I don’t know if my review posted. The Doctor and the staff are excellent. The Doctor and staff care very much about the pets. I recommend this Veterinary office to everyone.I must also say, The Doctor is a gift to all who bring their pets to get the most compassionate care any one can give. God bless the Doctor and his staff.

The staff was great. My bird was feeling sick and they took us in as a walk in on the same day. The doctor was very nice and an attentive, will definitely be taking my future pets for them to take care off.

Dr. Scandaglia is excellent!! He’s so good with my cats and dog, he’s very calm mattered and he’s brilliant with the way he handles my animals he calms them and is very gentle, caring and compassionate towards my babies. I’m so grateful for him!!

Dr Frank has been our family vet for over 20 years. He’s kind, smart, so patient and caring. He’s old school. If your pet is sick, the office will call to check on them. I have so much affection for him. When we put our first dog down, he was so caring and patient. Gave us so much time with her. He shed tears as he put her to sleep. Great vet. I bring my bird and chinchillas here! Scheduling is great because they usually have open slots available within a week. This morning I called right when they opened because I was worried my bird was sick. They told me to come in an hour later and it was a Saturday. I was so happy with how accommodating they were.Right now you still cant go in with your pets which is a bummer. But service is really fast. I recommend!

I took my cat here many years ago for an annual and vaccines, which was a breeze. I also had a pet gerbil and they took good care of her, but unfortunately I had to put her down because she was too sick to care for in my busy home & this office was able to do so at a good price.I recently needed my cat to have a foreign body surgery; all I had to do was send over all her records & that same day Dr.Frank was able to do the surgery; he was quick & amazing overall. There was no run around, it was straight forward. The price was affordable which was a big plus for me!The staff are nice, dont really talk much to you, except of course to give you the info you need for your pet.Small parking lot right in front of the office for maybe 3 cars, the rest is street parking. They take Care Credit & Visa.Highly recommend!Thanks Dr.Frank & Staff!

Dr. Scandaglia and his staff are the most caring and compassionate veterinary practice we have encountered in a long time. They gave us an honest assessment of our pet pigeons condition and did not subject her to unhelpful procedures. They have even called to check up on our pet which we really appreciate.

Dr. Scandaglia is very kind, patient, always has a smile. He is gentle, knowledgeable, informative. The staff is always very helpful, professional and very nice. My dog has been seeing him for 14 years so far, she was seeing him since she was born. My dog also trusts him and enjoys going to the doctor because he keeps her very comfortable.

Dr. Scandaglia is one of the kindest and knowledgeable veterinarians out there. His bedside manner is fabulous. He always has the answers and handles pets so gently. His calming presence helps so much in situations that can be very stressful when our furry and feathered friends need care. The staff is also always very kind and helpful.

Dr. Scandaglia and all of his staff treat their animal patients with gentleness, warmth, and effectiveness, which is why Ive brought my cats to him for many years. If youre just looking for the cheapest care, Im sure it can found elsewhere. To me, its been more important to know that my cats will always be treated as family.

Very caring and sweet staff helped me through a very difficult time 🤍 my cats passing.. I was also sent a beautiful sympathy card with my cats, fur which was very touching and thoughtful. I would definitely recommend you come here for all your vet /pet needs.

Called to make an apt for my dog whos having some irritations. The lady on the phone asked me what kind of pet I had and I told her a Rottweiler and she told me she has to ask the doctor. Then came back on the phone and told me the Dr said to go to the 24hr emergency vet instead. I didnt think this was emergency so I asked oh wow he thinks this is an emergency? because I was shocked and she said he cant see Rottweilers...... wttf? What vet office is breed discriminatory?? Yet I see a pitbull in the photo reviews so I dont understand.

Dr Scandaglia and staff are wonderful. I started coming here in October for my cat Felix, who is doing extremely well, and for my 19 year old cat Jake. The treatment, care and kindness are unmatched. No matter where I move, i will always come here for my pets. Thanks to you all for great care of my cats.

Dr. Scandaglia and his staff are exceptional! He has been taking care of my 2 Italian greyhounds for many years. My oldest is 18yrs old and my younger is 5. I wouldn’t think of taking them anywhere else. He gives his honest assessment but never pressures you, only offers options and approx pricing when asked. In the end it’s the owners decision. He is kind, gentle and caring. He is truly a wonderful caregiver to all animals.To the comment of “taking peoples hard earned money”…vet bills are expensive and as the owner you should have done your research. I have a close friend that captures stray cats and he helps her with neutering and spaying. He works with her at a discounted price. I’m sure he would have worked with you IF YOU ASKED. But instead you want to trash his name and services on a Google review. Shame on you for not doing your homework. Word of advice: check the reviews on the big chain stores before bringing your animal, good luck!

My daughters dog has several health issues, stemming from her time as an abandoned puppy before she was rescued. Island Vet Group was willing to do a couple of very needed surgeries on her in spite of her vulnerabilities and shes doing great!!! Now if they could just find a way to stop her from shedding ...

Sorry for the late review! Had to take my bird here after he sprained his foot. I was a little nervous since I never went to a vet before! Doctor Scandaglia and his wonderful staff made the experience quick and painless! He quickly diagnosed the problem and assured us everything would be okay! Dr. Scandaglia is a wonderful Dr. My cat never liked going to the doctor, but after every visit with him, she always seemed happy. He also kind of looks like Santa Claus.

I am so happy that I found this place for my little one. After being told that my dog will need to do surgery for an umbilical hernia after 6 years of going to the same practice we found it off that this wasn’t mentioned before.I did some research, found this practice and Dr. Frank was so kind and informed us that my dog in fact does not need surgery at all, and his umbilical hernia has healed by itself.Saved us time, money and most of all our precious one from going through a surgery.Thank you so much Dr. Frank , we are forever grateful and will be returning back for my dogs’ vaccination/medication.

The doctor is kind, caring and extremely knowledgeable. A combination that is very hard to find nowadays. So look no further and schedule your appointment today. Your pet will be in great hands. I highly, highly recommend. He is also one of the few doctors that see exotic animals such as guinea pigs.

A wonderful service that provided rapid and precise answers to questions I had regarding my cockatiel. While I was waiting in the parking lot, I noticed that all the dogs entering and leaving the building seemed eager to be there. Its as though the pets themselves know that theyre in for a good time. A routine check up was around $70 which is fair given the detailed analysis they give of your pet. Ill definitely be frequenting this vet in the future.

Dr. Scandaglia and his staff have been absolutely amazing since we started bringing our puppy to them. The care and professionalism is unmatched. We ask a lot of questions since we are new owners as a family and they all take the time with a smile no matter what the question is to answer us and calm our worries. Dr Scandaglia and his lovely staff are the most caring and compassionate people I have met. Very knowledgeable with birds and helped our Guinea pig get better. We have two chihuahuas and he is just so good with both of them especially our 3lb chihuahua because she is very difficult to deal with. When I went here for my Sulcata Tortoise Myrtle in January when my primary vet didn’t have appointments available, Dr. Scandaglia was very kind and professional on how he treated her and how he listened to me and advised me how to treat her, staff was also very kind and even called me back to answer a question I asked and didn’t have the answer at the timeDefinitely a vet added to my list for all of my reptiles.

Such an amazing vet, so caring, always does a thorough exam of my guinea pigs, I have been to another vet office and they did not do this. The office staff is wonderful, they always call in to check to see how my guinea pigs are doing. I would highly recommend Dr. Scandaglia and Staff to everyone. I have been taking my cats to Island Bird & Animal Vet Services on Manor Road for over close to twenty years!I have only had the best experiences with all the staff and all the doctors on staff are wonderful, kind, understanding and caring to you and your pets needs.I always feel that my cats are getting the best care possible, illness, spay, medicine, special tests, foot or just a quick question, you are always treated very well.I highly recommend you take your pets in for a checkup and you will agree with me also.

Great service for a feral cat that was trapped in back yard.

We have used several different veterinarians, as we have a special needs dog. We kind of found Dr. Frank by Accident when we were googling so we gave it a shot. After the first visit, it was a no brainer that we would make the switch to here. The entire staff is so nice and caring. They actually call just to ask how your pet is doing and if there’s any questions. Other vets seem to rush you out of the office and don’t wanna be bothered after charging a crazy amount. The prices here are fair , and Dr. Frank is great. I recommend this place to everyone that has an animal, you won’t be disappointed

The staff is so sweet and caring. Dr. Scandaglia is a great vet. He was gentle with our dog because he was so scared. They always give a follow up call to see how your fur baby is doing.

I have have several pets, but my one conure is just a constant concern because of beak and foot issues, so I am at this office more than my own doctors lately. Dr. Scandaglia is an amazing veterinarian. He really takes a time to make sure that youre comfortable with the care your pet is receiving and your animal is comfortable and treated well. I have never had more confidence in someone caring for my pets. I would recommend this office to anyone.

If you have a bird, DO NOT TAKE THEM HERE! I brought my bird in for an xray. Got her back with a bent toe and a broken wing. If this is how I got my bird back, Id be cautious of bringing my dog or cat here. I had called with my concern when I got her back and there was no responsibility taken. So my advice would be to avoid this vet at all costs.

Dr. Scandaglia and his team are awesome. They are compassionate, sincere, and understanding. My Xena needed an emergency amputation on her tail and my family was flying into town. Dr. Scandaglia did the surgery for HALF of the price of the emergency vet and had phenomenal bed side manner. 11/10 would recommend.

I first used this vets office because the offer steeply discounted feral trapped cat spay & neuter, so I know they care about our community and its animals. To support this office, I started taking my domesticated cat to them too. It is a very nice, calm, clean friendly vets office. Their hours are convenient and I always get a good, professional vibe when I go there.

Just took my parakeet here today for an emergency pin feather bleed. The whole visit took maximum 15 minutes and the vet was very kind and courteous. Answered all my questions and gave some helpful advice. They were also very transparent about the prices and only charged me the base visit fee despite the treatment done. Will definitely be back for checkups here!

My husband took our African fire skink here within the past two weeks for trouble opening his eyes & staying out of his dirt, seeming to bask- completely abnormal. All Im going to say is we are furious & disgusted with the clear lack of examination that lead to today. My husband said they didnt even open his mouth to check inside, & no further testing or anything was recommended. Not even a stool sample to test for parasites. No other advice given besides what I wrote below.Today, we find our skink laying upside-down, dead, with no eyes. NO EYES. He obviously had something serious going on & probably suffered this whole entire time, until he died. Eye ointment & warm baths, re-check in 3 weeks if no improvement. Thats what we were told. Thats it.We lost a family member today, in a gruesome & horrific way. Someone needs to be held responsible.

The best place to have your pet taken care of in Staten Island.!!. DR. SCANDAGLIA was extremely attentive and took care of our cat. There caring, they follow up and the staff is very professional and you can see they genuinely love pets! I Highly recommend this office!!

This vets office is honestly the best Ive ever been to, They were super friendly and nice and didnt freak out when I brought in my pet rat for a visit, The wait wasnt long and was very swift, The doctor checked out my little boy and prescribed a great medication for my baby and the nurse was playing and petting my rat giving him lots of love, Super friendly service I honestly do recommend going there!! I will be visiting again with my other pets for sure!! 5/5!!I just had another emergency visit for my other rat with a URI and once again wonderful service! We were in and out and my ratty is on the road to recovery!

We had to put our beloved dog Zoey to sleep this past week, which was an incredibly difficult experience as she was truly one of a kind and a valued member of our family. Dr Scandaglia and his staff were so compassionate to our family and our beautiful dog, that they even sent a condolence card with personalized memorial cards, her paw prints, a locket of her fur, and a touching poem. They went above and beyond to demonstrate that they truly see pets as valued members of family rather than being in this business for money. I can not thank them enough for making a very difficult time a little easier. Absolutely beautiful souls working there!

From our first initial phone call the staff was helpful and friendly. They took the time with use to answer all our questions and concerns. When we brought our bunny into be spayed the office was clean and very well maintained. The Doc himself was super nice and did a great job with our little nugget. He even spent some extra time aswering a few unrelated questions for us regarding our bunny. She is since healed up and back to her funny binking bunny self.

Well as time has it, ever since I was a toddler, I had pets parakeets, dogs, horses. Now six decades later, psst Im 75 and my friend Karens 67. These days as tears blur the vision of ones eyes and pathways with pets. Karens budgie parakeet was not up to par as a 2 and half year old. We took to this gentile warm-hearted Avian bird specialist. Who provided us with step by step actual great weight, heart beat, color, and muscle movement. However as it said the tooth ache doesnt show when we go to our dentist. Now Skylar as birds do, they dont show their malladiess.we took skylar home last week. All was well until last night. Today I came into SI, picked up Karen and Skylar and drove to Island Bird and pet clinic. The office, employees and Doctor welcomed us with open arms, heart and Soul with a mind of knowledge and experience teaching us. Immediately we took tests for more than an hour. Even a times visual eye test was performed and the sign showed a mild stroke (could be inherited DNA, a collision in flight, salts some where, even cages enamel, bird toys, and even small bird foods for parakeets and canaries. Who know what we touch and now a plethora of ailments transmitted with this covid introduction and human captivating germs and more. So all went and taught us all to be on guard. Now other pet places feel parakeets are not considered like, cats, dogs, horses, Parrots or any other exotic bird. This doctor gave the blurry eyes of ours and un focused a warm so long, no charge, great advice, a path to follow and feelings that island bird is our home whenever needed, bono saluti island bird and pet clinic, wow free tests, factual results, heres to you. Making it bershadt, baroukh a shem thank you G-D and thanks for wonderful people during these trying times, Just for today, G-D grant me the serenity..........accept..... courage.....wisdom to know. Thanks

We had to euthanize our bird because it had severe health problems and Dr Scandaglia personally called me to comfort me. Not only that; they also send me a postcard. I can say that its not only business to them - they truly care about animals!

Cant say enough about Dr. Scandaglia and his staff. They are the most caring and compassionate people Ive ever met. Dr. Scandaglia has been caring for my pets for over 15 yrs. Everything from broken thumb nails to IBS. Hes the best.His prices are fair and service cant be beat. My dogs are always so excited to see him because they love and trust in him.

I agree with Nina. I too was overcharged for my dogs shots. I made an appointment for my dogs vaccination shots on the Low Cost Vaccination Clinic day, requesting only the Dog Package for $129.00. When I went to pay, I was charged $179. I was shocked at the charge and questioned the receptionist. She told me that I received the Deluxe Dog Package. I told her I did not ask for it. My appointment was only for the Dog Package, and she replied (exactly) well you got it. I will never return to this practice again. Please do not reply to me that you are sorry about my financial troubles. I do not have financial troubles. Do not advertise low cost vaccinations if you cannot stand behind them. I rather think it may be you having financial difficulty.

Always so skeptical when it comes to doctors whether for myself or my angel pup. I first visited Dr. Scandaglia when we moved from Brooklyn to Staten Island. He gave our 6 year old poodle an exam and then we scheduled to have his teeth professionally cleaned. Dr. Scandaglia did an AMAZING job. My little angel looked and felt fine the next day- no problems whatsoever!We will be using Dr. Frank form now on.

Dr. Scandaglia and his team are great! Very clean, never have to wait long for my appointment, and they are all genuinely good people. Dr. Scandaglia has been great with all my pets over the past 20 years.

We love Dr. Scandaglia and Dr. Max and so does our dog Scooter. Dr. Scandaglia is so caring and he has taken care of Scooter since he was a little baby 11 years ago. Dr. Max has seen Scooter on one occasion when Dr. Scandaglia was not in and he didn’t miss a beat and he treated Scooter like he was his own baby dog. We would not feel comfortable going anywhere else for regular visits and care.

I Love Dr. Scandaglia ( hope I spelled it correctly)I brought my African Grey to him,among my other birds, but She was Special, I had recently got her from a friend, she was severely plucking....and she had Ecoli.....That was treated, and that was months ago.....Since,with help of the Dr.s advice, She doesnt pluck anymore, shes happy and her feathers are slowly coming back. Im thrilled !!I cant wait to bring her in,for a grooming and show him the before and after....Great Pet Doctor, Great Staff...Im so glad I found him !!! Heres the before and now....What a difference ! ☺️

My family have been bringing our dogs to Island Bird Cat & Dog Vet Group for many years. Dr. Scandaglia and staff offer exceptional care. They truly care for the health of our dogs. They explain exactly what is needed to maintain the health of our dogs and offer options for treatment. Our dogs have been with Dr. Scandaglia since pups. Theyve been in surgery for spaying and for tumor growths. Our family trusts Dr. Scandaglia and staff with the welfare of our canine family members. I will never forget the compassion Dr. Scandaglia showed when our oldest dog, Oreo, was suffering. I would high recommend them for pet health care and for boarding too. You will not find a quality, caring and compassionate veterinarian on Staten Island.

My hamster was very ill. This is the only small animal vet. He told us he had cancer and we ended up putting him to sleep because he couldnt breathe and was bleeding. The staff was friendly verry kind regarding the situation. They do give you the option to get back all of your pets ashes at the end. The vet was nice he has a lot of experience they do have a little parking area which is nice. Its a small practice but I would definitely go back.

I switched vets and, I am really happy. I did, my dog has arthritis and he was prescribed a weekly treatment unfortunately, I lost my job and couldnt keep that treatment and, I was afraid he would be in pain again, I explain my situation to the Dr. and he recommended me to give some alternative vitamins and also a few physical restrictions to avoid any damage to my dogs hip and it worked, I still see him limping a little when is really cold but, he seems perfect he is happy and I am as well, the Dr. and the staff are great, the prices are very affordable and they dont try to sell or offer services that arent need it.

Our pet hamster needed to get their front teeth trimmed. We called for an appointment & was given the next day. The work was done & our hamster was back to us in 15 minutes. It was a great experience & I would definitely recommend them to others.

Called for an emergency for my bunny and even though he was booked for the day they let me bring my bunny in. And they saw him immediately. They were kind and understanding and reasonable rates for an exotic vet. 10/10 would recommend.

Very compassionate Doctor and staff. Some services are pricey but not unreasonable. I have come with minor scares that turned out to be nothing. I was not charged for those visits. Its great not to have financial fears about asking questions.

I am deeply sad about this. I took my canary to you because he stopped singing. You diagnosed him with cataracts. Lugie was healthy otherwise. You suggested I keep his dishes in the same spot. You always treated me and my birds with the highest level of professionalism. Thank you.

Couldn’t find a vet in my area to serve my sick cockatiel that day. Happened to stumble upon Island Bird Cat & Dog vet on google. Staff was very nice and helpful. Dr. Spandaglia was so informative and explained everything so simply to us. I didn’t expect such a good experience. It was relief to know what was actually wrong with our bird and by following Dr. Spandaglia’s advice i am happy to say that our bird is recovering just fine. Thank you so much!! I would give them 10 stars if I could.

I have been dealing with Island Bird vet group for over 15 years. I had gone to other Vet practices over the years, but found that Island Bird to be among the very best ! I can bring my animals there with confidence that there is a concerned helpful staff and reliable conscientious vets such as Dr. Scandaglia to answer my questions and treat my animals. Cleanliness is also a concern and their office is spotless.I read the other two reviews and find that one was very unfair. It seems to me that although this person, is a TNR person and helps control the over population of felines here on the island , she seems to want everything for free.I know that Island Bird has run an extremely reasonable spay neuter clinic for strays ,and I know Dr. Scandaglia does a lot of extras such as 20% off if you are TNR certified .I have never heard of any other vet group offering This perk,this is done out of the kindness of the Dr. Scanaglias own heart. Since over population of felines are a great concern Dr. Scandaglia has started this low cost stray spay and neuter clinic for TNRs to aid these selfless people in their endeavors to help keep the overpopulation of Felines down.I applaud vets such as Dr. Scandaglia for their selfless efforts in aiding the efforts of the TNR community.My family and friends (who also do TNR) would like to thank the Doctor and his staff for all their fine work and care given to our four legged and feathered family members .Keep up the great work.Thanks again!

I love Dr. Scandaglia, hes caring, quick, and is always on point. I have been going to him for years with my bird and dog. All of his staff is wonderful and caring!

We were recommended this place by a close friend who had been a long-time relationship with the establishment. We were looking for a place that would handle our family with the dignity and respect we expect from a place like this. But upon entering, it smelled like a zoo, the food was non-existent, and the wait staff had confused faces whenever I tried to order something. Parking lot is small, must call for reservations.

Not recommended. Highly discriminatory. SUPER Arrogant.Of course, I am neither Sir nor Madam. Not sure which elderly gentleman or someones grandma youre referring to.

Dr. Scandalized is by far the best vet Ive had! He is caring & treats your pet as he would his very own & he is genuinely a nice person, which shows in how nice & helpful his staff is also !

RIP OFF! Took my dog for her annual exam and it cost over $450. Which seems absolute obsured.... while researching today I found you can get all the same shots for under $100 if you schedule through Petco. They also rip you off through the special food that is recommended. If you order online it is less expensive than if you go through their office. How that makes sense is beyond me? Cant believe he is ripping people off for their hard earned money.

The best care, especially if you have a bird (hard to find a good avian vet). Dr. Scandaglia really cares and knows so much about birds, and the office staff is very helpful as well.

I took my pet Guinea Pig and he gave him a thorough examine. He shared a lot of information about Guinea Pig. I had gone to two vets and my Guinea Pig was on antibiotics for Upper Respiratory. He was the only one yo prescribed Probiotics. He explained the reason why he should be using this medication. I live in Far Rockaway it was worth the trip. The receptions are so professional and sweet. Thank you guys

I came in with my bird because I realized she is acting funny and not being her normal self also realized she stopped eating and the doc. said that she is perfectly fine 2 weeks later she died......then a month has passed over her death and I got a letter receiving it’s time for ******** check up

Over charges on all medication took animal for an ear infection was told it was an ear infection. Then only given enough medication for seven days so we could bring the animal back and be charged another office visit and for more medication, muzzled my animal because it was crying and they were afraid. Terrible

Came highly recommended The staff is courteous and pleasant. The prices are reasonable. The office is clean. They answered any questions you may have. You can tell they really care about the animals here.

Im very pleased with todays visit. It was cockatiels first vet visit and I was so anxious for the both of us. The Dr was very delicate handling my baby and made sure I had all my questions answered. Will definitely come back here if needed. All the staff here is very friendly.

Dr. Scandaglia and the entire team at Island Bird Cat & Dog are awesome! I moved to Jersey and still bring my dog here. I’ve luckily never had to address anything major with my dog (and hopefully never do have to) but their overall service, bed/car side (still no visitors allowed inside due to COVID protocols, which I’m ok with) manner and attention are unmatched. Pricing seems fair with the attention and care you receive (always receive follow up calls the next dayto check in). I would strongly suggest bringing your furry loved ones to them!
