Silver Lake Dog Run

Fun place to visit. Besides being able to take nice pictures, the staff is really nice and they have really creative activities to keep you entertained. The museum ticket also includes free ice creams and deserts that you get to eat during your visit. The ball pit is really really fun, haven’t been in one since I was a kid.

Its muddy and not every dog owner takes responsibility for their dogs. Throw in a doggy buffet and its almost dog heaven. Lol. No its good for what it is, just keep your eye off your phone and on your dog and everything will be ok. Make sure to bring water for your pooch because the water fountain is not only outside the gates but its turned off most of fall and Winter

What can I say, this is one of the most beautiful parks in this part of the Island. Not too crowded and very well maintained . We are so fortunate to live near by as a walk or a run through the park helps to calm and relax your mind and provide the needed excersise at the same time. Thanks very much for keeping this park great.

The three separate dog areas are great. There are some older dog toys and poop bags which is great

Unfortunately, I had to change my reading, because dog owners don’t seem to understand that they need to control the dogs and not let their dogs hump other dogs especially when it’s scaring my dog. I asked the guy more than once to control his dog, and he actually told me to take his dog off of my dog. Totally inappropriate I would not bring my dog there. It’s like a gladiator ring.

This dog run is awful. Loaded with huge holes that present a real hazard for dogs and their owners. It is also filthy. I stopped going there months ago and now pay a $17 toll to go to the pristine and well-maintained dog park in Bayonne. Its a shame that my taxpayer money is not being used to take care of the dog runs at Silver Lake and I have to travel to New Jersey for a safe place for my dog to get the exercise she needs Shame on you NYC Parks Dept.

I have to say the dog park could use updating. There is nothing there for the dogs. Although, I have meet many nice people there.

A beautiful walkway, where you see people and walk and enjoy the weather the amazing grass and trees that blooms during summertime its really nice

Silver lakes is pretty good on off peak times. In late afternoons and evenings there are a lot of dogs. The issue with that is a lot of owners. There are a few that believe they have more privileges than others.. snooty.. otherwise its a good run.There is one large yard and two separated smaller yards. In warmer weather there are water fountains a little bit of a walk away. In winter they are off. I always bring my own for my dogs.Lastly... after a rain or snow melt.. all the runs turn into mud flats. Be sure to bring towels and cover your car seats. It gets muddy.

It’s divided into 3 double-gated pens with gates between so incompatible groups of dogs can be kept apart or at least gradually introduced. Mostly visited by responsible and friendly dog owners with well-socialized dogs. Can get very muddy in wet weather, especially where the gates are.

I love this park. Very dog friendly and the neighborhood people always clean up and are responsable for their dogs and their actions. The people who come in on the weekends are not as dog conscience and dog fight and no one does anything to break it up. Dog park etiquette is big dog in the big run. Smaller dog s in the end and unpredictable dog in the middle. Always ask if its OK to bring tour dog in when other dog are in the run. Always take the leash off in the area from initial entry. Dog will often become aggressive to other dog on a leash. This goes for departing also. Leash the dog in the exit Pen not in the run. Beware of turkey faces. Dogd will get very sick from it and love to eat it. Their is a 350 fine for dogs off leash outside the run.lots of rabbits too

Serene and fun. A large clean area. I enjoy my time there when I rollerbladed.

This park was recommended by another small dog owner, because it had several pens for different size dogs. It was great to let our puppy run free, but there were many very LARGE dogs in another pen and their owners had to keep separating them from fighting. The big dogs could very easily jump the fence, so we left quickly. Wish the gates that separated the areas were higher.

Its a great place to take your dog but if it is raining or snowing or has in the past few days then be prepared to wash your dog right after taking them to the dog run. Its pure dirt there is little to no grass or mulch. Would get 5 stars if it had mulch.

Dog run was like any other. The dogs and the parents are very friendly. Im just starting to socialize my dog and the other dogs as well as the parents made it a good experience. I will definitely go back

Very nice place for dog run. The place is dividend three zone for small, medium and large size dogs which is a very smart thought!!. Wish Clove Lake park also have the same design for dog run!!

My little girl always has a good time here. Just gets SO muddy every time it rains. But plenty of space for the dogs with three separate areas.

Dog park with 3 separate fenced-in areas. Water for dogs is extremely difficult to acquire as fountains are not turned on yet. Ground is severely eroded leaving a very hard, stone ladened surface that floods whenever it rains.

So many different dogs and personalities. There are 3 gated areas for dogs to enter depending on their size. The people who bring their dogs are usually regulars and the dogs are very familiar with one another.

Great for walk, run, and play. Playground for little ones. Nice views. If there were public restrooms and recycle bins it would be a 5 star experience

Ample space, just wish theyd keep up on the grass. My dog also got Kennel cough from here 😒 maybe some pesticides and anti bacterial treatment would be nice!

Fishing is better then clove lake yet again bass Fishing could be better like be able to fish around the whole lake including the Rocky places by standing on them

I usually run here. Amazing park. Very few people, well lit, and nicely landscaped. A slice of bucolic ground in Staten Island.

Only the lake fence is not secure to keep children out. Need more supervision to keep the public safe.

People werent friendly and clearly did not know any thing about dog behavior, they left the run when I entered with my pup and I didnt want to torture my pup while the group of dogs played on the other side of the fence so I left and when I did, they re-entered the dog run....really?

Take my dog here quite often. Good walking spot. He loves playing with the other dogs. Great for socializing. There are occasionally some dogs that aren’t spayed/neutered and the owners bring them while in heat which causes fights among the dogs. I’ve run across this a few times. Now we just shorten our time at the dog park and explore more of Silver Lake park.

A mesmerizing Park in the heart of the island

Great park to bring your dog but people need to be more aware of their dogs. Don’t let your 80 pound dog jump on top of my 10 pound dog and scare her and I to death. I have had to pull big dogs off my dog and be scared I might get bitten because the owners aren’t watching their dog. They are on their phone.

Its a bit muddy. We had to give my dog a bath after we got home. She was really muddy but she had a great time. There are 2 or 3 caged in areas as well which is nice. It offers a lot of space.

The people and dogs at the dog park were really great and welcomed us and our dog. The park itself could use a water fountain for the dogs. Bring water for your dog if you go.

This should be better maintained I don’t like the fact there is so much grass missing, and my dog ends up leaving all dirty. But it’s nice for her to be out and interact with the other dogs.

This is a great park to go for a walk, but the dog run itself is in need of lots of work. If this werent the only (publicly known) dog run in the area Im sure most people would choose to go elsewhere. For starters the dog run gets very muddy after it rains. The place gets so much dog traffic that grass has trouble growing so even during the summer the place is mostly dirt (or mud!). Secondly, there are no bathrooms in the park. The water fountains are shut off for the winter so from October to April you will have to bring a water bottle for your dog. The fences are pretty low so if youre dog is a jumper or climber you need to keep an eye out. Also puppies and other small dogs can easily crawl under the fences. And the run isnt large enough for greyhounds and similar breeds to run full speed, for most other dogs though the large section is big enough for them to sprint in.The dog run itself is pretty meh, but the regulars and their dogs are great (especially Prego the overly vocal German Shepherd). People here share their water, clean up after their dogs and wont hesitate to leave the dog run if their dog isnt getting along too well weird the others.
