Such a cool place only ten minutes from downtown Albany! A short trail from parking lot along the creek to follow for a cool view or swimming for dogs (or humans). Halfway through is a large fenced in dog park, little shade structure with picnic table and open grassy and woodshed area. Next to a community garden. Would love to come back again next time in the area. My dog had a blast :)
I recently visited the dog park for the second time, and it was a pleasant experience overall. The park is a popular spot on weekends, so expect a lively atmosphere with lots of happy dogs and their owners. The park features a nice pavilion, which is great for some shade, but it lacks trees for the dogs to play around or rest under. There are dog bags and water available, which is convenient, though it would be nice to have a few more amenities. One of the highlights is the nearby stream where dogs can swim. It’s a fantastic addition, especially for those with water-loving pups. The park itself is divided into half grass and half dirt, offering a bit of variety in terrain.A heads-up for first-time visitors: the main parking lot is about half a mile away. To save some hassle, keep driving and you’ll find parking closer to the park and the community garden.Overall, its a good space for dogs to run and play, but a few more improvements like trees and better parking would make it even better.
This was a lovely walk and you can even do most of it if you are in a wheelchair or use other aids.
Always an awesome experience! All the regulars have such well behaved socialized dogs. Absolutely the best park with a scenic trail worth the hike! 🐾
A great place to go. My puppy love this trail. She finally start to play in the water. A good beginning!
Peaceful and calm trail for walk with/without your dog. Sounds of the river clean your mind.
There are plenty of dogs there, most people dont mind the leash or lack of, as long as your dog is friendly, of course. The trail goes along the creek, and into a little woodsy area with shade. Bug spray is obvious, they werent bad when I went a week ago. Water is good for swimming just find the little paths to the water created by dogs and people walking. You can enter by the vet office near the bridge on Delaware Ave, and go park there before the sign for the dog park. The dog park is a bit down. Some drive down. A good time for dog and person.
It was really nice time and awesome place for our fur baby to enjoy during this hot summer!
The dog park was great huge area for the dog to run around in, there was no poop bags so make sure to bring some.Watch out because other people didnt clean up after there dogs. Finding it was impossible and Google suggested driving my car into the river to get there. But if you turn down the road right before the self storage it takes you right down to it. Will definitely go again for the hiking trails .
Ticks galore and so many people let their dogs wander unleashed. The community farm/garden is really nice. Huge enclosed dog park. The main walking area is a huge grassy hill that you can walk as a big loop.
Beautiful Park surrounded by Farms next to the normanskill river. Sometimes the dog park needs a mowing desperately. This is really just a big fenced-in open space for your dog to run around. There arent any obstacles or things like that. They do have a dispenser for dog bags but sometimes there are still piles of poop. But generally people clean up after their dogs. Dont go here after it rains because there is a muddy patch near the entrance. Overall we love taking our dog here and she loves coming to chase her Frisbee and sniff around at the other dogs. Its also fun to see the cows and sheep on the hillside. There is also a nice trail that you can take your dog walking through as long as they are on their leash. Very beautiful and Scenic. We have also fished in the river nearby.
By far my favorite dog park in the Albany area. Fairly large enclosed dog run with a picnic table and tiny pavilion. Always attracts a great mix of dog owners. There are also a lot of nice walking trails around the dog park which are great for the two legged folks.
Off the beaten path and very large area. I would recommend bringing poop bags and water for your dog. We have a large dog and this was a great place for him to run. You can drive all the way back and park next to the dog park and save yourself a LONG walk!
On top of inconvenient access, the dog park area of the property is positioned at the bottom of a long hill, so its essentially just a catch basin with no drainage, even though the kill is maybe a little over 100 yards away. Right now, mid-February, its a mix of sheet ice, slushy areas, standing frigid water, and muddy grass. With the lack of drainage, I cant imagine the wet conditions are any better in the warmer months. Ill likely never bring her back there.
So.eplace to swim, someplace to walk and someplace to run and play. Not too crowded, was good as first time at a park for my dog.
Pretty large fenced in area, nice walk on a trail which has rocky paths to walk down to the river, shallow river great for the dogs! . no running water in the park for the dogs to drink, bring your own.
Good size some shade easy parking close to area.carry your own water.
Very beautiful most relaxing most people out here to the rules and keep the animals at least one occasion you have someone who takes the animal off leash but if any situations breakout they usually get resolved very quickly and hes just a nice little seeing you know to see the water and stuff very relaxing
Nice large fenced area for dogs to run and play. Small shaded area with picnic table for owners to relax. Close to Normans kill where the dogs can swim. Would definitely come back.
Great dog park, very interesting people and lots of gorgeous (mainly) well behaved dogs, plus we love hiking the trails and playing in the water!!
Great little dog park for people in the neighborhood would love to walk down the old yellow brick road. its always quiet and almost all the people that come are at least as well behaved as their dogs
Great place to take your dog, go for a walk or see Llamas!
Nice place to take your dog. Its a bit busy on Sunday mornings. Nice trails around too for walks.
Poor signage and, if you actually obey the posted rules, you have to walk a long distance to get there. Was littered with dog poop that owners hadnt cleaned up.
Great trail along the river and a fenced in area for dogs to play. My dogs love it!
Good swimming areas, nice trail, people are always friendly.
The pot holes really need to be filled in at this park. Definitely does not feel safe to drive through.
I LOVE this place! I get over there as often as I can. Friendly people. And I dont even have a dog!
No effective way to get water for dogs on a hot day. Some shelter, which was nice.
Favorite dog park in the area! Drive straight through to the back for the fenced in area, ignore the no cars sign. Everyone drives back!
Great place to take your dog and let it off leash. So much open space
I really loved the park, and seeing the tulips as they bloom. It is a very pet friendly park.
Nice dog park nice area great area to bring your dogs to play
Our dogs had so much fun running in the grass
Rusty immensely enjoyed todays visit to the Normanskill Farm Dog Park. We met some friendly dogs and people.
Great for dogs! A beautiful place, and the largest open area in the city of Albany!
This is my favorite dog park but there is no running water and the bag dispenser is usually empty.
This is my favorite park, large open area around the park for walking, people are very friendly.
This place is amazing! Our dogs LOVE it! Highly recommend!
Careful inside the fenced area
Come enjoy a caged dog park next to the Normanskill river. You need to bring water for your dog and your own toys. It is a great place for dog training in the fenced area past the main parking area. Drive all the way back past the building to the garden and dog park. You can also practice going off leash on a nice hike up the hill and around a short loop. If it is dark or winter you can even hike all the way to the golf course.
Absolutely my favorite dog park 🏞️
Nice dog park, maintained pretty well
Great spot - make sure you drive past where it says to park or you will have to walk about 1/2 mile. No water, so make sure you bring some. Clean, with responsible dogs owners so far.
Right near my community garden. LOVE making friends with the pups.
Friendly place to exercise the dog and meet other owners. My dog loved the freedom to run and just feel is puppishself.
Peaceful place to hike and let the dogs roam free.
Very peaceful the dogs love it
Beautiful park a little off the beaten path
Friendly dogs and people, but needs more shade
Has a stream next to it for the dogs to play in
