Unfortunately feel the need to share this story for others to get a full picture since we’re the only advocates for our pets. I took my dog in for an annual check up at the end of August. She was given a clean bill of health. Unfortunately, I had to put her down less than a month later since they’d missed signs of cancer that I trusted them to catch. After a trip to the emergency vet following scary and sudden deterioration in my dog’s health, I took my dog back to Hope and described her serious symptoms. Rather than taking me seriously, they charged me $900 for bloodwork and medicine that I knew would not work. It did not, and less than 24 hours later, I got a call that confirmed exactly what I thought, and I had to put her down. Not only that, but at her euthanasia appointment, their final act was misplacing her catheter, which popped while the vet was administering the euthanasia drugs and meant they had to start the process over with a new catheter. What a horrific, traumatizing experience and last few moments with my beloved pet. I see it each time I close my eyes. Pet owners are the only advocates for our pets, and unfortunately this clinic treats us like customers rather than patients. I’m sharing my story so that those who want the best care for their animals have ALL the information before they make a decision about where to get their care.
Very detail very nice staffs and very accommodating people. Very nice vets make sure the cat is comfortable first before they start examining. Don’t be afraid to ask them questions they will answer it and I like the vca gift bags too😅 the only reason why I only put 4 is because it’s kinda expensive but it comes with it especially if you’re looking knowledgeable and professional people for your fur babies
Had a amazing experience with Dr dwerShe seen my dog (Maltese ) twice do a possibile ulcer in the eye , and immediately gave me option on how to help her , today was or last day to check on it and my dog is feeling much better ,Would definitely recommend coming here there in great location the staff is friendly and the prices are reasonable.
I have been a customer with Hope for a few years and loved the way Dr. Abrahams took care of my 5 cats. Recently, I rescued a 6th kitten and brought her to Hope. We signed her up for the care clubs as we had done for our other three girls. After the first visit I never received a call for follow-up care.Since my kitten is now 5 months I called to schedule her spay (why we signed her up for the care club). When I called I was told that they cant do that. When i asked what she meant, she told me that there wasnt anyone there that can perform this surgery. Immediately, I asked why I was signed up for the care club and have the spay added if that couldnt be done? Makes no sense. Later I spoke to the front desk manager that explained to me that the vet had left in JUNE and they may or MAY NOT have been there when I signed up. Even with the excuse that the vet left, my second logical question was Why was I not informed, so I could make arrangements for my kitten elsewhere? I got nothing back except an empty apology. This is just sloppy work. All I can think is that they didnt want to lose out on money and honestly do not care for the welfare of the animals that go there. This place has not been the same since Dr. Abrahams left. I noticed most of the techs I knew were gone as well. The front desk is unprofessional and rude. You rarely see a doctor anymore. A vet tech just takes your pet and comes back when procedures are done. Its truly a shame their services have slid downhill that much. So, if you are looking for a good vet that actually cares for your pet and provides good service, I would NOT recommend bringing your pet here!Go to All Ears Veterinary in Brooklyn. It is a great facility with a caring staff.
They sell care club plans that they can’t carry out procedures for. Misleading and inaccurate. Signed my kitten up for their Care Club plan partly because it included spaying. Tried to schedule an appointment for her spaying and they said they didn’t have anyone there that could carry out the procedure. They got one star because there is no option for zero. 10/10 do NOT recommend. Go somewhere that can provide the services they sell.
Been coming here for years. Friendly staff and atmosphere. Bring my 2 babies here.
I have been a customer of Hope Animal Hospital since 2010. I have always received excellent service. Recently, in March 2024, I saw a new vet, Dr. Sang Lee, who was one of the best I’ve ever met.
Been going here for 5+years (first 2 years were great), and within the last 3 years the service has been generally unfriendly and unhelpful.Example, last week, I called to make a follow up appointment, and the front desk said it was critical I see the doctor asap. The only appointment they offered was one time slot that I wasn’t able to make, or 8 days from when I called. I asked if there was any other available times, they said no and recommended I visit another vet. (Provided no recommendations)Which is exactly what I did, and something I should have done years ago. We went to Bond vet, they were able to see us right away and the staff and doctors were incredible, so kind, welcoming, and knowledgeable! They were much better at handling my pet, and my pet was clearly a lot more comfortable with the vet staff. The staff at Hope now seems very inexperienced compared to other vets around the neighborhood.Overall, Hope is fine, but staff is isn’t very friendly/can be very rude, and there’s seems to be much better options out there.
HOPE Veterinary Hospital took our emergency case same day. Loved their phone manner, especially how wonderful they treated our new cat. We adopted Sandy from a shelter. Already 10 years of age, she couldnt hold any food down. They examined her and gave me everything I needed to help her through her long term aliments. She receieved a booster shot that has helped her immensely. The doctor and staff were fantastic. They gave us a treatment plan and prescription diet that she is thoroughly enjoying. We even got a new patient welcome kit that included a bunch of goodies for Sandy. My sons were relieved when I brought her back on the same day. I have never seen a happier cat returning to her new family or happier little boys!
Weve experienced diminishing returns with this clinic. Weve been with them for three years or so and the service just kept getting worse all the time. The doctors routinely confused our two cats (one is 5 and the other is 18!), insisted on expensive procedures and even yelled at me for the treatment of my cat. I am loving pet owner, but have the right to make a determination when it comes to medical procedures. Recently, I have called them 3 different times, was promised a call back from a doctor each time and never heard back. We are moving on to a different clinic.
This place has doctors thatdont know what their doing. My dog had green mucus coming her nose. Doctor said she had a cold. One week later she didnt recover, so I took her back again. This time she had green mucus coming out her eye duct. She, Dr. You need to put her down. My dog couldnt walk, pee, or defacate, I had to put food in her mouth and give her water. My poor baby was in a bad situation. I have been MOURING my baby. After the injection, these receptionist came back and forth asking if I want a print of my dog paw! If l want to plot, I just got so mad because I was messed up. They had no sympathy, of what took place. After awhile I recieved a card saying they were sorry my dog died. Huh! Dont take your dog here for emergencies, take them to a REAL hospital like Blue Pearl on 3rd ave. God blessing be upon you all.
I so, love this place the staff and doctors. I have had the opportunity to deal with them as my pure breed Yorkshire terrier Musiq. Got sick and they did everything to make sure they found out what was wrong with him. They saved my fur baby life, I will always love and appreciate the staff, vets and this warm living place. I suggest anyone that goes here get their pet package for your dog or cat, which covers different things for your pet. It does cost different prices for the month depends on the package you get and get pet insurance I like healthy paws cause it fits my budget. This is a great place they love and treat every pet they come across very well. And make you leave understanding how to care for your fur baby. Bravo to this wonderful staff without them helping me, I would have lost my fur baby. Glad hes still here to drive me nuts.
My pet family are new here and last week was our first experience there. So far i can say the place is very clean, kind staff and medical team. Friendly smiles and light conversations with other visitors. Our 2 cats received their shots and had a check up. I like that the nurse as well as Doctor was extremely friendly and very patient with my cats. One of the cats was more nervous than the other. I also like that they explain things to you thoroughly and answer any questions you may have. We found our new vet 😸
We have two cats and have had a great experience with Hope. One thing I appreciate is that they check in on your pet periodically if theyre being treated for a condition. The facilities are in good order and everything is kept properly clean. The staff is always very patient with the pets, even those that are difficult and wont let the vet take their temperature.
The vets are very professional and caring. My wife and I have been coming here with our cats for years. We have had to go to other vets recently and the overall quality level wasnt nearly the same. They are very upfront about pricing as well. Its not cheap but no vet is cheap in NYC. They run a great operation.
The website and every other source shows Saturday hours until 6pm. At 3pm we were told our dog’s meds were ready, but when my partner arrived at 5:29pm to pick up she was told that “sometimes” they decide to close at 5pm without any notice. When my partner asked if the rep could provide the meds since she was there already and the doors were still open, the rep told her it was too late because “the systems were just shutdown”. Horrible customer service!!! Don’t go here. They will just try to sell you expensive services & products your pet doesn’t need and then have no concept of service for their clients.
I highly recommend Dr. Taryn Abrams. She is smart, competent, caring, and best of all, down-to-earth. Shes willing to have a dialog and discuss what NEEDS to be done and why, versus other options which may be nice to know but are not crucial.I do cat rescue and have worked with many vets, some of which are mediocre at best. But Dr. Abrams was top-notch. She fixed my rescue cats problems in short order.I had come here only because I had a health-care certificate from the city shelter. It wasnt my regular vet and I was apprehensive. But I was / am so impressed with Dr. Abrams knowledge and kindness.Ill be back with my own pets.
My dog has been going to Hope for the past several months. Ever since the VCA Bayridge location closed. He has IVDD and has been receiving both his routine care and regular Accupuncture. Dr. Abrams sees him whenever he has a health issue and Dr. Ashley and the vet techs manage his accupuncture. Recently my 14 year old Maltipoo has been having issues related to his IVDD and has required more frequent vet visits. Dr. Abrams has been a god send. She exudes compassion and genuine care. When I have called with an emergency they have always managed to squeeze us in for a visit. These past few weeks watching my pup experience his health issues have been emotionally difficult and I cant say enough positive things about the staff at Hope and how they have cared for him and been responsive with the follow ups and treatment plans. I am so thankful for the education, support and care they have provide my little man.
The staff is great! They are super kind. Came here at first when I rescued a kitten I found and wanted to use that first free initial exam they offer. After the first appointment this is now where I bring my kitten all them time and will also be bringing my dog here if I need to. I reccomend this vet 10/10. Love it
How this facility continues to exist is astonishing! If you love your pet then you must avoid this sham of an animal hospital. Not only is the young receptionist extremely rude but more importantly there is no veterinary staff!!
My 4 year old cat Ajah was treated with so much care at this establishment. Doctor Ashley was very attentive as well as her assistants. they explained everything to me step by step, and gave me additional information pertaining to his breed and his diagnosis also the care plan. The front desk admins were very nice as well and patient with me due to me having a lot of questions. Michael ( technician) called and texted to follow up with my cats well being post surgery ( neutered), and gave me Ajah s test results. I am very happy with my choice in choosing hope hospital !
I really can’t say enough about this place. Dr. Abrams is absolutely wonderful and I am so thankful that she is the one taking care of my fur babies. When we moved to NYC back in September, we came with the knowledge that one of our dogs was sick and would require some pretty serious treatment when we got settled. It was stressful thinking about finding a new vet, especially one we couldn’t meet due to COVID, but Dr. Abrams and the staff at Hope really went above and beyond to relive this stress. We are now finished with his treatment and I have no intention of finding a new vet to be our primary care provider. She has really taken such wonderful care of our pups and has been THE most communicative and responsive vet I have ever encountered. I would recommend Dr. Abrams and Hope to anyone!
They were wonderful with my 13 year old cat. I hughly reccoment their care plau oackage. Saved me hundreds of dollars on senior cat car.
This place is incredible. We travel from the west side of Manhattan to come to this clinic. Theyve been great with both of our dogs. Dr. Burnette is hands down the best Vet in the city. When we had to say goodbye to our last dog they were all unbelievably compassionate - from the top down. With our current dog they have helped step of the way and kept us well informed. We couldnt ask for a better clinic.
Michael, the vet tech/assistant was the kindest human being in the building. As well as the 2 ladies at the front desk. Dr. Masani Accimé, however, has to be one of the rudest doctors I’ve been to. She came into the room immediately chastising me for sitting on the floor next to my very sick dog and for not getting up quickly enough when she asked that I did. I have an injured leg, so I thought it was pretty insensitive and her tone didn’t change much when I told her that fact as well. She cut me off several times. She maintained wide, disapproving eyes and a condescending tone for most of the time in the room. It was just a really rude experience to me. Sadly, won’t be back to be treated that way again.
** Dr Young no longer here and from what i can tell she was pushed out. We’re following her and my rating is now downgraded due to the hospital not following holistic practices.Dr. Young has been our vet for 8 years for our 2 cats. I come from a family with many animals in the farmland of Virginia so I have a good deal of experience dealing with veterinary services.Hope vet offers highest quality of pet care. They are not cheap - but the prices are reasonable and affordable. The offices are always clean and quiet and they work with an adoption agency to find homes for cats and dogs. They are also affiliated with the Emergency 24 hour vet/hospital in cobble hill.I dont have much else to add but will say that I love Hope vet and always recommend them to friends and acquaintances in Brooklyn.
Front desk staff are very friendly but when i got to see doctor she was kind of rude. I brought in my kitten which i adopted from a shelter and had rude comments to say about them. She was also not very friendly with my kitten and when she gave her medicine and my kitty spilled the bottle, she sucked her teeth and sent me home with half bottle of medicine. I dont think i will go there anymore and i will be informing the shelter about the not so nice comments this doctor made. I felt like adopting kitty from shelter was a bad thing 😐 even tho i know that its not.
I dont have words to describe how great Hope has been to our family over the years. We have dogs and cats. I have been bringing pets there for well over a decade. The vets are so experienced and so smart and so compassionate. They are clear about your options for the treatment of your pet. The vet techs are so skilled and so gentle. The people in the front are professional. In some ways I feel like the medical doctors in my life are interchangeable. But Hope Vet is irreplaceable.
Ive been going to HOPE for several years now since Dr.Young was there. The last visit was due to my dog being fairly sick and I was able to make the appointment for 2 days later. Its been almost 2 years since my dog was last seen and that was my total fault. So I was grateful to be seen.Due to Covid, we had to wait outside of the facilities which was totally understandable. However the wait turned into 45 minutes in the sweltering heat. No I wasnt too happy with that, but we were seen and he is doing much better
Our cat went in for a dental cleaning. She was groggy for several days afterwards. We havent done a dental cleaning before so Im not quite sure if this is normal. Therefore I wont comment on this. However, Im concerned about their service and caring. When i called to express concern about my cat I spoke with the receptionist who relayed my message to the vet. The vet never got on the phone, nor was there ever a follow up call made by the vet.I would have liked to see better follow up and a higher level of concern and empathy.I wont go back.
Used to love this place for my dogs but they have lost all of their regular vets and are now owned and run by some big corporation who employs per diem vets who know nothing about your pet and seem to care even less. We left Hope animal hospital after over 5 years. A very sad loss.
Do not recommend! All they care about is getting your dollar. I brought my pet in for a first visit exam and they literally did nothing until they saw $500 worth of vaccines, tests, and ointments being paid for. Speaking to the nurse and doctor both felt very rushed and when checking out I explained to the doc that I did not want ointment and she casually tried adding it in to my bill saying, “okay. Well, he really needs it, so why don’t I just add it on? Okay. Great!” Like, girl bye and stopped her. Thankfully I had a first time coupon, but if not it would’ve been $85 for waking in the door. Would not suggest coming to this vet. Also, every time I’ve called, I’m out on hold for a minimum of 10 mins. It’s ridiculous.
We love Dr Ashley. She has seen my Maggie a few times now. She is sweet and helps us get exactly what my little girl needs while sticking to our budget. Receptionists could be kinder.
After 10 years, I am no longer patronising Hope Animal Hospital. Disabled people are not welcome because we cancel too many appointments, and we are penalised for this. In a year in which my father died, I broke my leg and went through two surgeries, at the end of a pandemic, I really need a vet with more compassion for me AND my animals.😢
This place was excellent when it was privately owned.. Dr. Young and her team were the best. They were always available, loving and extremely caring. There was never an issue to do a late scheduling. When VAC came and took over, it lost alot of unique qualities. The personal touch is gone. I guess they kept the name so they can keep the existing patients and their owners.
Ive been here for three visits and my dog got good care from the vets, but the support staffs lack of attention to detail and followthrough made my trips disappointing. Here are the three incidents:1. When I was steps away from the hospital for my scheduled first visit, I get a phone call from the saying that theyre sorry but I cant use the first visit free coupon during the weekend, and if I can reschedule.2. I scheduled my dog for her distemper and rabies vaccines for another visit. After a long wait, they took my dog back for her distemper vaccine, and then the vet tech told me Ild have to schedule another visit so the vet can do her rabies vaccine. When I scheduled the visit, I was clear about what shots were needed and THEY scheduled me with the vet tech, instead of the vet. I was irate, and in the end one of the nice vets was able to administer the shot during the same visit.3. I left that visit with a copy of the rabies certification - or so I thought. I got home and realized that the copy they printed for me was not signed and did not even include the vets license number. I called three times to get an official and signed copy that I could send to get my dogs license and told three times that it was emailed. That was two weeks ago and I gave up.
Update: I spoke with the issue below to the Medical Director, Hedda Burnett, she is an incredibly understanding, gentle, patient individual - to my concerns. She took the time to talk and work with me to find a solution that we both could agree on. I admit I was not expecting someone as kind and sympathetic to my worries as Ms. Burnett. To be able to have people such as this at a veterinary clinic is extremely comforting when I am so worried about my elderly cats health.~~~~~I was scammed out of my money and my pet received no care. Dr. Ashley did not show me nor my cat any patience or kindness and in the end my cat is still unwell and I paid for nothing. I will not be returning.
Very inconsistent service and poor communication.Expect to wait 30 minutes after your appointment to get in, you need to remind the vet why you are there (they will forget routine vaccinations) and instead of them calling you for any follow-ups you have to call them. They seem to forget things a lot and I’ve lacked confidence treatment plans. We’ve had a few good experience here and so many poor ones we are going to find a new vet. It’s a bummer as everyone is nice, but that doesn’t make up for the rest.
This place is awfully expensive. I had brought in my cat to try and determine if he is fully recovered from his previous symptoms but I left without knowing if his previous treatment was successful or not. I was not fond of them trying to sell me their VCA Wellness care club because it is awfully expensive, $100 a month and they dont cover everything my cat needs. I feel more like they just wanted to sell me a lot and not analyze my cats health.
They have seem all my cats up to their passing and really took care of each one. Jus adopted a new cat from Baltimore and am looking forward to their medical support to guarantee a long happy existence for our new little guy.
My dog went in sick came out sick .They took my money left my dog out no medication nothing. Just told me take him to Blue Pearl for a ultra sound which he didnt need results was fine. Blue pearl so expensive and they both get one star from me. I will never recommend these both sites to no one. No one never called to see how my dog was doing I had to call. Just today on Valentines day my baby dog went to heaven. I love him soooooo much I will miss him .😪😪
We have two elderly cats and have been visiting Hope Vets with them for the past year. We have seen three different vets here (Dr. Young, Dr. Ashley and Dr. Nims), and all three were knowledgeable, kind and caring. Take the time needed to treat the patient. We will definitely return.
Found a cat on the street and after waiting a week for the available appointment was finally able to bring him in to be checked out only to be turned away at the door because we were 19 mins late . I understand the inconvenience of lateness but the location is not easy to pull up to if you know the area around this part of Atlantic you are unable to make turns and often get stuck in the traffic. The person on the phone didn’t care at all and said if we had arrived only 4 mins prior they would have seen us. When making the appointment there had been no mention of this tardy policy. When I explained it had taken an hour to get there, they stuck to their policy regardless. There was no one in the clinic or waiting outside. She also refused to reapply the coupon we would use on this visit for the reschedule. There are many places to go in NYC with equally valuable deals and nicer, more humane staff, don’t go here.
• On 9/29, our dog was seen by Dr. Nancy Ashley who seemed really caring. We paid for an xray, blood test, meds, exam: $712 later, even though we waited 1hr 45mins to be seen. (Is our time not valuable?)• On 10/6, we brought her back and was charged another $136 bc of ear infection: med and exam.• We were asked to return for a follow-up to see if ear infection was clear and was again charged another $60 for exam. REALLY?!!?!!How about just a kind follow-up to see if her ear cleared-up? Why charge for another exam? She hasnt changed since the last 2 weeks visits. Owners would tell if their pets behavior is different. Only then should the vet re-exam. But to charge for another exam when we were invited back, is really NOT nice. Youre taking advantage of the good-hearted pet owners in the neighborhood!! Its a shame!
Thinking I should take advantage of the free exam coupon for my fostered kitten, I made an appointment for January 7th with Hope animal hospital. The front desk ladies were nice but that was about it. The vet tech spent about 5 minutes attempting to sell me VCA insurance ($75/month??) when I was clearly not interested. They examined my kitten under Wood’s lamp and assured me that she didn’t have ringworm and prescribed some antibiotics to her (there was no, “maybe we should take a culture to determine if the missing hair on her ears is ringworm.” The vet just decided she didn’t have it). My visit in total cost $238!!! For two medicines and a dewormer 😲Two weeks later, I find out that my kitten has a horrible case of ringworm. I called VCA Hope animal hospital and they told me they would have to charge me for a visit to determine if she had ringworm or not. I got the vibe that these people are only in this business for the $$$ and I went to see another vet (who took the appropriate measures to diagnose my cat and gave me medicine for ~$120). What a scam!
My cat has been seen by the veterinarians at Hope Vet since 2016 and they have always taken good care of her. Never a problem getting an appointment and they can access information from other vet hospitals such as VERG & Blue Pearl.
All of the doctors here are very kind and helpful, and have always taken great care of my pet, and the rest of the staff are all very nice as well. I would suggest them if you live in the area.
Ive been a loyal client of Hope Vets for over 12 years. Despite hearing from other friends and colleagues about their poor experiences with Hope, we stuck with them. They have seen four of our animals, and over the years I have witnessed a rapidly diminishing quality of the care they provide. It is now gotten to the point of neglect. Here are a few examples:- We needed to refill the Heartguard prescription for our dog, which they refused to do, based on the fact that we hadnt followed their procedure on how to administer the heartworm treatment. When I asked for a copy of this policy, they pointed me to their website, where no such policy existed. I pressed further and was simply told that its just Hopes procedure, and was faced with having to bring my dog who is very anxious of vet offices just to pay for a blood test that cleared my dog of heartworm.- One of our dogs had to have emergency surgery for bloat - which I learned is the 2nd biggest cause of death for dogs. The emergency clinic where we had the surgery conducted sent all of the results and records of the surgery to Hope Vet. We did not receive a single follow-up call to check on the status of our dog - a dog that has been in their care - following an extremely major and invasive surgery. A few months later, when I wanted to get a consultation with Dr. Young on her thoughts about what we should do regarding some post-op issues, all I could get was a call from the receptionist explaining to me that Dr. Young refuses to speak with me about a dog she hasnt seen in a year. All I was asking, after 12 years of regular medical care, was for Dr. Young to give me a call and chat. This couldnt be arranged unless I spent more money (on top of the thousands of dollars we have spent on our animals at Hope)- Our rather anxious dog takes medication to calm his anxiety, and I had ordered a refill online. The online prescription service tried to get in contact with Hope Vet three separate times without a response. When I contacted Hope, they told me they declined the medication based on the fact that they hadnt seen our dog in a year (which wasnt true - we brought him in to get myriad blood tests they insisted on not more than 5 months prior). Despite the fact that this is a serious medication, Hope didnt make the effort to communicate to us that they had declined the refill. The level of negligence and focus on exacting the most payment out of their clients is something I never thought Id see with Hope. Wed been very happy with them, and more than willing to make the long trek to bring our animals there. The last two years have been an immense amount of stress and grief when dealing with them, and I cant in good conscience not offer my views for others to see. I wanted to contribute this review because I felt that folks needed to have something to consider when they are looking for someone to provide their animals with care.
I wanted to make this place my cats primary care facility since it was so close to home. I took him here in March at the beginning of the covid 19 pandemic and when he was still seeming sickly recently, i called and asked for Dr Ashley to call me back so we could discuss. It took her 6 hours plus me calling back to follow up for her to leave a message to “just bring him in.” I will not go to this facility again.Update: It seems the owner likes to reply to these reviews, offering his email to talk about our bad experience but thats JUST TO MAKE IT LOOK LIKE THEY ARE DOING SOMETHING TO MAKE UP FOR THEIR AWFUL SERVICE.I emailed the owner 3 days ago with no reply. This place only cares about getting your money, not about the animal. NEVER NEVER NEVER AGAIN. I cant believe I even entertained the idea of returning here.
Frustratingly slow. They asked me to come in 15 minutes early, which I did, and then proceeded not to see me for 45 minutes. After finally seeing the vet, I ask for a quote for the medications. I wait another 20 minutes at which point they come to me with the already packaged and prescribed medicines and no quote. After asking for the prices again and I tell them I would only like two of the three medicines — they tell me to wait for the vet to take it off the bill. What should have been a regular appointment turned into over two hours, of which 1.5 was literally waiting in the waiting room. Will avoid this place in the future if I can.
Arrogant, rude, and disrespectful in every possible way, This used to be a great animal clinic that cared about animals and the families they live with but no longer. The front office help is incredibly rude and the doctors are judgmental. My wife and daughters and I went to see about adopting a cat from them last week as we had used them for a number of years to care for our dogs and our cat who passed away. The office manager (I think), publicly grilled and ridiculed my wife for what she perceived as her short comings. She even went as far to pull up our other animals records in public and go through them questioning the decisions we had made. The level of disrespect for confidentiality was shocking and maybe in fact illegal? I am not sure on the laws governing pet health care records but this clearly crossed any line of what would be considered professionalism in veterinarian practice. There are many other vbets in Brooklyn I would suggest you go elsewhere.
Appt made same day for 11AMTaken in for vitals at 11AMSeen by a really sweet and caring female doctor at 11:30AMCould do testing for my cat’s eyes (she seemed to be having issues with vision) immediatelyMore than happy tbh, I don’t get the negative reviews. Everyone was pleasant and everything ran well
Clinic is very welcoming. My baby Yorkie has been going their since months old. He is so spoiled. Lol Love it their. Thank you to Dr. Abrams.
Love love love this place! Dr. Mason has been by our side through a few losses. We followed her here from her previous location. Caring, honest, loving. We trust them with our senior rescues 100%.
Without going into a really long story, just dont take your pets to Hope Veterinary Services. In short, one of the veterinarians hurt my cats ear drum during a cleaning then another vet later prescribed a potent medication for dogs that has severe side effects. Just simply stay away from this veterinary office. **Additionally, one of their veterinary technicians, as they call him, is not licensed and educated in veterinary technology, which is required by law and by the NYS Veterinary Board. **
Awesome friendly and thorough service.Dr Burnett was so helpful in helping us move our cat home to Australia. Always made time to answer any questions quickly and offer assistance. Gentle and caring with our cat
JUST HAD A GREAT EXPERIENCE AT HOPE. for the past 2 years i have been looking for a caring vet. winner winner i found one. Dr. Mason was great. free first visit pulled me in but their prices are very good in my eyes. thank you guys
This is a very good vet office, with a very nice vet and terrific veterinary assistance and techs. The vet went out of her way to find a solution to my dogs problem and was very responsive in every way.
That was my first time there. All the staff and the Veterinarian was pleasant and professional. My kitten Nova was examined and cared for with Top Notch Care.
This is an animal clinic for rich white people. I paid $700 to be told my pet has gas. They drop a lot of trigger words to scare you into paying money and make you feel bad if you don’t. Shame on these people. It felt like I was at a crooked auto mechanic. Search google. Way cheaper places just blocks away.
I just brought my dog here for a visit. We were in and out quickly - no waiting here and the vet was fabulous with my somewhat squirmy pup. Prices were also reasonable, though there is a one time new patient fee.
Amazing place! Feels extremely cozy. .. But just correcting another review, there isnt a new patient fee. Its just that you pre-pay the 65 dollars they charge for your first exam. No extra.
Our cat Joey was diagnosed with cancer and had to be put down. Dr Pines and Dr Reilly are the most caring and compassionate doctors who took care of Joey with the absolute best way possible❤️ I love this place , the staff are very kind and sensitive to the emotional pain of losing our beloved JoeyThank you for all your careJoey will be missedThank you guys
I went when my hamster was sick. She had cancer around her lungs. Everyone was so nice. They even told me about programs and cremated her for me. So helpful and nice. I recommend highly.
The veterinarian staff did good job on my dogs checkup, very clean, it has adorable cat to adopt and very decent and love the texture of the outside building of the vet hospital, and it’s very quick after getting check in for doctor appointment

Love love this hospital, the staff was like angels and they love for animals is very evident.my baby hearts( my cat) was behind the house door when i went out he followed but he was a second to late and the door caught his back leg omfg it was a bloody scene so i called this hospital and they said bring him in got there it was like e.r t.v show they came took him in the back and looked the doctor said we must amputate his back leg i past out then when i came to they did the xray and found it was just his paw so he was stitched up and released i was so releaved.you cant put a price on that.if you truly love you pet who is family price is no object!!
The team at Hope are awesome. The staff are friendly and helpful, and they go the extra mile to make sure our four legged family members get the best care. Thank you!
Ive been using Hope Animal Hospital for years to care for my kitties. The entire team, from the front desk, technicians & veterinarians, are exceptional! Gladys at the front desk is professional, kind & explains everything to us. The technicians, Michael, Crystal & Anthony are always very caring to our babies & they are very thorough. I cant say enough good thing about the doctors. They always answer our questions and we always feel confident our furry family members have gotten the best care.
My kitty came here after I adopted her, really quick service and they love animals here. Check it out if you need service for your new furry friends
Horrible experience lost my dog there with toxic VACCINES. They took my dog in the backroom and I dont know what they did but I wasnt allowed to go with my dog while they administered a lethal injection that inadvertently started the biggest heartbreak imaginable.
They were very helpful with the passing away of my cat Muso. God bless them. Amen.
Have been taking my cat here for over 11 years, but Ive had some negative interactions with them as of late and will be taking my cat elsewhere from now on.
Very friendly staff. Clean location. I felt great after visiting. Very accommodating. My kitten was in good hands
The best animal hospital ever. K Kelly was the best, I simply ❤ her as my tech.
They consistently put up with my dog and I when Im convinced somethings wrong. Always patient and friendly. Wouldnt take my dog anywhere else!
Dr Reddies is so incredibly thoughtful and humane. She calls at least once a week to check on my cat who is very sick.
Wonderful vet clinic in Brooklyn. I took my pup here for a check up and they were very nice.
This people are extraordinary they care for the animals they are wonderful and very helpful very excellent team work it was recommended to me by my brother and recommend it to you if I could give it a 10 star ratings I would
They saved our dog after a copperhead bite! My wife and I are forever grateful.
By far the most attentive Vets Ive found after shopping a continuously sneezy cat around for years. Highly recommended.
Love the staff at this location. They treat my puppy very well and communicate very well with us.
Very unprofessional and sloppy. I agree with the negative reviews. The supervisor Gladis seems very aggressive and money hungry. Glad my pets wont be handled by them.
Very transparent and not pushy when it comes to making decisions based on budget. Doctors are super knowledgeable and kind. So happy we found a good place to our dogs!
Love it here. Vets and staff are very good and super nice.
Very warm and Proffessional. Reasonably priced and informative staff.
Dr. Nancy Ashley is wonderful. We were referred to her a few years ago for acupuncture for our senior dog Cooper. Dr. Ashley is very accommodating, caring and compassionate. We were so pleased with the acupuncture service that now we see her for routine vet visits as well!
Love the staff and doctors!!! They really take care of your pets.
I just moved to the neighborhood and needed a vet. Theres a few in the area but I decided to go to Hope as it was the closet. The facility is really nice with a big waiting area, which is a plus because there are times where my pup doesnt get along with others so its nice to not be in a cramped space.I was greeted by the vet tech (wish I remembered her name) and she was really sweet off the bat. Asked me a lot of questions and was really attentive to my pup. The Dr. Phillips came in, examined him, and answered all of my follow up questions plus a little more. We walked out with some medicated wipes and antibiotics. For the neighborhood, I was expecting the bill to be outrageous, but its pretty standard. As a first time patient, they waived the office fee, which is $65. One Love Hospital wanted $85, which to me is nuts. Oh! They even called my old vet to get the records sent over so I didnt have to!All in all the experience was great and Ill definitely be coming back!
Our pets have been patients at Hope Animal Hospital (and at Cobble Hill Animal Hospital before that) for about 10 years. Ever since Dr Mason has left the hospital, we have had negative experiences.About 2 months ago, I called because my cat was ill and in a lot of pain. The front desk staff told me they were booked and to find another vet. How can you say that to a patient of such long standing? After further discussion I was able to get an appointment, the vet ran several very expensive tests and found no issues. Only upon a second round of very expensive tests did she diagnose a UTI (I can’t imagine how this was not included in the first round of testing). And getting in touch with the vet to obtain the results was a nightmare. It took over a week to get the first round of results, multiple calls, and multiple promises to receive a call back which were not followed through on. I went through the same after the second round of tests.Last week, I brought my dog in for her annual exam, which was over $800 and seems absurdly expensive for an annual exam and updated vaccines. I returned today for her rabies booster, was told by the technician I was set to leave and then received a frantic call from the front desk staff about 20 minutes later letting me know I didn’t pay for service. I’m now being charged an additional $100 for the booster. What a scam. It’s a $70 fee for the booster and a $35 fee for the “oversight of the vet while the technician administered the booster”. Funny how initially the front desk staff told me my dog didn’t even see the vet today, only the tech. Let’s not forget to mention my dog was back there for less than 5 minutes. I am extremely disappointed with our recent experiences at Hope Animal Hospital.[Update] After a response from “the owner” asking to email the manager, which I did, I have not received any response in over a week. Hope animal hospital has no respect or regards for their patients.
This was very disappointing. My cat was a patient of this practice for two years and he received great care while here, the vet was always attentive and followed up. But recently, I was unable to get a refill on prescription food. I emailed Hope twice for a response on the refill and was only told that the doctor would not authorize it after I called. I was told we had to come in but given the pandemic and my current situation, this was not possible. Regardless, the receptionist was incredibly curt, unhelpful, and I asked to speak with the vet. I am certain this receptionist never passed on my message as I called twice and never received a call back. I could not believe how unprofessional this was. The fact that Hope was more concerned with getting me to pay the fee for a visit than they were with trying to find a way to renew the prescription remotely shows me that they are more interested in getting cash than they are providing care. Real bummer.
Reached out to these guys because my darling kitty began coughing. It scared me I call them and even though I didnt have an appointment. They were so kind to squeeze me in at the last minute. Basia is amazing!!! I love her the most.. the vet was so gentle and kind. This is my kiddies VET from now on. Thank you guys..your love and concern for animals is outstanding.
If you have any sort of exotic animal DO NOT, I REPEAT NOT bring them here.Long story short they claim certification and expertise in treating exotic animals, however in actuality they do not have these credentials. And when/if your pet passes away they quickly change their story claiming to never have possessed those skills in the first place. They are dangerous for pets and for pet parents. Please do not be fooled by the good rating as I was and stay away!Approximately 1year ago I brought my chinchillas in for an annual checkup and to check on possible weight loss. I called ahead asking if they were experienced in chinchilla care, to which they responded that they indeed were certified to treat chinchillas and had copious experience handling and treating chinchillas. Worried that my smallest chinchilla wasnt doing well, I rushed her in. I was told by the vet that she was perfectly healthy and to give her fresh vegetables for a few days. Two days later she collapsed and died the following day. I took her to the aspca in Manhattan and eventually had her body autopsied. They said any vet should have been able to pick up on her signs of distress and her failing state of health, and someone certified to treat these small rodents could and most importantly SHOULD have seen these signs and informed me on her prognosis. I called hope animal hospital two days after Puca (my chinchilla) passed and they said they werent certified to treat chinchillas, even though they had previously claimed they were. I even asked the vet who claimed plenty of experience treating chinchillas, but after her passing he simply said he had only seen one or two chinchillas previously. They then blamed the death of my chinchilla on me. To top it off they after I called them to inform them of her passing so they could remove her from their system (which is when they shed all blame of her death onto me) they continue to send me reminders to take my dead pet in for checkups! Truly a horrible place!
My dogs needs Are always met here
We have never had anything except absolutely EXCEPTIONAL care at Hope Animal Hospital, especially from Dr. Mason. The staff has been incredibly responsive to the many many many needs of my almost 4yo cocker spaniel by following up expediently with test results via email and phone. They have always been very upfront about costs associated with care and take a conservative, very careful approach to care to ensure that no possible healthcare issue goes undiagnosed. Cluny, our cocker spaniel, has also needed to visit specialists to address his dermatological and neurological needs so Hopes staff has been instrumental in collaborating with those specialists to ensure that every doctor was on the same page in terms of his ongoing needs. They are mindful of costs while being honest about what services are necessary to give Cluny the highest quality of care. Weve been with Hope since Clunys first puppy visit, at 9 weeks old, and cannot imagine ever going anywhere else. Thanks to Hope, we will always feel right at home, like part of their family, when were there :-)
My cat and I went to see Dr. Jason Labes, who is very nice and patient during our discussion, explained things clearly, and treated my cat warmheartedly. So did the technician! When I called earlier this week to ask for information, the receptionist/assistant, whose name is Asper, is SUPER nice and helpful. But the next day when I called back, another receptionist was impatient---this is the only tiny downside I had.The clinic has a bit of medicine smell when I stepped in, but it didnt bother me too much and I ignored it very soon. Other pet owners in the waiting area are also friendly.
I have been to this vet with several different cats over the past 1 1/2 years. There were several little irksome things along the way but today it all came to a head. It is really hit or miss depending on which vet you get, and I would only recommend Dr. Labes. They are also quite expensive compare to the new vet I started using.1) I feed my cats a mix of raw and wet food, and was duly chastised by one of the vets, who all but accused me of malnourishing my cat because they need things like Taurine. I did not appreciate the tone which was condescending rather than, hm, that is interesting, have you considered xy and z?. And I would have answered of course I have. An exchange of ideas is fine, but talking down to me is not2) They never sent the paperwork to the insurance company even though they said they did3) They have coupons that waives the consultation fee for the first visit. I brought in what I thought was perfectly healthy cat, had him FIV/FELV tested and he came back FIV positive. When I got my bill the fee had NOT been waived; the vet didnt have the courtesy to tell me it wouldnt be. When I queried the front desk person she said it was because the cat was sick, meaning he had FIV. Seriously? Had I NOT had him tested, they would not have known and the fee would have been waived. He is not sick, he has FIV which can lead to him getting sick easier. She said he was fit to fly - sick cats are not fit to fly. So which is it? He is sick only for billing purposes?I was so disgusted I told them I disagree, paid the exorbitant bill, and promised never to return. I might have to, though, because the rabies vaccine does not have the DvMs license number on it. Great
Staff was very caring for our kitty.
Dr is very nice and helpful
Horrible service. Weve been bringing pets to them for years and when our small rabbit got very sick they wouldnt even make time to see her the same day even though we called at 8am.
Good vet that has a care plan for pets.
Well informed doctors and flexible times
Good service. Dog is happy.
Terrible front desk receptionist
Expensive, inconsistent care, poor communication.
Great and well informed staff
There’re the best
Very friendly staff
