Sham of a vet. I took my dog there in September with extremely dry skin and red spots popping up. They didn’t do any kind of skin culture, and told me it was simply allergies. Not even a month later, he was COVERED in ring worm outbreaks.$500 later at a other vet, I have been battling ring worm now for 3.5 months. It’s still not gone. When researching, the dry skin and red spots were the sign of ring worm coming on.Don’t go here. They are a corporate vet and don’t care. All they had to do was take a skin culture, and my poor little guy could have avoided all of this. They did not. They just looked at it with the naked eye and gave me benedryl.Go to a local-owned vet. Anywhere but here.(Photos are from 2 weeks into treatment with a different vet)
The only place in the tri-county area that we could find to neuter our Flemish Giant rabbit (exotic), Moose. Service was kind and courteous throughout, and Dr. Long went above and beyond to reach out and make sure Mooses recovery was smooth. Excellent care, perfect operation, and great followthrough. Highly recommended.
I cannot say enough GREAT things about the environment and staff of VCA north country animal hospital. They have welcomed my littles with open arms and OPEN HEARTS. I always feel safe and like my pets are getting the very best care when they visit. Dr.Raah is phenomenal. She never hesitates to answer any questions or ease any anxiety. Very compassionate and down the earth. My girls always purr like crazy when she’s in the room. I cannot thank this facility enough for the endless worth and love they provide. I won’t take my pets anywhere else ❤️
Literally the best vet I have ever experienced. I have a sphynx cat, his name is darby, hes 3 years old and he was bought in korea. Everybody here is incredibly nice starting from the front desk to the nurse to the vet. For example I had an emergency where I needed an international travel document, they did everything they could to help me.
This review is a month late, but VCA North Country went above and beyond when we had an emergency situation at the end of August with our dog. They were the ONLY vet office in the region that would consider seeing our dog who was experiencing a seizure. Unfortunately, the seizure began near Clayton, NY and the nearby vet was rude and wouldnt offer help. Neither would any other vet in Watertown. VCA agreed to see her and they took my seizing dog from my arms as soon as I ran through the door. They administered medication to stop the seizure immediately. We had to drive nearly an hour to get to this office, so our dog was not in good condition, her temperature was above what the thermometer could read. They stabilized her so we could take her to the emergency clinic in Syracuse. Unfortunately, we had to have her euthanized but Dr. Kim and the team at VCA were life-savers. They likely saved my wife and I from experiencing a heart attack from the ordeal. Thanks Dr. Kim and VCA for your compassion and care.
We had brought our dog there since he was a puppy and he had numerous health problems like giardia, kennel cough, and then beagle pain syndrome. Dr. Gordon had been treating him since he was a puppy and she was always the best. I will never take my animals anywhere else. We called the vet last Saturday as an emergency because we noticed he hadn’t been eating or drinking and they immediately got him in. Dr Gordon ran as many tests as she could and tried to give us the best outcome but we ended up needing to put him down. All of those 10 years we were always met with compassion from dr Gordon and I wouldn’t have wanted anyone else to take care of my puppies.
I am so thankful for the staff and doctors! While on vacation camping 7 hours from home my elderly dog became extremely ill. They fit me into their schedule and helped my dog to be well enough to travel. He is now back home and amazingly recovered! I can’t say enough for their kindness and wonderful care!!
Im not sure about them. I was visiting the area & took my dog here for bite wounds as my original vet wouldnt see my dog until I had my dog looked at. I was far away from home & wouldnt be back home until the following week. Before I brought my dog here, I was doing everything I could do on my own to help heal his wounds. In my opinion, the wounds were healing perfectly & formed scabs (as a cut on most living things would do), but when the doctor saw the scabs, he said it looks like its infected, which I thought was weird, but figured, hey, I didnt go to school to be a vet, what do I know? He then proceeded to take my dog in the back & rip off the scabs, just to come back & tell me that the wounds were healing okay & there were no infections. I didnt even get acknowledged that I did a good job of taking care of my dog wounds on my own & ripping off his scabs were unnecessary! Nonetheless, the doctor prescribed my dog with some medication to continue the healing process from the inside, which I appreciated.
Absolute worst vet in the north country by far. They don’t care about your pet only about your money. I called because my dog was having an emergency they told me I was going to have to drive to Syracuse. Carthage got me in right away. VCA only exists to rip off and price gouge the military personnel that lives up here.
We love VCA Watertown! Even though we have moved away from Watertown, we still make the hour + trip for our animals’ appointments because we can’t imagine finding a better place. They are always very clear with recommendations, accommodating, thorough, and caring. We appreciate the follow-up on our appointments as well. Their superior standard of care is worth every penny. Our pup always melts like butter when he sees the staff, Dr. Hill, and Dr. Rohl! Have you ever seen a happier dog to go to the vet?
I cant recommend enough the quality and compassion of this clinic. I brought in my dog with a large tumor and they were very quick to schedule scans & surgery with her. While unfortunately it was too complex a location to be safely removed there, the vets still personally kept tabs on her progress throughout my appointments with an entirely different clinic & helped me find an oncologist for her. Their care for Athena was truly genuine. When ultimately I had to say goodbye to her, this clinic made sure they did everything they could to make the process as painless as possible. Such caring people, thank you for all you do.
This morning when we woke up, we discovered that our 18-year-old dog needed our help to get across the rainbow bridge. We live 90 miles away from this clinic. Nothing closer to us was open and they made room for us and took us as soon as we could get there. They made our dogs journey as comfortable as as possible. They were kind and compassionate and professional. I highly recommend them and I am extremely grateful for their help today.
My border collie mix used to LOVE coming here! The staff is extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and I couldn’t thank them enough for their efforts during COVID. Dante and I will always love this animal hospital
I can not say enough good things!!! Our dog had hurt his neck and we were so worried. We tried every single vet we could find in St. Lawerence County including our regular vet and no one would see him yesterday. I called North Country Animal Hospital and they were amazing! They saw him the same day, and took great care of our boy. THANK YOU!!
We just moved to Watertown this year and I was extremely nervous about taking our Dogue de Bordeaux to a new vet. Nails has had several big issues and I was afraid he wouldnt get the care he needed. We had a bad experience in the past where we almost lost Nails, so taking him to someone new made me very uneasy.I am thrilled to say that we absolutely love Dr. Hill! He is amazing with Nails. He understands that Nails is my world and doesnt get annoyed with me if I come with a thousand concerns. He takes the time to listen, explain and tackle every problem the Nails has. He follows up and checks in on Nails, which truly means the world to this helicopter dog mom. I cannot say enough about Dr. Hill. He truly cares about Nails and for that, I am grateful.
We switched our Dogue de Bordeaux (French Mastiff) to VCA from another local vet because we felt that she was not comfortable around him anymore because of his large size, and what a difference! The technician at North Country came right up to greet him without hesitation and Dr. Hill had absolutely no problem giving him a thorough exam. Staff was caring, friendly and professional... but most importantly Dr. Hill couldnt be more attentive and caring! He listened carefully to our concerns and suggested tests accordingly. He immediately followed up via texts, as well as email, and has provided excellent feedback ever since the exam 2 weeks ago... Dr. Hill truly is the best vet weve had in the 30 years weve owned dogs... thank you from us and our pup Nash!!!
We had always had a good experience here until our dog, Holly, got hurt. We called at 8am when they opened to get an appointment and they were able to get her in, however the vet, Dr. Mark, hassled my husband about purchasing this or that while in the exam room to examine my dog. She is very reactive and nervous at the vet. She was muzzled but still wouldn’t let the dr near her so they decided to sedate her, understandably, for X-rays. They charged us $95 for the exam alone where he didn’t even touch or look at her. They then charged us another $200 while she was under anesthesia just to examine the leg. This isn’t including the price for the sedation, X-rays, etc. $200 just for him to look at her leg while she was sedated. They said she was going to need to see an orthopedic surgeon in Ithica Ny. I asked about pricing for this and Dr Mark stated that he would get back to me within 24hrs. The next day, he sent me a TEXT MESSAGE saying the surgery was going to be between $5000 and $8000. I called the office trying to get ahold of him, they said he wasn’t available and would call me back. I called again a few hours later, still wasn’t available and the receptionist was extremely rude. I called again about an hour later, the receptionist asked me why I wanted to speak to him, I explained to her that I received his text regarding the surgery and wanted to see what options there were. She stated “well, if he referred you to another office it’s because there is nothing else we can do to help you.” I explained to her I just wanted to speak with him and she was extremely rude, dismissive, and lacked any and all empathy. When we finally heard from Dr Mark after 6pm, he was also pretty rude and dismissive, he tried to avoid answering if there were any other surgeons available that could do the surgery multiple times and I had to ask about it repeatedly. He told me that she would need to come back in within a week to get her splint removed and be sedated again. I asked for a quote on that, he couldn’t give me one. This entire situation has absolutely turned me off from ever using this vet again. The vet seems to only care about how much they can make and not about my dog. We paid $957 just to find out what was wrong and to get a splint put on her, that needs to be removed and we will have to pay additional for. They have been extremely rude and dismissive when trying to inquire if there was other options. The receptionist I spoke with needs some serious customer service and empathy training as she acted extremely annoyed when I was just trying to figure out the best route to take for my dog. We will never be back. I hope other pet owners think twice about bringing their pets here.
We just wanted to say thank you to the entire staff! They were prompt, helpful, and made our sweet cat feel safe and loved. They were able to get us an appointment within days. They were knowledgeable and so caring!
We will miss this animal hospital and kennel. They were incredibly good to our dogs and worked with us to make our dogs feel comfortable. I have big, obnoxious dogs and one is kennel aggressive. The other is sneaky and they took excellent care of both and were very communicative with us.
One of our dogs has been having trouble keeping any food down for a few days, then last night she started to have some swelling. We managed it through the night and planned to get her with our vet in the morning. Our regular vet was closed without any sort of notice online or otherwise. We called 7 vets and VCA was the only one able to squeeze us in. They were kind and compassionate and didn’t make us feel like we were an inconvenience, even though I’m sure it caused some chaos to their packed schedule for the day. They ran tests on our girl to rule somethings out, gave her fluids since she was dehydrated some, and gave us some meds and a plan to go through the weekend. We now have some peace of mind and hoping our girl keeps heading in the right direction. Beyond grateful for the staff and the generosity they showed us today. I will definitely be taking my dogs here from now on.
If I could give a score less than one I would! We were not clients, it was a Saturday afternoon and we . were visiting a relative from out of town. We lived 3 hours away. My dog had a seizure and collapsed and this was the only vet open within two hours from where we were. I pleaded with someone to just come and take a look at him so they could tell me if maybe he was having an allergic reaction to something or if it was something worse. They came out and said they needed to take a picture of his gums which they did. At that point they should have told us that something was severely wrong and he was probably bleeding internally because what had happened were classic signs. His gums were white and he was panting and he was kind of lethargic. They turned us away without giving us a clue what was wrong and we had to drive 3 hours home with our dying dog in the back of the car. I called my vet on the way home and was assured that I could bring him right in. They scooped him up brought him inside took a quick blood test and told me the bad news they believed that a tumor had ruptured inside of him and he was bleeding internally and we needed to help him pass. We gladly put him out of his suffering this dog was way too much of an Angel to ever let him suffer for one second! I believe that North Country Hospital could have very easily taken the time to put him out of his misery right then and there instead of making my poor baby suffer for 3 hours. This vet is very inhumane!!! Does not care about dogs at all!!Just my experience with them but I would never ever recommend this vet to anyone
Our 12 yr old Lab started having seizures on a Sat our own local vet isnt open on Saturdays I called they said bring her in after a 35min ride we made they took us right in and started evaluating our girl blood work ect . The nurses and the doctor were very compassionate .We had to make the decision that I never want to make again we had to put our girl to sleep no more suffering may she rest in peace.Thank you to all the staff .Highly recommend..VCA North Country Animal Hospital.
This vet has consistently provided excellent service to me over the course of 3 years. You can tell that the people that work there really love animals and want to provide them the highest quality care available. The only down side Ive encountered with this vet is that they are booked out so far ahead. If you need to make a non-emergency appointment, a lot of the time, it will be a month or more in advance, unless theres a cancellation. They just happen to be very busy because theyre conveniently located and popular.
Well, I was waiting for my granddaughter to be given to me because for me she was my granddaughter, not a pet. To put the review in this place I am going to give 4 stars and it is not because of the veterinarians, it is because of the staff they have working in front. We were very hurt by the loss of our girl and these 2 women who work at the front made fun of our pain, the one who is pregnant was very kind and helpful but the one with blonde hair and the one with black hair were very unpleasant I hope that when a family member dies there will be people Let them make fun of your pain because a little animal suffers the same as a person to say they suffer more because they cannot speak. And you ignorant women without professional ethics and without feelings if you do not have love for animals you should NOT work for veterinarians. Give them thanks Thank God they didnt have their names on their uniforms. Uniforms that they should NOT wear because they are ignorant and have a heart of stone. They are both incompetent and good for nothing and they are disgusting, hateful and Bulgarian women.
VCA North County Animal Hospital had been amazing! All the staff and doctors have always been great with my dog. You really can not ask for a better group of professionals to work with. Been going to VCA for at least 6 years and every single interaction was wonderful. I had medication to pick up monthly and they always made it easy and provided it all with a smile.
Nothing less or I would definitely give it to them. Took my kitten in after he was treated for upper respiratory infection and he was getting better. Didnt really want to get his shot with this second appointment but I did. The vet was very heavy handed and the 2nd shot made my little guy jump and howl. So the next day I called and told them that he was lethargic and couldnt stand or walk. Not eating or drinking . I was told to keep an eye on him but that it was like a reaction and he would be OK. Later on he started throwing up so I called them back but he passed before anyone got back to me. Then they told me to bring him in and he was already gone and I told them so. They kept telling me to bring him in but all I could do was tell them it was theyre fault they should have seen him earlier.
This is the best vet Ive ever worked with. One of my senior cats had several teeth pulled recently & they kept me updated throughout the entire day through both call & text. The amount of love & care they give to each of their clients/patients is incredible. I will literally never bring my fur-babies anywhere else & will ALWAYS recommend this vet to anyone that asks. Thank you guys so much for the work you do. You really are the best around.
AWFUL!!!! I went in as an emergency basis for my dogs tail. I thought it was a sprain or break. No. They wanted to run bloodwork and tests on her because she wasn’t up to date with Lyme disease vaccine. Not a care in the world about her tail! Not even a X-ray, they brought her to the back and did their apparent exam. They had to put a muzzle on her and she’s never had one on or even nipped at anyone. They tried getting me to buy the tick and flea collar at the desk, which I already said no thank you I buy my own, he still asked! They push money and buying care plans, items, unnecessary tests and what not. They were concerned about my harness on my dog and how they don’t like it and my dogs weight. I WAS THERE FOR MY DOGS TAIL. She was anxious to begin with, they were rude and unprofessional! The receptionists (if that’s what you want to call them) were rude and unprofessional! The one at the end needs an attitude check or a training in customer service bc she was awful! I will NEVER step foot in this dump again!
We went there for the first time and had an excellent experience! Cozy facilities, kind Vet doc and accepting new patients, unlike so many others in the area. We have waited 2 years to find a vet home and I’m glad VCA is meeting the needs of the community.
Greedy…take advantage of putting a pet to sleep. Had my 15 yo cat that was sick and was examined and treated 2 weeks prior to making the determination to euthanize. Brought him in to be euthanized. No exam was performed because nothing further was going to be done. Got the bill and noticed a $64 exam fee. There was no exam performed unless you count the vet saying yes he looks worse and you are making the right decision…that was $64. It cost $200 to have my cat put to sleep. It didn’t take an exam to determine the course of action. I will pay your exam fee, you are greedy. Look at the cost breakdown for their charges. RIP Orange.
I love VCA vet! Theyre amazing with my Stella one of my close friends aka Dr Lambo lol Makenzie... And Dr long is my favorite doctor hands down and even Stella likes him no matter that he gave her some shots. Absolutely love this establishment
This Vet is INHUMANE!!!!! We took our dog here on a Saturday. They were the only vet open withn 2 hours. We were visiting a relative from out of town, we lived 3 hours away. My dog had collapsed and had a seizure. We had NO idea what was wrong with him. He was in the back of our car and couldnt get up. We pleaded with someone to come out and just take a look at him and tell us what may be the issue. They said Im sorry we dont take walk ins. I explained that we lived 3 hours away and they didnt care. After about 10 minutes they came out and took a picture of my dogs gums. Then another came out 5 mins after and said we cant help you, you should take him to his vet. 3 HOURS AWAY!! When we arrived at our Vet, they scooped him up, did a 3min blood test and gave us the news that our baby was passing. He had a ruptured tumor and was bleeding internally. Nothing anyone could have done, he was 12 and it was just his time. This Vet could have done this quick test and put him down then and there instead of making this incredible dog suffer for 3 HOURS dying in the back of car. DONT take your dog here. They dont care about animals!!!
This place has got to be the best veterinary clinic in all of America. A couple of weeks ago I had to do the hardest thing any pet owner has to do... I had to put my beagle down. Scheduling the appointment couldnt have been easier especially in the time of mourning the time to come. Once we had arrived they had a soft dog bed for her to lay on as we surrounded her. The vet lady was super nice, respectful and comforting during this time frame. When the vet guy came in he gave her the light sleep dose and my dog very peacefully went into a deep sleep. Then when the second dose came, she left this world very very peaceful with no pain. The vet guy was super comforting. Later in the week we got her cremated and they gave us a pretty cool box and paw print for her.To seal the deal that put this place above all, we later received in the mail a hand written and signed letter from the vet that put her down. I could not be more satisfied with this veterinary clinic. If your dog/cat/pet is having any issues take them here, you WILL NOT be disappointed.
One of the vets got us in under short notice which was amazing and we’re very thankful! But I thought it was very odd that she got our phone number and texted after hours off of her personal cell. A tad bit unprofessional In my opinion.
The north country vca has been my pets vet for a little over 4 years and the whole time they were amazing at treating and diagnosing any ailments my pets were having. They were incredibly helpful when we were planning to move to HI, they helped walk me through the process and helped me get all my paperwork together to move. I recommend this vet to my friends and everyone in Watertown who wants great reliable care.
I brought a kitten I found at work in a barn that was barely breathing. I handed him over and told them I wasnt sure if he was going to make it. The secretarys first question was do you want to pay for CPR? I told her to try to save him and then we can talk about what Ill have to pay for. I get a snarky Well when you bring a stray in we expect you to take financial responsibility. I told her what if I cant pay? Well well humanely euthanize it. I replied youre going to jump right to that?!. The doctor came out right after and said the kitten had passed. To think they would hold off on performing simple CPR until I agreed to pay for it, something which wouldve taken a couple of minutes and the cats life depended on getting treated as fast as possible is outrageous itself, but the cold attitude from the desk was more becoming of someone working at a slaughterhouse, not a vet clinic. I could tell the other staff and patients were appalled. I then said I have the kittens sibling here that I want to get checked out, especially because I have a cat at home that I dont want to risk bringing anything contagious to. I was told they are too busy and to try somewhere else. I then asked if she has any tips for caring for a kitten so young (about 1 month), and she says no he needs to be seen by a doctor. Nothing about what to feed him or a good way to keep them separated while I work on getting him an appointment. I leave work to care for these kittens responsibly and bring them to the vet to try to save the one and I get treated as though I shouldve just left them to die. This is not indicative of the whole staff but unfortunately this one incident has destroyed my respect for this establishment and this employee is to blame. I cant remember her name but she has no business working in a vet clinic with the her blatant disregard and lack of compassion.
I would not recommend this clinic, especially if you have small/exotic pets. It is a shame because there aren’t many choices in this area and I had read good reviews of VCA. I brought my ferrets in and had to wait almost an hour past my appointment time to be seen. When I was finally seen, the doctor was condescending, brisk, and did not give me an opportunity to ask questions. She then sent me to the lobby to wait while my ferrets were examined in the back and given a vaccine, which took another 45 min. I have always been in the room in every other veterinary clinic while my pets were examined. The vet then tried to sell me unnecessary services at twice the cost I have paid in 5 other states and other cities in upstate NY for vet care, and made me feel bad for declining them, though I knew them to be unnecessary. For a clinic that is “corporate”-as the technician called it-(after telling me the incorrect information about the vaccine my ferrets would be receiving and sounding very ignorant in general about ferrets), they can’t seem to afford decent furniture in the examination rooms or provide good customer service. I will be taking my pets to Syracuse or Ottawa in future, despite the drive.
We had an emergency with our diabetic furbaby-of course on a weekend-but they took him right in and stabilized him. Within 2 days we were able to bring him home. His insulin was adjusted and hes been great ever since. The entire staff, from the Veterinarian, Techs and Receptionists were wonderful!
They take great care of our family dogs. It was difficult to get routine appointments during the COVID-19 restrictions but when I did have an emergency situation, they were able to see my dog right away. Thankfully, they were very compassionate and understanding. One of my dogs even enjoys going there and I’ve never had a dog like the vet before.
Was very pleased with how good they are for following up with my request. The vet, the support staff and the manager for the boarding kennel have all been very professional and helpful in caring for me dog. I am boarding him for the first time there in the coming days and excited that my dog will have a family to look after him while we have to board him.
Weve been taking our pug here for five years and have always been happy with the medical and boarding services. Great vets and staff, billing questions always answered to our satisfaction.
Dr. Rohl is phenomenal. She doesn’t bat an eye when I bring my raging monster of a panther in for an exam. She and whoever is working with her on that day just roll up their sleeves, put on their battle armour and get it done. I love my Buddy but I’m not gonna lie, I would never be able to handle the little beast he turns into when he needs an exam. Not ever. Dr. Rohl is one in a million. The front office staff are all very kind, helpful and patient, also. Thank you, VCA.
This place is not actually a hospital. If it were they would take in emergencies and not refer you to Syracuse. As far as I can tell, they are just an ordinary vet that has a very misleading name. Ive heard stories of this place not receiving pets they have been taking care of for years get a new owner and refuse to take those pets, even though they are a patient! And any time I have called to try to get my pets in(or emergencies, because they claim they are a hospital) I can never get them in. Were not excepting new patients seems to be their motto. I highly recommend not trying to get into this place as they have been highly unhelpful when pets are in need who arent in their patient registry. Also, itd be helpful if there was a way for to see pets after hours and on the weekends for emergencies! PETS ARE LIVING BEINGS TOO!
Im going to really miss this place when I move. Your Vets are so incredible, they really love their jobs, and they clearly love animals. They care about what they do and they understand that a pet is a family member to the people coming in, so they treat them as such. Your kennel services are outstanding! I know you take care of my animals, and if there is an emergency you have the right staff to make sure theyre ok, when I leave my pets with you I dont feel concerned or worried at all, nothing but the greatest experiences with your service. Even when my wife just wants to call in and ask how the dog and cat are doing you guys really take the time to let her know everything and it makes her feel so good, you really do your jobs well and I cannot thank you enough for everything!
I’ve taken my animals there long before my vet retired. When she did, I was at a loss as to whom to trust. Dr.Hill is the best! Very caring & explains all thoroughly. This pandemic, however, has changed the fact that I can be with my dogs if they need to come in. I get it but don’t care for that factor. And some of the prices have gone up on services, which is why I gave a 4 instead of 5 star review. It’s tough to come up with the extra money & I don’t need another credit card Bill to contend with. Overall, I’m satisfied with this vet service over others in the area.
First, let me say that my fur babies have been long time clients at VCA and I have always been happy with the services provided. However, about 2 months ago I tried getting my elderly sick pug seen on an emergency basis, was refused.. told the do not see emergency cases. That may be the case now, but my animals have been seen at VCA for emergencies previously. As stated in a previous review, was told to call Syracuse. Thankfully, my doggie has recovered!! Now..I made an online appointment for my kitty a couple weeks ago for today. I take a half day off off work, drive a half hour out there, arrive on time, try to check in and the receptionist tells me I don’t have an appointment!!! Apparently it didn’t carry over into the computer system. They are completely booked and can not see us until February!! This being a health/vaccine visit needed within the next couple weeks before he goes back to college as he is my daughters ESA. Now my daughter is freaking out, in tears that she can’t bring him with her. Couldn’t even squeeze in us in.. refused! Grrrrrrrr.. If your scheduling system is not up to par.. do not use it! I understand things happen, I understand technology isn’t always perfect, I understand the Covid has raised havoc EVERYWHERE… BUT my time is just as valuable as yours! The health of my animals is just as valuable as yours. I have always praised the care given and referred friends and family to your office.. no longer! I will be taking my animals elsewhere from here on out. Completely Inexcusable VCA!
My initial experience here with Doctor rae was wonderful. From that point on I was overcharged 3 times. I feel they are all about the money and are more expensive than others
Had my first-ever experience with this animal hospital today when my dog suffered a painful paw injury. They gave me a Saturday appt when my local vet was closed. This place did *everything* right. My pup got excellent care. The facility is welcoming. I was given an estimate to approve in advance. The price was fair. They followed up. I am so grateful. I recommend VCA North Country highly and hope to be their customer from now on.
We had a mini pug that couldnt urinate and who started declining health wise. Our local vet was unable to get us in due to being backed up because of covid. VCA was able to get us in fortunately and said our mini pug had lyme disease from a tick which is very possible. They did treat him aggressively for it which I am grateful for however I feel there was something else going on with him as the vet said that his liver tests were off. They had me buy something over the counter for him which was hard to get and then 2 days later he died. I am appreciative they were able to get him in so quickly and acted on his lyme disease with post haste however I wish they would have taken that action in all aspects of his care including the liver aspect of it. Yes he was 12 years old but I felt he had many more years to live.
The VCA staff went over and above to help treat our Siberian Husky, Natasha. We were on vacation from Michigan and had an emergency. The staff did everything they could to get us an appointment in a timely manner. We ended up driving an hour and half to the Syracuse urgent care. But, we are still grateful for the VCA for trying to accommodate our needs and for being so understanding.
I brought in my reactive girl Luna today. They had a separate door we were able to go through so she could avoid other dogs. Luna was very stressed at the appointment, even though she was the vet and vet staff offered her amazing care. They got down to her level, gave her treats to help calm her and were so patient. I was scared she’d be too much but these vets and techs showed me they really care and specialize in what they door. Front desk reception was very kind and helpful. We have been her prior with our cat Basil and that was a good experience too. I’m nervous for my girls upcoming surgery with them, but after today I trust them fully with my girl. Thank you all for being so kind and caring. I appreciate you and what you do
The vet technicians and the receptionists at the front were so kind and caring to me and my little one. But the vet on the other hand was very rough and I personally didn’t like the way he treated my animal. I don’t think I will be going here again. But the building was gorgeous and the rest of the staff were kind and helpful with my concerns. Prices are reasonable and the wait was fairly normal for a vet clinic (30 minutes for me).
This is the best place to take your animal. I had to take my cat in for an emergency they got her in right away and took care of the problem immediately. They called me to update me on her and the doctor himself even texted me the next day to ask me how she was doing. Thankyou so much! Lucky is doing so well thanks to you guys
Ive been going to VCA, Watertown for years. The veterinarian doctor, Dr. Rohl, was the vet I have had this past year for my dog Lily. Lily was a little bichon that made it to 16 years old. Doctor Rohl was sooo compassionate and genuinely connected with me through the whole process of Lilys aging. She even offered me a hug when we discussed Lilys timeline. Lily passed this week 5/24/23 and Dr. Rohl reached out to me with a call on the day Lily died and then again 2 days after she sent a text inquiring on how I was doing. I will forever be grateful to her. To me that is going above and beyond. It really has meant so much.❤
I went there 3 years ago due to a dog I just adopted from the SPCA. Molly had eaten her tennis ball and luckily it was passing through her system and didnt need surgery. The clinic was clean, staff were friendly, and just quiet and calm, with a few dogs letting their humans know they didnt want to be there. Im glad I have a happy, healthy, dog thanks to the staff at the pet hospital.
We are passing through your beautiful area and we chose North Country because they were the first vet that would see our pet while we are here. We were comfortable from the moment we walked in. From the receptionist to the Dr. we and our dog were treared with kindness and respect. We received the news that she was in pain and experiencing liver failure without surprise. They gave us plenty of time to consider our options. They made saying goodbye to our companion of over ten years sweet and peaceful. Our thanks to all that helped us.
If I could give them zero stars, I would.Called to make an appointment for my elderly pet rabbit who needed to be put down. This is the only vet who will treat small animals unless you are willing to drive to Syracuse.I was told I needed to leave a message with the techs before they would even consider seeing me. I left a message and was told the would call me in a max of 24 hours to say if they could see me or I had to go somewhere else. This is absurd for an emergency situation of a dying animal. I ended up driving to Syracuse to a vet.Oh and 48 hours, they still haven’t called me.Completely unprofessional and showed no empathy for a suffering animal. If they would have told me from the jump, they couldnt see me... that is fine. I understand things get booked up, but to leave me hanging in limbo is quite rude.
I took my 5 month old German Shepard who is very skittish of people, especially males and he did Amazing! The facility is beautiful, everyone is very friendly and Dr. Hill is the best!! Thank you for making a first time pet owner and her puppy so comfortable.
My dog was having GI issues while traveling for Christmas. We found this vet on our trip and they took us that day as soon as possible. Not only is the facility amazing, but the staff was great. From the front desk to the veterinarian, everyone was helpful and prompt. We were out of there in 45 minutes and back on the road with antibiotics for my pup. Definitely recommend this vet.. If I lived in the area I would certainly be a regular customer.
I am new in the area so did not have a new vet yet, my cat was having an issue and they were able to get us in right away. The office staff and techs were friendly, the Vet was very nice and helpful.
Great service they was the only vet around who took me in real quick (emergency).Super friendly doc and personal.Thank you guys again to help me in my hard time that quick and competent
Lizzie has been a patient since she was born. ( even before I became her Mom.) She has had excellent care here. All the staff are very pleasant and definitely animal lovers. Lizzie was the victim of a large dog attack while we were on vacation at a friend’s in Ohio. Consequently, she lost an eye. She was given a follow up appointment right away to check her when we returned. While we were in the waiting room, a couple of large dogs were there also. The staff helped to keep Lizzie ( and me) from being near these dogs by taking us into the exam room immediately and letting us check out and leave by a side door. We were still in shock and traumatized by the incident. It was helpful to have this consideration at that time. We continue to go here for care even though we live in Harrisville and it is quite a distance to go.
I took my not so young pup in for an ear infection, hes always had bad anxiety at the vets, and Dr Hill has always been very patient with him. Yesterday I had the opportunity to spend time with both he and his tech Christy. I can not say enough about their professionalism and complete attentiveness to both me and my boy. I felt as if my Grizzley were the only patient they had. I can not say enough positive things about both of them and North Country Animal Hospital.
Took my 10 yr old Peek-a-poo to this vet, for the 1st time, for her back issues, and they were so helpful and kind! I truly appreciate the love, care and attention they gave to both of us. I will be going there again in Sept of 2016 to get all her shots updated, and Im actually excited about it.... How often can you say, you are excited to see a vet?? Well I am! but I cant speak for my poor dog..... *sigh*
We came to this office because our dog was very ill and our normal vet is closed on the weekends. The wait was short, and they gave us a diagnosis (or at least a part of one) and we appreciate that. However. The rest of the experience was dreadful. Our girl has glaucoma (that partial diagnosis) but they couldnt say which kind (primary or secondary), they couldnt answer any questions we had, they gave us an incorrect prescription for the glaucoma that would later cost us $350. The vet wasnt the slightest bit knowledgeable on something that a good percentage of dogs develop. Well be going to our normal vet tomorrow morning to get a second opinion, because the pharmacist we went to to pick up the prescription said it didnt look right. That it seemed like a high dosage for an adult person, let alone a 10 pound dog.I appreciate the answer as to what was wrong. But the rest of the experience was abhorrent.
I’m so appreciative I stumbled upon VCA. From the first phone call to even the last one telling me I could pick up Carlos’s ashes. They were/are so kind friendly and adapted and helped me with the difficulty situation I am in. Carlos came back in an absolute beautiful urn with a beautiful paw print. Which I requested his left paw print and they were more than ok with doing my request. They definitely made this really easy and smooth as it could be (even my ugly crying over the phone with them) thank you all so much!!!! I honestly cannot say enough nice and amazing things about the amazing ladies at the VCA!!
Last week I called to have what looked like an infection on my dogs pad looked at. They said to wash it with antibiotic soap it will be fine. Now most of the pads rough surface is gone and is a bright pink, of course painful for my dog. Ive been trying to call for an hour, constantly busy. Since the place changed to VCA it has become terrible. Wish I never went there but we let them talk us into a payment plan so were STUCK here. Time to shop for a new Vet, inspire of the money, unlike VCA my dog comes before my checkbook.
Over the holiday weekend my Rottweiler of 13 years became very ill. She was not eating, drinking, relieving herself, or moving around at all. I called my usual clinic, North Country Animal Health Center. They were not open for business so they directed me to Watertown Animal Hospital. The woman on the phone was very polite and helpful with all my questions and had a vet contact me right away. After speaking with the vet she suggested I try different types of food and medicine to see if she would improve or not. If not, I was directed to call the next day and I could make arrangements to bring her in. The following day arrived, I called up the same number to make an emergency call with the vets, and I was denied. I asked why, your not a regular customer here, the vets would like you to call tomorrow. I know its a holiday and everyone loves a day off, but as a Vet. you chose your profession. You knew you would have to work holidays and weekends. because of this my pet of 13 years has to suffer for one more day. I truly hoped you all enjoyed your bbq.Jason
We used to be members of this practice prior to their acquisition by VCA and we trusted them with our furry and feathered children who we adore. However, since they have been acquired the culture and policies have been cold and uncaring (much unlike their providers who have been wonderful). I had an incident where I had one of my ducks was viciously mauled by an animal, and to her credit she survived but was in very bad shape and in much pain, to the point she likely needed to be euthanized to end her suffering. However, they coldy refused to see her and grant her this little mercy in her suffering. Im a human doctor and Im appaled at how callous they were in such a terrible incident, where it would be entirely unethical to do such a thing in human medicine. I drove an hour to a decent caring vet to give her a chance of surviving or at least an end to the pain. This practice should be ashamed of itself and they are a stark reminder of corporate greed and apathy that should be reigned in.
I called to make an appointment and was left on hold for 15 minutes only to be asked again what I needed and after telling them I needed a new pet appointment they place me a hold for another 10 mins to be asked for a 3rd time what I was on the line for. I gave them a chance and scheduled two Individual appointments for my 2 dogs. On the first appointment, I arrived as usual (10 mins prior to my appt time) and checked in. I sat waiting for 30 mins past my appointment time and finally decided to ask the receptionist what was going on. She seemed annoyed at my question (even though I was sitting right in front of her the entire time and she knew I was waiting). She Got up and whispered around to the staff in the back. Still waited an extra 15mins after I brought it to her attention to get seen. On the second appointment, I was passed about 10-15mins after my appt time. The vet came inside the room and decided it was a good idea to immediately approach my son so he would move him out of the way so he could examine my dog and my dog snapped. The vet did not take the time to allow my dog to smell him/meet/introduce himself properly. And in a final attempt to give them a 3rd chance I tried to schedule a time where I could have my dogs get 1 vaccine they needed to be left for boarding. Background-my dogs had an up to date physical exam and the rest of their shots up to date and have never had any medical issues that would require any concern with this vaccine that had already been administered in the past with no issues. The receptionist told me I needed to get them in for ANOTHER physical exam because “it’s been a while since we last seen them”. My response- it’s been less than a year, they are not due for their annual yet...”yeah but it’s been a hot minute” was her response. When I asked if she would schedule an appointment then she gives me a date six weeks out when I’m telling her I’m leaving next week for a trip. I respectfully asked for my dogs records and decided I would Take my business elsewhere. Terrible service overall and honestly overpriced.
Amazing & patient staff. Clean, welcoming atmosphere; it looks like a country cabin! It gets pretty busy but they take care of everybody so well. I will definitely be going back! They saved me so much money & worked with me when I had to pay as well.
I have 6 animals and I found that one had ear mites. I took her in to get treated. The vet didnt say this is a social thing that they are most likely to be in all of the pets and didnt bother to mention that it was a possibility that I should do something for the other five. So I went home and checked. Seems to me they all have it. So I went in today to get the medication so I could get rid of all of it in the others. They said sorry. Your 200 dollars is not good enough. We want a thousand because we need you to bring in all five to test them and give them the medicine ourselves. Granted I just spent 200 on my first cat. To have an emergency visit to get her taken care of. Well I used to think that this vet was the best up here. But just like every vet office in New York all they care about is their money. So I will not ever be going there again. 1800pet meds all the way here. Sad
This place is truly incredible!Last week I had an awful incident with my cat that lead to not many options, I live in Syracuse and my local vet reached out to this office, they squeezed me in LAST minute to try to save my kitty.Doctor Hill was the veterinary who performed an endoscopic procedure to remove hair ties stuck in her intestines, not only was he extremely kid and compassionate but he explained things to me 100% every step of the way in ways I fully understood. He offered to show me what had been inside IF I wanted to see it(I did! Who wouldn’t want to see what almost killed their baby?! I needed to know what to never leave laying around again)and made sure scarlett was fully okay before sending me back on my way home. The staff was amazing, in total the drive was an hour and I waited in the clinic for about 4 hours awaiting another hour drive homeThe staff checked in on me and made sure I was okay the entire time even giving me directions to town for food/coffee etcI am furrever thankful for them and their fast acting! I highly recommend if you are local or even not local give them a call you will not regret it! :)
We had to have our min pin who was 15 put to sleep this past weekend and Dr.Hill was incredibly compassionate and made us feel at ease with our decision. Thank you
Try to order medicine from chewy .com but no one at this office likes to answer emails so now my dog gets no medicine. Chewy charges $236.20 for 3 months and this office wants to charge almost 200 dollars for a one month worth of pills. Then when you call to speak to an actually vet they dont have one capable to speak on the phone. The people who answer the phones have no compassion for animals when you tell them whats going on with your animal they dont even offer to have your pet seen by one of their so called veterinarian. Lastly this place only sees you and your pet as dollar signs and thats it. Theres one vet that works there that treats your pets like their beneath him and thats why he will never touch another animal of mine!!
I love this vet. When my sweet girl Summer passed away suddenly.. Their highly trained staff walked me through CPR on my 1 year old GSD. Thank you for everything you do and will continue to do for our furr babies!! ❤️
I started as a client in 1990 and had my Baileys records transferred out last month. That was not noticed I got a email his lyme shot is due? I loved the doctors. Over the years we dealt with parvo, epilepsy, doggy alzheimers. You name it. They used to work with you on payments. Now you call with a sick dog and its come in a week from Friday. Unless they become an emergency then we will squeeze you in. I couldnt keep fighting to get them to let me talk to Barb to get a apointment that was reasonable. Waiting 30 min to check out and the one snippy girl challenging the medicated shampoo purchase? They keep it out back for goodness sake I dont have access to that. Last time I asked for meds to be called in cause its cheeper for me the girl huffed at me! 4 years youve sent this in and now its an issue? Ive referred many when one couldnt get her sick dog in last month vomiting dog! And I see here out of town clients walk right in...this is not the pratice I knew and trusted. With Baileys seizures I need to know you have his back always , you didnt even know transfering his records ment you were seeing his back side. I still love the medical staff they are good at least.
Because they aren’t taking new clients they won’t even help you if it’s an emergency. So don’t bother calling them. Our cat has a possible broken back leg and they said “sorry keep calling around, merry Christmas!” Imagine hearing that after calling 10 other places that also don’t want to help you at all. An animal hospital should be able to take someone with an emergency.
Everytime Ive called I get told its same-day appts only. The front desk staff are rude. I called to make an appt because I thought that maybe my animal might have a broken paw. The lady at the front desk was rude and told me to go to Syracuse veterinary er. I told her I couldnt and she still refused to make an appt for me or help me any further. The vets are great but the staff at the front desk are horrible. Its becoming difficult for my animals to be seen at this office. I wouldnt recommend this office
Horrible. Our dog came home from boarding there, malnourished with sores on both her ears as well as a strange infected shaved area. When we contacted VCA they did nothing, offered no explanation and accused us of making the whole thing up. Absolutely dont leave these people alone with your pet.Already spoke with staff and we were told to piss off, Tina.Reporting this to VCA for further action. Reporting VCA to BBB.Hi Tina, here is a picture of the neglect. Sore on her ear. Madera did a skin scrape on it. Said it was infected. Does that ring a bell with you?
Im impressed at the care and respect that went into my cats cremation and memorial pieces. They put green beads in his clay paw print because his eyes were green. They also gave me a vial of his fur, it has both black and white (he was a tuxedo cat). These sort of details make a big difference.
Outstanding care for my elderly furbaby dog. Dr.hill treated us as a friend and explained a procedure and helped us keep our girl home and healthy and shes still happily with us. Excellent care all the way!
Omg, these people are are best !! I was on vacation and my cat got very sick. They got me right in and help my wife and I with a very difficult situation with our cat. They treat you like royalty !!. I will forever be grateful for everyone at this place. Thank you so much !! There are not enough words to express our gratitude . They are the best !!
The North Country Animal Hospital is great. When I went there for my kitty when she got injured, the doctor I had was very professional and very understanding. I lost it in there when I got told that I couldnt save her and he was good about everything. He handled me pretty well. Also, he sent me a cardThank you North Country Animal Hospital
I had the absolute pleasure of having an appointment yesterday with Makenzie and Dr. Lu to get vaccinations for my dog, Rocky. Rocky visited once before for vaccinations and it didnt go so well as hes not very well socialized, so I was forced to schedule another appointment at a later date when I could give Rocky some anti-anxiety medication to calm him for the appointment. I was worried at the beginning of the appointment because Rocky was getting worked up being around so many new human and animal friends that this appointment would go the same way as the first appointment did, but Makenzie quickly put my mind at ease by treating Rocky like he was her own pet. She took the time to listen to my suggestions and interact with Rocky instead of being all business about the appointment like I had dealt with before. When Dr. Lu came in he wasnt afraid of Rocky, took his time, listened to my concerns and let me help distract him so the vaccines could be administered. He took his time to make sure Rocky was well taken care of and also make sure I felt heard. With some patience and allowing some grace for Rocky to vocalize his displeasure in being given so many needle pokes, Makenzie and Dr. Lu restored my faith in this office and were able to get Rocky all of his vaccinations. Its been 27 hours since my appointment ended and I still couldnt be any happier with how it went.Dr. Lu and Makenzie are great assets to this facility should both be commended for being incredible at their jobs and I hope I can see the combination of the two of them for every visit going forward, knowing that things will go as smoothly as possible and Rocky will be given amazing care with the two of them.
Love them, they are great with our animals! Great to work with, especially in an emergency. We have been going there for years after we switched from another vet that was less than friendly and polite.
This place is amazing. They listen and take their time explaining everything from start to finish and really care for their fur friends and families. Thank you Dr. Mark and the front desk team for making our experience amazing. 100% would recommend to anyone who has a fur baby.
Had two different occasions now where Ive called an hour or so before close and reception said someone would call back and never heard anything from them until the next day when their helped didnt even matter.
Been here twice now, both when my cat was really sick. They always call to check up on her a few days later to see how she’s doing. A little pricey but I’d rather pay more for the care being received. Recommend this place for anyone needing a vet in their area!
This is the absolute best place to take your fur babies . They are kind and extremely helpful. They saved my Lizzy. They care for your pet like it is a part of their own family. I highly recommend them.
The appointment was great, staff listened and provided a plan. Unfortunately had to wait 6 months to get that initial appointment. Glad they were recommended by my son-in-law and daughter.
I love this practice. They are kind and thorough. Dr Mark really has a way with pups.I felt that my concerns were well taken and that my fur bestie received loving care
Hello! I need to speak to somebody today before I drive all the way there, I’ve called the number on two different phones a bunch of times now, I would really like to speak w someone!.... my animal is sick, and this is my vet. Not a lot of vets accept ferrets, and this is my vet anyways, I shouldn’t have to start all over again w a new vet today just to talk w someone!....... not good!.
My cat had been getting sick all day and wouldnt stop. After I got home from work they allowed me to have an emergency appointment after they closed. My first time at the vet and they were great. So great full that they did this for me
Highly recommend this place. We use it mainly to board our cat when out of town. They are not expensove even when adding play time onto the boarding cost. Staff is friendly and proffessional and get to know you animal. We tried several places around watertown and this is by far the best place to go.
They do a wonderful job of caring for animals! We never go anywhere else because of how helpful everyone is here. I recommend North Country to everyone who asks me about vet services in the area! Thank you for everything you do for our family and fur kids!
Ive had nothing but good experiences here. I didnt feel pressured into doing anything unnecessary for my pet. They gave me options, were very informative, and really took the time out to listen to my concerns.
These folks are the best. I am very happy with the care my fur babies are getting. Dr. Hill is the best. If you love your pets take them here.
Ridiculously priced and charged for services they didnt provide.... Highly recommend going to someone else!!!
Dr Chris takes excellent care of my guinea pig. Everyone there treats her with the love and support they would their own fur baby.
Great place and great ppl,I went there for the first time on 7/2 and thought I was going to have to put my dog to sleep due to her pyometra and was told by the other vet I had been going to (different clinic )that my poor baby would have to be put to sleep if I couldnt get her spayed,I was devastated so I brought her hear for a second apinion and my baby girl is going to be ok,she does need to be spayed but the staff is wonderful and are working with me for the cost Im so happy.Thankyou so much Dr Hill and every one at this clinic, thank you for saving my Luna bella ♡
I love this place! The vets and staff treat you like family. They do their best to accommodate you Dr. Hill and Other vets are awesome.
They are quick and inexpensive. They just dont have a lot of testing equipment on site to properly diagnose exactly what kind of bowel problem your 4-legged-friend has.
Great service and my dog likes going there. Never had a problem.
They take great care of both Clementine & Mystic
I love this place and take all my animals there. The staff is friendly and understands budgets. They have never pressured me to do or buy anything.
Very helpful and available on weekends.Brought my pup in for an emergency and switched to them as my regular vet because they were great.
Very knowledgeable and nice staff but prices are a little higher than others, of course that is something I would expect with the care your pets receive
Great Vets, Techs and staff. They have gone above and beyond for my pets. Always friendly and professional.
Staff was very caring, and the Veterinarian answered all the questions I had for my cat.
I loved this vet when I lived in the area any time I needed to get my dogs into their office they always got them right in. Prices are decent to.
They are amazing. They treat the animals very well and communicate great with the owners.
They always do a great job caring and boarding for my cat.
The VCA North country animal hospital are very nice they treated your pets very nice.
They do a good job and are friendly
Wow! amazing staff, very kind and compassionate. I had never been here before but after an emergency visit with one of my ferrets they were more than helpful. Very quick and very easy to get him seen immediately. Love them and can’t wait to be back for annual checkups!!
I had to log into another email just to leave another review for these guys. (My last review was 9 months ago.) They handle every patient & their humans with so much care & love. There arent words to describe how wonderful this establishment is & Im so grateful both of my fur-babies can he seen here. Thanks for all yall do. ❤️
Tranquil atmosphere. Friendly staff. Expert care. & the price is right. I highly recommend this veterinary clinic.
Updating my review from many years ago, as I no longer go to this clinic. When it was owned by the doctor who opened it everything was absolutely fantastic. Once VCA took over it went drastically downhill. The quality of care dipped tremendously, while the prices for everything absolutely skyrocketed. Several very unpleasant interactions with a particular doctor resulted in me returning to the vet we had previously used (only switched as they werent experienced with exotics when I had ferrets.) The nail in the coffin was that our repeated requests to NOT see a particular doctor were ignored.
Best place to go to for your pet. Staff is amazing and are always willing to go above and beyond for you and your pet.
So. Great to my baby,. And they understand that our dogs are family and treat them as such
Best in town! Work with you on a payment plan if needed. Dr. Is awesome.
No complaints at all about this vet. Most often a wait, but worth it.
Amazing vet office! Phenomenal receptionists, technicians, and Veterinarians. All extremely kind
Pricey but they always take good care of our pets.
Personable compassionate I drove 2 hrs for emergency and they were great
I love this vets office they are kind and they really care about the animals
They took excellent care of my dog in her final hours
This is the best of the best when it comes to animal care. They are always friendly and understanding. We had to put Miss Rosie the Rat down and they not only gave us the ceramic tile with her prints they mailed us a card with a personalized note from the staff there. That was really amazing that they would do that for us.The facility its self is really something else to. Its just absolutely gorgeous on the inside. Plenty of room for animals and a play area for the kids, actual children not dogs. With our large family of dogs the building and staff and just terrific.I would recommend North Country to anyone with animals.
We have loss four dogs in five years and vca staff was caring and understanding and very supportive. The doctors took the time to send us cards personal with beautiful words. We are leaving and moving to Colorado and we will miss this group. They are just wonderful people. Thank you guys for taking good care of are babies.
We have two dogs and two cats that go here, you couldn’t ask for a better team to care for your pets! They are quick to respond to ANY question, and we had two fixed there and the vet reached out a few days later to see how they were doing. These guys don’t just care for your pets, they love them like they are their own, that says a lot when they see hundreds of others throughout the year.
I loved the place. Everyone there was very nice. The vet gave us lots of information and gave great advice. This is the first time we have been there since we are new in the area. We have had the same vet for years but was pleasantly surprised with the new one. Look forward to years of visiting the North County Animal Vets.
They are very good with the animals, treat them with kindness and respect
Very caring staff. They even made a follow up call to check in on my dog and make sure he was doing well and did not need more medicine. They booked an appointment for first thing the next morning when I called with an emergency one afternoon. I will take my animals back!
I called to board our cat here, as we had in the past, and they said that he needed an exam. I told the woman that he had his exam 5 months ago in St Pete, FL, along with all of his shots and blood work, and that I had the paperwork for this. She said that it was policy for them to do this, so I asked to speak with the manager. The manager said that they have always did this (which is a lie), and that it was required (even though they always accepted our Florida vets exam in the past..). I pushed, saying that we never did this in the past with them (we boarded him there 3 or 4 times before), and she said that it was the law, and that they would not accept an exam from another vet. Really? The LAW? The DVM after our Florida veterinarians name means nothing? She said that our Florida vet would not accept their exam, which is another lie. So, we would have to bring him in one day for his exam, then again put him in the box a second time? I would not want to do that for our pet- he hates travelling. It seems to me that all they are interested in is our money, and not our pet. We dont care so much about the money, as we do about being lied to and having to bring the cat there twice. We will not be going there again; there are other, better vets in the area, we have found.
Our terrier puppy and my girlfriend were attacked by a pitbull, honestly did not think the puppy was going to make it. VCA north country not only saved our dog, but was amazing every step of the way. They are the golden standard for customer service, giving us 3 calls a day for an update directly from the Vet, Dr Chris Gordon, and they understand the emotional side of situation, handling it with the utmost professionalism.
Staff is friendly and caring. Best place I have been.
THESE PEOPLE DONT ANSWER THE PHONE EVEN WHEN I PRESSED 1 FOR EMERGENCY
My animal is in severe pain and has a become almost immobile due to a tumour. I called for to see about euthanize bc i cant stand to see her hurting. She is constantly bleeding from it and now can barely walk or get up. I explained exactly what is going on. Ontop of the 10minute hold time (asked to hold MULTIPLE times as there was some confusing about another customer who apparently emailed about the same thing?? ) then im told i need an appointment and tried to schedule me one for THREE DAYS LATER. What part of SHES DYING AND IN PAIN do yall not comprehend??? Horrible HORRIBLE service.Thank you for causing more pain not only to my lil girl, but also the mental anguish you are making me go thru. I Will NEVER step foot near this disgusting place again and will make sure to spread word around town. I just want my baby girl to no longer suffer. She doesnt deserve this!!! SHAME ON YOU GUYS!!!
Great place to take your Pets for checkups and shots.
Place was absolutely amazing with my furbaby!! Ill be taking him back for sure, they were all so friendly and very caring. My baby is old and they all cared for him as much as me❤
If I could of put zero stars I would of but hey thats not an option. So on Saturday my yellow lab out of no where went paralyzed in his back half of the body. We were calling around trying to find a place that was open and they were the only ones open that wasnt an hour away. The lady on the phone just told us to go to Syracuse without even asking what happened. Then after another phone call back to them we got him in. Once were there they did x-rays and gave him pain meds and said nothing abnormal was found on his x-rays. So for him to be seen after hours, x-rays and 2 kinds of meds $800 and with no explanation or anything. As a day or two go by my wife and I discuss what to do and we came to the conclusion to put him down, thankfully a very good friend recommended a 2nd opinion with her vet down in lowville at countryside which they made us a appointment for the next day well within 10-15 minutes they found out what was wrong and gave us options of what we could do. X-rays showed a ruptured disc which was putting fluid on his spine and they told us he can make a full recovery in approximately 8 weeks do a total of $926 and 2 vet visits I would say dont waste your time or money at VCA North Country.
Ive had mixed experiences with this vet. Theyre really good with our dog in both the boarding side as well as the veterinarian side. However, there have been some problems with the front desk staff. For the most part theyre friendly, but theres one in particular who is very condescending towards me at every visit that I encounter her. Also, we had set up an appointment for our dog to get his flu vaccine as required by a boarding facility he was going to. Whilst making the appointment I verified multiple times that he would not be getting the bordatella but in fact the k9 influenza shot. When I arrived at the appointment, the lady who I mentioned above informed me that hed be getting the bordatella, and that they didnt carry the influenza. This was 3 DAYS before we were set to depart on our vacation. She couldnt care less and had no way to direct me to a vet who did offer it or even an apology for the miscommunication. It would have been nice to have known this whilst making the appointment, which is why I tried confirming multiple times on the phone that they carried it. We still attend this vet because they are great with our pet, but I always dread having to communicate with this particular lady due to the lack of common courtesy she gives us.
Very rude all they care about is money not the animals
Drove from Liverpool for emergency with my baby the vet was amazing
They take Great Care of my Dog Bear.
3 weeks ago we had an appointment with a technician to go over what was required for us moving overseas, she told us that the Dr. Could sign off on the USDA portion so we never made an appointment with USDA. Yesterday we had an appointment and the Dr. Asked us when our appointment with USDA was we stated what the technician said and the Dr. Told us well we should of read. So then we were in a scramble to get ahold of USDA which was in Albany and 4 hours away. We finally got ahold of them after 2 hours and were able to get an appointment if we sped the entire time. We got there 10 minutes late, thankfully still were able to be seen.I didnt have a good feeling about the vet in Watertown so we saw a military vet thats USDA approved this morning in Baltimore and behold the paperwork was wrong. Im glad North Country charged us 300$ for their mistake. Even the receptionist told us that she knew exactly the technician that told us that the Dr. Could sign off on that spot.
Could not believe how attentive they are. Great place
Very friendly and helpful vet office.
Rude workers only took my pet because she needed a vet
We took in our older dog who was a rescue to have her spayed, the vet had told us previously that she was already spayed but was wrong, they charged us extra for the dog having been in heat. Not currently, just in general, even though the vet was the one who said she was spayed. I havent gotten to see the rest of the bill yet but they charged us $190 on top of the cost of actually having her spayed.
Always good to my doggies here.
