West Hills Big Dog Run

Its nice, theres a lot of space for my dog to run and play. Theres a sunny side and shaded side. Theres a water pump and bowls already there, though we bring our own. The people were friendly and the dogs for the most part. There were benches to sit on, some plastic chairs that had been moved to a distanced circled. Everyone seemed to know each other but they were very welcoming to me and best friend. Some people wore masks and others didnt but the ones that didnt staid a good distance away while they talked.

My dig loves to go to the park and chase a ball and play with his friends.

Best dog park Ive ever been to. This dog park has a small foresty area inside the fence that my dog went crazy exploring and running around in. Other dogs are friendly, place is clean of dog poop, and the fenced area is HUGE. When my dog was at the other side of the park from me I could only make her out as a tiny white dot. Freely available water from a pump that was easy to use/turn on. Well definitely be back here.

Fenced in, relaxed place to unleash and let your your big dog act like a puppy , this park is for 25 lb plus dogs, Ive see little dogs here, I do not see a problem with big and small dogs interacting as long as the owners pay attention to their dogs.

Love going to the dog park as well as taking my dog on the horse trails. She can be finicky about walking in the woods because her feet are sensitive, but the sand trails get her very excited. Friendly people who go really consistently, awesome little community.

My friend drove me and my dogs here today from Queens. It was well worth the drive. A beautiful, large space, great dogs and nice people. Jamie and Kat -- and their friend, Tarzan-- had a great time. The dogs are still exhausted more than 12 hours later.

I really love it here! Ample space, friendly regulars, & water available for the pups 👌 there is also a clean bathroom for humans!

Very horrible people here are so childish they are well over 30 and fighting with a 15 year old and 20 year old trying to take up all the space in the park just so we don’t get in they don’t watch their dogs they smoke weed without a care they pee and show all their business in front of a 15 year old and just make the place a mess and they like to act like they are the owners of the place kicking out people that they don’t like overall i wouldn’t recommend coming to this park

Great space. Alot of room to run.. met other GSPs there.. so far the owners have control of their dogs and pick up after them.. until the last time we went there was a Husky meet and one owner just let their dogs run rampant and some I saw not picked up after and some lady yelling cause her dog was picking fights with other dogs. So just dont go when there is a Husky meet.

My doggy had fun running around and meeting other dogs. It was clean and they’re donated pickup bags and water. The dogs were friendly.

Spacious, dogs here like rough play, dont bring a small dog, 35 lb min for safe play. People are cool, dogs were cool. Watch out for poopies.

This dog run needs to be updated and cleanedSuffolk county really needs to take care of this dog run. The seats for people are filthy. The ground is all wood chips.

The absolute worst place to take your dog!!I took my 1 year old 18 pound mini golden doodle there on a Monday afternoon in December 2021.Being a friendly dog she went over to say hi to a group of dogs and then lightly jumped up to say hi to one of the owners of a very large black dog. I quickly went over and told her to get down and immediately apologized to the person. He responded in a really rude cocky voice pointing a finger at me: “ don’t you worry. You’ll get yours too.. and soon.. you’ll see!” With that I quickly walked away with my puppy. His large dog immediately followed us bringing a group of other large, medium and small dogs. The group of dogs proceeded to surround me and jumped up on me pushing me down very strongly. Obviously this man knew that his dog was aggressive but did nothing to prevent this accident from happening. I had to crawl to my car and was driven to the doctor resulting in a broken ankle, leg and lower back! Ive been laid up for the past 6 months and in PT.I would NEVER take my dog there again. People do NOT attend nor watch their dogs as they are busy on their phones or socializing with other owners. So dangerous and horrible. I have since heard there have been other serious accidents there with dogs jumping and injuring people. Go at your own risk or just STAY AWAY!!!!

Took my pup to the large dog park today. He loved it and so did I. All of the dogs were so well behaved, everyone is friendly. Love it. I will definitely take him there again.

Decent dog area but extremely muddy in the wet/colder times of the year, similar to Eisenhower if youve been there. Owners here seem a bit more conscientious of their dogs. The one thing this place has going for it is the enclosed area is very large, so if your dog enjoys the big space for running then this is a good option.

We take our dog here all the time. Decent crowd most of the time. It could use some grass reseeding but its fine. The dogs are happy.

I love this dog run. This place is huge! There is alot of land for the dogs to have their own running space, there are water fountains, doggie bags, fully fenced in, and many trees in one section for some shade on a hot day, you can even go hiking there with your dog-as there are some trails. Just make sure you have tick prevention on your dog. Plenty of parking. Some people allow their smaller dogs in with the big ones since they wont bump into each other too much because of the large space. However, there is a separate area for small dogs.

Hands down the best dog park on Long Island. Running water for the dogs and the BIGGEST space you could possibly have. My dog loves to leg it out and this park lets her. Also plenty of benches and shade for us humans. Wish I lived closer

This dog park is BIG. A nice place for my puppy to run and get her exercise for the day. Like they say, A tired dog is a happy dog, my puppy always comes back tired and Happy. Only one caution is you need to be in close range of your dog/puppy because this place is huge and is filled with some amazing dogs.

Easy to see right off of Sweet Hollow Road servicing Huntington and the adjoining areas of Suffolk County. Plenty of parking and a wheelchair accessible entrance. Clean facilities. Public Restrooms. Great for all Dogs. Maintenance staff is good. We will most likely be going back.

This is a great park, my dog runs nonstop here and enjoys playing with the other dogs. I would LOVE if they would seed the lawn again. It has been dying off and they have NOT maintained it much. It would be so much better if it were lawn and not dirt.

My pup loved that he can roam off leash and I always take him on a short hike before or after. Everyone wins

Great dog run lots of space and very nice patrons. Been bringing our dog here for about 2 years. Usually will go to the run for about an hour then take to the trails, there are also a lot of geocaches in the area if you are into it.

Very muddy the day we were there. Some of the dogs we encountered there were a little aggresive and their owners were kind of lax about it... but we know full well that their attitude will change to indignation in the second where the much larger dog that their mutt is pestering loses its cool and retaliates... so we left the site before trouble started. I guess that big dog run is code for agressive pitbull mix run.

Great big park dog park- there are no poop bags make sure you bring your own! If your dog is working on coming when called you may want to wait on this dog run- its very big

Dog loves it here. Nice place for the dogs to run and play in well sized fenced area. There is a water fountain for the dogs. Lost and found is on the wood board by the entrance.

Big open park. Several acres. Always running water. Shady spots for hot summer days.

Such an awesome dog park. We all, the kids and the dog, had an excellent time! DO NOT GO IN THE BUSHES!!! I got a crazy rash from the poison ivy. Otherwise, it was a nice day.

Wonderful space and amenities. People always very nice. Plenty of seating on those hot days while the dogs run through wooded sections.

The people and dogs here are friendly. Its a good spot for your dog to socialize, play, and go for a run. There is also a watering station and picnic benches to relax by.

Park is large, has a water pump and some benches. People who bring their dogs here are terrible. They dont watch their dogs and there are a bunch of aggressive dogs. Only part i like really here is the trails around the area

Its a large, empty, fenced in patch of grass and dirt. People and dogs who I see regularly are nice. Sucks that they charge for parking once the weather gets nice.

The best. Great dogs and owners, my dogs love coming here to play. Very crowded on weekends though, we try to avoid busy times...

Most definitely not a toxic waste dump and is open now. Wonderful large double gated access and dirt/grass area with trees and brush as well

The grass is getting sparse but the dogs still have fun and there is a wooded area for them to romp. Also water is available.

Super convenient, always really nice people and friendly dogs. Clean and a Huge fenced in area for all the dogs.

The park is large and has water. I wish there could be more seating areas but also wood games for the dogs to run and climb. Just having a piece of fenced land is not technically a park…There were a couple of dogs jumping each other and the owners kinda didn’t care. Could be better

Great place to let your dog run and play

Huge park, only downfall there are a lot of toys. The owners bring frisbees and balls. Im against it because that causes problems. If you can find a time to go when there isnt anyone else there, go for it.

This is actually in my back yard so a no brainer for me. Gets a bit crowded at times and some dog owners lack respect for others either by not cleaning up or controlling their dogs.

Mostly clean but people have stopped picking up after their dogs.

Very nice place nothing there but the dog park but a park ranger sits there and harasses people for every little thing because he thinks or acts like a cop when he is no where close to any of that

My dog loves it here and it is a huge fenced in area. Only downside is your dog and you will be covered in mud when you leave.

My Ruby loves to run around and Interact with other dogs ( large dogs) their is a water fountain The people are really cool aswell. Its a gated community 😆. Today was plesent. Weekends can get a bit busy. Remember Dogs are like people not everybody gets along. I keep mine on the leash for a few minutes Just to make sure everythings cool.

Very large dog park, really could hold 100-200 dogs with room to run.

Closed indefinitely due to toxic dumping of asbestos and building materials. major environmental issues. dont expect this place to open again.

Great 4 small dogs, people are friendly, water for dogs & people.

This is the biggest dog run around. Dogs can really have a great time here and really get to run at full speed. There is running water, which is great. Bathrooms nearby for people. My only issue with this place is not everybody cleans up their dogs poo. Theres also a bunch of poison ivy in a few spots.

A great, safe space for our dog to play! This is the big dog park, for 25lbs and up! Well behaved pups and a clean play area!

Beautiful green area; today was my first day at this park and definitely wont be the last one. Perfect place for hiking. When you go deep into the park, its actually just you and nature.👍👍👍

This is the largest dog run I have ever been too. It is HUGE. There is a water fountain for both people and dogs and a few benches to relax on.Also, anyone looking for the actual hiking trail - its just behind the picnic area. Took me half an hour of driving before someone gave me directions

It’s dirty and little shade. Bench areas surrounded by dirt. Not well cared for.But there are very few dog parks to choose from.

Everything you need and expect. Water, toys, clean up bags, two entrances/exits. Not just dirt, actual grass. Unfortunately, not everyone cleans up after their dog, but its relatively clean.

You have to pay for it, absolutely ridiculous I pay enough taxes..
