kids were enrolled in a soccer program at this park. The field was dirty more often then not but it was safe and they had a great experience.

Clean little park for a picnic or to play with your little one. Its has a baby swing obstacle and slide and a bigger kid section too. It also has a basket ball court.

It was nice I enjoy it there are some people there sell over price stuff to kids which is not nice.

The park is nice and all but would love if there was chairs that have tables so you could eat there.

NYC Parks dept has a recreation center that normally has classes and a gym for a very low membership fee. During covid, they have morning spin and HIIT classes during the week. There is a playground, tennis courts, basketball courts, and soccer fields (I think).

Had a great time with my boys. Lots to do n you can grill there also.

This place is located on Creston Ave and E 191 St in the Fordham section of the Bronx. One block east is the Grand Concourse and a few blocks west is Jerome Ave. Three blocks south is E Fordham Rd. There are 🚌 that run on Jerome Ave, Grand Concourse, and E Fordham Rd. There are trains that run on Jerome Ave and the Grand Concourse.

A place to hang out with the family and kids. Not enough benches and crowded. Very crowded on weekends. So you have to come early to find a place to sit.

I love coming here on the weekends with my family. Also love their playground along with the amount of great contribution to the community.

Its okay. Lots of kids. If u have smaller children you should watch them because of the bigger kids running around. Other than that we go there every other day.

It use to be good park for basketball with older player. Now its got to much younger kids playing on all courts.

One word: Dirty! So many people crowd this park in the summer that it is impossible to keep it clean without residents help. Too many BBQs, not enough garbage bags. Lots of dog owners (including myself) use the park so expect to see dogs off the leash from time to time. (Watch out for leftover food in the grass!) Unfortunely, what ever tennis program they were planning never came into fruition. The newly paved tennis courts are littered with trash. It now doubles as a dog run as it is the only fenced in area to safely unleash and train your dogs wIthout interruption. To its credit, the sprinklers in the kids playground area are a great way to cool off and let your children run around safely as it is fenced off from the rest of the park. (No dogs allowed.) The kids playground is well shaded and the mist from the sprinklers is a plus for adults wanting to stay cool while keeping their young ones insight. Not a place to be after dark...rats.

Been there, done that! There are so many people doing their barbecue, birthday parties, weddings, festivals, even theres tournaments for basketball, soccer and the rest.

Clean, easy to get, plenty room at kids play area, great place for picnics.
