Meg is great with our dogs. Weve been going there for over 20 years.
I love House of Dogs. I am so happy I found this place 2 plus years ago. My dogs come out looking, and smelling great. Over the summer I boarded my dogs here for a long weekend. I was so happy I did. My beagle always acts out when we return from a trip and this time he did not. Both dogs seemed to be happy and healthy. The prices are excellent, Grooming and boarding. I recommend house of dogs to every dog owner I know. Employees are very nice. All my questions are always answered.
I don’t recommend this place to anyone! It’s absolutely filthy and smells of dirty cat litter. This was our first time getting our dog groomed here, and we definitely will not be back. We arrived to pick our dog up approximately 15 minutes early and could hear our dog crying in the back. You can’t see what they are doing to your dog because the owner has a curtain up blocking off the back room. When she finally brought our dog out, he peed. The owner then gave my husband an attitude, saying that it was his fault for touching our dog before he had “calmed down”. We know our dog. That wasn’t the case. It is now three days later and my dog has not stopped licking himself. He has multiple bald spots where the owner clearly got two close to his skin with the clippers. They also failed to trim his nails. Poor cleanliness and poor grooming practices.
Great service and my dogs look great! I’ve have two small pups who are accustomed to grooming and after a bad experience at a local chain store, we have come here and never looked back. Always accommodating and willing to help with a last minute appointment.
I have had a very different experience at House of Dogs. The owner and groomer is always helpful and friendly, especially handling my one difficult dog, who has a history of abuse. All three of my small dogs are groomed there. In addition, I am a busy professional and often schedule grooming services at the last minute. However, I have never had a problem scheduling grooming services for my dogs even on short notice. Finally, I feel my dogs are well cared for when I drop them off. The groomer pays special attention to their needs such as nails, skin, and possible medical issues if she identifies a potential problem while grooming them. In addition to the exceptional service the pricing is very fair. I would recommend House of Dogs to any pet owner.
The only place Ill take my dogs for grooming is House of Dogs! As a dog professional myself, I am very picky on who grooms my dogs. Ive never been disappointed with the service or the care my dogs receive there! Not only do they look and smell great but they enjoy going back every time too!
This place deserves no stars, it’s trash! Went in for our first groom with them and immediately was feeling uneasy about leaving my dog with them. The place smells dirty as if it’s never seen a cleaning product since it opened, theres two huge cages full of cats with liter boxes the look like they haven’t been cleaned in a month, a loose cat jumped up on the counter while I was filing out my paper work which was unprofessional and unsanitary. The owner isn’t friendly or approachable. She speaks to you as if you’re stupid. Gives “advice” that had no relevance to my dogs service. I ignored my gut feeling of unease and left my dog with this woman only to be called back 20 minutes after I dropped my dog off to pick her up due to her assumption of “a bad case of cherry eye” (which my dog has never suffered from). Upon arrival, my dog was handed to me with a large hemorrhage taking up the entire eye to where she couldn’t even blink! The woman swore it “just appeared” and they didn’t do anything. I immediately took my dog to the vet to be told by both the vet and technician that we weren’t dealing with cherry eye, we were dealing with a hemorrhage injury that was due to, too pressure around the neck (basically strangulation). My poor dog had to be sedated and her eye dyed to make sure there was no retinal damage. Even though everything looked ok, we could still be “dealing with a long term injury if ulcers start appearing behind the eye due to the inflicted injury”. Because of their carelessness my dog is on THREE different medications. We call house of dogs back to let them know what our vet diagnosed the injury as and to let them know they would be receiving the bill. The owner decided that it was then appropriate to finally come clean and laugh off that “her son (a groomer for her company) held my 5lbs dog too tight because she wiggled too much while they tried to do her feet.” She told us to bring her the bill and she’d pay it. We did and she never bothered to apologize or even ask how our dog was doing! I strongly advise everyone to start looking elsewhere for grooming if you don’t want these people to hurt your fur babies then try to lie about it by passing off their negligence as a preexisting medical condition. Save your animals!!!!!
Ive been bringing my two Cocker Spaniels to House of Dogs for many years. They always come out looking great and the groomer seems to really love dogs, and more importantly, my dogs seem to really like and trust her. Highly Recommended.
I really dont know where to begin, but to start I wish there was an option to give zero stars, since this establishment doesnt deserve any.Brought my dog Pipsy in for her regular grooming appointment, and upon picking her up noticed visible markings, which prompted me to bring her to the vet. There the veterinarian commented on there being unsafe practices during the grooming procedure.Id strongly advise, if you love your animals, you do not bring them here for grooming. 👎🏻
I have followed the owner to 3 different locations over the years. I started with GreatDanes and now have Pit Bulls. She’s great with all of them. She never raises her prices and always welcome walk ins
Megan was super responsive and we got an appt within a couple of days. I also appreciate her efforts to keep everyone safe from COVID-19 with her procedures. Moe proved his cut and we will definitely be going back again but this time not waiting quite so long. ;) Support local. Buy local. Thanks again House of Dogs.
Wow. Glad I found the new location - they recently moved down the road on the same side. House of Dogs does a great job grooming my (sometimes testy) terrier, Scotty. So happy you have the new location. Looking forward to new inventory etc.
Great place. Have taken our little girl there several times and the transformation from scruffy to polished is amazing. Groomer is very friendly and seems very interested in knowing what you expect.
Botched my labradoodle. Totally botched. Literally looks like a greyhound. Shaved to the point u can see skin in some parts. My once shaggy adorable girl now looks like a carpet. We wanted a trim like the previous time. Neverrrr once asked her to be buzzed. Her belly has patches and she has razor burn. It is absolutely horrendous. NEVER TAKE YOUR DOG HERE!!!!!
Awesome place! My dog looks amazing after coming here. I tried to give my dog a haircut on my own (big mistake) but house of dogs did a really good job fixing what I did to her!
Horrible experience. These people have the worst attitudes on the planet and treat your dog like they’re expendable. It’s really unbelievable how they treat paying customers and their pets. People look elsewhere because this is not a good pet grooming establishment in the slightest! I don’t normally right reviews but for this I felt as though I needed to for all the pet owners out there.
The owner is a treasure - she has groomed my pets for years, and I find her work excellent, and her prices reasonable. Highly recommended!
Family locally owned businesses, great people, my dog Harry loves going there, he always looks great when he comes out, I’d like to tell all the local dog owners to try out the house of dogs, and keep a local in business, not all the big box stores
I agree with everything negative others have said about this place. FILTHY DISGUSTING and a terrible place to bring your dog. I encourage others to report them to the Town of Colonie Commercial building inspector....yuck. STAY AWAY!
Owner is very friendly and accommodating, my dog always comes out looking great, and theres always two friendly cats in the lobby to greet people.
Excellent serviceThis was my first appointmentStaff did an outstanding grooming
They are the best!!! I have only ever taken my dog to them and have allways been happy with the results.
Excellent care for our dogs for more than 17 years. We now travel more than 40 miles each way for grooming of even our most challenging dogs. We would not go anywhere else.
We have a skittish dog who’s really nervous around people and this place takes really really good care and treats him very well I’m going back every other week
Been going here for a few years since I lived in Latham. Always satisfied with service.
Great Service! My little Fluffball comes out looking amazing every Time!!!
Loved this place, my dog looked fabulous and loves to go here!!!
Amazing. Amazing. Amazing. I’ve been trying to find a place to bring my 3 yr old cat Charlie to have his nails clipped for a few weeks now and I’m so happy I stubbled upon this gem. Charlie sometimes gets scared around strangers who are trying to handle him and other animals. She made sure there were no other animals around and even let me hold him (which most places won’t let you do). Such a comfortable welcoming environment for my cat and myself. He did amazing for her. Took 30 seconds for all 4 paws. Amazing! House of Dogs will become our regular groomer now. She’s amazing with animals and knows her stuff. Excellent pricing, and service.. would highly highly recommend. Stubborn Cat and Cat mom approved.
Meg is amazing at what she does and treats every animal with care and respect. Definitely recommend!
