Twahlees been amazing! We rescued our dog and hed initially lunge and bark at nearly every dog on the street. He didnt know basic commands. After attending many private and group training sessions, along with tens of hours of training from Twahlees guidance, he now walks in a perfect heel, is off-leashed trained so he can run free at parks and on hikes with perfect recall, and is obedient enough to bring into shops and eat outside at restaurants. Would highly recommend Twahlees training for any type of dog.

We first contacted Twahlee when we got an 9 week old Doberman puppy and immediately realized we needed a professional to help us :) My partner and I had numerous dogs before but after our first lesson with Twahlee, it was clear that there was a whole world of learning to communicate with your dog that really isnt clear when you look up dog training videos on YouTube.Twahlee helped us to learn a balanced training method to raise a well-socialized and confident puppy who at 6 months old, will remain in a down stay in a busy coffee shop. Weve already started off-leash training and most importantly, are fostering engagement with the puppy even in high-distraction environments. The foundation of his training ideology is that training should be fun and a high dopamine state encourages faster and more positive learning in the dog.It is with much appreciation to Twahlee, that we as owners are more confident in our abilities to continue training and loving our puppy. His training packages are pricey but competitive within the area and you really do have full access outside of training classes. More than anything, sometimes you really do need a professional to look at the problems you have and say that theyre manageable and start the process of learning to fix them. The self-confidence and the bond that results with your dog, really is worth it.

Absolutely incredible training. We got the five-session package to help our mini poodle with some leash walking and obedience issues. Twahlee changed our entire outlook on dog training immediately. And we noticed right away how our dog started respecting us around the house and outside. Through structure and discipline, our dog gained confidence and really started enjoying his time with us. The group classes are super helpful as well - really helps our dog with reactivity and self-control. Now, we can even confidently walk him off-leash. The change in his maturity really is incredible. And you can immediately see how much our dog loves Twahlee. Every session, our dog just tried to impress him and had a lot fun learning new things and becoming independent. We cannot thank Twahlee enough for his patient guidance throughout this process.

If you have dog problems - Twahlee is your guy!I was at my wits end with my adopted chow chow, Taz. He was friendly to everyone when we first brought him home, but within a month or so he became aggressive and bit 8 people without being provoked. I hired 2 different trainers, both of which were bitten by Taz and recommended getting a sedative/relaxant prescription from the vet in order to train him. I couldnt get his attention and he was all over the place on walks, doing whatever he pleased. I was distressed at the thought of not being able to train him and having to send him back to the shelter. Then we started working with Twahlee and we finally saw changes in Tazs behavior. He is a great teacher, very patient and breaks down all the intricacies of dog training into small and manageable steps for the everyday person. Anytime we had a new issue, he always was able to give us a reason why it was happening and specific steps we could take to fix it. He has a great understanding of behavioral problems with dogs and a good system to change and manage those problems.Im proud to say after a year and 10 classes training with Twahlee, Taz is now a good little boy! Hes able to be off leash in the park, he can walk near people and other dogs without reacting, and he has excellent obedience. The training really changed mine and Tazs life - it could have ended very differently for Taz if we didnt get help from Twahlee.

It was so much fun to work with Twahlee on our first puppy Takito. As a new dog owner, we knew nothing about how to train or communicate with a dog, Twahlee teaches us step by step and patiently answered all our concerns and questions. We purchased their silver package, 5 group classes and 5 private classes. As long as we like our private session just focusing on Takito, the group class was so much fun! Dogs learn behavior from each other. They also organized a dog Halloween party, making it even more interesting. ( and Takito won first prize!)We strongly recommend Twahlee and his Metro Dog Training! As he told us, dogs in all stages are trainable, not only a puppy, we are thinking of going back to class when Takito reaches certain age to reinforce his behavior.

My dog, Juno, was very reactive to kids, scooters, other dogs...to a point where it was becoming very complicated to walk her. After a few weeks of house boarding, she came back much calmer and easier to walk. We can now truly enjoy our relationship with Juno, thanks to Metro Dog Training.

Our experience with Kris was terrific, and we highly recommend Metro Dog Training to anyone who wants to improve their communication with their dog. We started working with Kris when our Shih Tzu was a year old.At that time, our dog was generally well-mannered, but walks were a challenge. They were slow, and we couldn’t get our dog to walk on a loose leash. Kris quickly helped us get that sorted out, and now our walks are enjoyable. In addition to loose leash walking, we learned how to teach more complex behaviors and get our pup to listen in new and distracting environments reliably. The tools, knowledge, and structure we’ve learned have helped us raise our dream dog. Weve unlocked a level of communication that we didnt know was possible. We recently started joining the group classes, and they’ve been so much fun. Theyve helped us develop more exciting training routines. And its been an incredibly safe environment to socialize our pup.

Twahlee at Metro Dog Training is an incredible dog trainer, I couldn’t recommend him more highly. We had a new pup and Twahlee helped set us up for success raising our little guy. We trained in real world scenarios (like at the park), giving us extra comfort knowing how to manage a stubborn and excited dog among lots of distraction. His training was very actionable, and it allowed us to practice on our own everyday and make strides in between our lessons. Immense gratitude!

Best money we ever spent! Twahlee helped us with our 3 year old dog Roxy, who is a bit reactive and is very independent. He helped us lean into what drives her and fool proofed it. Cannot recommend him enough. he is so passionate and loves what he does, and wants us to have fun with our dogs!!! I cried our last session bc I am so relieved and excited for Roxy to enjoy her life now bc we figured out ways for her too! 100000/10!!!

This training has done wonders for my reactive rescue pitbull! I cant speak highly enough about Twahlee and his extensive knowledge on dog behavior. Living in a city with many other dogs and daily distractions was very difficult for me to navigate. The structure taught through our one on one sessions and working at the training facility in the group classes was a real game changer for us.

My rescue dog started out with low levels of comfort and trust with new people, and had poor obedience. Working with Twahlee, she has become much more confident, happy, and obedient. She is much less fearful and is even playful with new people. The drills Twahlee has taught me have made a night and day difference for my dog and I and has brought us closer together as dog and owner. Twahlee really understands what dogs and their owners need to form a consistent, respect-driven relationship. I would highly recommend Twahlee as a trainer.

We trained in both a private and group setting with Twahlee. Our dog is just over 1 year old and while good natured, he had a lot of excitement to manage and needed to improve his leash behavior. We saw huge improvements in both our dogs behavior as well as our understanding of our role as owners. The private lessons were tailored to our goals & focus areas, and the group classes were a refresher in general practices and behavior with lots of distractions.Twahlee clearly cares a lot and puts a lot of heart into his work!

Our neighbor recommended Twahlee to us. We had adopted a sweet, but rambunctious 10 month, 60lbs pup who needed to improve his city-living etiquette. We wanted to work on his impulsivity, loose leash walking, recall, and redirecting his focus on us on command. We were worried there were too many things we wanted to tackle, but in just 2 months of private and group classes with Twahlee, our dog went from spending an entire walk pulling and trying to play with every dog to near-perfect heel and recall! It was pretty unbelievable. Twahlee’s methods really resonated with our dog — he was engaged, driven and you could see him light up as things clicked and we progressed harder. The training is just as much for the owners as it is for the dogs — Twahlee was quick to correct us if we weren’t consistent with our interactions and pointed out details we wouldn’t have noticed. The experience made us more perceptive owners and our dog is so much happier and confident since he doesn’t spend his walks frustrated fighting against us and instead trusts that we give him the freedom to play and explore when it’s appropriate.

My neighbors recommended Metro Dog Training, and I’m so glad that we found Kris! I adopted Ash a little over a year ago and have struggled with his strong reactivity to other dogs for most of that time, until we started sessions with Kris at the end of December. After months of every walk being a stressful undertaking, Ash has improved so much thanks to the training tools Kris has recommended. More importantly, she has always been available via text and video chat to help us through any issues between private sessions, and she’s been both attentive and patient with our progress through a cold winter. We’ve just started going to Kris’ group sessions in McCarren Park, and likewise those are helping us both gain confidence being around other dogs. I’m incredibly grateful for Kris’ help, and so is Ash! Now that we can spend time in Prospect Park and go on longer walks, I can tell he’s a much happier boy.

I made the mistake of buying 8 classes up front with Twahlee / Metro Dog Training. Based on all the positive reviews I know that Twahlee is likely a great trainer for a lot of people. Like with dating though, I don’t think every trainer is perfect for every dog parent - you have to find the right match. It has nothing to do with Twahlee’s capabilities as a trainer but he and I just weren’t on the same page / communicating well and so I asked Twahlee for a refund for the 4 unused remaining private lessons I had with him, offering to pay the higher amount per lesson as if I had only originally booked 4 private lessons. He got defensive, made up an arbitrary rule about the fact that since we had already started training he wouldn’t be able to refund me, and saying that I would be happier if I came to more group classes and was more consistent with training, which only went to reinforce my point that we weren’t communicating well / he wasn’t listening to me because I never told him I was unhappy with my dog’s training, just that I didn’t think he and I were clicking and that I just didn’t want to continue training together. I imagine he will respond to this defensively as well stating that I didn’t give the training enough chance. Again, I wouldn’t deny any of that, but at a certain point as a business that should pride itself on client satisfaction and generally just being decent on a human to human level, while in no way obligated to, if someone is telling you they are unhappy and want a refund for unused services it may just make sense to respect their wishes. It’s frustrating when people think they know what’s better for you more so than what you are telling them is what is right for you. With all that said, it’s definitely his prerogative whether he wants to refund me the $800 or not but would just advise anyone contemplating working with him to try a single session or a group session first before shelling out $2K.

We started working with Twahlee a month after adopting Finn, who is a rambunctious 70lb 1 year old. Twahlee’s training system is highly effective because he’s able to tap into a dog’s motivation to work! Twahlee has great energy when working with all dogs, and he’s taught us how to communicate and set clear boundaries with Finn.9 months later after private sessions and many group trainings, Finn’s a different dog. He can walk nicely past dogs without reacting (he used to be a frustrated greeter), he can do a down stay and settle in busy environments, and has no separation anxiety when we leave him alone at home. We’ve also trained him on the e-collar, so he can now be off-leash and have freedom at hikes and open spaces.Twahlee gave us all the tools and guidance to manage and train our dog. It’s so worth it to put in the investment.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND METRO DOG. Metro Dog’s training methods were abusive to my 1 year old mini Australian Shepherd, Ozzie. Metro Dog would choke out my dog on the slip lead to the point of him throwing up. It broke my heart seeing my dog hanging from the slip, eyes bulging out, but I trusted the process thinking this was the only way to see results (which never came.)Ozzie is reactive to dogs out of fear, frustration and high anxiety. Metro Dog tried to fix him by hurting him and scaring him so he would stop reacting. They do not know how to properly use the training tools, slip, prong, and e-collar. They used the e-collar so high that my dog would flinch to the ground. Ozzie was terrified of Twahlee. He would shake and pee himself when Twahlee took the leash. Ozzie has never acted this way with anyone else.• They could not help us with separation anxiety. They said to use the e-collar on Ozzie, which made him more fearful.• Twahlee and Kris gave me conflicting training advice that regressed Ozzie’s training.• Kris was 15-30 minutes late for private training sessions.• Twahlee was difficult to work with. He has a one size fits all dog training approach. When pointing out that his style is negatively impacting my dog, he was demeaning, dismissive, and blamed me instead of giving me proper guidance.• They know nothing about behavior modification training, which is needed to see long term positive changes in dog’s behavior issues. They focused on correcting (abusing) the dog until they stop reacting since they are terrified.I wasted too much money hoping Metro Dog could help me. They only made things worse. Please find a proper dog training.EDIT: In response to Twahlee - I had already successfully introduced Ozzie to my boyfriends dog and roommates dog prior to starting training with Metro Dog.Twahlee attended my last private session, upon my request to introduce Ozzie to more well behaved dogs in a controlled setting. It was unsuccessful for long term progress because Ozzie was already terrified of Twahlee. He was too scared to even sniff the dog. He avoided the dog because he did not want to be hurt by Twahlee again. It is disappointing that as a dog trainer, Twahlee is unable to tell the difference between a shut down dog and a well behaved happy dog.

It was an absolute pleasure working with Twahlee and weve seen a tremendous improvement in our 1.5 year old hound mix, Lily. Prior to training Lily had a hard time listening, always distracted by other dogs and tantalizing scents. The consistent training methods definitely helped, she is much more engaged and listens quite well now. We’ve seen progress with all commands, sit, laydown, heel, and most importantly, the recall command. The group classes were a great compliment to the 1:1 sessions. It was very valuable having a safe environment with other dogs/ distractions to practice her new skills and with professional help. I’d highly recommend Twahlee and Metro Dog Training.

I went to Twahlee with Dorothy, a hound dog who never saw a squirrel she didn’t want to chase. I took her to offleash hours and she gave me quite a few scares running towards traffic and ignoring my calls. After a few rigorous training sessions with Twahlee her recall was nearly perfect, and after six sessions it was perfect. I’m always complimented on what a well-trained dog I have, and it’s thanks to Twahlee. Dorothy is also overjoyed every time we bump into him in the neighborhood.

Metro dog training is AMAZING and has be such a game changer for our dog Ruby! We rescued Ruby early on in the pandemic and she had SO much energy, terrible recall- would take off full speed the limited times we let her off leash and was unmanageable on walks- extreme pulling to the point where my fiance and I dreaded long walks with her. We used to avoid walking by our neighborhood park because Ruby was almost impossible to control around all of the squirrels and dogs at the dog park. Within minutes of our first private session with Kris, she had Ruby prancing around like a show dog...our jaws dropped and instantly filled us with hope. We just had our 6th private session with Kris and Ruby was training off leash at our neighborhood park!! We cant recommend Kris enough- we love working with her. She puts us at ease during our sessions and Ruby responds so well to her! Kris is really knowledgeable, offers realistic training advice and always follows up with links to training supplies and resources mentioned during sessions. The group classes are also such a great bonus to get with their packages! Training in high distraction areas around 10+ other dogs has been so beneficial and really put Rubys training to the test. We are so impressed with Metro dog training and cant wait to see her progress even more as we finish the remainder of our private sessions and group classes! Highly recommend training with Metro!!

Kris guided me and my lab, Buchi, from the first month I got him. She was patient, clear, and upfront with all the training. I appreciated her willingness to be upfront and show me what I would do wrong, how to fix, and importantly to understand how to instill specific behaviors. She was always punctual and willing catered to my convenience. Through my 10 one on one lessons I can say I built a solid foundation for training my boy. He isn’t perfect, but to have learned from her guidance has helped me truly set strong principles in how I raise my now 1 year old pup. She even took him herself as I relocated and helped me set expectations and prepared for his move to Hong Kong. We are now out of NYC, but I still practice the methods I got from Metro. Wish we could get back to NYC for more- definitely will if we move back home! Highly recommend this team if you’re looking for “obtainable/solid foundation” training, they don’t baby your dog, but teach you how to get the best out of them through mutual respect.

Were in the middle of our Gold package with Metro Dog Training and the results are beyond what we expected. Our dog is difficult: hes big (a boxer mixed with something much bigger), high energy, pulls a lot and has high leash aggression towards dogs and some humans. Contacting Metro Dog Training was our last resort before deciding we couldnt handle him anymore - hes too much of a liability in a city like New York. After 5 individual lessons and a group lesson hes able to heel, walk by another dog without trying to kill it, lay down peacefully in front of a busy dog park, and our 10-year old daughter was able to walk him for the first time since we got him 4 years ago. For me the epiphany was the group lesson - I never thought hed be able to do it without hurting another dog, I was terrified! Relief does not even start to explain what we feel. Theres still work to do but were confident that not only well keep him but we will finally enjoy him fully.

We used Twahlee for our rescue pitbull mix Tali. Tali wouldn’t walk on a leash and was terrified of being outside. When we could get her on a leash she was reactive to every dog we encountered. Without Twahlee we would have likely had to give Tali up - couldn’t be more appreciative of what he did.

Words can’t fully express how grateful we are for Twahlee at Metro Dog Training! Our 4-year-old Goldendoodle, Benito, recently moved up to NYC from Miami and just returned from his 4-week Board and Train program as a truly “leveled-up” dog! In just one month, Twahlee worked wonders—reinforcing Benito’s obedience, eliminating his reactivity around other dogs, mastering off-leash walking, and so much more. His hands-on, thoughtful approach, combined with his genuine care for the dogs he trains, really sets him apart. We’re excited to continue building on everything Benito learned at home. If you’re looking for a dedicated, knowledgeable, and compassionate trainer, Twahlee is the one you need. We couldn’t recommend him more—10/10!!
