My bestie & I adopted a cat from here right before Christmas, and they call to tell you to call back, only to NEVER answer the phone, or return the phone calls. Than the cat we had been visiting for a few weeks, we found out they (ten lives club) microchiped the same cat 3 times. The cat had 3 separate microchips in it, and than after only scanning it a bunch of times do we find out that cat is not the one they were going to let us adopt in the long run. Instead they said that other cat (the one with no microchips, and no paper collar) is the one they said we were visiting. They were incorrect I waited there for hours just to be told they would vaccinate the cat and I could take her home. Than told me to come back tomorrow. I came back the next day and they didnt cancel the prior adoption of the other cat, they didnt have a vet look the cat over as promised and they didnt microchip the cat as well. Please go some place else for your adoption needs. This one is clearly discombobulated, overwhelmed, and possibly under staffed with folks that clearly dont know what they are doing.

This is my sweet boy Bambi my boyfriend and I adopted him through 10 lives club but we picked him up from a pet supplies plus. We adopted him on July 25th 2024. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about the adoption process it went so smoothly and Andi was super helpful with the whole process! But the reason that I gave a 3 star rating is because unfortunately Bambi passed away on September 8th at the emergency vet, he was only 8 months old.. when we had adopted him all his medical records were clean had 0 medical issues at all. We took him to the vet because his chest was rattling every time he took a breath, that started the night before he passed, and the morning of he couldn’t walk let alone stand up by himself. Rightfully so my boyfriend and I were extremely worried so we took him to the closest emergency vet and they told us he had a hereditary lung disease called FIP or Feline Infectious Peritonitis, it is terminal, unfortunately there is no cure. We were told that FIP doesn’t normally come up in their system until anywhere between 6 months to a year and bambi’s medical records were completed when he was 5 months old. I’m sure this review can’t or won’t change when they do medical exams on their kittens but just wanting to warn others this is a possibility with their kittens. Even though we only had Bambi for a month and a half we grew a huge bond with him and loved him to death, his passing has been extremely hard on us. This situation for me has ruined the possibility of getting another kitten from any shelter not just 10 lives club because I wouldn’t be able to go through the heartbreak of losing my beloved kitten so soon. I would adopt an older cat through them sometime in the future though because at least I know with an older cat we won’t lose them the same unfortunate way we lost our sweet boy, Bambi.

The only reason Im rating low is because of this new person working here, like, we cant pet the cats in the cages on the first floor? Weve done it for YEARS and have had no issue. Cats cant spread sicknesses to humans so I dont know what on Earth the point was. We wouldnt even pet cats that were sick anyway. If the real reason was every cat down below has to be processed then every single worker including the OWNER wouldnt have allowed people to all these years, and they always have, and the attitude of this person bothered me so much to the point that I dont even know if I want to come here anymore. This person is newer becauae I dont remmeber her working here before. I wouldnt hesitate to rate one star becauae of one single person but the rest of the place I still like, including but not limited to the actual cats here, but whoever this newer worker is, the attitude is uncalled for and kills the mood and the vibe.

I got my cat Lily Love from Ten Lives. They were wonderful and Lily Love was the sweetest little baby. That is, until Green Acres Animal Clinic gave her a medication she didnt need. It took her five days to die. She should have loved for years. The veterinary specialist Amanda Gerard was responsible. DO NOT GO TO GREEN ACRES ANIMAL HOSPITAL. Ive heard terrible things happening to animals taken there. Many people have lost pets. But Ten Lives is wonderful.

These people are GREAT!!!! Some cruel human dumped 4 4week old kittens on the side of my house. They had been there a couple of days before I found them. I brought them here and without saying anything, except oohs and ahhs, they started to treat each one. They truly enjoyed the whole experience. Even though they close at 6pm, I left at 6:30 and they were still working on making sure the kittens were all set. Each one got medicines, fluids, and all the food they could eat. Then they were tucked in,in a cozy, warm bed.

I had a drift at my front door and pushed it open as much as I could to get some warm food to him but he had other plans, he squeezed in and needed my help. UNFORTUNATELY I had to surrender him even though I would of loved to have kept him but my dogs werent having it. He is the sweetest cuddle bug ever. 10 Lives was kind enough to take him in and I pray he finds a forever home and NEVER ends up on the street again. He will definitely be a great addition to the right family. He has lived a rough life and the 2 weeks that he was with me he was treated like a little king (fully belly, yummy treats, warm comfy bed and safe and LOTS of 💗). The room was cramped and chaotic. The cats were nervous. There really wasn’t an opportunity to bond with any because they were hiding & running away. I realize this isn’t the staff’s fault but it’s still not a great situation. I was the only one wearing a mask so this location isn’t safe for people who are immunocompromised. It’s also not accessible to people who use mobility aids. I will say that the people working there were kind and helpful, which is why I’m giving it three stars. They’re also very transparent about the health of the cats and they care for the cats really well.

I’ve recently adopted a cat from the 10 lives club at the eastern hills mall in mid October. I fell in love with a kitten from the second I walked Into the doors. I had an amazing experience with the whole adoption process and have no complaints there. After only having the kitten for 3 days he started experiencing signs of sickness. I brought him to the other location where the veterinarian is. I dropped him off and if I didn’t know someone I would have never gotten ahold of someone and the poor cat probably wouldn’t have made it as long as he did. The vet techs did everything they could and he ended up passing away of panleuk. Once again no complaints there because sickness does happen and that’s not on anyone. They did everything they could. After this whole experience with my FIRST ever cat I’ve been to emotional about getting another one. I waited THREE weeks to hear from someone about getting my refund. I called, and called, left voicemails, emails and when picking up the kittens paw prints and fur clippings I asked once again, didn’t get an answer. I understand that they are backed up and are busy. It only takes 3 minutes out of someone’s day to call me back and refund my money when all I’m trying to do is move forward. I think it was unprofessional and personally will never go through them again.

The work of angels is done here! I dropped off the sweetest stray fella today that has been fending for himself since winter. This cat is such a love- he doesnt really care about food, he just wants to cuddle with people and be pet. He rolls at your feet purring waiting for his belly to be rubbed and when you stop he follows rubbing his head on your legs begging for more. I had to help him and no shelter in WNY would take him because they have too many. I called Ten Lives Club just looking for info on if theyd have room for him in the future, knowing at the time that they were full and understanding that it is peak kitty season. I just didnt want him to face another winter outside and would continue feeding him until they had room. Marie(I think) called me same day and set up an appointment to drop him off the following Tuesday. I was so impressed by her and how much they do for the cats in their care. She assured me he would be neutered, microchipped, tested for feline leukemia and immunodeficiency virus, treated for worms and fleas, and, and, and!!!! They do so much! While it broke my heart to have to leave him at the shelter, I know theyll work hard to find him the perfect person that will love him up like he deserves. Thank you Marie and everyone at Ten Lives Club that will care for him until then. Hug him for me and somebody go get this cat! I promise he will save you :)

We just left their benefit called cruising for cats which they do yearly. We have attended this one and many of their other ones in the past in support of the cats of course. We have seen some shady things from time to time but today takes the cake! They had a larger Cat Tree Tower on a separate raffle which costs more. We both got several tickets throughout our time at the event and obviously spent a great deal of money on their raffle overall. They just start quietly pulling the tickets thinking nobody is watching them do it - Im watching the one volunteer guy with the long beard who is older and fairly tall - he goes to pick a ticket and has it for about 5 seconds, looks in the basket again and SWITCHES THE TICKET! You can see the names of people written right on them, so funny thing the winner ended up being of their volunteer workers! Funny because they already had a speech about how hard she workd doing their food or whatnot. It was clearly planned. THEY TOOK ADVANTAGE DOING THIS AND IS HORRIBLE. Also, the other baskets they had peoples names on ones that they clearly wanted to win, while other ones were called by a tual numbers. It was super suspicious and unacceptable to run an event for charity that is so unfair to the people attendkng. It was disgusting to see this happen today because we enjoyed trying to support 10 Lives at all these events before this. I feel like anybody who put money in for that cat tree raffle should be refunded! Ridiculous that they should be allowed to just pick who they want - you should never put tickets back in the basket. One ticket windls, there should be no need to grab another one after realizing your coworkers names was on a different one!! How insanely corrupt - I will be posting this again in other areas if nothing is followed up on.

Got to the place, no one to meet us, by total luck some volunteers showed up and told us the cat was going to be adopted by someone else later in the day.We filled out the online form the day he was delivered and got the call back the day after confirming our appointment. They told us he was guaranteed to the other people, what about our guarantee? Don’t waste your time here. The employees were individually nice (sort of, apologies were given but one of them was pretty short about it and implied it was our fault) but we had our hearts set on that cat and were severely disappointed. Lack of organization is really evident, especially communication. Needs to be improved and fast. Also their Buffalo Clinton street location is decrepit and looks dirty/non-functional. Ten Lives is an amazing adoption place! It is a free roaming shelter meaning the cats are not kept in cages. They are in a home like environment where they can sit on furniture, eat, sleep, use the litter boxes etc. This is to make shelter life less stressful on them so they dont get sick and make it easier for them to acclimate to a new home, especially one with other pets. They are strictly volunteer run. All cats are spayed/neutered and vetted with shots before purchased. I got my cat Lulu from them and she will be 12yrs old and going strong. I use to volunteer for them and can tell you they are amazing! I would recommend this shelter to anyone looking to adopt their forever pet.

My parents have adopted from Ten Lives when it was still at the Galleria. It’s a great organization, but today I had the worst experience. I went with my mother to look at cats for myself and one of the employees was extremely condescending to us. I understand that they’re careful about who viewing and meeting the cats, but the tone the worker used with us made me not want to put it an application at all. She was so rude. I felt like she didn’t even want to adopt a cat out and that does a huge disservice to the rescue.Once we left, five other strangers looking at the cats immediately exited behind us and complained to us about the worker’s attitude. Honestly, it’s just disappointing because I am seriously looking to adopt a cat and had preferred this organization over others.

My husband is a veterinarian (which I thought was a plus, but I guess not), and none of my references were contacted. If any of you people who complain about TLC should spend a week doing what these people do everyday. Their expenses far exceed those tiny 20 dollar donation to help just one cat you bring into the shelter. What do you all think TLC survives on? They take on all the problems of you people who surrender cAts because of a variety of lame excuses, etc. ( some very legitimate) So now it becomes our problem at our expense. They work 24/7 with these problems . If you came at a time when it exceptionally busiest your going to find things not running smoothly as in every situation. SUGGUSTION, volunteer to help out. Better yet answer the phones with the enormous amount of people wanting to surrender a cat/cats or any other situation. Your lucky to have a group out there to help as many cats as they do help. They only have so much room to house cats, and if one was in a cage when you got there it was for a very good reason unbeknownst to you. Some need quarantine time. Staff can only do so much. They are super hero’s but not God. There are errors made but they are few and far in between. So before you criticize walk a mile in their shoes and then comment.I can’t make excuses for rude behavior but maybe your behavior could have tamed the situation in an educated way,of understanding how hard a job running a shelter is with most volunteers! As far as applications, they screen carefully to protect the adoptee. No offense to you but the situation is not welcome .Sorry but the judgment falls on the correct home for the particular cat.

Very snobby staff. At first they seemed friendly but when my bf and I requested to hold one/play with one (because they were kept in cages and theres only so much you can gauge your connection to the cat by sticking your fingers in the cage) we were told that a staff member can only hold them and thats the only way we can pet them. Uhm, Really? I totally get it when its for cats that are naturally stressed out easily or have anxiety, but the kitten we were looking at was extremely playful and sweet. All we wanted was to see if the kitten took a liking to us but instead the staff gave us this strange look and then one of them took out the kitten and held her but held her in such a way that made it difficult to even pet her or play with her. It felt like she was doing it on purpose and all this made my and bf leave this place and go elsewhere to look for a cat. A real shame because we were ready to adopt right then and there. Pro tip. If you want people to adopt your cats dont expect them to take a cat home when the only way they can see if they have a connection to the cat is by sticking your fingers in the cage. What a bizarre place. The cats were fine bit the staff made us feel highly uncomfortable and Im not going to adopt a cat unless I know its a right fit for us.

Let me start off by saying that I understand the Organization runs off donations, however...this place is a complete dump and every cat in there looks miserable. Ive never seen such an unkept, filthy facility such as this one. Honestly the cats would probably rather be outside fending for themselves than in there. Secondly, I had adopted 2 cats from them from one of their offsite adoption locations and they were terribly ill. (This was before I actually seen the inside of the 10 Lives Club Facility) They give you a 30 day guarantee however when my cats were really sick within that time frame, getting ahold of someone was literally a job! So on more than 2 occasions, I had to pay over 300.00 to have them seen by my vet so they can get the medical attention they needed, I couldnt wait until they found time to call me giving their medical issues, we love our little guys and would do anything to make sure theyre happy and healthy! The vet there can be very rude and unconcerned. I would never say dont adopt from them regardless of my horrific experiences with them because those cats in there need/deserve a CLEAN, LOVING and HAPPY home far far away from that place but just PLEASE BE CAUTIOUS of the HELL they put you through when THEY ADOPT YOU an ill cat.

I have known Ten Lives club for a while and I have done many benefits and gave a lot of money to them. Last year there was a pregnant stray cat that needed to be trapped and brought somewhere and one of the workers at Ten Lives Club was going to do it and I offered my assistance and she became very irate and words were exchanged and unkind words were said on both sides between me and this Julie and Marie - but in the end the cat was captured and brought to the club. Flash forward to this year and there was another situation I had with an animal that was whacked with a stick so hard that it had a broken back and its legs were dragging and could not even walk and a broken pelvis. This was on a Saturday afternoon everything was closed & I had Maries personal cell phone number that SHE HAD GAVE ME so I called it and she said to bring it in which I did and they had to put it down....now there was another incident of a cat that was in a park that I trapped and I brought over there and I gave $20 to one of the workers I believe his name was Joe & he told me that I could continue to call this cell number - there were business cards with Maries number on it on the desk so I took one and when I called her to ask about this cat - I was told to never use this number again after she gave it to me that it was only for friends and family and I just lost all respect for this organization. Now when you call that phone number theres nobody manning the phones and it says that on the recording - you have to leave a msg with an extension ...now back in the day they didnt even have extensions. I ask you - what would have happened with that cat that had a broken back and pelvis on a Saturday afternoon and if I would have called the direct number and left a message and they were closing in 15-20 minutes that cat would have suffered until Monday so I had no choice but to call the cell so now I will never call the cell I dont think I will ever give any more money because the last $20 I gave I did not even receive a receipt like I did before by a very nice girl that worked there. Im not even working and every time I bring an animal there I give at least 10 or 20 and when I asked on the website about the cat & that i donated $20 they didnt even say thank you for all your donations or nothing they are like all about the money and after reading that one review by the one girl about how unclean the place is that worked and the other guy that said their cats had tapeworms and such - I dont think theyre as good as I thought they were. Sure they may not kill the cats there a no kill shelter but they are very unprofessional and for this girl Julie and for Marie to hold a grudge over a year and to not help me trap this poor cold cat in the park which I had to do myself is very petty.... they would rather hold a grudge over a few swear words than to come help me and so i brought the cat in I get nothing but attitude so you know what no more money from me and I hope you get more lawsuits up the ying-yang and one day I will make my own organization and blow them right out of the water. Such a shame it should be about the cats and its all about money and theyre not even being properly taken care of and living in horrible conditions. The one girl even said that Marie walks by these cats that are in intense pain like she doesnt even care and looks right through them. Disgusting.

For the past week or so I’ve been back and forth to the pet supplies plus on Sheridan drive in Amherst Ny. I called Marianne to tell her my interest in a older cat named dumbledore. In this message I told her that I would be leaving my work at 4pm and that is the only number I could call from, she could call my work the next day, and after 4 I would be gone. For days I waited for her to call back. I even reached out again to her and another worker Jill. Nothing. During this time I went to visit Dumbledore. We had started to bond. I got to brush him as a worker cleaned his cage. After an hour the following day of waiting for a worker to come so I could ask about taking him home yet again, no one came. I sat there with dumbledore as many people would walk up and say “he’s old” “he’s almost dead” and walk away. This bothered me so much as I was mentally gearing up to take on this cat in any state he came. I was already made aware that he had all of his teeth removed, and was previously returned from someone who already tried adopting him. This didn’t stop my want for him. After reaching out to Marianne again, she answered and when she did she begin to explain how aggravated she was that I had left work early that day I called her(?) I stayed till after four that day waiting for the phone call and she never called claiming she did... she then asked me how old I was and what I did, as well as if I rent or own my home. I told her I rent and it would be tricky getting a hold of my landlord, but gave her his number anyway of course. I then received an email as she said she would be emailing me Monday and if all went well I could take Dumbledore home. After waiting all day yet again, This is the email I got at 11pm almost 12 midnight.“We could not obtain approval from the owner of your rental property andthe application was also turned down because of the age of the cat. She is 10 years old and at this age possible health issues requiring regular Visits to a Veterinary Office may prove costly and a financial burden to you. I am very sorry as I know you really like this cat. Maybe a younger cat would be more practical.”...I work full time as a tattooer. My income is no issue. I am also allowed to have as many cats/dogs/ferrets as I would like as long as I pay a deposit. This is no issue. For her to assume that I didn’t make a enough income because of my age/she actually didn’t call my landlord I am furious. After looking at the reviews I’m starting to understand that Dumbledore is being used as a Luer so people will contact this company and she will then point them in the direction of trying to get a younger healthier cat when in fact all of the cats there are sick and not taken care of, in my honest opinion I know Dumbledore would’ve had a much healthier life in my care.

A cat shelter. I was thinking about adopting from there however there prices seem unusal. People pay to surrender and then pay to adopt. Seems high prices. They seem to do a lot of fund raising. Seems to be legal.but in my mind. A lot of room for people who donate for good reasons. I going to stay away from this one.just seems to remind me of a well paying job that isnt necessary. I take my money to the SPCA

Saw them being SERIOUSLY TRANSPHOBIC to a former employee on Facebook. Used to follow their page but honestly after that, forget it. I cant support a place like that. Sometimes people get fired but theres no reason to be disrespectful. Cant stand people like that, I wish people trying to save animals werent so disgusting sometimes and were always kind and caring as they should be. Not the first time Ive seen it either from other places. If you go here be careful, someone who cant even treat their own kind well I dont trust with animals....

I fostered a litter of kittens for this organization a couple years ago. They transported them from down south (which I think is morally questionable when we have so many local cats in need) and they were the sickest kittens Ive ever seen. They never answer their phone which made it very difficult to get medication for my sick fosters. When they finally got tired of treating the kittens (even though one still had an eye infection), they told me to bring bring them in for adoption. But when I arrived, I was told there was no room so I had to take them back home. The staff never seemed to be in communication with one another which was very confusing and frustrating. When my kittens finally got adopted, they mixed up the microchip info on 2 of them (one of the adopters left multiple messages attempting to get it fixed but they never returned her calls) and one had to be treated for the eye infection in their new home. I hated sending a sick kitten into a home but Ive heard from many adopters that this is a regular occurrence at 10 lives. My guess is they are overwhelmed with the number of cats they have so they cannot care for them properly. I would never tell people not to adopt from them because these kitties need homes more than ever but I cannot give my time to an organization who is not doing whats right for the animals or the community.

When we arrived six hours later they still hadnt even started our cat and gave us attitude. The woman told me she didnt realize we had traveled that far and said they would start our cat right away but wasnt very nice about it.
