For an urban setting this place is awesome plenty of room for both large and small dogs to run and play with each other. has porta potty. also has separate drinking fountains for the dogs. decent parking. right in the middle of a park. what more can you and your little guys want?
Nice dog park on the shore of Lake Erie in downtown Buffalo. Lots of parking, a rain shelter at the back and running water for the warmer months. Friendly humans also.
Fantastic yet simple dog park! Small and big dog areas. Poop baga available and two covered garbage bins near entrance. Great pup drinking station. Nice chairs and benches set about for resting while the canine party continues.
This is a decent place to let your dog run unleashed inside a fenced-in area within the City of Buffalo. Its on the waterfront, so dress accordingly for the weather. The entrance area has a safe area to leash/unleash before entry/exit.It does get muddy because of use, but it is a large grass area. There is no swimming pool here, but an occasional puddle happens. Those plastic bags you have stuffed in the corner from shopping are needed here. They have large mailboxes you can put them in so we can pick up the ya know what we might step in. There is a Johnny next to the parking area if you need it.There are two sections of the park, big dog & little dog. You can meet other dog-parents, talk about your furkids, and just enjoy the breeze off the lake. You can bring your kids fave toy, but dont be surprised if everyone wants to join the fun!The water fountain is turned off for the winter, so bring a dish and water for your pup.
Nice park with a few shaded areas and plenty of places to sit. People are always kind here. I like the option of a small dog and big dog area, as well as running water on both sides. I come here at least twice a week.
It is lovely here. Very clean and well supplied. With bins, water stations and even a few new tennis balls laying around. We were the only ones on the small dog side, but thats how Willow likes it!
This is One of the most Awesome Places Buffalo has for Unleashed Dogs, cant wait to see the new site soon, 💕 it and your canine companion will too.
Fun place to bring and watch the dogs, especially on a sunny warm day. The dogs really enjoy running around, exercising, and playing.
There where lots of dogs to play with big and small. Only down side for me was lots of people dont pick up after there dogs.
Beatrix had a blast here! Enjoyed the balls, the other dogs, and playing in a big hole in the small dog park! 😂 Plenty of parking across the street and a party potty is there too.
Lots of fun for dogs all sizes. It was very roomy and well kept. People were friendly. My dog had a blast playing here.
Love this place, water always works, grass is almost always cut, dogs (and people) behave very well. Its the perfect spot to take my elderly beagle/bassett/spaniel mix to sniff around for an hour. He only enjoys the small dog side and he doesnt like to play, but he loves to explore off leash and sniff everything.
I bring my puppy here weekly. He loves it! I always meet new people, and my puppy loves meeting new dogs. They separate the big and small dogs so that’s great!
This place is huge and is surrounded by water so the dogs can only go swimming on either side and cant escape. You cross a bridge to get there and there is the usual double fence enclosure where you can take your dog off the leash. Once you enter, its an absolute pup paradise! I love bringing my dog here and meeting up with other dog owners so our little guys can play. Definitely the best dog park Ive seen in WNY. Worth the 25 minute drive from the city for us!
Nice dog park, beautiful views, but people bring unfixed dogs and toddlers all the time.
Well, its still bring-your-own-water for your dog n yourself. N its still a swamp n/or mud pit in the lower area, n the dogs love it, so deal with it. Maybe someone in charge would please dump a truckload of used wood chips into the swamp? But the dogs love running free!
This place is a good spot to let the dogs run around, right on the water with a nice breeze. Its really nice that it has a water station for the dogs and they have separate sides for small vs big dogs. Only problem with the place is that sometimes people bring in dogs that dont behave with others or tend to be aggressive, causing fights to happen. Dogs are also supposed to be fixed (excluding puppies) to go in, but that rule is commonly ignored and also results in more fights. Usually pretty good behavior on weekdays, but weekends tend to be more sketchy.
This was our first visit to the Barkyard. Our dog is a German Shepherd who was a rescue from a puppy mill where she was used as a breeder. We wanted to socialize her with other dogs ,as she is a bit timid. There was one dog there who was quite happy to see her. He was about 9 months old and very playful. He managed to get her to play and she had a wonderful time. The downside of this place is that no one seems to pick up after their dogs. It was full of landmines. On another note it is great that there are two areas , one for big dogs and one for small. Unfortunately, a woman with an approximately 25 lb. dog came into the big dog side, and was anxious because my 65 lb dog wanted to play with hers. I dont understand why she did this when the other side was empty. All in all, my dog enjoyed herself and is learning to be a normal, happy dog, so we will go again.
Used to love it but they need to do some work there... There are 2 or 3 big putrid puddles and the grass is above my ankles. Not keeping the grass mowed encourages dog owners to not clean up. A little help with these couple issues would rocket my experience to a 5 star.
Not bad dog park near the beautiful waterfront. Could be mowed/Cleaned up MORE by whoever runs it. Took about 2 months (literally) for very noticeable leak from the dog fountain to be fixed! I cannot imagine all the water wasted!! I like they have two separate sections one for big dogs and one for small. MOST people are pretty good at following that.
Brought my nutty Malinois for the first time here and he had a blast! 99% of the other dogs were very well behaved with minor corrections, its very clean, not too sure if they provided poop bags so definitely bring your own, and just watch your dog
Nice little grassy dog park with separate area for little dogs (< 30lbs) and a large area for larger dogs. Open Dawn to Dusk (like LaSalle Park). Has water fountain for the doggies and benches for humans. Can be chilly due to the winds off the water at times. Usually busiest right after normal working hours (4:30-6:30).
Nice dog park! Its open access, a large area for dogs to run - theres one small dog side and one all sizes side. There is also a water fountain for the dogs. Friendly people too. I recommend!
Water fountains were not on yet, so bring your own water for now. Also, there are definitely dogs there that AREN’T fixed, which is not supposed to be allowed, and it causes major problems for some dogs. More signs need to be posted and they should also let people know on their Facebook page. Also, people walk their dogs on leashes which is NOT what this park is for. Dogs act differently when on a leash. The park is just fine, it’s the irresponsible owners I have a problem with.
It is a very nice and good sized dog park with separate areas for both smaller and larger dogs. It can get quite muddy so be sure to only go during dry times or frozen times. During the week is the best time to go. On weekends, youll occasionally run into some meathead owners and their untrained, sometimes unfixed, troublesome dogs.
Great place for dogs to burn energy, lots of room to run. Could use a few more benches for the humans. We like it because you can go for a nice walk through LaSalle Park before or after visiting the Barkyard.
Great place to let the dog run around and play, but bring a coat because the wind from the lake can be very chilly. In the hot summer months it is amazing. It can also be quite muddy depending on the time of year/recent weather, so be prepared to have a happy, dirty dog.
Its the only fenced in dog park in the City of Buffalo. It isnt very large, but large enough for dogs to run freely. There is 2 sections to the park, 1 area for dogs 10lbs. it appears to be kept clean, and its right by the water front. The only downside is the early spring and late fall, the ground can tend to be muddy.
Nothing special. Its a good place in regards to its geography to be able to take your dog to an enclosed space. However, I have seen alot of people bringing unfriendly dogs who arent trained at all and have seen a few fights there.
Went here about 2 months ago with my German Shepherd mix for socialization when she was 4 months old and it went great! She was timid for the first 20 minutes but started playing with another dog. Friendly people there as well. Definitely will be going again soon. Piece of advice though, wear old clothes because the ground there is extremely muddy! 😊
A great dog park, plenty of space and split into two sides to allow for small dogs to be separated from the big dogs. You do occasionally get owners who bring dogs that are not suited for the dog park. Though those instances have happened less often lately.
Park itself seems ok, two large areas for dogs to run in for varying sizes and provided watering and poop bags. However as usual beware of irresponsible owners, another party showed up and their dog bit a small portion of my puppys ear off
My dogs are so happy when they come to play and make new friends and greet old ones. there are two big yards one for small dogs and the other for big dogs. The bigger yard has some mud puddles. So Im often prepared to go to the dog wash.
Great dog park until the woman with the dog that took a chunk outta my great Danes ear. Tryed to get your info ( you know who you are) you drove off. YOU AND YOUR DOG NEED TO STAY OUT OF ALL DOG PARKS!!! was told by other not the first time you been problem. Thank you to the ladies that helped me stop his ear from bleeding.
Went for the first time today! My dog had a blast. This is an awesome fenced off area right in the city. Couldnt ask for more. Even has a water station for the pups!
Large dog park with plenty of space for many dogs. Good view of the lake but it can get really windy in the colder months. Bring gloves, even in spring and fall!
Great place with good shade and big place. Definitely would recommend it for your dogs.
Great open dog park to visit with your furry friends! Honestly one of my fav in the area. Always have atleast a few pups
Finally we were able to take cash to checkout this “ off leash “ that I had read about since we moved here and we were not disappointed.Beautiful views and lots of wide open space to run and play, there was only a couple of other dogs there but because our spoiled little baby doesn’t socialize with anyone but us he wasn’t interested in having anything to do with going anywhere but next to us, hopefully we will be able to get out more now and he will become a bit more sociable but this is a great park idea with water benches and more.
I love taking my dog to this place, it’s clean and he always has fun. I only gave it 4 stars because nobody knows how to listen to the rules about the dogs having to be fixed. Other than that it’s awesome, the dogs are super friendly
Towards the water lies a beautiful multiuse park. In this park is two fenced in yards for dogs to play and frolick. With two areas, one for bigger dogs and one for smaller, it is perfect for dogs of all sizes.Truly a blessing
Im a frequent user with my dog Tico of The Barkyard. The conditions of the yard r getting worse n worse every year. Just a few years ago when there was a small patch of mud, I wondered why it was not fenced off with temporary fencing n seed applied , even weed seed tu preserve the surface. Now the mud has taken over more than half the All Dog half. I wish this condition would be addressed n improved. The other week I met a couple who just discovered the Barkyard n said they were going th a place in Lockport. I dont know where they r from but a park in good condition will be a good message tu all city n visitors.
Always had a good experience here!Just wanted to give people the heads up that this has moved temporarily to 4th st behind the stadium while they are working on construction!
This is an ok park. Big dog and little dog side. There is room to run around and play. I prefer somewhere with paths to walk which is why this is not asking my favorite parks but its decent for an everyday park.
We loved this park, but we visited today (5-Aug-23) and its closed for construction. Does anyone know if its moved to a temporary location, and if so where/ Thanks!
Finally a place where your pets can run free and have loads of fun. All the pet owners have been so kind and respectful to everyone and to keeping the park is such clean conditions.
We love it here in the summer because its close to the water and the large trees provide great shade for humans and dogs alike.
A essential tool for dog enrichment.Always other canines and less human trouble down there almost zero since most of those antisocial folk dont come down anymore. Water supply available cant go wrong.
Great off leash park with a view of Lake Erie and ample parking. Bonus is the water fountain for the dogs in the summer.
Ample parking, lots of friendly dogs. Theyve got fresh water and keep the place really clean. My dog loved it.
Decently sized off leash dog park with stearate areas for small and large dogs. When I went there grass wasnt cut. Which gave concerns about insects.
Love this place. Lots of friendly folks who are very respectful . Franco loves it
I think this is a great place to bring your dog, and let them get some exercise and have some fun with other dogs.
Too sad of a view, something that i dont like to get myself involved in seeing, mostly due to the fact that I dont have a dog to bring to such a fun small space where its just him and other dog lovers including some other fun furry friends.
People are friendly, dogs are nice. People hang up forgotten items in hopes that the rightful owner comes back for it. Poop pick up bags available.
Nice place for the dogs but your experience will differ depending on the other dog owners visiting the park at the same time you are there.
I love it and my dog loves it, big enough to for the dogs to run around and a good place to see all different types of dogs and dogs having fun
Solid park. Small and Large sides. There is often free bags in case youre running low. Assortment of seats as well as a small shelter in case you need some shade.
Great place but too many owners who cant read a simple rule: Neutered your dog so they dont hump everyone and get themselves bit
Really pretty place for a dog park, but people dont wear masks and still socialize < 6 ft away.
Pretty good dog park. There is a doggy water fountain and quite a few trees for shade.
I love the dog park 😁 because you just see the dogs and see them play but the only negative thing is that it is muddy
Such a big park, tons of dogs when we went, great views of the water.
Its ok. Dogs that have a history of ANY kind of aggression should be leashed.
An off leash dog park, nice and clean, near the waterfront. Always has at least a few pups running around.
Still blocked off to auto traffic unless you only want to access the dog park, otherwise its a trek cross the park to enjoy the water.... smh
Need more cleaning and enforcement of rules otherwise my dog, Red a full german Rottweiler enjoyed tge park
Buffalo needs several dog parks.
Great dog park near the waterfront. Our dog loves it here.
Park was clean and a great way to socialize your dog. truly a dog heaven!
Great little place bear the lake. Had spots to sit, shade and water for the dogs
People are so friendly and the dogs too, well most of the people, Perfect spot for training thou for Both...
Plenty of space for dogs to run around! Near cool waterfront views.
If you have a pet dog,get your dog to this amazing park with other dogs and to enjoy the day
Large fenced in area. Good flow of dogs. Just bring poop bags!
Its a nice place to take your dog in the city and the people are just as freindly.
One area for small dogs and one for large. The fence is good with no holes.
Great space. Ton of room for large dogs and plenty of shade!
Nice, somewhat small medium dog park with a nice setup and beautiful views
If you want to be around a bunch of dog owners that dont watch their dogs then go for it. People here are terrible.
Decent dog park, but water fountains were not working
Large area and separate areas for small and large dogs. Not much to offer for seating.
Big area, well maintained. Critically, they allow people from out of town to use.
Friendly People, Spacious Park, Well Kept, Big womens bathroom that was well stocked.
Would be nice if people with annoying dogs, keep them in the other side...
Big space with water and toys available. Lot of dog feces though.
Good park with sections for big and small dogs.
I love this place, even tho my boy is being antisocial today. On his Birthday!!
I love it here, everyone is so friendly my dogs just love it!!!!
Pupper enjoyed herself running, playing and making friends.
Take your dog. Errr day!
A great place to let your dog be free.
It was straight mud. Not a good place to go after any rain or snow.
Nice water front park and a nice open space with shade.
Love this place. Great people and better dogs.
Great place to meet new fur friends
Nice park! Its big and has a solid fence. Its pretty popular so be aware there are probably going to be a lot of types of dogs and people there
The only dog park downtown. Often really muddy. Water is off in the winter, and the only porta-potty is removed as well...so not really a great winter destination. If you have a dog and no yard, it will do. I frequent it on early mornings or weekday afternoons when its not as crowded (in the summer), to let my dog really run. Weekend afternoon and weekday evenings are PACKED in the summer, oftentimes with dogs not being sufficiently watched by owners (leaving poop and causing fights). Please keep an eye on your dog.
Its a big open field and it has go to grass
Great on a hot day with the shade and being next to the lake.
My dog had fun until the agressive came in
ITS A GOOD PLACE FOR YOUR DOG TO RUN AROUND.
My dog Sniffon Diggs loves this place
Love it! The City needs to grade the large dog area so it drains better and the wind shelter could be a little larger, but we love it here.
Great little area with really great ppl. Have never had an issue taking my dog
Simple but cool dog park downtown
Its ok. The water wasnt working when I was there.
Great place to meet other puppers.
Great in the morning just after leaving work. ❤❤❤
People were strange but Mickey loved it.
Great place to bring the pup to play. Would be better if an actual structure was built to go to bathroom.
Great location in Lasalle Park. Right on Lake Erie. The park itself needs better care. Reseed the grass please
Very fun and peace loving place.
It is decent for those with trained pets..no complaints for real.
Dont participate in the dog activities just watch from a distance
Great place to let your doggie stretch and interact with other dogs...LEASH FREE
Very nice park. The safety depends on the PEOPLE not the dogs
Great place fr the dogs to socialize.
Great place to let ur dog run loose
Cute dog park. Cute dogs. Friendly owners.
Great dog park on the water front.
