We love Nickel City Canine Rescue, we have had such a great experience. We have fallen in love with our Rescue dog Foxy. We had a great experience with her former foster Roseann and Shannon who did our home visit for pre approval. We will highly recommend them to anyone looking to get a dog. We cant say enough about how happy we were with our experience!
When looking for a new dog for our family we came across NCCR and the process to get approved was so quick and easy! we found our Perfect dog and truly love this Rescue and how thorough they are!
My fiancé and I did the foster to adopt program and adopted our two amazing dogs. This rescue has been so great to volunteer with and their board members go above and beyond for the dogs and the volunteers. Would highly recommend adopting and volunteering with Nickel City.
Nickel City Canine rescue provides an invaluable service allowing and helping Flights to furrever (a charity animal adoption transport group) to bring wanted dogs (and cats) from Uvaldi TX to families and rescues in the Buffalo area. Thank you for helping us all out.
After applying to adopt everywhere in WNY, NCCR was the only rescue to respond to me. If you are looking to adopt in the near future, get pre approved! Volunteers were in contact with me every step of the way while they reviewed my application and when Colleen completed my home visit, she went over every detail about their process once I was approved! they have an outstanding board and team of volunteers who are devoted to clear and timely responses!
I adopted a pitbull/lab mix back in 2021 & have been volunteering ever since. I continue to be in awe with how many dogs they save MONTHLY!! There is such a wide variety of ages & breeds that need to be rescued, and NCCR helps them ALL!! 🩵🩵
We adopted our dog Frank from here and the work they do to save these dogs is absolutely amazing
Nickel City Canine Rescue is a great organization and extremely supportive!! I’ve been a foster with them for almost 2 years now and have adopted out 23 dogs. Majority have had some “pitt” mixed in and they have ALL become loving, loyal family members.Nickel City is always honest about the possible breed mix, as the majority of our dogs are mutts.
We have been looking to adopt a dog for a short while now, and in dealing with several rescues in the area, so far nickel city sends to be the best. They provide good information for available dogs, and have the most meet and greet events (which in our minds are essential before possibly adopting a dog)
One of the best rescue organizations in Buffalo. Very organized, smoothly ran, and the dogs are always in good hands. There are so many different breeds of dogs they get from down south and locally. They do a fantastic job educating and training fosters and adopters and the community. They are advocates for pit bulls (amazing breed of dogs and often misunderstood and get bad raps)and anyone spreading hate and false information regarding this organization and the breeds they rescue/support need to get their facts straight instead of bashing a wonderful hardworking nonprofit supporting dogs.
Intact dogs do not mean irresponsible pet owners. New studies show intact dogs live longer and healthier lives. This is not a reason to deny someone. Can an adoption agency really be that picky to not allowed spayed dogs to be adopted by owners who have intact dogs? Even with amazing references from my vet still was told no acting like I killed someone when they talked to.me.
The adoption process with Nickle City Canine Rescue was smooth and easy. We had a great experience working with them and adopted the most amazing pup! Hands down would use them again.
I adopted Tot now known as Emma..shes a 4 month old black mouth cur mix..we adopted her on 4/30/23. The process for approval was easy..I went to an adoption event, saw Emma and arranged a meet & greet the next day..I have a new puppy! Love her so much!!❤️
Got me an amazing dog, very smooth experience, they genuinely care for the animals and make sure theyre going to good homes. Cant recommend enough
Poor to no communication from the rescue. No one will give you a number to voice a problem or concern when we needed the rescue the most. If you are adopting and you have an issue with your dog and you can longer keep it in your house for safety reasons you will not get your money ($375) back. In my case the dog bit my 2 year old son (didn’t break skin) my wife and I decided that it wasn’t a good environment for the dog to be in so we asked NCCR to take the dog back because it clearly wasn’t a good fit. The organization does not have good policies put in place to handle these situations. It seems like they just want to put animals in houses without a trial period to make sure the dog is a good fit and move on the next. I’m not going to mention the dogs name but when it was put back up for adoption on the Facebook page the foster didn’t really communicate that the dog should not be around kids under 3.
I really applaud Nickel City Canine Rescue. I had been searching for several months for a dachshund to rescue for a companion to my dachshund and I saw that I would probably have to obtain one from out of state, and then I saw a posting for Sandy! OMG. And less that 25 miles away! What a gift she is to our family. Working with Nickel City was wonderful, their staff is kind and understanding and know exactly what is needed for every rescue. These future pets are placed in great foster homes to be cared for until they find their forever home. Bravo Nickel City!! We couldnt be happier with our dear Sandy!
Wont adopt to you if you live more than hour outside of the Buffalo Airport. I adopted our Bulldog from an agency located in Arkansas in 2015. We sent the agency a money order for $500 sight unseen. The dog showed up and Yes the dog is still with us. Not like Im asking a lot. I live 1.5 hours south of the Airport. All I wanted was an older male dog, small to medium size that had at least 2 years left. However dont let my review discourage you from adopting from Nickel City. With the Woohan pandemic slowly fading. Im sure there are dogs & cats that are being returned. Confused on why this is happening, when all they wanted was a loving home. By adopting, YOU can bring joy back into their lives. Nothing is better than your 4 legged family member greeting you at the door when you have had a bad day. They listen and comfort you without judgement.
We are so impressed by this rescue and their dedication to provide animals a second chance, and families the opportunity to love! We have adopted Dazzle, a mixed breed from a Texas, the day before Thanksgiving. Her foster mommy, Jessica was so helpful in answering any and all questions we had, and assured us just how wonderful she really is...and that was not an exaggeration! Dazzle, or Cortana now, has been a dream and we can’t thank Nickel City Canine Rescue enough!! We received her just days after she had been spayed and they worked with us so she could recover properly. They also gave us the opportunity to complete her vaccinations through their agency as well. Through their alumni page, I have been able to speak to her foster mom in Texas who provided me with some background info, and puppy pictures. I love this organization so much and I recommend them to all of my friends! Thank you for completing our family NCCR!! 🐾
Nickel City Canine was the best ! So helpful finding me a pup , not 1 but 2 . I recommend them to everyone. These are my pups
They really take the time to make sure you and your pet will be compatible. Pro tip: Fill out the application and get pre-qualified before looking at whats available, it will speed the process and they are VERY thorough.
NCCR provided an easy, fast, and comfortable adopting process. We could not be more thrilled with our new family member, Murphy, and are so grateful for her foster and the other volunteers who helped make our adoption possible. If youre looking for a reliable rescue in Buffalo, I highly recommend checking out NCCR. They were quick to respond to our application and worked with us every step of the way when weve had another rescues not even bother to call us back. We couldnt recommend them enough!
This “rescue” downplays how dangerous pitbulls are and pushes them onto unsuspecting families. They are in denial about the statistics specifically that pitbulls kill more people per year than all other dog breeds combined.Beware that you may be adopting a “reactive” “nanny dog” pitbull that could nanny you right into your grave.
I know some of the people who volunteer and work at this rescue. They are incredibly passionate, professional and responsible to whom they give animals. Its sad that people who were rejected for valid reasons, decide to throw a tantrum and have their friendsdog-pile on an organization that does so much good. Its ridiculous. If your cats are so STRESSED OUT, THEN WHY ARE YOU ADDING ANOTHER ANIMAL (A DOG!!) TO THE MIX? You have rescued 7 unvaccinated cats... You have these poor animals a home when others might not have... Good for you...Nickel City Canine has rescued and placed dozens if not 100s of as animal in need. Youre both on the same side here.Move on. Concentrate on your cats and stop this hurtful behavior.
Have at least 4 applications in . Last dog they called my vet , checked with my references ,Set up a meet & greet they came to my houseWent through and I asked if she had the pup with her and she said “ oh he was adopted “ there are others if your interested !! Had no notification that that pup I wanted was adopted . I was heartbroken. I will now find another rescue . Never again . Make sure you find out before the meet & greet that your pip is coming with .
My family recently adopted Tank and couldnt be happier with our new furever friend. Hes exactly what we hoped for. Jennifer is a great foster & made the process super easy. Were so happy we decided to adopt from this rescue. They really care about the animals.
Love is what keeps this place going! Its great to help in any other way you can, too.
Our puppy TUCKER is the love of our life. He makes our day every day for fun laughter and playing catch. We thank our neighbor Kathy who was fostering tucker. If not for her we wouldnt of known about Nickel City Canine Rescue or TUCKER. The girl that did final paperwork was very helpful knowledgeable and professional. I would recommend them to anyone that is looking to adopt a pet. THANKS again NICKEL CITY .
We had a wonderful experience with Nickel City Canine Rescue! Everything went smoothly and on schedule with adopting our little bundle of joy! We couldnt be happier all the way around!! We love our new puppy!!!
18 month old Charlie became part of part of our family only 3 weeks ago & it seems like he’s been with us much longer, a perfect match. We can’t thank Nickel City Canine Rescue for their help in making sure Charley has a lifetime home! Thank you especially to Beth & Kelsey.
Nickel City Canine rescue was the ideal place for adopting my first rescue. From the start they were always in touch, through email, their volunteers, FB messenger, you name it. From the first application, to the home visit, deciding to foster to adopt, the transport , and to ultimately adopting. Their workers kept me in the know every step of the way. I could tell they were the place for me. I just officially welcomed my Khali into the house! NCCR was there the first few days with every question I could possibly think of. They really are knowledgeable & passionate about what they are doing. A major thank you to Nickel City Canine Rescue and all they’ve done, because thanks to them I found a furever friend.
No communication from this organization. Dogs come from out of state and I know someone who recieved a do from Nickel City. Dog had health problems. If you are looking for a dog for your child I suggest Spca or an animal shelter. No competition and they will adopt out a dog to your family.
Very responsive, professional, friendly and helpful through out the entire process. I love that they do a home visit and detail everything to expect. Its great that they do a 7 day foster to adopt option, just in case it isnt a right fit or you got in over your head. Great group and I love what theyre doing as a rescue!
I will update my review and say that the owner has reached out and been very helpful. There seemed to be a major disconnect in communication between everyone involved in the situation. We misunderstood their intent and they misunderstood our medical reasons behind the vaccinations. We have been able to come to a resolve and I am happy we were able to figure out where the mix up is.
I applied for a home visit and within three days was preapproved for 6 months of opportunity. Working with them exceeded my expectations and even as an experienced dog owner, I feel like I learned vital pet owner information. I will continue to adopt from them.
1st time adopting & it was all i could of asked for. Very professional rescue team, informative w/all questions needed answered & tips you probably didn’t know. Great & awesome owner who you deal w/ hand in hand throughout the process. Choosing was that much easier working with NCCR.All that were involved, thank you!!I was lucky enough to link w/Sammy(Jackson now) He’s been a delight & is warming up as if he was already apart of our family. He’s growing on us tremendously every day. Thanks again NCCR!
I have asked twice to speak with the president of the rescue and am not getting any responses in regards to setting up a meeting. I am wanting to add an amendment to my contract instead of breaching it. NYS Law does allow that if both parties agree, but since I have been refused and am not being granted access to speak with the head of the rescue, I plan on hiring an attorney if it’s in the best interest of my dog.
I just adopted Ares! He is the sweetest little “Chiweenie” ever. We love him already❣️ Everyone at Nickle City rescue was amazing. Thank you for bringing so much joy to our family in one little fur baby!!! JoAnn Steenberg
People who claim to be adults are hurting this rescue because they refuse to understand the laws. Not having your animals vaccinated is irresponsible and against the law. The rescue did the correct thing. The childish ways these people are acting is very sad. If anything, that should encourage more people to support this rescue. They are making sure that animals are entering the nest environment possible. Thats responsible behavior!
Such a great rescue, one that truly cares about its dogs and their adopters. We adopted our Willie (formerly Zane) and it was such and easy and pleasant adoption. Highly recommend!! A++++++++++ all the way
My family and I first fostered a dog from NCCR and recently adopted our second from them. Everyone has been great to deal with and given the opportunity I would definitely work with them again.
No breed is a nanny dog. Spreading this misinformation is a great way to ensure that people are NOT matched with a good pet for their households.
Transports dogs in EXTREMELY unsafe manner. They use a box truck with zero ventilation with several crate stacked on top of each other with no tie downs.
My Remi is a beautiful addition to my family...
I meet some wonderful people from the rescue and very satisfied with our adoption with our puppy they did a great job on getting our adoption done and completed and providing us with important information for future and present. Thanks
Anyone who helps rescue animals is top notch in my book! We just adopted our first pup from them and it was a great experience!
We are in the application process and the person helping us her name is Jan she is wonderful and very helpful we cant wait to get a dog and hopefully it will be from Nickel City canine
Was a great experience. The people there are so helpful and caring. Is truly a great organization. Thank you again for helping us find our puppy Apollo
Couldn’t recommend a better organization to adopt a dog from, everyone is extremely helpful and willing to answer any questions you might have.
Sure, be happy to share my experience. Although, I was not able to get the dog i wanted, people explained policies thoroughly . People very kind.
They denied me because of my medical condition. Didnt even give me a chance. Then they never retur ed my calks.
Our experience with the NCCR has been AMAZING!! We saw a puppy while we were at a soccer game and asked the owner where he was from. He told us NCCR and we had never heard of them before. I looked them up online when I got home and filled out the application. We were contacted by one of the volunteers who checked our references, called our vet, and did a home visit - all in about a week! We were approved and started our search that night. We saw Barbara (now Higgins) online and sent a message that we were approved and interested in meeting her and to our surprise, we got a call the next morning! She needed to wait to meet us for at least 10 days as she was just brought in on the last transport, but when she got to our home, she melted our hearts!! She is by far the BEST dog we have ever met. Her tail never stops wagging!! She loves our children so much and we say constantly that we cannot believe she is ours. NCCR made the process so easy and seamless - I would recommend them to EVERYONE!
We had a great experience adopting our fur baby. Would highly recommend!
They are so perfect to adopt at nickel city we are so happy cant thank them enough.
Amazing rescue. Our dog was in great health and well taken care of.
Very thorough and professional. Every attempt is made to have a well matched adoption.Highly recommend!
We had a great experience adopting our new puppy from this rescue!
We couldnt be more happier to adopt KevinHe is so happy to be in his forever home with lots of love ❤
Such a wonderful group of people, doing all they can to help dogs.
Adopting Mindy has been a very pleasant experience. From the beginning Troy and Emily were very honest and willing to help with all our questions.Mindy was a bit timid at first but is getting adjusted to her new home and doing very well! Carol and Barry were also very helpful getting my application filled out and approved, they truly have the rescue dogs best interest at heart.Lastly the day of adoption was an experience, even with an ice storm the staff came through! Thank you from Donna and myself & Brent and Bradley
Had an easy adoption ♡ very nice people.
Great place if you want to adopt a dog
Wonderful group of people who truly take care of everything, love this rescue
The people are easy to work with and genuinely care about the dogs!
That someone is petty enough to get their friends to start a smear campaign because they have 7 cats that are not vaccinated for rabies is pathetic! I know how hard these volunteers work and all the time they put in outside of their regular job. Great work NCCR!
Great rescue and great people. Thank you for all you do.
They were amazing to work with so nice!
No thanks
Friendly service and attentive
Looking forward to helping more
