McCarren Park Dog Run

Oh McCarran dog park, how well we knew the, I brought my little Poodle here and he showed Who his boss, him. On our day of dog walk/dog runs. This is one of the best.

Nice park for lots of different activities. A lot of areas to sit and chill, and there is a restaurant there too! Love watching the people, animals and plants :)

The play area is very spacious. My pup definitely loves it! But there is no water fountain, trash bin, or designated seating areas for humans. Close to farmers market and restaurants. Will definitely come back.

Dirty and extremely dusty, not well maintained, no water at all for the pups or to wash up, no proper benches for owners (only some unwanted pieces of chairs here and there), leftover dirty tennis balls, the doors felt rusty etc. Sad that this was the case for a one that is close to all the park facilities that were a lot more well maintained.

I really like to come to that park, one of the biggest i have to say. A lot of space for dogs to run and play. The dog run is in the park, and if you come before 9am, you can let them go free, its cool. Now they putted some hay on the ground and it looks good and not muddy. Always coming there.

Gets muddy and or dusty. Needs more mulch. The humans and dogs are awesome.

Love this park. Very friendly dogs of all sizes and responsible parents and friendly as well.

Very nice dog park, lots of dogs come here so your dog will never be alone. There are dog tennis balls that you can use to play with your Dog. Poop bags are here sometime too .

What a disgrace of a park. Love your dog a little more and don’t bring him/her here. You would imagine that with the amount of tax dollars this part of the city pays we would get something more decent. Once again the authorities shine by their absence.

Nice sized and popular dog run, and still using dirt/mulch which the dogs seem to prefer over the rock surface used at the Kent dog park. Nice shade and good amount of seating and mostly well behaved dogs. Could be mulched more often but nothing is perfect.

Doesn’t have a separate area for smaller dogs :/

This is a nice park for small dogs and they all (6) did get along together. It does seem to get muddy right in the center though after every rainfall. Often I have seen wood chips laid out but it is only a quick fix.... it never lasts. Perhaps if the dirt was mixed with some clay it would make a harder ground cover.

Is this a joke? Actual filthy dirt on the ground. Only to go home and have to bathe your dog. This park is disgusting and needs to be updated, especially with so many dogs in the Williamsburg and Greenpoint neighborhood

My favorite dog park in Brooklyn. Its just the right size for owners to be aware what the dogs are up to but also big enough for them to get a good run in. There is an area for smaller dogs and then there is an area for larger or medium sized dogs which makes a lot of sense. Especially on the weekends it gets a bit more crowded but youll always find a good crowd of dogs there whenever you go. Enjoy! Your NYC apartment dog needs that run!

I have lived here for 40 yrs. We had dogs. I can tell you that 10 yrs ago I already knew there were issues with the dog run. You cant just keep throwing new mulch on old. Diseases spread. The dog run needs a concrete pad that can be sanitized .

Not a huge fan of this dog park. Lots of poop everywhere and people have super rowdy dogs that they dont know how to control. Its just a bunch of dirt so your dog gets FILTHY. There are too many toys everywhere which can be annoying- I bring my dog to socialize with other dogs, but if there are toys thats all she cares about. Maybe thats more of a personal issue, but I really prefer no toys because theyre just covered in mud anyway. So yeah.. not a huge fan of this place.

The dogs are great here, but this park is terrible even by NY’s low standards. This is McCarren park ffs there’s hundreds of millions of dollars of property surrounding it and all they have is a dog park with no water and filled with dirt that gets all in your eyes and mouth so you have to wear goggles and a face mask just so you can breath. It’s embarrassing really. I have no idea why this place has such high ratings. Hope they’ll make some improvements.

I live right next to this dog park in 101 Bedford Ave. My life would not be the same if I did not have this dog park to take my dog to. About 50 yards of running space for him and always other dogs in there. He loves it!

Good sized god run. They also have a separate run for smaller size dogs. Dont wear nice clothes because the ground is mostly dirt and the run can get dusty.

Dog park two parts one for small dogs and other side gated for big dogs

My puppy Constitution absolutely LOVES McCarren Dog Park! He is finally all vaccinated and just had his first experience there earlier this week! I will be bringing him again tomorrow since I’m moving down the block in April! 🐶🐾💕🥹

It was nice to have a space for my pup to run around, the small park was not great so we went to the big dog side where there was more space

The park is AMAZING, but the dog run is muddy. Lots of dogs, two dog areas, one for small breeds, one for large dogs. Great neighborhood, friendly dogs and their owners.

Super dirty and not well maintained, and the dogs can be very aggressive. Its also a very small dog park (both the large and small dog run), but it does the job.

Could I give this park less than 1 star? The people that come let their dogs run stare at their phones while their dogs hump and crap without owners giving a care. Dont know if its because they dont care about their dogs or the neighborhood.

This park is rundown and dirt only. Its so dusty your dog will be filthy after running around. Super disappointing. Wont be back.

I mean it’s usually a giant mud pit and some dogs aren’t being actively watched by their parents. I prefer the off leash spaces.

Theres a small dog run and a large dog run. The large one is rather boring, but has tons of seats for everyone. Can get really packed though.

The people in the area definitely make the dog park worth being at. A lot of friendly dog of all sizes.

Fave dog park. They almost always have someone around to refill the water, and there’s an area for small dogs which is nice when things get rowdy in the big dog area.

This park should be the advertisement for why we need to properly fund the NYC parks dept.

Nothing but to add here but an ice cream parlor. Good supplies of dog bags and clean dirt / sand for the pups to walk on.

Place deserves credit for being community/ volunteer run. Dirt surface so is often muddy.

Pretty empty on the weekdays. Lots of space for dogs to run and play. On the weekends, especially in the morning. It gets pretty crowded. Probably over 50 dogs in the dog park. There is a separate small dog area and a big dog area. Lots of benches to sit on.

My dog and I LOVE McCarren Park Dog Run! We try to go every weekend at least. The tanbark chips are always renewed and theres oftentimes a jug of water to feed all of the dogs there. Most of the dog parents are on top of their dogs in the case it gets too rowdy also. Altogether great dog run with great people managing it and great people visiting.

What a great place to run! Seriously even if I had no dog, I still would go to this park to get a few laps before work. I’m actually writing this very review from the park. By myself. At 3AM. What a great place.

My dog loves this place. I wish we would have more of those in Brooklyn. It’s amazing to have the opportunity to get our dog exercising and running freely. Thank you so much for this great Dog Run and I hope we will have one in South Williamsburg sooner than later!!!
