Let me just start off by saying I am BEYOND LIVID & if I could rate 0 stars I would. LOOK AT MY BABY!! 😭 I took my dog here to get a grooming on 6/10/2024. Prior to the grooming I was told that my dog had less mats than the previous time which I was happy about because I expected the grooming would go much smoother. The first pic is my dog’s first grooming EVER at Bark Slope which I was so pleased with which is why I brought him back a second time. He is a 1 year & 4 month old miniature poodle and I was told by the staff that being that “he is transitioning between his baby fur and adult fur his fur becomes very matted & had to be cut all the way down.” They also explained this was “normal” Which I thought was an awful excuse for what was done to him! My dog looks unrecognizable! To top it off I was told there would be an up charge for “de-matting” my dog which I was not told was the case prior to the appointment. Instead of paying $132 which I paid the first time I was forced to pay $169.29 for this awful groom! I was not compensated AT ALL after I explained to the staff how unpleased I was with this outcome! I felt like I was given terrible excuses for how my dog came out and there was absolutely no remorse for how I felt this is truly the most terrible experience I think I could’ve experienced and I will definitely be taking my services elsewhere. This was truly unbelievable and unacceptable!!!
Brought my puppy to get his first grooming session! Wynter was very informative and she did a great job! Im able to see my puppy’s face now
Update 8/30/24Wynter groomed my Neville again as he was the ring bearer and best man at my wedding. Photo attached. He looked incredible!!!! Thanks again! If I could give Bark Slope ten stars I would- So here’s the other five !!! ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️!My normal groomer cancelled our appt very last minute and my dog needed a groom for a special event. I had no idea where to bring him on such short notice.BARK SLOPE SAVED THE DAY!!!!!!They were able to squeeze me in very short notice, (the next morning) and WINTER did an amazing job grooming my pup and getting his purple Mohawk just right. He looks photo shoot ready! She not only did the best job he’s ever had with a groom, when she returned him to me, he was even a friendlier dog than he was when I dropped him off!!!!!!! 😂My dog, who doesn’t allow me to pick him up, jumped right into my arms!!!! And he was happy!!!!I’m so thankful to you WINTER. You’re an amazing groomer. So professional and polite and courteous and understanding. My dog also has epilepsy and knowing he was being groomed by a former vet tech, really set me at ease.Winter will now be Neville’s Official groomer. I won’t go anywhere else. We went out for ice cream afterwards and he’s now passed out from such an exciting day.(This place is worth every single penny!!!!! Trust me guys)
The first time I brought my dog here was for a walk-in nail trim. It was very quick and efficient. I was pleased enough to book a grooming appointment, wanting to support a new local business. However, I will not be getting my dog groomed here again. The appointment was supposed to start at 9am and when I arrived the front desk informed me the groomer was on their way in. I then sat on their tiny bench for 30 minutes, without any updates, waiting for the groomer to arrive. When she finally walked up to me, she did not even say hello nor did she even apologize for being so late. I told her what I wanted for the haircut and she just stood their in silence and did not ask me any further questions to understand exactly what I was asking for. I felt very uneasy leaving my dog with this person. When I came to pick her up, she was not shaved as much as I usually get which means Ill have to get her groomed even sooner. And all that for the MOST EXPENSIVE groom I have ever paid for. There are much friendly and better grooming salons in the area for at least $50 cheaper than what this salon is charging.Ultimately, I am leaving two stars instead of one because the overall haircut and nail trim turned out okay. But the experience, service and price is outrageous.
Can’t say enough good things about Bark Slope.I have a toy schnauzer with a complex cut. She comes out looking like she was at a photo shoot. I get SO MANY COMPLIMENTS on her cut. My dog actually enjoys being there (at 6 months old!) and gives the staff kisses. The cut is so good that even 8 weeks later she’s still getting compliments! I will not take her anywhere else.
We took our puppy there and we had a great experience. Her hair cut was really and trendy, and she seemed comfortable. We like the service at this place, already booked our next grooming session.
We had our corgis nails done and the ladies are amazing. Finn can be a bit dramatic, in true corgi fashion, so we were worried they wouldnt be able to handle him unsedated, but they did and he looks amazing.A fantastic experience (even if Finn sang the songs of his people the ENTIRE time) and we will definitely be bringing Finn back!
I get my cats nails trimmed here; theyre fast and efficient and very kind. I can only do a whee bit of mail maintenance myself, when its time for a real trim on all four paws, I trust Bark Slope. (Meow!)
We love Bark Slope, both the walking and the grooming, for our 50 lb goldendoodle. He loves his walkers, and we love when we combine a walk and a groom for the most convenient way to maintain a clean, fluffy, happy dog. The walk report card photos make my day, and Archie practically drags us to the shop/salon whenever he realizes he’s heading there.
Bark Slope is an awesome pet store. One of the best I have shopped. The store is customer friendly in that it is extremely organized for their customers to shop easily. Their customer’s service is phenomenal. The store’s selection of dog food and other items are the best I have seen in any other stores. I highly recommend this pet store to all pet lovers!
We brought both our dogs here and had horrible experiences with both. First, my 13 year old dog came back and was in pain for two days. He would yelp every time we pet him on his side. We wrote to Bark Slope and they brushed the whole thing off by saying that maybe he had been injured before he arrived. That didnt sit right with me, but I decided to give them another chance because hes pretty old and maybe he wouldnt do well with any groomer.Well, shame on me. I brought my other young dog in to see them. I had a bunch of email exchanges with them beforehand detailing exactly how I wanted her cut and even sent a link to a video showing what I wanted. They assured me theyd pass it along to the groomer (they did not). I also made it clear that since she was a double coated dog, the only cutting should be for the feathering on her haunches and underside. Not only did they shave her back legs and haunches, they did a piss poor job and one side doesnt match the other. When I wrote to them about all this, they called me back and told me everything Id read about double coated dogs was wrong, and they did everything the way they should have. When I contacted them, all I wanted was some kind of acknowledgment that it didn’t go as well as it could have, so we could figure out a path forward. Unfortunately all my concerns were just invalidated and shut down. Its really unfortunate - I was so hoping to work with them since theyre close to my house. I would have been a loyal customer for years to come. I shouldve listened to my gut and found someone else after the first incident. Do yourself a favor and run in the other direction. The proximity is not worth the poor customer service and shoddy work.
Great spot to wash your doggo on your own! Definitely the best spot I’ve ever been to for a self-wash. 30 mins for $25.
Ive been visiting Bark Slope every 3 weeks for my cat. She used to be so anxious that the only way to groom her was at the vet. However, the workers at Bark Slope take good care of her and she is calm and relaxed with them! They are gentle when they apply the Soft Claws and are the only ones she feels comfortable having brush out her shedding fur.All the groomers who have seen my cat for her appointments have also gotten to know her. They take the time to talk to my partner and I. They even give us updates after each appointment to let us know how our cat did/what to look out for. They actually care about their clients. We can truly say that Bark Slope Salon employees are the best of the bunch!
The customer service was amazing the moment we walked in the door! Wynter walked us through the process and updated us at each stage. She even gave Oliver a little bowtie!! Thanks so much for the great service and extra care!
Had a really positive experience here. My partner and I took our dog in for the self service dog wash. They walked us through everything and had a bunch of helpful supplies and tips before we started. We didn’t realize our dog had a little cut under her ear from before coming in and It opened up during the bath. The staff were SO attentive and wonderful with her. I Would definitely recommend this place to anyone interested in professional and responsible grooming services
Went to use self serve bath and my dog had a skin reaction to their given soaps - shampoo and conditioner. Don’t know what brand as in unmarked bottles. Beware and consider brining your own soap for dog wash!
My fiance & I just moved in the neighborhood and were looking for a place to groom our dog. After doing some research on the web, we decided to take her to the Bark Slope Salon. We were very pleased with the work Abby did. The staff is really nice and professional. We will surely bring Alice back here for her next grooming and we definitely recommend this place. ☺️
The groomers at Bark Slope Salon are so great!! They took my beagle for a nail trim as a walk-in. He is normally very wiggly but, they trimmed his nails in under 5 minutes with no issues. The staff was wonderful and my dog was well taken care of. I highly recommend bringing your dog here for grooming services!
Used to love bringing my dog here for a quick nail trim. However, there’s a new policy where whomever is working the front desk trims nails. We did not know that and waited 25 minutes (when it’s usually a 5-10 minute process) and it was clear the girl had NO IDEA what she was doing: asking for help multiple times, pulling the same paw to trim over and over and OVER. Will not be returning. For the price I could learn to do it myself instead of paying someone to wing it on the job and my pet’s expense.
I have been to barknslope 5th ave location 2 times and I must say worth every penny .The receptionist are very friendly and helpful. The first visit I had with wynter was wonderful she was so sweet with me and my dog and did a amazing job. The 2nd visit I had was with Lisa and she was also so sweet, took her time and did a wonderful job with our Sydney. The prices are a bithigh but worth every penny .
My dog looks scary, but hes a huge marshmallow. Hes easy to groom and tolerates things being done to him. For that reason, Bark Slope charged me an extremely fair rate. He came back shiny and soft and hes STILL shiny and soft after a few weeks. He gets very doggy quite quickly. Last place I brought him to charged me on the higher end of his breed even though they said he was great and that hes smaller than your average male rottie. He also felt dirty again after a week. Bark Slope is now out go-to place!
I brought my dog to Bark Slope and the staff were all friendly and professional. My dog can be a little jumpy around new people, but they did such a good job of keeping her calm while they did an A+++ grooming job. I’m definitely coming back!
NEVER. AGAIN.tl;dr Bark Slope locked our senior dog (who has anxiety and a heart murmur) in a cage for 2 hours because the groomer couldn’t figure out how to finish her prior two appointments on time. Don’t commit us to a 3pm grooming appointment if you aren’t going to see our dog until 5pm.On Saturday we booked a grooming appointment at Bark Slope for the upcoming Monday at 3pm for our small, 14 lbs, 15-year-old Maltese Shih Tzu. We asked for whoever would handle our senior pup with the most gentle care, and Wynter accepted the job.We arrived at 2:30pm because we wanted to respect the groomer’s schedule and not be late. They said we could come back at 3pm; so we took a stroll around Park Slope, came back right at 3pm, and brought our guy to the back to get his hair done. We’d been here 3 occasions before: once for our little guy and twice for our little girl, and each appointment took about 1.5 to 2 hours max.Now usually with our pup being his size, age, and anxiety-ridden with a heart murmur, we really appreciated Bark Slope being able to complete the job within a 2 hour time frame. But today, 5pm rolled around and I hadn’t heard a word from the groomers. As we were in the Brooklyn area, we decided to swing by.This is when we found out Wynter had two clients before our little guy and she was “a little behind.” She apparently pushed our guy to the back of her list. All she had done was bathed him and then pushed him INTO A CRATE for 2 hours while she tended to her other concerns. My senior dog who has anxiety and a heart murmur was locked inside a cage.Wynter had the audacity to give herself the expertise of working at a vets office before and say he was fine and had no anxiety at all being in the kennel. This has been our dog for the past 15 years, we KNOW FOR FACT he does not do well in a kennel. He was frantically panting, eyes bulging, wheezing and whimpering, his heart noticeably pounding outside his chest. She said he could be groomed by the day’s end, by 7:30pm. SHE HADN’T EVEN STARTED TO TRIM HIM AND IT WAS 5PM; OUR APPOINTMENT WAS AT 3PM. All she did was give him a bath and brush. We said he’s been through enough and that we just wanted to bring him home.If you know that your responsibilities before 3pm could carry over, don’t book our appointment for 3pm.If you know you probably wouldn’t start grooming our dog until after 5pm, don’t ask us to come before 5pm.They handed us our little guy without his collar, harness, and leash. As they collected our belongings and returned it to us, they said, “you still need to pay for the bath.” We’d already been brought beyond boiling point and we just wanted to bring our boy home so we could all decompress. They charged me a $75 price tag for a bath. I was livid, but to be fair it was not the receptionist/cashier’s fault.Wynter: you treated us with utter disrespect, and more especially our dog without kindness, without compassion. Care and consideration are paramount qualities every professional groomer should possess, and today you certainly did not exercise either.Bark Slope: youve broken our trust in your team and your services. No dog and their owner deserves to be mistreated in this way.
Super nice staff, my dog isn’t always friendly with other dogs and there was no issue getting her nails clipped and teeth cleaned.
My husband brought our pup here after hearing about this place, but we were Not too pleased with how the groom came out. Our groomer was Gab. Just expected a bit of a better job. Customer service was ok.
My dog has never been groomed this well! Service was also great and super friendly
Great place to get your dog groomed. We get our recue pup groomed here. The staff is very understanding and caring. True attention to detail. highly recommend!
Sad to sad that I brought my very active puppy with no health issues to bark slope salon, recommended by a dog walker!!however I was so excited to have my lil boy groomed, unfortunately my puppy was returned in a trance just staring into the air smh he doesn’t bark anymore at all!!!he walks really slow …I’ve been going to the vet eversince. multiple vet bills !! Every time I pick him up he screech really loudly as if it’s hurting to this day ,,,he’s not eating as often I have to feed him water through a medicine syringe most times just to have him drink water this saddens me to the core!!!!! I reached out to bark slope numerous times I was told he didn’t have a bad report from the groomer and to provide paperwork from the vet for which he is diagnosed..I’ve been so stressed out I just don’t know what to do
They are amazing we’ve been taking our cat (pictured above) to this salon for her grooming needs for about 3 years now and we have no complaints. They treat her like royalty and are very professional friendly and sweet. I can’t say enough nice things about them!
The staff is so kind! Ive been giving our dog his haircuts at home for the first two years we had him and this was his first professional cut. Hes a big goldendoodle so it was quite a task, but the team did such a wonderful job with him and seemed to really enjoy their time together. The cut was exactly what we were looking for and everyone couldnt have been nicer.
I was recommended this service by Napoleon, Of Brooklyn Family Dog Walker. My girlfriend brought our small dog in for grooming and when she returned i was so happy to see the results. i am so glad the pet service community in brooklyn shares information. thank you Bark
I am a big fan of the team over at Bark Slope. I have a very shy and reserved pup, and not only do they make her look great but she comes out wagging her tail every time. Can’t recommend them enough.
Full service spa. Honestly, the best value in the neighborhood. I was fortunate enough to get my pups in for nail trimmings and expressions same day. The groomers were very clean and did a fantastic job with the manicures. The pups came out wagging their tails happy as can be. Huge thank you to the staff for making the puppers comfortable !
I ended up loving what they did to my dog but it wasnt at first what I asked for. So this is a space that can make creative decisions that conflict with what you asked. But then I gave it a week and my pup looks so good. He scruff grew back, he is clean where its essential, and they kept his Mohawk (so they will work with your main demands...). Ill be going back here because the service was good, they were honest about how he was, and there is talent in the staff.
We love them! Stacie is our groomer and always does a fantastic job!! Worth the price
The Bark Slope team are kind and communicative. Ive had a terrible time trying to get my Lagotto groomed properly, as many groomers claim to know the breed but really dont. Gabby, however, has been a godsend. Shes a wonderful groomer and really nails this atypical cut.
I asked for paw trim, face trim, sanitary trim, ear cleaning and teeth cleaning. It was done online so the salon had a record of what services I wanted. When the groomer came to the door he asked me what I want done. I was a bit surprised being that they had a record of it. When I asked for a paw trim he looked at me like what is that?. I especially said I dont want the hair around her face trimmed short because I like it round and he cut the hair short despite my request and now my dog has a pointy face. And the hair around her face isnt even. They also did not clean her ears and Im not sure how good the teeth cleaning is. They also didnt bother to wipe the tears around her eyes after the trim. This was my dogs first groom and Im very disappointed and will not be going back.
Ive been going to this place for four years. I love the girls that cut Josie, my dog. She hurt her leg and is in a cast and the told me they refuse to cut her even though the vet said it was ok. They even had me ask the vet, just to tell me no. Im not going to support this place anymore. $135 haircuts for an 8lb dog. Bye Felicia
Brought my 8 year old lab mix here for a bath and he was very well taken care of. Since he has a lab fur he didn’t need a cut, but I did opt for an extra de-shedding treatment and it worked WONDERS. In the days/weeks since there has been very little stray fur around out apartment. Recommended!!
The staff at Bark Slope has been really great with my anxious dog for the past 9 years. Love their new 5th Avenue location.
My friend and I took my 16 1/2 year old dog to self serve wash at Bark Slope wash and go. The place was immaculate and Eric was so friendly and helpful in setting us up, and the wash stations are big and we’ll equipped.really great experience.
Dusty is so happy when she gets a clean and groom here .. this will be our regular place for all three of our dogs
We have been using Bark Slopes dog walking services for almost three years. They have cared for two dogs of mine during that time period. One my senior German Shepherd who became handicap during this time period, and the other my shepherd mix puppy. My senior dog had a disease that became progressively worse and they went above and beyond to care for him during this time. They learned how to handle a dog wheelchair and help express him during his walks. It was so comforting to know he was in good hands with a team that was professional and caring, especially during such a hard time. Theyve also been very patient with my puppy as hes slowly matured over the past year and always tend to his mishaps. Communication has also always been easy and attentive with both Julia and Ari. This is a great team and I highly recommend their services.
I used Bark Slope for cat sitting and had a wonderful overall experience. App download and sign up was efficient and smooth. The actual service was communicative, attentive and kind. BS let’s you know when they arrive and check our, they send a photo and a quick, personalized note giving the run down on appt. I can’t say enough good things about this service! It gives me piece of mind that my little jojo is in great hands while I’m away.
My 13 year old dog is an emotional mess whenever I take her to the vet, or the groomers, or when left alone. I like Bark Slope because its small and there are not a lot of of other dogs there. I made the first appt. of the day and they took her right away and Natalie did an excellent job.
This place fulfilled all expectations just what I was looking for took my dog for grooming and winter the groomer did an excellent job. Thanks
My dog has been coming here since he was a puppy. Julia is awesome and always takes care of him so well. We are very happy.
We even going here for years. They are fantastic and take such good care of our little dog while doing an excellent job sprucing him up.
Great dog groomers in Park Slope. They always have my dog looking gorgeous. But it hard to get an appointment these days. You will have to call weeks in advance.
Bark Slope is the cutest pet store I’ve ever seen! Everything is so clean and organized and everyone’s so nice. They have a great selection of raw food and all the dogs who come out of the salon look so cute and happy like they’re walking a runway. Highly recommend.
Barkslope is great! Stephanie does a wonderful job with all my foster dogs who have mostly been shut down/nervous/reactive.
My dog came back looking and smelling cute. Would love a little more attention to detail as her paws had some stray hairs that werent trimmed.
Always professional, genuinely cares for the dogs. Our dogs always looks beautiful. We moved away and we still travel back every few wks to Bark Slope.
We’ve been coming here for like five years now. Always great service here. They treat our dogs with the utmost care and my babies come out photo shoot ready!!
Absolutely love Bark Slope Salon! I won’t take my little guy anywhere else. Highly recommend!
The friendliest and most thorough groomers around! My dog had a bath 2 weeks ago and she’s still super soft and shedding a lot less!
They do wonderful grooming on our doodle. Never too short, always just right! Easy to make appointments!
My cat is what one would consider feisty. The Groomers have always taken fantastic care of him! His cuts are always clean and consistent!
Best in Park Slope, staff is wonderful, my Koda looks like a million $ when he comes home… Gotta love Stacy
Very difficult to make appointment. Tried to multiple times to book an appointment but no one ever got back.Edit: they got back to me after this review. They fixed their contact page, and I was able to make an appointment, and my dog got a nice groom.
Amazing staff. Friendly environment
Incredible service, my dog always looks phenomenal after!
Pleasant staff and good service. My dog comes back clean and happy 😊
Love this place. Truly the best service and quality of care. Thank you bark slope!
When I say that my dog is an absolute drama queen, I mean it. Ive taken her to different groomers and some can handle her sass, while others cant. I brought her to Bark Slope once to get her nails done and the staff was so welcoming. The groomer loves my dog and doesnt make me feel bad about her monthly nail trims. Weve been back several times since our initial visit and Ill be a long-term customer. My only request was that there was an easier scheduling tool. Right now, I call or email them to book an appointment.
We are happy to have found this place. Our pup hates to have her nails trimmed. We will be taking her here from now on.
Eyy! I took my grannies dog Bella, there today! this place is worth checking out. shout out Gabby and the chill receptionist for giving that x factor this place has.
They always do a great job. Very well run pet salon.
These guys are great with dogs who - like ours - tend to be nervous and or uncooperative with groomers. Id love this place even more if we could book online.
Best haircut my lil guy has ever gotten. Very friendly and accommodating people. Will definitely be going here from now on.
They are very kind. My doggies are very anxious and they handled them wonderfully. Well be coming back soon! 🐶🐶🐶
Theyve been dealing with my 130 lb Newfoundland Ben for years. Wonderful job every time. Thank you!!!
I love the place and the workers are very friendly my Oliver love the the place ❤️ thank you see you soon 😊
They were quick and friendly for a walk in face trim for a shihtzu thats usually not fond of trims
My mini poodle Bowie is a “regular” and we book out far in advance to be sure we can get him in because they’re fab. Appreciate the care they provide. Sad they moved a little further from us but quality remains top notch! Trust them with your pup! I have for 3 years with this pup and even several years back with my old cranky Boston terrier. Nice to be back!
They are nice groomers, but takes a while to get an appointment and they skew on the pricey side. But because of quality and care, Ill return.
This place is great! Theyre awesome with me cat, super friendly, reasonably priced. Highly recommend!
Friendly staffs, warm welcoming place as soon as you step in my two poms loves it here..the dog walkers are awesome!!
The people here are the nicest and really care for your dogs! Highly recommended!
A+ every time!
The staff here is very nice you can really tell they do a great job and love animals.
Ive been taking my Roxie here for years. Great service, great haircuts.
Incredibly kind and thoughtful team. Really listens to any anxieties and takes good care of the pups!
They are super fast and super friendly! I travel from Crown Heights to go to them!
Such great service! Been going for years and will continue to be a patron!
My dog insists she goes to Bark Slope Salon!
By far the BEST dogwalkers in all of NYC! They took care of my Baci for all of my years in Park Slope. They are caring, thoughtful, trustworthy and take the time to train and introduce all new walkers with your pets and pet parents. I never ever worried about the safety or care of my fur baby. I not only used them for multiple walks every week day, I also used them for grooming and overnight stays. They are incredible people and I am so so sad to not be living close by and be able to use them. Highly recommend!!
I found this place by accident over a year ago and send my little pittie mix every couple months specifically for nails and gland expression. That’s all included in the bath plus the ear cleaning so it’s a great bang for your buck (IMO). My little 55lber has always been a little iffy with getting his nails trimmed and can get a little nervous around being handled a certain way after a bad vet visit that left him with some trauma. Bark Slope is always super patient with him and even help with giving him some treats in the lobby for more positive associations. I cannot recommend this place enough.
My puppy always looks amazing, no complaints .
Excellent dog walkers and groomers. Highly recommend!
Helped out at extremely short notice with some emergency cleaning. Very grateful.
They were great to work with and my pup has gotten a ton of compliments! Someone actually stopped me on the street and asked where I got him groomed. Prices are competitive and you get a high quality service.
Took amazing care of my dog! The best spot!!
My nervous dog is always in wonderful hands here and they do a great job!
2 Stars for Customer Service5 Stars for GroomingWe have taken our dog there for over 4 years and they do a great job. But on my last visit, I was very disappointed, not at his haircut but at there customer service. I was never informed, the 3x’s I spoke to them, as well as when I dropped my dog off, that they now charge over 12% CC fee. I was told when my card was charged. Had I been told of this new charge, I would’ve made sure I brought cash. So my 5lb dogs haircut cost me almost $100. I think it’s time I find a new groomer as this last visit left a bad taste in my mouth.
I love this place. They are so nice and skilled and gentle with my furry friend.
Staff is very friendly and always do a great job.
STACEY 4evah
