Marias Pet Shop & Grooming

We finally found a groomers whom we trust and love the finishing product! Maria and her team are an absolute gem. They are very knowledgeable and keeps it real with you. She will let you know what your dog needs and I feel like I can trust her blindly because of her many years of experience. My doggo is very scared of groomers but whenever we walk into the shop he’s so happy to see Maria and her team. We are so happy we found someone we can finally trust and keep my dog on good grooming routine!

This is my second time taking my poodle, Teddy, to Maria. She does a great job with him. She is very Attentive and details In her work. She noticed an abscessed in his paw and notified me and recommended to a trusted and reliable vet. I was impressed, not even my vet noticed it and I had taken him for a visit a few days before. She definitely does go above and beyond. Not only is she professional, but very knowledgeable. She cares about the clients she serves and it shows. The staff is polite and will take the time to answer your concerns.

Oh my goodness. I cant say enough about Marias. My spouse and I popped our heads in because every Saturday we see a line down the sidewalk for the vet that comes. Thought wed ask about grooming our big boy (Cane Corso) My spouse thought for sure it would be a No simply because of his size and sometimes people are intimidated by that alone and his breed. Even though Cane Corsos have a massive bite force, theyre not prone to aggression. Anyhow, they were so welcoming. Very informative, More so than the vet here visits. I will definitely be bringing him back for at least his nails. One of the ladies gave us tips on treats and how to serve them (frozen). Also on how to be sure to dry him thoroughly. Ntsika, our pup his prone to allergies of many.

Maria’s is a staple in New York for all your pets care needs. Not only does Maria provide excellent dog grooming, she also provides personalized boarding options for your pets. She gave my wife and I a piece of mind being on our honeymoon for 2 weeks. She sent pictures regularly giving us the opportunity to really enjoy our vacation.

I love this place. I take my tea cup yorkie King here all of the time. Finding this place was a blessing. Maria knows her pets and loves your dog as her own. Shes very consistent with his look. She even detected that he may have an ear infection. I took him to the vet and thats exactly what he had. She maintains accurate records on your pet and will remind you of required yearly vaccines for each pet. More importantly, I do not feel rushed to come and pick up my baby after she is finished. She will allow you to run your errands and pick them up later in the day. Shes in high demand so try to keep your appointment time.Update 9/18/24. My review is still the same and shes now known to us as titi Maria. Love her. Shes a part of our family.

Princess was in very bad shape and Maria and her team helped and brought life back to princess she was handle with care and love. she came back home smelling and looking good. Cant wait until her next appointment. Trust you wont be disappointed 😁

I have never seen my husky, Max as white as when I picked him up from here! Very happy with how he looks and smells. I was in the market for another groomer after his last groomer took 8 hours with him. He was so anxious he bit through his collar and salivated all over the crate. I handed Max to Maria’s and in 2 hours he was out and beautiful. Costumer service was also super patient. 10/10 recommend and will come again.

I have been going to Maria for years. My doggie Beckham only lets her trim his nails. He is aggressive, so its really hard to get a groomer he allows to touch him. So Maria is very patient and sweet!

I did not like the services of this hairdresser, the cut I asked for has no similarity to the one they made to my puppy, she is a girl and the cut makes her look like a boy. Another thing I noticed is that my dogs eyes are very red and they tear a lot, I feel that the expectations I had with this hairdresser were very high, but after her service I would not take her back to that place.

Great customer service! Maria was very helpful and able to accommodate us today as a walk-in. Everyone at the shop was very nice and friendly. Today was my first time going there however it definitely won’t be my last time, Maria put us on her schedule we will be back in 10 weeks. I’m looking forward to our next appointment. Not worth making appt. For grooming. I made appt. For 11 , but seems like everyone was scheduled for 11. Got there at 1030 , they didnt open till 1115. Checked my dog in and he was Pretty much last one to leave.Just felt it was very disorganized.

Went for the mobile vaccines and stayed for maria and staff. Really nice people

First time attending took my 7 month yr old yorkie for a first time puppy cut.... The grooming results was excellent however having my dog there all day had me with anxiety. Dropped off at 10:30AM & picked up at 6. I was happy when I seen my pup. I just wish service was a bit faster. I Understand that Maria is a high demand groomer & this may take longer then expected but her work does show that she knows exactly what she is doing. I will take Milo again because Im in love with his look & my pup showed normal happy behavior when he arrived home. I trust the groomer!

The best place to bring your dogs my Benji always goes in happy and leaves happy.Maria and her team are very attentive with the pets and people alike. she will always keep it real. if you can’t handle honesty it is not the place for you.my dog always come out happy looking fly and smelling great.

I love this place I have brought my miniature schnauzer here 3 times now and she always comes out perfect!! Maria is a true expert on the breed and Im always satisfied!

It’s a good grooming place aside from the long wait times even if you have an appointment. My dogs appt can be at 11:30 and she won’t be done till 5pm. Also, online it says it’s open at 10:15 and I’m still in line waiting for them to open and its’s 10:52

Maria Is the real deal. She loves what she does and does it well. We want the best for our fur babies and Maria IS the very Best. With a clean comfortable work space and extremely comfortable accommodations for our pets , its a relaxed atmosphere. Her staff is quite professional and you know our guys are in good hands. Her prices are competitive and very reasonable. Theres a veterinary doctor on site Saturdays first come first serve. We are so blessed to have Marias to car for all our pets grooming needs and so much more. Its a beautiful shop.

Its very hard to find people who actually love their job. Maria and her team is a prime example. No one looks dreaded or gives you that wah yuh do here face. As per the grooming. I have a cavapoo (Biscuit) that I regularly try to take him every 2-3 months . Her cuts are amazing. He comes out smelling and looking great 10/10 ! The team takes their time .She is so great at what she does , there was never a time she hasnt been booked up. So please just be patience and book appointment in advanced. I just wish they had a app to book from because its super hard to grab that appointment or even a walk in .

Weve been going to Marias for a while now. Hugs and kisses everytime, super nice. However, she is always late to open. Theres a line of people outside and you go from 10am to 11am quickly and she still hasnt started. So one day Im late and she doesnt like it and she cancels me and suddenly she is not that nice person anymore. Not very accommodating.Attitude as if its free. Im a paying customer.Her staff are also 50/50, you never know what youre gonna get.

The shop is small but a small environment makes it better to get to know your customers and how they like to have their pets groomed. The customer service is excellent the owner is definitely knowledgeable about proper dog care and the grooming as I have seen hands on is superb. You will not regret your first visit here at all. They also offer every Saturday from 11 am to 3 pm vet are on site and immunization packages with VIP petcare. You cant go wrong.

Prices are reasonable. Location is convenient. Service is good. BUT extremely unreliable service. Shop is supposed to open at 10 am. Customers show up at 10 am and often wait for 20-30-40 minutes for owner to show up. I’ve made several appointments over the last 2 years but I usually end up leaving.

I have to say my dog is a bit aggressive and Maria was able to work on her and make her look fabulous. To make Things better she put her on a schedule and Ruby is able to get groomed with no problems. she is used to the same routine and she is super happy. I am not one to go out of my way to write a review, specially not a good one, but I’m extremely disappointed with this place. My friend recommended me because he takes his dog there, same breed as mine, so i decided to give it a try since the place i usually go to is in Manhattan and because of the pandemic i hadn’t been able to take my dog (since March so for almost 4 months) so yes, my dog hair was tangled in some places so i was aware her hair would be cut somewhat, what i didn’t expect was to get a completely shaved dog back; At first my mom didn’t even recognize my dog. That’s without even talking about the whole timing issue i had, they gave me an appointment for 10:15 am, told me my dog was #2 and wasn’t done for pick up until 4:40 pm, 6 hours later. I hope nobody has to go through this same situation, yes i read the reviews before deciding to take my dog there but like i said, somebody i know recommended me and i decided to go with it. I don’t think i’ll be coming back and wouldn’t recommend the place.

My dog and I really had a GREAT experience at Marias Pet Shop. I had taken my dog to get his nail cut and filed,one groomer held him, while the other cut and shaved his nail down. He pooped while getting them cut, and they cleaned him up, before giving him to me.❤❤❤I would definitely say, you would be very happy with the service 😀

I give a 3 star only because she usually doesnt show up when shop is suppose to open and even though they say they do cats they attend more to dogs. my cats were traumatized because she had to sedate them because of all the dogs that were there...her staff were great with my cats they were bathed, groomed and nails were cut. If you have a dog this is a good place to bring them. I wouldnt bring cats here...

A friend of mine recommended me Maria’s Pet Shop because I was traveling all the way to Manhattan to cut my dog hair for years but I wanted somewhere closer to me in the Bronx and let me tell you I’m so happy I went to Maria’s Pet Shop. Maria is the best in the area! Since my family moved over here, we don’t trust our Chiquita with anyone else. Maria and her staff are very kind and they always treat our baby the best way that they can. I can’t wait to take our Chiquita to Maria’s again!

My cat hates getting her nails cut. The vet has suggested that I get her nails cut under anesthesia. I have taken her to Petco but she scratched the groomer. And then I found this place. I was a little worried that she would bite and or scratch the groomer. However the process of cutting her nails literally took less than 3 minutes. My cats stress level was minimized because it happened so fast. They have found a new loyal customer as I will definitely be returning. And side note they have great prices.

They shop did an amazing job 👏 🙌 with my Stich😁. I was very nervous about trying a new groomer, However I was never more please about how he looked. Just pack your patience take a while for perfection 🥰.

This place has a policy of You must schedule an appointment, but first come first served. Well, which is it, appointment or first come?????. Also the day before the appointment, they called me late to reschedule to/for the following day. Since this is the first time I was going to this place, why was I asked if I would recommend them to other people. Just so everyone knows, hell no, dont take your pet here. Thanks Maria for cleaning my cats paws when i was in a dire emergency. This was my first grooming session with my cat and i was very confused on what to do. She definitely cares about your pet when she handles them and it she also taught me some stuff about my cat that I should know about. Ill be coming back if I ever need anything

Maria may not open exactly at 10am and might be a bit rough in her tone; but, she loves what she does. I adopted Chanel on 2/10/2020; she was matted and was just a really shaggy dog. I look at various pet groomers and came across Maria’s Pet Shop and Grooming. I selected her shop because of a lack luster review and her response. I personally appreciated the fact that Maria was informed and was able to explain the situation with the upmost professional manner. I set an appointment for a Saturday (at the time); I was able to get Chanel up-to-date with all her shots. CHANEL LOOKED AMAZING.. Maria taught me how to manage Chanel and told me how she was with her. She warned me about possible cuts on her ears due to her matted hair. Chanel was shaken but, she was fine the next day. I was schedule to bring her back 6 to 8 weeks; however, the coronavirus occurred. Once phase 2 began due to Maria’s high volume Chanel had to wait to see Maria.Chanel’s had her grooming today and it went FANTASTIC!!! She was well taken care of and wasn’t shaking at ALL. Maria even let me know that she was in HEAT!!! Ugh, as a 1st time dog mom; I HAD NO CLUE ON WHAT TO DO!!! Maria nicely took me off the ledge and explained to me what to buy and do.. The irony of life is that when I 1st went to Maria’s Pet Shop; I didn’t want the dog but, I was compelled to take her in. Maria taught me how to bond with my Nelly-Nel😌😌😌. I love 🥰🥰Chanel 🥰🥰and I am glad that I didn’t let what seem to be a negative review deter me from going to Maria’s Pet Shop. I highly recommend this establishment. Maria sincerely has your dogs best interest at heart. And the prices are extremely reasonable.

My mixed breed doggie (Cockapoo) always comes out looking and smelling his best. Been coming here every few months over the past two years and I have never been disappointed. Maria is great and her Mom is wonderful. As long as you can deal with that its an all day process, its a great place for grooming!

So I took my 7 month old yorkie to Marias Grooming the first time over the summer and the first thing I didnt like was that it took over 8 hours to groom. Then at home I noticed they shaved the hair on the tip of her ears to the skin. But I just thought it was a mistake or maybe my puppy wasnt still while getting groomed. So recently last week I took her back to have her face, fanny and nails trimmed and when I went to pick her up she jumped on me and was shaking, I didnt think anything, just that she missed me. I carried her home and that night I noticed she was limping and I checked her leg and when I looked at the bottom of her paws she was bleeding and had open cuts in between her paw pads! Then I go to take off the two bows they put on her hair and it looks like they pulled her hair so tight and put on the elastic of the bows that her scalp was red and has ripped hair out where the bow was. I am so pissed and hurt that they did this to my puppy!! She is now sick with vomiting & has a skin irritation due to whatever they put on her. I will never ever go back there again and I dont recommend no one to ever go there!!

Maria does a good job! HOWEVER she desperately needs help in professionalism.Supporting small businesses, owned and operated by women of color, should NOT be a forfeiture of good customer service. UNPROFESSIONAL * ALWAYS LATE, UNORGANIZED, DOGS IN WAITING FOR 4-5 HOURS, POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE POLICY When she screws up appointments, she ask the customer to pay an extra $50. If another groomer opens up in this area Maria will be Shyt Out Of Luck. The same way devalues customers. Get it together Maria!!

I took my 8 month old Malshi for his second grooming and when I picked him back up, he looked adorable..it was my first time there and Maria was amazing, I watched how she was with every dog she checked in and knew I would be coming back..She is a true dog lover..

Its close to home and the prices are reasonable (dog nail trimming). The lack of professionalism is evident. Sometimes it feels like theyre bothered or annoyed whenever Im there (or customers come in once Im there). Maria seems to have a bit of an attitude, but if youre willing to tolerate that in order to get your pets nails trimmed at a reasonable price then youre golden. :)

I live around the area and whenever I pass by all I see is people in a line waiting for the owner to open up the store and sometimes for hours. The owner is not responsible enough to own a business and show up on time for her customers which is unprofessional. I’ve witnessed how rude she is to customers when they’re the ones giving her business... avoid at all costs. I have my own pet and I would never take them here. I don’t recommend to anyone who actually loves their pets to take them here.. 0 stars if I could..

Long story short my neighbor passed away and his dog was gonna get shipped to an animal shelter so me knowing the dog and knowing how friendly he was i decided to take him in.However he was quite hairy and dirty so i decided to get him groomed.The service was less than 2hrs.My dog hubcat looked great.However i noticed he kept shaking his head so i started checking him and found that both ears has holes\dents i guess from when the groomer was shaving him down.There are bloody holes\dents and look like it irrate him.(i have pictures)So tomorrow he is scheduled to see the vet.My disappointment with this service is i wasnt informed of the injury.And i know they know it happen.So i will be looking for a new groomer.Thanks for the extra bills marias pet grooming

I sent my dog (Onyx) to Maria’s for boarding while I was on vacation. While I was away she did not give my dog her medication which she needed for a UTI infection. I informed them the schedule she was on for her meds. It still was not given. That same day when I arrived back from vacation I went with her to an equestrian center where we both keep our horses. Her horse injured injured my dog resulting in a double fracture. We disscused her helping and she responded if help is needed she would. That was not the case when the bill came she refused and denied all responsibility. This is disgusting behavior since I would expect the owner of a dog shop to have consideration for the injury her horse caused to my onyx. Unprofessional as it gets for place.

Took my dog in at 10:00AM, it is now 8:49PM and still waiting. Maria, owner or manager of this place, lacks professionalism. Doesnt bother to call to provide an update, has a nasty attitude and when I went in there to ask whats going in, she asked me if my dog was ready. Horrible!!! If you are patient and dont mind waiting, then go for it. Otherwise, stay away.

Been coming here for a few years and wouldn’t take my maltese Jazzy anywhere eles. Maria knows what she is doing and is the best at it. I come from the riverdale section to her because of the service she provides. Its a drive but well worth it!

I just move to the neighborhood and someone recommended this pet grooming shop.....This place is the worst, i been trying to contact them for a WEEK!!! and they never pick up the phone, and you cant leave a message cuz its always FULL! I decided to walk to the place and its close on hour of operation. U can call right now and pretty sure you not getting through. What kind of business is this?

Best and closest Pet & Grooming shop in the area. Theirs also a Veterinarian on site or on-call. I had my dog vaccinated and groomed there,. If your close to the Parkchester area, I highly recommend it.

I was blown away by how awesome Diane was with our lil Nova. Nova went in to get her nails done. She hates gettin her nails done so wen Diane came out with her after about 5 mins I thought she was gonna say “sorry, we couldn’t do them” or something to that.When she said she was done & they were cut & grinded, I stood there in shock. Nova was so difficult at our last place I had almost giving up.So glad we stopped by. You guys are now stuck with us. There secret I was told... pure love. They love all animals. And clearly Nova sensed that.

First time customer and I have to say that the way my puppy came out of Marias was phenomenal! When I dropped him off I knew we left him in good hands and that he would come back out looking his best. After running around and getting turned down at other places because my pup was a little difficult to deal with, Maria took on the initiative to tackle the task and get the job done. Maria did an excellent job at grooming my beautiful pup and I have to commend her for the patience and excellent customer service she provided us with during our visit. This will definitely be my to go place for Turbos grooming needs. Thank you so much!!

Never been to this shop...but...all my dog owner friends are always praising Marias Pet Shop....Its a very attractive boutique looking store.
