Good Choice Dog Training

Heres the revised review:5/5 stars! Alissa is absolutely fantastic! She makes each class fun and engaging, with a great sense of humor that keeps us laughing and learning. Weve seen significant improvement in our dogs behavior, and we couldnt be more grateful! Highly recommend!

Becky knows dogs! I adopted a dog (Jack Russell) whos a little more than I could handle. After only 2 lessons, we are making great headway. Becky has shared so much knowledge that I didnt know or think of that is really beneficial for me and Thumper.

My partner and I adopted our first dog and decided on Good Choice Dog Training for obedience training. What a good decision it was! Alissa and Barb were absolutely wonderful. They are really focused on encouraging your dog to make progress at their own pace, without fear. For people who are new to puppy parenting and need instructors who are patient and kind, I would 10/10 recommend. We also looked at PetSmart but what’s better than supporting local, small businesses?!

Becky is excellent- we just rescued a 4 yr old Aussiedoodle with some behavioral issues- w/in the hr I had picked up numerous tricks to try to keep him focused on me and my being able to work w/him.

I took Beckys Life Skills class with my 1yr golden retriever. She does a fantastic job managing the room and building up the teams so the dogs can work through distractions that are challenging but not overwhelming.The facility was clean and easy to get to and there was a large variety equipment available during the enrichment portion when we did star puppy class for our girl to explore. The one word of warming is that the room gets very hot during the warmer days (80+ degrees outside temps feel better than being inside). Overall though a great experience!

We are about to finish up a 6 week training with our puppy, and it has been a wonderful experience. There have been 2 trainers available for each class, which is very helpful so that everyone is able to get some time to talk to a trainer. They are nice, professional, and really care about how life with your puppy is outside of the training class. The price is very reasonable as well. I would absolutely recommend this place to someone in need of puppy training.

There is no better place in the Capital District to train your dog and have fun while doing it! ALL of the trainers at Good Choice are highly qualifed and teach you to train your dog with POSITIVE methods. The bond that this training creates for you and your dog is so special and lasting. I have a very high energy dog and all of the classes I have taken at Good Choice are helping me to shape her into the best dog ever.

Becky is amazing. She is kind, thoughtful and wonderful to work with. I have had two sessions so far and I am very pleased with the progress. My dog is very nervous and shut down for the first session, we still learned a lot on how to help him. For the second we were able to schedule an at home visit and it helped us to learn more strategies and how to support him.

I couldnt be happier with our experience at good choice training. Becky was amazing, knowledgeable, and really took the time to get to know my pup. As a new dog owner, she was available for any questions or advice I might have/need. I would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a well versed dog trainer. Thank you Becky!!

Becky was recommended to me by a friend and former trainer who knew the type of training I wanted for my pup Keith. We have been working with Becky now for about two years and I have been extremely pleased, not only with the training style, excellent advice, and honesty, but also with Becky’s knowledge and obvious desire to do what is best for Keith. We have participated in training classes with other dogs, taken agility and rally classes, and we have done some one-on-one training; all have been exceptional. It is obvious that Becky is passionate about helping dogs and their humans work together to strengthen their bonds to one another. I am very particular about who interacts with Keith and I could not have asked for a better person and trainer to work with. Keith absolutely adores her. We look forward to more classes and doing more agility training!

Becky is great! I feel so hopeful about training my dog now. She is the third trainer weve been to, and is heads and shoulders above the rest. Kind, patient and a good sense of humor! She really listened to our concerns and responded very professionally and effectively.

Becky is amazing! She has been working with me and my dog for the last several months. My pup tends to be pretty anxious and she has taught me several things that have helped and has helped come up with a plan for when I move shortly. She is warm and kind and Roni loves her!

I went to a puppy playdate at Good Choice Dog Training and unfortunately I found the experience very unprofessional. I had read good reviews about them prior to attending however I was very unimpressed with the instructors. To be fair, my 10 week old sheltie puppy was the smallest dog there and all the other pups were twice his size or bigger, but the instructors tossed a bunch of toys into the middle of the play pen and had us unleash our dogs to just see what happens. The dogs were not eased into the situation, the instructors didnt seem to organize us by our pups age or personality, and I found the situation very unprofessional and unsafe for all the puppies. Im not a dog trainer but I feel I have learned more from reading quality puppy training books and watching good material on YouTube than I ever would at this location.

Had our first lesson tonight with a recently adopted dog. Becky was great! She has a good training facility and a wealth of knowledge.

Becky, Alissa, and respected guest trainers at Good Choice are the very best! They are particularly good with the “wild child”, and pups with anxieties and other weirdnesses. Every thing, always, is positive training for you and your best friend.

Becky is the best. No choke or prong or electro-collar training, which is somehow difficult to find in the cap district. Extremely accommodating hours... Willing to work in one on one situation with animals!! wonderful personality!!

Even though we only went to one class thus far, they are very well organized and informative with teaching your dog the ways of people talk. My husband and I would highly recommend this place!

Ive been training with Becky at Good Choice for over a year. My large reactive dog has gotten much better since working with Becky. She is a great trainer, is generous with her time and uses positive training methods.

They do a great job training dogs and their owners is a supportive and effective way.

This is a good facility for the average pet person to use. The owner is nice enough, does support positive reinforcement only as her training method. The facility itself is nice, though theres only one way in and out so just be aware of that. The staff members that Ive interacted with have always been very nice and courteous.
