3 weeks ago I bought a toy poodle puppy from this store. I am glad that the food that was recommended to me for the puppy suits him perfectly. Fortunately, he has no health problems and eats well. I also want to note that the puppy has a very good psyche. So I can conclude that the puppies in this store come from good breeders.

I got my zina bobina over a year ago on december 13 2023 from astoria pets. She immediately was very comfortable with people so to me that was a sign that the employees/owners treated her well. She is so cute and well behaved, everyones favorite cat. Love her to pieces, thank you astoria pets💓🥺

Benny is now almost 8 months and has been a great addition to our family for 5 months now. He’s a toy Australian Shepherd and is currently 7lbs. We had some health issues when we first got him because he refused food during his first few days in my place and Will and Don were very helpful. They asked me to bring Benny back so that they can nurse him back to health. Not even 24 hours later, Benny was already back to being his energetic self. They kept him for observation for a few days more until they are sure that he won’t be hypoglycemic again.

So, I have no idea what people are on about with this place. 1, it’s a pet shop, of course it’s going to smell like animals! 2, this is NOT a puppy mill. When me and my daughter entered the shop yesterday, we asked the guy that welcomed us if we could have some information on this Maltese we saw, and he showed us the puppy’s documents. Parents name, gender, and more! Each dog was NOT in a cage, but able to be seen through a glass window. Like, it’s nasty if all the dogs are going to have a bed and blanket in there! They’ll poo on it, so I am 100% fine with news paper strips inside the puppy’s area. Also, prices. Pretty reasonable, 2000 dollars for the 9 week old Maltese is not bad. They included 5 year health insurance for the pup and a chip, also, each pup had all vaccines needed. He let my daughter play with the puppy, and the puppy was so happy and exited. None of them were sad, so no idea what these reviews are. He showed my daughter how to hold the puppy properly and how to see if the pup liked her. The dog licked and jumped around a lot! Also, correct me if I’m wrong, the guys name was William and he seemed very interested in the dog. Great customer service! He understood when I told him we had to speak with dad about it, so DEFINITELY NOT forcing you to buy a dog as some reviews say that. Unfortunately, we were looking for a girl Maltese. Maybe we might pick up a boy from there, maybe. Thank you William! I recommend this place if you are in NY.

I’ve gotten two dogs here and both were the best dogs in my life. It’s shameful that they can no longer sell pets from Grade A breeders. The progressives in Astoria trying to put a store and its employees out of business have no clue what they are talking about, it’s the same story as “cancel Amazon HQ in LIC because they hurt small businesses” meanwhile these people have Amazon packages lined up at their front door. Do yourself a favor, if you don’t agree with it don’t buy from here, but don’t think your views are the views of everyone, go contribute to society and work instead of trying to put others out of it.

My husband and I went in to see puppies and we came across a Shih poo and asked to play with him. We immediately fell in love. The dog was so relaxed in our arms but when we put him down he was playful! We put a deposit down and Mike was able to hold him for 2 weeks as we were planning on moving soon. When we picked him up we were given all necessary documents with vaccinations and birth certificate, Mike event threw in free puppy food cuz we wanted keep him on the same food hes been getting. The puppy easily molded into our little family and has the cutest personality. We’re so in love. we recently took him to the vet and hes in perfect health so we know this store took great care of him. We recommend this pet store.

We’ve got Enzo (mini Aussie) for almost a year now and he’s completely fine. He’s so smart, responds to commands, LOVES to play (nonstop). But always looks for our love and attention. Will guided me how to carry him but never forced me to get him. He was understanding because he had to get an ok from landlord. Now Enzo will be turning ONE on 01/10🐶🎈

UPDATE: Today is 6/8/24..Bailey will be two years old on 7/9/24..I came back to update this review and shut down all false/fake comments..Bailey is still in PERFECT health as expected..He even did a 9 mile hike with me in Shenandoah National Park! He is truly an incredible part of our family! He’s also BRILLIANT! Within a week of getting him, he learned sit, come here, give me paw and high five! Great disposition too! Please see recent photo of him that I added and know that you will not regret purchasing from this wonderful shop! :)I have been coming to this shop since I was a little girl (I’m 38 now)..Today, I purchased the most beautiful, happy, loving, healthy, sweet and vibrant goldendoodle boy EVER from this wonderful shop and I am so grateful! I love my little dood (Dude) (See what I did there?? Hehe) soooo much! I decided to name my baby boy Bailey :) The entire experience from start to finish was incredible! The staff was extremely knowledgeable, professional, courteous, kind, patient, informative, caring and honest throughout the whole process..The staff was not pushy with “just trying to get the sale” and they gave me as much time as I needed to decide..They also gave me lots of time to interact with Bailey, which I appreciated, as it gave he and I time to bond and see if we were a good fit for one another..There were no hidden fees or gimmicks with pricing, which most places have..You do have to have the puppy micro-chipped before you leave, but that is a New York State law, it’s not the policy of the shop..They’re just abiding by the law and running their business by the books in requiring the puppies be micro-chipped..When Bailey was micro-chipped, they were so gentle with him and he was wagging his tail during..He wasn’t in pain or distress at all..Also, I’ve read some comments on here regarding this being a puppy-mill place and that could not be further from the truth..When I purchased Bailey, I was given all information and official documents stating his parents’ information, where he came from, etc., which I will not post that information for privacy reasons, but I can assure you that this shop provides with that when you get all of your puppy’s records..I am also appalled by the false accusations/fake reviews by people stating that these puppies are neglected..It infuriates me to read that because it couldn’t be further from the truth..Bailey was/is extremely socialized, happy, outgoing from the moment I met him! Far from a neglected dog! I am so thankful that they took such amazing care of my baby and were so good to him prior to me purchasing him from them..I could go on and on about all of the wonderful things that I could say about this place, but I will end this by saying that, this place has been around for well over 30 years..Lots of locals purchase from here as well as people who are not from the area..People keep coming back and also referring people to this business for a REASON! As I have always done and will continue to do! I understand that not everyone agrees with buying a puppy and prefer adoption, which is okay, but by writing fabricated, false reviews, all you are doing is hurting an honest and trusted, community business, who truly cares about animals! The owner even gave me his personal phone number incase I had any questions re: Bailey’s care after hours, which was beyond kind..I highly recommend this phenomenal, kind, compassionate, incredible, and trusted shop to anyone who’s interested in purchasing a puppy! I promise that you will not be disappointed! Thank you so very much from the bottom of my heart to everyone at the shop for my beautiful Bailey or as I affectionately call him “Bee” and “My little Bumble Bee” :) I will bring Bailey by the shop soon, so he can visit all of you! So happy this place is closing. Judgement day is gonna be quick to sort through with you guys if you do anything to get them euthanized when you guys close. Unfair, unjust and inhumane. Do something good and helpful if you care so much about animals.

If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. This place is ready to be reported for animal cruelty, and not for the typical reasons. The dogs do look sad in their cages, but what really upset me was that there are four hamsters in the same cage fighting violently. You can see gashes in their fur, blood dripping out. Anyone who knows about hamsters knows that Syrian hamsters need to be separated or they will become violent. I confronted one of workers and he lashed out at me and he asked me if I expect him to just do it and I said yes. I told him that they are going to kill each other and he continued to be disrespectful and tell me that he would separate them when hes ready and told me why dont I call the police. He was rude and obnoxious and doesnt care about the animals hes selling. This place needs to be shut down immediately. I have never seen a pet store so blatantly ignore an animal that needed assistance. Go shop elsewhere. Buy an animal who isnt being abused at a shelter or at a more caring pet store.

This place use to be Petland discount years ago, Then it became this puppy mill site. And it was sketchy before, but now it has hit an all time low. There is always some shady person in the front. The dogs don’t have any food and a comfortable place to lay. It’s just the hard grate covered by some news paper. Why would anyone buy a dog from this place? I don’t care how many positive reviews this place received from people buying dogs for their kids because they want one. This place is horrible and should not exist. I asked the sketchy guy there that CLEARLY has no dog experience how old was this dog in the photo… he told me 2 weeks… 2 WEEKS? First of all she is not two weeks old and wait…. You’re taking dogs 2 weeks old!? Buying dogs here just keeps them in business.. there is no love in this place.

Great bunch of people who own the shop. They have always been very kind and sweet to my dogs over the last 20 years I’ve been in the neighborhood.

I bought a Brussels griffin puppy and I have to say it has been the best purchase I ever made it was 4000. But I don’t regret it and they got me the best puppy for my daughter we named him Handsome he is a healthy the service was great And Willie was our customer service he was great very kind

I had to redo my review because I just bought a new puppy I love this place this is the third time me and my mother bought dogs here the first time was back in 2007 she was a small toy yorkie her name was Shanna sadly she past away this May 2022 at 14 years old then we bought a yorkie poo for someone in September 2022 her name is Faith now we bought a tea cup yorkie Charity Ann we pick her up January 12th 2023 we never had any problems with Astoria pets all our dogs were checked by a vet they sent us too and they were all healthy thank you again Astoria pet ps from mary j

Keith and Will were AMAZING!! We had recently lost our dog of 19 years and were looking for a new addition to the family. They had no problem telling us information on the puppies and letting us meet a couple (with proper precautions of course). Will suggested the pup for us that we actually ended up taking home! The pup came with everything, including AKC registration about the breeders (which is why I dont understand why people think they get them from puppy mills). It has been around 3 weeks since we brought him home, and since then we have gone to the vet twice for shots and checkups, and our little guy is in perfect health! This place is definitely on par with the expensive pet stores in the city, for a much more reasonable price. Highly recommend!!!

We purchased a yorkie from Astoria Pets.The salesman name was Will. He was very informative and helpful.Like a used car salesman he gave that non stop salesman spiel..to get you to spend $3000 they have to..but was very friendly and helpful.If you going to buy YOU ARE GOING TO BUY.I dont understand how many people are saying the store is nasty. The owners have to minimize cost so the dogs are in cases with shredded paper as they are in many pet stores. The times we went there no dogs had mess on them.The only thing I can complain about purchasing from Astoria Pets is that whole medical for 5 years bull jive. ....it says free but no one can answer whats free. Not even as good as Will is as a saleman. ...........Dont let that be a factorI would suggest you read the contract and ask to see the paperwork before buying. This way you can see the medical information...if you go to another vet you can void your contract.....see picture below last sentence on first paragraph..I rather go to Banfield pay the $60 per month and have everything honest and upfront. Go do your research and compare. Spadeing is included with your Banfield contract.Microchipping and license can be done on your own......you dont have to pay Astoria Pets its a convenient charge and up to you.We thank Will and have moved on to Bandfield Pet hospital. I would strongly suggest to give them a call and compare. Some Bandfield locations are convenient some are within Petsmart and also within locations within the 5 boros.That 5 year bull jive medical contract should NOT sway your focus on adding a fur baby to your home and family. So far we have a healthy and well puppy Luna LoveFinal decision the store sales A to B rated dogs a plus ....you will have to deal with the salesman spiel........the medical policy is focused on but its half ASK at best and not a plus....Luna was purchased August 2022 at 7 weeks old ....I would buy here again and send people there to buy.When you call the doctor to set up an appointment they act as if they are doing you a favor.......so another reason I went some place else.

I’m so happy right now. I have been looking everywhere for a Husky, I was able to find this beautiful Siberian Husky Here. The staff members were great to me and my family from the time we walked in, they greeted us and proceeded to explain all the things that the dog comes with. I was amazed by the 5 years of free health insurance, it means alot to me because I paid over 5k in medical bills for my Frenchie. We walked in the store when my daughter fell in love with this beautiful cream colored Golden retriever that was by the window. I inquired about all the big dogs, they seemed to know everything about dogs which made me more Comftable. I have been avoiding this place for so long because I have read the bad reviews now I realize that all the bad and one star reviews were coming from people that never purchased a puppy in the first place. It’s wrong to mislead people with your reviews based on your personal feelings. I feel like I have done myself a injustice by not coming here sooner. I advice anyone that love dog and would like a puppy that is 2 to 4 months to stop by Astoria pets all the dogs were calm except for the few dogs that wanted to play with me And the kids. What a depressing experience. My heart breaks for these poor innocent animals. I am a dog owner and I would NEVER subject them to such horrid conditions. The whole shop smells of urine and feces. Several of the animals have visible eye infections and appear sickly. A friend of mine got a pet from there and it came with fleas and ringworm that ended up infecting 3 dogs when meeting the new pet. All of the puppies have a visibly depressed demeanor. The puppies are displayed in wire floored cages with shredded paper as bedding. If I could give 0 stars I would. I don’t know how places like this still even exist. I’ll continue to pray for these animals.

The employee could have been more friendly but if you dont love what you do it shows. Ooh well. But the puppies were quite cute..

I bought this puppy from the worker there named Will he was super nice he told us everything we needed to know about the puppy and even gave us some toys for my brand new puppy he made the experience very smooth and easy, the dogs were in good conditions, but overall everything was very good and the experience was great also

Very nasty place. 100% fits the description of a puppy mill. The people were rude and very rough with the animals. I saw one grab the puppy very aggressive while throwing new puppies into cages. Leaving cages unlocked. Having little to no food for all the animals. I saw the chow chow puppy today was provided food on a paper plate. Barely any food. This place is so disgusting. THEY NEED TO BE SHUT DOWN. This isn’t my first time being in this place. I’ve seen it before were there were too many hamsters in one tank. Fighting some missing eyes, bloody and ,scabbed. Nasty place. Not to mention the condition of the cats. Poor things were depressed eyes with puss and looked miserable.

Just got my sweet puppy from Astoria Pets and what a great experience it was. They were very patient with me as I figure out the details before being able to get my dog and let me visit her as many times as I wanted until I was able to take her home. They inserted a chip in store, she already had all her vaccinations and they include a year long medical coverage with a local vet in queens. I would highly suggest this pet store any person as they truly take care of the pets and their parents.

Took Adrian to the Caribbean for him to embrace nature as a pup !He is a wonderful specimen !!

Is this place open? Every time I drive past it it’s always closed and I pass by during it’s open hours. The phone number goes straight to voicemail.

This place is terrible and the employees are so nasty and rude-- calling customers Karen after being asked simple questions is NOT professional. After some of us noticed a cockroach in the cage with one of the dogs... all the dogs that were awake were pacing around and looked like they were stressed. Also, just from looking at the owners responses to other similar reviews it should be a HUGE red flag to never give them business. Don’t waste your time here, go to a local shelter where there are countless dogs that need a home.

The dog in the front window seemed distressed. It was walking in circles continuously, as if it needed to go to the bathroom or was anxious. It didnt stop to interact when you came up to the glass. The other dogs inside seemed lethargic. I dont know where this place sources its animals nor how they treat them, but seeing the conditions of the animals just from stepping inside for a moment, I would never support this business with a purchase.

Basic needs of a puppy: a warm bed, privacy, a toy, maybe a blanket. None of these needs were met here. The puppies are put on display like toys. The workers look like they don’t care about animals. The owner looks like he could be a felon with his slick greased back hair.The place reeks of exploiting animals for profit. The little puppies deserve better.Avoid this place at all costs

A disgusting pet store that abuses and neglects the pets. The employees are also some of the most insufferable and heartless people I have ever met. If you are a TRUE animal lover, the way this store holds the animals in cages and never takes them on walks should be your first red flag. The second red flag should be the store itself and the employees in the store. The biggest red flag should be the way all the animals are clearly dying to get let out because they are being ABUSED AND NEGLECTED.

Horrible CustomerSvc!!! The African American man clearly hates his job. He has no interest in interacting with the customers. When we asked for the gender on the dog he said he didn’t know, we then asked for the puppy to play with HER (since we had to look our selves), he seemed so uninterested about the business, puppy and even interacting. I bought a puppy from this place and I paid $700 for it, from the same guy but with the owner in the store. I felt it was an average price, even though the dog was dirty and had a smell to him (poor puppy something that I can fix).I went in yesterday to buy another puppy and the same man was alone with out the owner and says it’s $2100 (I wasn’t buying a tea cup size or special breed) He then asked me what’s the matter you don’t like the puppy? I clearly told him not for $2100, then he said well maybe I can give you a discount. I was completely turned off by his rude customer service and on top of that the over pricing. I don’t know how do they get their prices, or is their business doing so bad they try to stay afloat by charging their mortgage for the store on these poor vulnerable animals. This store has deteriorated and i saw with my own eyes a puppy eating his own poop. I don’t think they are getting the appropriate care. I agree with the rest of the reviews this place should get shut down, or Someone should come and inspect the store and the poor animals! These places should have a grading system and inspection by the city as well.

I just got home from visiting Astoria Pets and getting my second fur baby from them. The first time I went knowing I was coming out with a puppy I read the reviews but was surprised to see so many negative ones. I used to go in there in my high school days just to see the dogs and cats and even then the employees have always been friendly and never dismissive (I’m sure they knew I wasn’t buying one at that age lol). But now yearsss later I was able to go in and see Will and finally be able to get my first ever puppers back in October.I like to ask a lot of questions and Will never minded answering any of them. I appreciated how thorough he was then (October 2022) and having come back for another puppy this past week… of course I had 1000+ questions again, and again Will answered all of them as thoroughly as possible. Whether it was relating to the new addition to the family or relating to their 5 year healthcare information. I loved being able to speak to him about my 1st dogs veterinarian and him knowing exactly who I was referring to and being able to provide me with more information on my vetI’d love to say I’ll be coming right back (I would if I had all the space for all of the pets in the world) but it’s too soon to tell. I can always come back with updated photos of them.Astoria pets… thank you for both Nori (now 7 mth Shiba Inu) and Thor (11-12week old Shiba Inu). Thank you Will and everyone else there who made this possible. Everyone there played a part in helping us finalize. We couldn’t be happier ❤️

Yes the dogs look sad though they are very cute and healthy . I’ve gotten three of my dogs from there and they been healthy and happy one lived up to 21 and another 17 soon 18 and 12 robin

Even with a mask the smell of this place is unbearable. Believe the other reviews. I saw a beautiful golden retriever in the front window, and asked the man behind the counter for his price. As if pulling a number out of thin air he paused, and then told me $3300. The puppies looked anxious, many were eating paper plates and others were lethargic with dirt and gunk in their eyes. The floor of the shop was also covered in paper. The place looked and smelled like a health hazard, so sad to see the animals there looking so depressed.

Passed by and decided to stop in because interested in getting a dog. The place does not look well taken care of, looks a bit run down. Dog enclosure is not labeled or anything with dog info. Saw a small roach near the ceiling and inside where one of the cutest like puppies lay sleeping saw what looked like bugs crawling in the enclosure. The establishment needs to take better care of the animals. Did not purchase or inquire because if they arent taking care of the pets properly that only means heartache and empty wallets for you later.

I got a puppy from there and everything was fine until now but my puppy happen to have a tumor in his head and when I went to check with them they were very rude, they didn’t even wanna help me out, looks like they have started to sell sick dogs In this store again.I wouldn’t recommend anyone to get their puppy from here. People there are nice to you only when you buy a puppy since they want you to pay in cash and after that if any issue comes up with the puppy they treat you like they don’t even know you. It’s your choice weather to buy your puppy from there or not but I wouldn’t recommend it at all. The worst experience ever.

Went in today for the first time just to say hi to the puppies, and I was disgusted by the conditions the poor babies are kept in.Most of the dogs are forced to stay in a small enclosure with a metal grate as the flooring. This sort of flooring, without any padding other than some wood shavings, can carve up an animals paws. Like many of the reviews stated, it also smelled horrible.The majority of the setups also had only a water bottle, not a water bowl. Water bottles should *not* be used for most animals, much less a puppy.Moreover, the puppies had no chew toys or bedding. Almost all were also separated from each other, meaning little to no contact or socialization.To make matters worse, the store had a huge sign encouraging customers to buy these dogs as Christmas gifts. Thats disgusting and is how you end up with a lot of dogs in animal shelters once theyve outgrown their cuteness; I know this because I work with a rescue that literally has to deal with this every single year because of unethical businesses like this. Bit the store wont close because its owned by the same family that owns Comfortland. Do not shop here for any reason.

PUPPY MILL ALERT. The dogs here are dirty, uncared for and scared to death. The owner of this place owns other business in Astoria. He uses this place for tax purposes. No one working here knows anything about pets .. let alone their well being. . Call the city and report this placeUPDATE:NYC has now banned the sales of dogs cats and rabbits in pet stores. This will go into effect in Jan 2024. So glad that means this place will be closing up shop!

I recently lost my dog after 16 wonderful years. Heartbreaking and just awful after having been part of my and my sons life for so long. Wish to say thanks for many reasons to Astoria Pets. My son said that was his sister and even applied our last name to his best friend. Our dog will be missed everyday. She was.....incredible. A healthy and bright dog. Gonna suprise someone soon with a new pup. Heading back to Astoria Pets. I trust them and will stay loyal to this establishment. Thanks to the staff of this spot..... you all are awesome and see ya soon.

Saw roaches crawling in the enclosures today and the puppies are in horrible conditions. Some of them look like they have fleas and mucous all in their eyes. I would love to buy a puppy but I dont think I would ever purchase from here. This is clearly a puppy mill that is just after a quick payday. The staff could care less about the actual puppies well-being.

Ive walked into this place about 3 times just to check on the animals to become aware of their living situation (just for my own curious reason). The last time I went, I saw a Shiba Inu eating its own feces. I told one of the men that worked there and he said oh wow thank you. I did tell him, maybe hes hungry he replied with a, no, hes just nasty, that did upset me. I would have gone further into conversation but I was with my step-daughter. When I did mention that I believe these animals are from puppy mills, they seemed offended but shows they dont know anything. The dogs still had feces in their cages and they look very sad. This place needs to be put away and find these poor animals rescue shelters. They dont deserve to live like this. Even the parrot looks distressed. I feel like protesting this place. Dont buy from here

We walked in just to see what pet stores look like. But our hearts broke to see animals in cages like this. They have puppies in the back, and when the guy went to get them, he greeted them like a dictator talking to his slaves, exclaiming “hello my little ones” with sarcasm and 0 care in his tone. They really have to sell these animals and close this down. Isn’t there a law in NY that mills can’t operate anymore?!

I’ve came here ever since a little girl and even then I noticed a problem. The pups here look very down and most don’t have the proper care in there glass boxes. (No toys, paper plates, exc) Now this was my opinion until I came across a video today where many people in the area actually agree that the animals are not being properly cared for. I then come onto google reviews and come to find out I am not the only one who sees this happening (scroll down!) The owner also replies in a very rude manner to people leaving their personal reviews here which is extremely unprofessional. At last I hope the place gets shut down. My heart feels for these poor animals.

The puppies are incredibly adorable but that doesn’t cover up the dilapidated state of the store and some of the enclosures. It was heart wrenching.This store is textbook sourcing from puppy mills. Best case scenario is that they’re bred from backyard breeders, which isn’t any better.—PSA:Being AKC registered is NOT an indication of ethical nor reputable breeding. There are tons of AKC registered dogs from puppy mills.You’re financially better off getting a puppy from an ethical breeder since they’re less likely to grow up without any health issues.—A few signs of ethical/reputable breeders:- they give you a physical and genetic health test results from both parent dogs- they give you a health guarantee- they will take back the dog at any point of its life for any reason, if you can’t take care of it anymore- they will socialize and do basic training with the puppy to transition into new life- they allow you to visit their home and meet the momma- etc.**Please do your research! And enjoy the journey to finding your dog.

I never post reviews but as a compassionate citizen I must. Anyone who cares about animals should not only boycott this place but consider reporting them for animal neglect! I saw dogs playing in their own feces/urine, and why in this day and age would you keep these little puppies who need socialization separate and alone?! This is cruel. I did not even see one toy in most of their crates to induce some kind of mental stimulation. Perhaps this is why they need to play with their own poop or are depressed and sleeping! Weepy eyes with discharge and pus, dull and dirty fur coats and appearing underweight should also all be signs of unhealth and poor care. The employees rude and dismissive responses to my questions of legitimate concern is another RED FLAG. They probably keep most pets separate to prevent contagious disease from spreading. Easier and less expensive for them. I get peoples need to make a living, but these owners should be ashamed of themselves for supporting and perpetuating puppy mills, treating living beings as commodities and lying to boot by giving customs a false sense of security with useless USDA breeder certification papers. Anyone looking to purchase a dog should instead first get educated on the fact that any USDA certification is a sham and these guys know it. I have worked in veterinary clinics, with shelters and breeders and know for a fact that NO responsible, caring and ethical breeder would EVER sell to an establishment such as this! These animals need RESCUING NOT PURCHASING! BUYER BEWARE!!!!

Don’t go there. When you ask about the down payment , he will be extremely rude and he will say everyone sees it. I felt like I was just asking a question. I am 22 and he was judging me making it seem like I was too young to get a dog. Then he rushed me out of the place and said I have to pick a dog right now when all I was in there for less than 2 minutes and I was just looking to see what dog I will pick. The dogs look extremely sad and it looks like he doesn’t even clean the place right. He is putting the dogs at a extremely high price which I don’t understand because his business is horrible.

My boyfriend and I got a dog here 2 days ago, we noticed she had a cough and took her to the vet today. She has full blown severe pneumonia, her left lung is filled entirely with mucus and pus and her right one is filling up as well making it diffuclt for her to breathe. I spoke to the owner today who insisted on keeping her and treating her himself for a few days or taking her to his vet who sees the puppies at this store and obviously has been ignoring the issue up until this point. The dogs here are neglected and kept in poor conditions. i would imagine many other puppies here are sick also as pneumonia is highly contagious, and probably not being treated. I feel horrible for having given them business, but better because now this puppy can recieve help and hopefully be healthy.

I hate writing reviews but after what I saw today I feel as though I should. My wife and I walked in the pet shop because we were thinking of getting a second dog. All of their pets looked dirty and most of them looked sick. I felt as though I went to a puppy mill myself to take home a dog. Aside from the pets, the employee was inappropriate and pushy. If I wanted to spend $1,200 on a mix breed, then I would spend it at a shop or shelter where they take care of their pets. We had to walk out immediately because being in there made us feel disgusting and horrible. If I can give this place no stars I would.

I’d have to agree with all the other one star reviews on here. These people pretend to be compassionate about animals, but all they care about is money. They would feed my dog pills to prevent him from getting sick from eating his own feces when they could have easily prevented that. All they wanted was to sell him to us ensuring he wasnt sick so we wouldnt take any action against them. My dogs immune system is completely weak because of them. I genuinely hope this place gets shut down for good and all the animals stuck in that hell hole get placed in the hands of people that will care for them more than those heartless two faced jerks that work there. If you have a heart and dont want to be scammed out of more than a thousand dollars for a puppy, I suggest going to a shelter and adopting rather than making the mistake I made and shopping for a dog. The ASPCA posters there are misleading, as a volunteer at the ASPCA I know that if they could they would shut this place down permanently, because of all the horrors the poor animals face there. Not to mention, my dog came from a puppy mill with a history of sharing needles for vaccinating dogs, letting dogs live in their own feces and just overall unsafe conditions for keeping puppies.

Today, I adopted (Shih Tzu) a puppy and named it Fluffy becoz it was very fluffy. She is about 2 1/2 months old and already knows where to poop and pee. My daughter loves her.Amazing service. Both the salesperson and the cashier were very helpful and Knowledgeable. Comparing to other pet stores that I’ve been to, I would say this is the best. They have kept the puppies in a clean and spacious place. I would definitely recommend people to check this store.

My fiancé and I went there and those guys give different price to people. They told us $3500-$5000, and to other customers (in other language) $1500.I know pets are expensive, but why you have to make up prices depending on customers.Puppies seem so sad there, it feels like they do not treat them well.Poor customer service and I felt bad for puppies there.

I’ve had Oreo for 4 years now. He stole my heart when I found him in this pet store. He was super sweet and bubbly. I’m so happy I got him. My dog has never been sick. The Salesman was amazing too very professional.

I got my Shichon Teddy Bear puppy May 2nd 2020, and he is Healthy, Happy and so freaking cute. The staff that helped my family and I was Will he was patient and answered all my questions, also my puppy came with a micro chip and had his vaccinations up to date. No complaints what so ever.

Went to this place just to see the puppies & what I saw was messed up! The puppies looked sick and miserable. The whole place looked like a mess, did not see water or any toys near any of them as well. They looked like they were depressed. This place needs to be shut down. The management is horrible. Tried to charge me 3700 for a Bichon Poo puppy! (Which normally ranges from $600-$3000, The puppies weren’t taken care of! The poor guy had tear stains and eye boogers and smelled of bleach!! I tried to bargain with him to accept 2700 (which is still too much for this specific dog seeing that it is a mix breed) and STILL out of greed he turned me down! Us pets 3150 Steinway st queens I went to this pet shop to buy a teacup Yorkie the worker with the gold teeth African American swore to me I was buying a teacup Yorkie the pup was 2 months when I purchased it. She is now 6 months and much bigger than a teacup I went back to the store the worker was rude I got no where. They should be shut down with a little help from some of u dissatisfied customer we can make it happen this dog was not cheap they should be shut down shame on them they would not give me the breeder phone number either they are crooks buyers beware. 2 out of 10 satisfied ????? We purchased a Cockapoo for my daughters birthday and we were helped by Mike! I couldnt be more happy, he was so helpful and so informative. I highly advise only purchasing a dog during the days, Mike is working.

One puppy was throwing up, they were all in bare cages on shredded paper. No other stimulus. I can’t say 100% that these puppies are from puppy mills or backyard breeders but I do know that no dog or puppy or kitten should be behind a glass wall all day. They need stimulus and love and attention. They also had signs up saying adopting is bad.

Disgusting the guys in there. I went in there and wanted to pet a puppy and was told that I couldn’t because “they’re eating” 🙄Clearly they weren’t. Heres the problem. Ive applied to adopt in 2 different shelters in the past 3 months. And both turned me down because I havent owned a dog since 2001 and another because I did not have a Vet for a referrence. THEY RATHER KILL A DOG, instead. I live in an apt, I work FT, and I took my time in getting another dog. Because my previous dog was stolen from my own backyard. She did have a chip but she was never found again. So ppl like me have no other choice than to try and purchase a pet from store like these. Blame the animal shelters for having an extreme and ridiculous critirias for adopting.

Bought a 3 month old shiba inu with FULL blown pneumonia. The vet told me to call the pet store and ask if they can help out with the costs since they failed to take care of the sick dog and they basically told me to take it to their vet, Pet Doctor, and the dog wont need 24/7 care. The vet told me pneumonia is LIFE THREATENING and she needs to be watched 24/7 with IV antibiotics. The pet store owner said that was false. They are a bunch of idiots and dont care about the animals. This is prpjected to cost me $3,500 on top of the $1,600 i paid for the dog. Havent bought any pets yet. I wanted to adopt. I have spent 3 months trying to adopt a kitten. I kept filling applications out and I am either denied, or I am never called back.My husband and I have a senior cat. He was my husbands childhood pet. Hes 20 years old. A testament of how well my husband has taken care of him. The cat is healthy and very active for his age. But he is declawed. My husband got him as a kitten when he was 9 years old. His parents declawed the kitten. My husband was a child, it is not his fault that at the time his parents were told to declaw the cat for safety reasons. I have assure shelters I would not declaw a cat. They dont care.They also want to do home inspections. No way, I dont want a stranger in my home. I like my privacy.So after months of disappointment I started looking for places were I can buy a kitten instead. I wanted to adopt, but shelters have ridiculously long applications and so many requirements. One particular shelter even wanted to call my husbands job. That is so invasive. So while this place seems to have bad reviews, theres no other option for people that have been disillusioned with the whole shelter bureaucracy. I think some shelters prefer to euthanized animals rather than let good people adopt them.

I got my Coton de Tulear a little over a year ago and love her and they where very nice to me and helped me out a lot. went back a month ago and got my Cockapoo from them and they where very nice as well and a big help. I would say it is a good place to get a dog. I would get a 3rd dog from them.

I am extremely upset i have lost my 3 month yr old pup that i had gotten from this store 1month ago. he was infected with parvo virus. the mangers insisted that he was healthy. through several thousand dollars later all doctors asked more about the breeder in which the store could not answer only that they knew him. he had developed pneumonia as well going through the different hospitals. in recent new with calverton pet rescue i am concerned with all the reports that ive read about us pets that they are doing the same. they should be shut down.

It’s been 2 years since I purchased my chocolate toy poodle named Cocoa from Astoria Pets. I have nothing but great things to say about the staff...they were great and my dog is doing great and never had any health issues. I’m looking fwd to purchase my next dog from them in the future!!

I think they’re selling sick animals to people and promising them 5 yrs of free medical. The Owner is smug and arrogant. He will be nice as long as you don’t ask to many questions. It’s like when you ask the used car guy for the car fax and theyre slow showing it to you. His prices on toys and food are very high. It definitely seems like they want to only do business with poor customers who will finance the dog. Yes finance!! And won’t ask to many questions. Just like a bad used car lot who will finance a car to bad credit customers at high interest rates. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU DONT BUY ANY PETS FROM THIS SLEEZY STORE. You might get lucky but DONT SAY YOU WASNT WARNED IN ADVANCE. I wish I could give negative stars.

I do not know how this place is still open, but the conditions the animals live are pretty nasty, the store smells as well. The puppies in the display windows dont have toys neither, which is a clever trick to make them pay more attention to passer-bys, but not healthy for dogs.

Black guy with gold teeth was rude. I went at 7:50 to buy and a golden and he shut the door on me and told me that they were closed. On the door it said they closed at 8 and I told him that and he said that he doesnt close at 8 he leaves at 8. I really wanted to buy that golden especially bc all the puppies there looked sad and I even saw one of the workers grab the puppy really aggressive. Not a good experience.

5 star service all around, great customer service, clean pods inside n out as the employees treat all the animals in the shop with TLC, as they are willing to work with you on the price and offer 5 years free vet service. Highly recommend as Don n Mike are two of the nicest guys as they went out of their way....

This is the worst place to ever buy a puppy!!! They are rude and they do not care about your feelings!!! My friend bought a puppy here and the puppy passed away a WEEK AFTER AND THEY ARE BLAMING THEM!! But the dog was bought SICK!! This place will be going down!!! Im continually surprised this place is still in business. A small selection of pet products for fish, bird, cat and dog... but what is most offensive are the ways the dogs are handled and the poor conditions in which they are kept. Support their retail business if you must (although theyre is a better stocked Petland a few blocks away) but do not purchase animals there. There are dogs and cats under much better care for cheaper adoption at the ASPCA.

I walked in with my wife to buy a dog. we were kick out of the store for not having a mask. when this is not required by law. but Im pretty sure they wanted us to wear a mask to cover up of how bad this place smells. this place stinks a lot not even a chicken farm smells this bad.

I live in Manhattan and traveled to Astoria to buy my bichon-poodle mix from US Pets 13 years ago when she was eight weeks old. Samantha has never been sick in all the years we have her. She now has arthritis as bi-product of her old age. We will love and cherish her everyday for the rest of her life thanks to US Pets!!!

I told the guy my price range he said no problem just come in the store and we’ll work something out I got there and he told me the store price he could’ve said over the phone without even negotiating with me . Rude business owners, terrible smell, and the puppies do not look well cared for. These puppies look like they come from puppy mills.

We went to seriously look for a puppy, but when we asked employee about a particular dog, employee was extremely rude and sexist, implying that we could not afford the dog

Place is horrible and anytime you leave a bad review the owner just insults you because he knows he is wrong clearly doesn’t care for animals get this place shut down

Passed by and literally saw a puppy eating its own poop, in a crate that was not cleaned. There was no bedding or comfortable place for the windowfront puppies to lay. Judging by the harsh, rude responses by the owner to Google reviews and the apparent conditions the dogs are kept in (not even adding in where these puppies are sourced), it’s safe to say this place should be avoided.

Owner is extremely rude, won’t ever want to negotiate. They don’t care about finding dogs a home they just want $$

The man was very nasty and has poor costumer service I wanted to lease a dog he asking me do I have credit cards not your business but luckily my credit file was locked thank god wasn’t meant to be hope they shut down soon

Shut it down! These are puppies from puppy mills! Theyre charging $1,000+ for rehoming fees! This is a puppy mill disguised as an adoption place! These animals are being treated cruelly with dirty cages and no access to fresh water. The hamsters were being forced to fight each other. Several animals animals looked malnourished with broken spirits. The entire store wreaks of feces. The employees show no empathy towards these babies. Just shut it down please.

Walked in today, place smelt terrible. Cute dogs though, wasn’t aloud to stay long enough to really get a good look because I was directed by a guy without a mask that I need a mask. I ask if they had a mask but they didn’t. Aren’t you trying to sell dogs? Get masks.I was going to leave a 3 star rating but the rest of the other 1 stars justify my 2 star.

If I could give negative 100 stars, I would. Stay away from this shop. I got my puppy Feb 30 2021.He was in a glass box, lying on soiled newspaper. During his first vet visit, we were told he consumed his own feces, and had stomach parasites. After that, the problems just kept piling on.I want people to read this and take into consideration their safety. These sellers will lie to you just to make a sale. They won’t disclose any mistreatment these dogs endure. For the safety of these dogs and potential owners, I hope this place gets shut down.

I walked in and was asking about what are the steps to finance a dog and the men were very rude. We’re judging me and my gf I guess bc we looked young. We’re 20 years old and just wanted to purchase a dog. Someone else was playing with a dog and when I asked to also view a dog he said you aren’t allowed to play with dogs ! Don’t go here they will judge you and be very rude

I do not recommend this place. A curly hair and short guy treated us like we couldn’t afford to buy a dog. He was very rude to me because I did not talked to him, cursing and walking away. No manners.

Disgusting. I cant believe people still buy their pets from pet stores. And its sad places like this are still open. Most of these stores get their animals from puppy mills where they are kept in small dirty conditions. Even the areas where they keep the dogs in the store are small, dirty and bare. These poor dogs have to be on display all day, and who knows how well they are being treated. With all the amazing animals in our local shelters why not just ADOPT DONT SHOP!

I got a labrador puppy and once we got her home the next day she was coughing non stop. Once we were at the pet store I was knocking on the glass to see if they paid attention and mostly all of them didnt as if they were putting in an injection for them to sleep. Its very sad to them play with nothing. It seems as if the dogs are well maintained in that pet store. We recieved pills to give the dog for infection and then the vet we her to said that the pills were unrecognizable they kept the pills for a laboratory test. I would give it a 1 star if I could. This place should be shut down!

Went in to take a look at dogs, very sad! All dogs looked filthy,sick and neglected. How is this store able to stay open!?

We called them and told us their puppies starts at $50 as per the banner on the front of their store say. We travel from New Rochelle Gas and Toll to find out the asking price on the puppy was with tax over $3900 no puppies for $50. This is a ripoff I will send a complaint to the better business bureau.

This is the worst pet shop. I arrived at 11am and they had just opened. After saying good morning one of the employees, Will, asked what I was doing there? This was quickly followed by tu entraste como perra por su casa. Which mean I came in like a dog or a savage. I was shocked by the attitude and unprofessional behavior. I will not by a pet from this shop, as if this is how they treat human imagine how they treat their puppies.See for yourself

Dont go here. One of my friends was offered a finance deal for a mix breed dog. Thought it was a good idea. They made him sign a contract and all. He put a down payment of $1000 and now are charging him interest for it for a total of $2400. This place rips you off and is fraudulent. If anyone has any idea on how he can get out of this please let me know.DO NOT GO HERE!

Scammers thats what they are. Bought a German Rottweiler there.... he ended up having long hair I swear they are so lucky we didnt sue. Never buy pets there because they will scam you with payments. For Example 0% interest they said for 24 months come to find out if we didnt pay the $2,500 within a year the price would go up to $4,500. Btw Willy(owner) if youre reading this youre an idiot.

Just your regular run of the mill pet store trying to sell low quality dogs at exorbitant prices. Sales guys are creepy! There is a reason they earned less than 2.5 stars. They probably write the positive reviews themselves.
