Long over due!My frenchie has had a few leg injuries and with his prior Veterinarian he was being treated for a back leg limp. Worried that it could turn into IVDD real fast he was put on medication for the inflammation as well as something to “calm” him down. Unfortunately that prescription wasn’t for him and when contacting the vet they did very little to address my concern. After a couple of day he wasn’t himself and wasn’t walking and would urinate on himself. Deeply concerned a close friend recommended Animal Clinic in Astoria, wanting a second opinion I called on a Saturday morning and expressed my concern and they said they would love to see him that very same day. Every single person inside the office showed so much love to my Bleu and were truly invested in figuring out what was going on with him. After multiple test Dr.Gapas sat down with me and explained what could be happening with him and set up a plan to get him back to his happy self. The following day they called just to check up on him and that meant a lot to me. I also had another meeting with them that following Monday to discuss his x-rays with another Dr there which also took her time to discuss the results and to see him walk around. My dog is better than ever and was back to normal after a couple days. I’m so glad I got a second opinion because they truly treat our pets like family. If you like your pets and respect yourself please RUN from this place!The only thing they care is money, not your pets and you will see it after one visit.Whenever you ask for the prices, before to start check up, or is it just regular visit, they not going to tell you, they will do anything, ignoring your questions and will take your pet without your permission.Front desk ladies are very rude and they are very well organized between them to be against you if you start complaining about something or if you just asking questions.Dr is maybe good but you can not tell that , she doesn’t even know the name of your pet, she seems like she is doing mechanically her job with no any sympathy, check up was lasting less than 5 minutes she gave the shots and that is it and you pay $120 just for that, vaccines go separately etc …I have heard this from many ppl from the dog park but now I see it by myself..Please stay away and don’t go and pay that much money (which you will not know until the moment of paying) for not being respected and not sure that your pet is healthy .

I will trust holistic vets most from here on out! This place gave me hope for my cat after 5 days of trauma at the ER and other vets. Dr Gapas and her son are amazing. Bringing her here was the turning point for my cat. She felt better. She needed to eat, the ER never addressed that. Dr. Gapas fed her and showed me how to make special food to give her through a syringe. Amazing place, thank you for offering us some relief!

I woke up and realized my dog had broken her tooth and the wait at my current vet was until July. Im so happy they got me in the same day for a check and some blood work. In 2 days they can extract her tooth.

Run way from this Clinic. They worry about only the money, how much to charge you.For a blood test, they charge me $700. I asked for the second opinion in different clinic for the blood test and they charge me $180 only.

A vet you can trust!We take Loki here and though it’s not always pleasant for him, they truly love animals here and what they do!Each time we go in, we’re treated with care and we’re never left with questions. I started coming to this clinic about a year ago. Each visit is always so welcoming. They give my dog love and never once did I feel judged. My dogs teeth were horrible and I found it difficult to allow a procedure be done where I knew extractions were needed. They did stress the importance of it but I always felt distressed with scheduling the appointment, especially since I was and still am struggling financially. But never did I feel judged or pressured. Finally I knew it was time and everything got done as perfectly as possible. They prepared my dog Canelo before during and after the procedure. They call to check on Canelo after all visits and I can’t feel anything but gratitude for them. I 1000% recommend this clinic and find every expense worth it. Not to mention they aren’t insanely pricy like most clinics. The only pricy fee I would say is the office visit fee which to me is pretty high and just rose from 85-110$. But follow ups are free as long as they’re within 2 weeks after first visit!

Been here for over 6 years my dogs love it super pricey honestly but good service sometimes it can be weird as far as how they handle things example the grooming cut my dogs paw and body like 3xs already, one of the front desk males is a bit in the clouds and out of it and the pricing for just a visit is wild…

Unfortunately for the vet, the sick cat, the friend and for me, I had to cancel the appointment after feeling stressed from a passive aggressive phone lady receptionist. She is super aggressive, super cold, super rude. I called back to cancel with a no carrier excuse due to the bad energies and a nice gentleman helped out and made me change my mind by offering to pick up a carrier, how nice of him, very polite and professional young man. Once I arrived this horrendous miserable unhappy woman that never gets laid scared me and I canceled the appointment once and for all because of the fear of leaving my cat near this woman, who knows if she would abuse it?

Im absolutely furious about the way I was treated here. I just wanted to know why I had to wait so long while others who came in after me got to see the doctor first. The receptionists response was incredibly rude, saying You have to understand that its a doctors office, you have to wait. This kind of attitude is totally unacceptable in any business.To make matters worse, when I confronted the receptionist about her disrespectful attitude, she callously remarked to the nurse that I was gonna leave because of the wait. This level of unprofessionalism is simply unacceptable.Additionally, I had to repeatedly explain my cats situation to every staff member I encountered. This level of inefficiency and disrespect for customers time is unacceptable. Avoid this place if you value respect and efficiency.

This place is amazing! Im a new pet owner and I came with my two kittens and they had almost no wait time. The receptionist was super kind and everything in the clinic was super organized. The technicians took great care of my pets and gave me all the information I needed to know to take care of my kittens, including what the best food is and vaccinations. The veterinarian was also super helpful! Overall I had a great experience. I would definitely recommend coming here, whether you are a new pet owner or not

I have taken all the pets I had over the years here.Dr Gappas was Always great as well as the other vets. The girls at the desk and the groomer are very fresh and unkind..my dog was petrified everytime she had to enter this facility..after like 25 years or maybe more, this facility shunned my Luna away because I had to cancel a grooming appt, due to an emergency. I was told pay 25 $ or dont come back!

March 2023About two weeks ago, I went in because they had a senior cat by the name of Eva or Ava in the window. I wanted to know her background to potentially adopt her. The young man at the front desk was very rude and unprofessional. When he didn’t understand my question I politely asked, he said, excuse me , what? with an attitude as if I wasn’t supposed to be in his place of work. When I stared at him for about five seconds, he then adjusted his tone and his delivery and said excuse me —can you repeat that or something to that effect.I’ve then repeated my question and he said oh SHE will help you. I did not know who SHE was but, I stood there for about 20 minutes waiting for SHE to help me. And in the interim , he made no eye contact , no apology for the wait he just kindly, brightly and professionally catered to and warmly engaged with the WHITE CUSTOMERS.Eventually SHE came and asked what I was here for and I told her and she took down my information and never called me. Even when SHE spoke to me ,it was cold and distant, but as soon as I mentioned to her that the cat was cold and shivering in her cage, she turned to speak to the cat and showed friendliness and warmth.It’s amazing to me how everyone else was showed kindness and friendliness except for me and I believe it’s because I am black. I watched for 20 whole minutes everyone else being shown respect and courtesy whereas I was made to feel like I did not belong in the clinic.DO BETTER!UPDATE: Nov 15,2023If I felt that way? I WAS treated that way and it had everything to do with race as described in my original review. I walk by this place frequently and will never visit again. Again, DO BETTER! and take the focus off of how you feel.

Ive been fortunate enough to work with Dr. Gapas as our vet for the last 5 years. Shes taken incredible care of our dog and 2 cats. Shes thoughtful, compassionate, well-researched, and has been rigorous in solving a number of their health issues. She recently performed a complicated surgery on our cats paw, and hes healed perfectly and is doing great. All of the techs in the office are deeply caring, detailed, and committed. Judy, who Ive had the pleasure of working with frequently is amazing and highly knowledable. I always trust that our pets are receiving the best care at this clinic. Dr. Gapas is an extraordinary vet, and Im so grateful to her and the entire team at Animal Clinic of LIC.

Go somewhere else. The weirdest and rather most upsetting vet visit I ever experienced at a vet. Tip: there is no xray machine, so if you think your pet needs an xray, dont waste your time and money here. I visited on a Sunday. The vet was Dr. Sevalla. When I entered the clinic, an escalating situation between the vet and a client was ensuing. The client was anxious because the vet would not allow people to be in the exam room while their pet was being examined. The client said several times to be gentle with her dog because she is skittsh. This escalated to the point where after a nasty and loud exchange of words in front of all, the vet said im the doctor and that the client should take her business elsewhere. The client did leave the office without treatment of her pet. This is when I should have left, but I didnt. Dr. Savalla had the Im the doctor attitide which I found to be very unprofessional. She was yelling and was combatitive with this client. I had doubts about whether to stay or go. Since it is difficult and traumatic for my cat to get into a carrier and I was already there, I opted to stay. My appointment was delayed due to an emergency walk-in patient. That patient told me she did not like this vet after a brief interaction and told me she would never come on a Sunday again. I decided stay because my cat needed urgent dental treatment. I could hear the vet complaining and being judgmental about the emergency pet owner because the puppy had apparently eaten marijuana.My visit was supposed to be to get bloodwork for a pre-dental cleaning. I was not allowed in the office during the exam. I did not like this. After examining my cat and yelling out to me several times for his medical history in front of other clients, Sevalla finally told me that my cat needed radiographs and they dont have the machine there to do that. She ordered the receptionist to get a quote from another vet which was very expensive, so expensive her own jaw dropped. She suggested the Humane Society as another affordable option, but that the wait could be six months to see them. Didnt seem like a good option to me and not with any urgency. I allowed the vet to speak because I was very anxious not to ask her questions and upset her. I cant deal with conflict. Since they cant perform the work, I asked her if she could give my cat antibiotic to ease the inflammation and she said no. Flat out refused. She actually said that my cat has been in his condition for a long time and he can live with it a bit longer until he gets to a vet with an xray machine. Hardly compassionate and very cruel in my estimation. I took my cat to get help with his mouth and he didnt get any. There is much I didnt detail here, but I will go back today to speak with another vet about prescribing an antibiotic and hope she can show more compassion. I wont go back again with my cat because he is semi-feral and wont allow me to handle him. so as a result he is suffering a bit longer as the vet carelessly suggested before. The young assistants seemed very nice, though overstressed and the vets attitude was not helping them. The two female staff tried to excuse the vets sharp, brash attitude by telling me she had bad knees. The vet gave no eye contact either. She had not a good manner with clients. I heard the other vets are very nice, so why ruin their reputation with this loose canon? I ended up paying for required vaccinations in anticipation of a cleaning that wont hapoen anytime soon. They took my money foe other thungs and didnt help ease my cats discomfort in anyway. A simple antibiotic injection coukd have helped his discomfort. When vets cant respect the pet and pet-parent relationship they should retire. Savalla is no good.

My anxious pup Millie typically hates the groomer but she did great here- it was clear that they are experienced with anxious dogs and she was more at ease here than I have seen her at other groomers. They did a great job on her cut and after she was allowed to run free in a designated area with windows and other pups. When we went to pick her up we could see her in the window hanging out with her new friends instead of being stressed in a cage. We are very happy with the service. The price was also reasonable for the area.

I’ve had good experiences with one of the other avian vets but Dr. Sevalla deeply disappointed me.After looking over our cat, she came into the main room and loudly started talking non stop about the procedures our cat has to do, as if all the patrons waiting were also her audience. I would’ve appreciated if she approached the owners of the cat she was talking about and had a conversation with us.After listing out what she recommended we do next, she turned around and left, leaving no moment for us to ask questions. It seems like we had to tell the receptionist everything who would then relay it to her, which feels like information could be lost in the process.In the end they gave us a quote for $600 to run tests, and a theory for one of the symptoms the cat had and completely disregarding the other problems we mentioned.Overall it felt very rushed and depersonalized.Note: Owners aren’t allowed in the room with their pets which I accepted but found odd, since what better way to calm a pet down and help with the consultation than having someone they trust by their side.

The care is great. Be aware that if you need to have medicine prescribed first check online before purchasing there. My dog has been their patient for 14 years I took him for his shots and regular check up June 25th they prescribed him eye medicine which I paid $70.33 I went to pick up a refill August 20th was charged $80.00. On line the max you will pay is $60.00. Fo your online research before you purchase any medicine from here.

I came here because of the great reviews and was seriously underwhelmed. While the assistant was helpful & kind (also cute) handling my baby, the vet was not informative throughout the exam. I had to pry for information & thoughts on treatment (she has an allergy rash). After declining the $400 allergy test she seemed significantly less enthused to treat her, and when I showed her a dental issue she really did not seem like she knew what she was doing or she did not care to be doing further work. I left with a cone & ointment & hope she’ll get better because I don’t want to have to bring her back here. It was suggested by a fellow pet owner in the waiting room that Doctor Alvarez is much better so if I do have to bring her back we will give him a shot. I am not happy with the appointment overall. You can thank your assistant for the extra star, w/ out him it’d be a solid 2.

My wife, dog and I are visiting the city from out of state and my dog had an issue. The clinic got me in quickly and treated my girl gently and thoroughly. Everyone was VERY friendly, from the front desk on back. They came out and gave her treats while we were waiting to keep her calm and happy. I have a great vet back home but if i lived here I would change to ACoLIC in a minute. Thank you for the wonderful care!

Fully misdiagnosed my dog at every turn. Kept telling us that it was simply how he was not a treatable problem (while still charging us for each visit). Turns out he has a plethora of infections they said were allergies or not a problem at all. Do not go here, it will simply prolong your need for an answer.

I highly recommend this place! I’ve had cats my whole life and never really came from a veterinarian visit thinking “wow, that was a great experience!” The costs are usually unexpectedly expensive, the interactions are usually unpleasant, etc.This was not the case here. I was informed of everything up front, when I called to make an appointment. They told me what to expect from the procedure, the estimated cost, the timeline, and what to bring. They also answered any questions I had, before booking- without hesitation and in a super friendly manner.The day of my appointment, I arrived, filled out some forms, and they took my cat. The called me exactly when they said they would & I only waited about 10 minutes- mainly because of COVID limitations on how many people they can have inside. They treated my cat with love, even though he can get a little feisty with new people and I love that they were clear on the instructions with the medicine. The best part, it was all liquid doses, which when it comes to animals makes everything so much easier.I deeply wish I had found this place last year when I lost my cat, but I am so grateful they are my new cat Bosely’s vets! I rushed in there since this is their main doctor and they were so sweet and fast to take me and help me with my puppy! I didn’t want to wait till he got sick to be seen and I’m glad I came here! Checked in today. Rude customer service. VERY expensive.look at the reciept attached for yourself.$85 for an exam compared to competitors that would charge $25 such as Vetbond and newly opened pet clinics.$146 for Parvo Antigen compared to competitors that would charge $40, the affordable pet van in Queens would have charged $25 (just called)I only went there because its the nearest one walking distancce.Save yourself hundreds and go to a newer clinic or pet van.Still waiting on lab results from a stool collection taken today, hopefully they update me after this review.

Dr. Gapas and staff are wonderful and took great care of my dog and three cats. Despite being a very busy clinic, the staff was kind and attentive to my pets needs. My pets needed check-ups, updated vaccinations, and International Health Certificates for overseas travel. These health certificates require a lot of detailed paperwork and many vet offices are no longer doing them because of the time involved. Badette and Dr. Gapas were happy to do it and Badette was very careful to make sure every detail was correct and they did everything they could when submitting the information to USDA to ensure the endorsed paperwork would arrive when I needed it. I now have everything I need to travel with my pet family and have Badette and ACLIC to thank for it. Highly recommend for your pet. These are truly caring people and your pet will be in good hands.

Very helpful assistants and vets. All veterinarian care is expensive everywhere, but they are on the affordable side. Im very happy with them and love that they follow up to see how my cat is. Very caring. Also, their pet food prices arent overpriced, which makes it convenient to purchase with them.

Let me preface this by saying that I have gone to several vets in both Astoria and Manhattan, and I had one of the most pleasant experiences at Animal Clinic of Long Island City because my DOG was CLEARLY so comfortable. Other vets would really get him nervous, but I am still in shock at how wonderful he was at this place. Thats one. Second is they respect the choices you are making for your dog. I have spent the months researching dog health, nutrition, and wellness thoroughly to make thebest decisions for my dog. I like to take a holistic approach in both his diet and his wellness. Just came here for my rabies shot and I didnt really feel pressured to get anything else for him, which I dont intend to do. I understand that there are always situations in which people can come away from with negative feelings, but I really must say that everyone here was super nice and my pup was very happy. Thats all I can ask for. Prices, too, where definitely more reasonable considering it is a very clean and updated clinic.I think that a lot of pet parents dont know the first thing about their pets health (most of them dont even know how a dog gets heart worms) and then are disheartened after a vet visit where they feel they were just slapped in the face with a whirlwind of information and a hefty bill. People, please do your work outside of the clinic. It will make your visits a lot more productive, safe, and overall satisfying. Treat your dogs health like you would your own. You are responsible for their wellbeing and their behavior.

My cat Bullseye (18 years old) wasn’t feeling well and very sick, Dr. Gappas was amazing and she really cares for animals. The entire staff was helpful and really supportive during this stressful time. I would highly recommend this Vet for your pets. Initially, they were welcoming and friendly but after several more visits, I would recommend to stay away. They try to sell you products for your pet at every possible moment. The vet told me to come in one last time so that my puppy receive her last DHLPPC shot. I came in, she got her shot, an old veterinarian lady came out and told me that my puppy has to come in for her last DHLPPC shot and i was like then what shot did you give my dog today? She didnt answer my question and proceeded to say that shes too young right now for the final shot and have to come back next time. I was in shock because somewhere, somehow they misinformed me and did not even bother to apologize. I probe further to what shot did my puppy get that day and she keeps avoiding the question and keeps spewing out facts about what age a puppy should take their shot and that I they will print out a vaccine fact sheet for me. I did my research already before getting my puppy, I did not need her to tell me these. It was pointless arguing because it finally dawned on me that they just wanted me to come back. They charge $50 for every vet visit hence they try to get you to come back often.The last straw that prompted me to put this review was when I contacted this place for vaccine history. This place is super unresponsive. I called for vaccine information and they would put me on hold for over 15 minutes. Ive been here before so I can tell that they arent super busy and definitely have the capacity fulfil my request had they spend one minute listening. They do not answer emails and followup emails. I cannot bring my dog to any daycare or sign up for insurance due to this.Please do yourself a favor and stay away.

My dog almost died of cushings disease because little Emma the lead docter is a crackpot thats against medicine. This a holistic or Qnon puedoscience based clinic. I saw a cat left with kidney stones for an entire year bc lil emmas distrust of Western or first world medicine. Two male doctors finally helped my elderly dog. Shame on you emma, animals die because of your crackpot beliefs. Of course her lead tech judy has no GED or license. Judy will scream at people with no shame or self awareness. Stay in the projects Judy. I saw many people quit to get away from Judys horrible temper.

I am so very grateful to Dr. Gapas and the entire team at the Animal Clinic. My cat was in pretty bad shape and is home now and completely well. She was not a easy patient as she was a stray and pretty feral. She gave them a really tough time, but they are all professionals there, they got the job done. This is the WORST clinic experience EVER!! Long waiting time. We went for a wellness exam but she just did it in haste even without checking the ears and teeth. And the doctor showed very bad attitude without any care to our kitten. Very rude words. Will not come back anymore. If you really love your animal friend I strongly recommend you DO NOT COME HERE. NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL.

I have been going to Animal Clinic of LIC since I got my first rescue cat in Jan 2016. Dr. Gapas and team have continuously provided the best medical care for my cats.Excellent facility and caring staff. Everyone knows the patient and what is happening every step of the way: exam, procedures and follow-up. You and and your pets are treated like family. They also have an in-house groomer and sell cat food/supplements/supplies. One stop shop for all your pet needs.Just an added note: Badette in Front office is key to this vet clinic’s success. Not only does she run the office efficiently, but she is also the one person in Front office who has excellent customer service skills and has addressed customer issues efficiently. She is truly special and one-of-a-kind. I hope she gets recognized and rewarded for her exceptional work. Thank you.

Took my kitten here and they treated her. But they also charged me $75 for an office visit with nailing trimming but didn’t trim her nails at all. Which just leads me to the conclusion I had prior to going, which is that all these privately owned vets are just a huge ploy to get money. Will be sticking to ASPCA.

DO NOT COME HERE. Ive been here a handful of times for my cat and my main reason for coming was because it was so close to my home. My last visit I went there for his vaccinations. I called ahead, asked for pricing and requested the 3 year shots and the receptionist made a note in my file. When I went to pay, I find out that they gave my cat the one year shots meaning I will have to pay again next year for shots that should have already been covered. The vets and techs do not care for the owners and only care to charge more. Theyre not sympathetic or try to educate you on how to care for your pet, they would rather lecture and guilt you. The receptionist just kept ranting about how busy she was instead of ensuring I was receiving the correct vaccinations or having a good visit. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

DO NOT COME HERE!! I had to come here just to get my dogs eye ulcer checked while my reg vet was out of town.. should be simple check… besides it being dirty and the staff extremely rude. They manhandled my pup and because of that her eye got worse. I tried getting ahold of the vet for two days to see what happened. Because they would not let me in the room. It took me calling every hr for a day straight to get a conversation with a different vet in the office who said bring her in. He could not figure it out. Seemed concerned himself told me to probably go to the er. When I asked how much I owed they said nothing since it was from something that happened there the day prior. I took my dog to the er and because of what happened she had to have eye surgery. And then they have the audacity to send me a bill of $90 when they originally said no you do not owe anything! They didn’t even do anything except poke and prod and say umm take her to the er. He didn’t even know how to use the eye pressure machine and just kept doing it to her. Beyond ridiculous!! Save your pet and your money DO NOT GO HERE!!!

Took her in just to get one vaccination. Vaccine itself they charge $30. And they charge $50 just for less than a minute examination. Less than a minute! I was like, thats it? Love my local vet. I have four dogs so great to have a vet on the corner The vets here really care about the animals they care for and and it shows. They saved my Yorkie when he ran into a truck when he got lose and if they were not there, he would be dead. Well, he was dead but they brought him back to life. They also have a great groomer.

I waited for 45 min before the dr even walked in, Of the 5 people working there, not one made the effort to learn my pets names correctly (including the dr), all of the “vet techs” were teenagers, the receptionist kept forgetting or mixing up other pet names, genders and what medications they were supposed to get. All in all, really lost my trust and confidence. How am I supposed to trust them with the health and well being of my babies if they can’t get names, genders, medications and procedures right? Unbelievable how poorly run this place is.

We have 3 cats and we have brought them all to Dr. Alveraz and the other dr (whos name exacts me!), They are so warm and accommodating... and very, very fair with pricing. We used to go to the guy on Steinway and he was more concerned with uncharging than helping our pets. These guys are just so kind...and even though we dont go to them for regular visits, we are never made to feel bad. Its always a sense of how can we help this pet right now Love them and couldnt recommend them enough.

I normally check my dog with Dr. Gapas and she takes time to answer all the questions we have and we like her.. Recently I took my dog for regular visit and Dr Gapas wasnt there so we were seen by Dr. Alvaralez who haste everything and didnt even finish examining my dog let alone giving time to ask question and began taking another customer who say it was emergency . So disappointed. Dont think will go back there anymore. I like Dr Gapas however.

Dr. Alvarez was very rude. I went into the office and started asking him questions about the type of shots my 3 month old puppy should get. As he started explaining his first answer was: “ you need to get it either way, when you were a kid didn’t your mom take you to the doctor?” With a very offensive tone. PET PARENTS BEWARE.I am an actual former customers of theirs and I have experienced the worst Veterinary service for my beloved dog at this clinic, I am still very upset about my experience at their clinic that happened last summer, which I will tell you what had happened .I am here to get JUSTICE for myself but for especially my dog and warn other pet parents about these people or clinic your are bringing your pets in. I will never come back to this place again.My mix lab breed dog had an affected anus and was in pain and discomfort and had difficulty making a poopy, so what any good owner would do right away is take their dogs or cats to the vet for examination and treat the problem. It was on a Friday afternoon, so we arrive as an emergency walk in and the receptionist greets me. I wait for the Veterinary to see me and my dog. I am met by Louis Alvarez. I explain to Mr. Alvarez that the left side or right side of my dogs anus is swollen.After I told him that his attitude or demeanor to me and my dog was like we were an inconvenience to him and he said I can not take care of this today you will have to wait till Monday and that we needed to use anesthesia on your dog to clean the anus gland or flush the anus of pous. Mind you this is not my first time dealing with this situation my other dog had the same problem and the other vet clinic took care of this problem in 30 minutes. A.I was referred by an other dog owner to try Animal clinic of L.I.C. , she told me their price was reasonable. I pleaded with him that we needed to take care of my dog right away. The way he and his assistant handled my dog or took in my dog was with lack of compassion and was unprofessional, they both was rough with my dog and tried to rush the process of cleaning my dogs anus.They treated my dog more like a piece of meat than a living, breathing, sentient being. I should had stop them from the beginning and just leave and go to an other vet clinic, dont ever and I mean ever hesitate to speak up or take action for your dogs best interest or behalf of your dog. Stand up for your dogs or cats or pets, it is our job to protect them. Especially when the vet or assistant is not treating your animals right. But I really wanted to help my dog hoping this guy can bring relief to my dogs pain and discomfort. When he spoke to me he never looked me in the eyes and explained what was going on with my dog and what he was doing on the spot, so I can tell this guy is dishonest. Mr. Alvarez and the assistant never tried to make my dog feel comfortable and calm while he was with them. They disregard my dogs feelings.They were forceful with their movement. They inserted the needle on my dogs paws 3 or 4 times before they could find the vein to draw blood. Come on now you went to school for this training and you been doing this for a while and you guys needed to make several attempts to find the vein to draw blood. My dog had to feel those needles several times poking at him.Lousy vet and lousy assistant. I should have never paid for this lousy service and left the clinic. I should actually get a refund for this lousy service. If I were the owner of that place I would fire him and the assistant.The owner is lousy too to let people like that work at her clinic. Bottom line is these people just care about MONEY and not the best interest of your beloved pets.This guys Veterinary license should be revoked. People who work as a doctor, veterinary, nurse, home aide care taker, care taker of elderly people, should have compassion, patient and aptitude for this kind of profession. If you dont have those qualities than you are in the wrong profession.

They were 3 appts behind when we got there and didn’t think to call and let us know. We came during our work day and waited an hour before we were called in. Once in the dr was very nice in explaining everything to us about why we brought our cat in. But the lengthy wait wasn’t enjoyable.

This place was one of few vets open on Sunday but I see its just to prey on the desperate. After three days they couldnt do much for my cat so I went to another vet and they healed him in 2 hours. Just so you know if you leave your pet overnight make sure you pick them up before 12pm the next day or theyll charge you for another day like a hotel. The staff wont mention this policy to you until its too late and the doctor wont talk to you until after 2pm when their finish looking at new patients coming in. Besides they dont do anything overnight.

I just want to share my last experience in this place this morning . My dog has to be vaccinated this week and I got into de clinic just to know the time they close and for my surprise I was totally ignored by the rude receptionist that noticed that I had come in but not even a good morning or something like that . I was stood for a few minutes in front of her and I just asked a quick question that was: excuse me what time do you guys close ? And she answered me with the head down Ignoring me totally. And I just asked if I need to have appointment for vaccination or not. She was super rude and answered that I have to wait because there was more client there. It is simple, I just expected a yes or no question, but unfortunately, the lady was not willing to help. Maybe she is the owner and it explains why this place is always empty. The last time I took my dog I observed the way she treated the lady who asked a simple question as well. We pay for the expensive service, its not free. We deserve to have a humanitarian service specially in the front . Anyway . I dont feel comfortable with this kind of service because I am accustomed to dealing with polite people.

PLEASE READ: Please do not come here for your cat’s needs or any animal needs. The veterinary who runs the place botched by kitten’s spay which has led to 3 years of medical complications. It took 2.5 years and almost $5,000 in medical expenses for an emergency veterinary clinic to diagnose my cat with part of her ovary still intact. After contacting the clinic about the situation, I was met with a receptionist who yelled at me on the phone, refused to give me the malpractice insurance and policy number for a few days. Eventually, I got the insurance and policy number, only for it to be sham - I just found out today from the insurance provider that they had bamboozled me and provided me the clinics building insurance policy. I still have no response from them on the real insurance of the vet. The vet tried to blame me for having my cat be 1 pound over weight mixed with a poor diet ( she doesn’t have a poor diet). The receptionist told me To never write a bad review or it would ruin them - I obliged until I found out they have been intentionally giving me the run around to avoid the malpractice claim insurance. This means not only is malpractice at play, but they are intentionally preventing me from getting reimbursed from thousands of dollars of diagnosis procedures while still waiting to get her surgery to remove her ovary which is quoted for 2,000 dollars. They tried to get me to come in to do the procedure, but someone explain to my why you’d bring your animal back here after this experience. They also refused to help pay the costs up to this point. AVOID COMING HERE AT ALL COSTS.

This clinic is the only one I trust! Ive adopted from them and brought my whole family (of cats) to them at one point. The staff is so lovely and theyre incredible at explaining the situation to me in terms that I (a non-vet technician) would understand. Two of my cats have kidney problems, and their lives would truly not be this comfortable without the help of Dr. Gapas and her entire team. I always feel welcomed, unjudged, and genuinely supported every time I see them. They seriously set the bar very high!!

My dog and I are both very anxious & nothing makes me more anxious than grooming (we had a bad experience once). My dog is small but aggressive and he’s a fighter. We opted to try out sedated grooming.This was my first time coming to the Animal Clinic of Long Island City but from the start I felt very welcome by the team up front. Everyone was friendly and listened to my concerns. My dog had a hard time getting up after sedation (at no one’s fault… he just has a condition). I was extremely anxious but the doctor and the team continuously tried to make me feel comfortable.Dr. Gappas was patient, knowledgeable, kind, and personable. I saw as she sat with other patients and talked to their owners as she gave them advice. She did the same with me.They took great care of my grumpy old boy and they put me at ease during a stressful on time.Thank you all so much!

I have a husky that had a mass removal surgery and the specialist was great. The dog and place of removal recovered well. The doctor informed us of all possible options as well as the procedure. STAY AWAY FROM THIS CLINIC PLEASE!!! this is the 3 time going to this clinic, I have a English Bulldog in less than a month I have had to visit the clinic two times for the same reason the doctor told me that my dog had an allergy and he needed an antibiotic and an injection. That cost me $280. Well I did not see any change in my dog, he continued with the discomfort. I called the clinic but the doctor never called back, until one week later and She told me to take him back, Guess what? in less that a month SHE TOLD ME THAT HE IS WORSE AND that he needs another vaccine and medication for the allergy, I have to paid $500. in total $780 in less that a month, The lady Doctor is very Rude when I asked why in less that a month she said well ENGLISH BULLDOGS ARE VERY EXPENSIVE AND THEIR MAINTENANCE TOO. They wouldnt let me in the room while my cat was being examined, which is a very big problem for me because Ive had pets be abused by vets before, so its very important for me to see whats being done to them. The doctor was kind of rude when telling about this policy, blaming covid. This is at the point where almost all places dont require masks and check for vaccines anymore. I was wearing my mask the whole time and am fully vaccinated - it makes no sense that covid is the reason why I cant be with my cat in the exam room at this point.There was also a random cat running loose all over the clinic. Even if its friendly, its unpredictable how other animals will react to it, so its a potentially dangerous situation for both this cat and my pets.Will not be coming back here again.

Is 10% a lot - it certainly is, when applied as a business strategy by the Practice.2. The Practice has now skipped the standard follow up with the patient on any issues after the visit. Cost saving? Shame on you Dr. Gapas!3. A reflection on the clientele - an elderly redneck fem enjoys the comfort of ruling, giving orders, getting seen ahead of other patients, be arrogant, offensive, and rude. All this being tolerated and encouraged by the staff. This practice is deteriorating along with the degradation of the neighborhood!4. If you live just next door, you may be tempted to visit this Practice. But that is at your own risk. If you have any other option nearby, please explore it, avoid Animal Clinic of LIC.5. Dr. Gapas, dont let market pressure and cost saving let you hire incompetent staff! Dr. Emma Gapas is knowledgeable about raw diets and holistic integration. Patient and understanding when your trying to explain to her your concerns and worries.Administration wise- knowledgeable staff, kind and attentive. Maintained the guidelines for safety measures during this hard times. My appointment was at 12PM and the staff was fast and got things rolling on a timely manner. I love that they have the scale outside in the waiting areas so you can know your dogs weight of the bat.The clinics was clean, safe, and cozy.Personally, I have been to 3 vet clinics before finding this place, which I found on the The American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association ( AHVMA) after endless research, for my 6M puppy Dogo Argentino.I am very happy!

Dr Gapas, Jane and Bidette are all amazing people. I have taken all of my dogs to LIC Animal Clinic for the last 17 years, and even though I moved out of the neighborhood 10 yrs ago, I still make the trip to Dr Gapass, and I wouldnt dream of going anyplace else. Dr Gapas has a heart of gold. She has seen my dogs through some tough times. Every time she has treated my dogs, whether for a minor sickness or a major surgery, the dogs have always been better off for Dr. Gapass having attended to them.

My previous cats and the two cats I currently have are taking care of me.At first, I chose to go there because it was close to my home, but I found it very helpful because of the doctors dedication to treatment, the responsiveness of the staff, and the reasonable prices compared to other veterinary hospitals.My first cat developed cancer, and unfortunately I had no choice but to put her to sleep during terminal care, but I am truly grateful to the doctors and staff for their support.I am planning to return to Japan, but I have decided that my two cats will undergo procedures and treatment in the United States at this veterinary hospital.All of the staff, including the doctor, are American, so there may be a lot of concerns about language issues, but they are kind and patient.I think this is a reliable veterinary hospital in Astoria, where there are many Japanese people.
