We cannot recommend Devan and the team at Summit K9 more. They specialize in dogs that are “just a bit too much” and that was definitely our husky/cattle dog mix, Bear. We opted for the board and train program. It is so comprehensive and such a great value for all that you get (3-week program, follow-ups, Sunday skills, access to a wonderful community, take home tools, etc.). We are so happy with the improvement in our relationship with our dog.
I happened to stumble upon Summit K9 through a google search one day and I am so glad that I did. Devan is amazing! She tailors her training to each individual dog in such a compassionate way which is evident through all of her success stories. My pup was challenging in the beginning of our journey together and he has now become a wonderful and trusting companion with an array of skills. I owe that all to Devan and her entire team. I cant recommend Summit K9 enough.
I’m not one to go out of my way to write a review, but for Summit K9 it’s a must. I went to Summit when my dog just turned a year old and was struggling with unwanted behaviors. He completed the board and train program/now goes to enrichment daycare and has grown immensely since! Yes, the training can cost a lot upfront, but the results have made it so worth it! His obedience is noticeable enough that we’re stopped by strangers that express how impressed they are with how Moose behaves. One of the surprise benefits from training with Summit was how much our communication improved, which made our relationship even stronger. It’s hard for me to trust people with my dog, but there’s no one I trust more with Moose than Summit. All of the trainers care so much for the dogs they help. If there’s one thing I go out of my way to recommend to others, it’s Summit K9. I’m so thankful for all they’ve done and continue to do for me and my Moosey boy! 😊
Our dog Bailey loves coming to Summit K9! He enjoys daycare so much and loves to see all of the amazing staff!!! Highly recommend!!
The Summit K9 team is phenomenal from basic puppy classes to more challenging advanced training. We started our pup at 5 months with Summit and feel that he has benefitted from every class we have taken. Now over a year later our pup cant wait to get out of the car when we pull in the parking lot. From Enrichment Daycare to scent detection Summit meets you and your dog where you are and helps find the best training method for you. Our dog Nico is always happy and exhausted when he gets home from training with Summit K9!!
We have a mixed working class breed (Australian Cattle Dog, Border Collie & GSD mix). He is very high energy and always needs something to do. We tried traditional doggy day care and he was expelled, twice. Once we found Summit K9 we knew we hit on something special. Our dog absolutely thrives in this environment. He has become a much better dog overall and has gained a lot of confidence from his time at Summit. They have incredible training classes and events to help solidify dog/human relationships as well.
We have had the pleasure and joy to work with the Summit K9 team for several years with 2 dogs. Their ability to take a training scenario and break it down into achievable steps is outstanding! It’s great to have many small successes thanks to their creative problem solving. Summit K9 is a trusted part of our family and they love our dogs like their own. They always get my highest recommendation whenever anyone is looking for training classes, day care, or boarding. 💗💗
Huge thanks to the Summit k9 team for helping us reach the summit! Devan is an amazing trainer and a great teacher! She really breaks down how to train your dog and why you do everything. My one year old cane corso Ophelia is a completely different dog after the 4 week board and train program. The team did an amazing job with her basic obedience and overall training! I dont have a huge out of control dog anymore and that makes bringing her places and going on walks fun again.
The owner and her team are extremely experienced, they know what needs to be done when it comes to training or simple 0daycare and boarding. We were lucky to have them watch our dog for the week even though we were nervous at first it turned out great, they even put our dogs blanket thru the washer upon pickup! People dont be alarmed by the process to get into this facility. I thought it was a lot of work but every step of the way meant something. Well worth it! Thank you again. We will be using them again!
I love Summit K9. Devan has given me hope that our border heeler will be a well behaved dog and will eventually be able to meet friends and family❤️
We adopted Remi in February 2021. She is a 3-4(ish) year old golden retriever with significant behavioral challenges and an unknown history. She is insecure, anxious, overstimulated, and has no social skills. We were totally in over our heads with how to manage her behaviors and help her live a stress-free life. We started working with Devan and Summit K9 primarily to address Remis reactivity to other dogs, and to teach her basic leash manners and obedience. We have seen major progress!!! Devan has shared her invaluable knowledge with us about dog behavior and relationship building. I am finally able to walk with Remi around our neighborhood without her pulling me the entire walk, a major milestone for us. Remi has also recently joined the day camp program where she is able to safely socialize and work with other dogs. She is making new friends and learning that dogs arent so scary after all! I truly cannot thank Devan and the Summit K9 group enough for all they have done, and continue to do for our family. We are all truly living happier and healthier lives the further we travel along our training journey, and we couldnt have done it without them!!!
Summit K9 is amazing! Every trainer there truly cares for each dog they work with and will treat your dog with patience and compassion. They have genuinely helped train not only our dog, but also teaching my husband and myself on how we can better our dog. She has grown immensely under their training and leadership. We cant recommend them enough!
Brie and I started working with Alex in November to address her barrier frustration/leash reactivity around dogs. Prior to this, we had worked with a different trainer using exclusively positive reinforcement. We made quite a bit of progress but Brie was still struggling with dog reactivity. Given the lack of literature to support aversive training methods, I proceeded cautiously in my search for a new trainer. Alex instantly impressed me with her willingness to choose an approach that made both Brie and I comfortable. She introduced us to the concept of “pressure work” as a new communication tool which ended up working very well; I think it was the piece of the puzzle that we were missing. All of the work we did with Alex was still primarily reward-based and cohesive with the training that I had already done with Brie. I saw a ton of improvement after the private sessions and we are now attending “reactive dog practice sessions” with other dogs who are clients of Summit K9. These classes are a unique opportunity to practice around other reactive dogs and I don’t think other trainers in the area offer anything quite like it. Brie and I are now walking past dogs on the opposite side of the road without any issues which is a HUGE milestone. I am so grateful for Alex and all that I have learned from her! I would highly recommend Summit K9 to anyone who is searching for a new trainer, particularly for reactive dogs.
K9 summit has made such an impact in my dog’s life! Her behavior has changed dramatically in the short time she’s been there and only attending daycare twice a week. All of the workers truly care about your dog and treat them as if they were their own. They give updates at pick up and work through problems your dogs having during daycare. I can’t thank them enough. I highly recommend taking your dog to daycare or training. It’s wonderful knowing that when you drop your dog off there they are in the best professional hands.
My dog Ox has always had a hard time settling during family parties, especially when kids are here! With the help of Summit K9 he had no problem holding engagement, settling in place and the leash while people came in and moved throughout the house!
I cannot thank Summit enough for their amazing staff and training. Our Poe found us last August when she wandered into our yard. We knew nothing about her and after many failed attempts at finding her owner (no collar, no chip) we decided to keep her. She was just so sweet we couldnt imagine giving her to the pound or a shelter. We brought her into Summit for day training at first since we really knew nothing about her level of training. She was very reactive to other dogs when we were on walks, so Alexandrea worked with her to help her stop pulling and learn not to react so much. She has made so much improvement. We also wanted to socialize her with other dogs because she just seems to want to be around other dogs and have friends. That has been the best thing for her! She has learned so much and Alexandrea and Holly have been amazing trainers! They tell us all about her day and how she did and which dogs she played well with throughout the day. We could not have asked for a better group of people to help us and our Poe learn everything we needed to know.
LOVE Summit! Everyone is great. They have worked wonders with my boy. Scent detection is so fun. I cannot say enough good things!
SUMMIT K9 is fantastic. My Dog loves the Scent Detection Class. It works her nose and mind. I highly recommend them
Great experience Summit K9 for scent training. We are new at this and the staff made us feel welcome and did a fantastic job handling our fearful dog.
Holly was a great trainer! She really looked at what works for each dog. I also felt like she listened to the owners too. We had two dogs in the class and after 6 weeks they definitely improved. We learned some new strategies and appreciated all of Holly’s insights and expertise!
I want to tell you how much I appreciate all you do and all the people on your team. My dogs love you so much. And I had a proud mama moment recently with each of them. Alli had a vet visit this week. Ignored a dog in the parking lot and sniffed instead, walked by 2 leashed dogs in the waiting area, and when we were checking out a man complimented her on being such a well behaved dog. The vet who had not met her before said she was perfect. 😉Then Friday I took Archie with me to run errands in Greece and we stopped at a Pet Supplies Plus for kitten food. We parked way out and he walked on a loose lease w just his flat collar like a champ. We passed a man who commented adorable and in the store he was right with me and passing people in tight spaces and waited at the checkout. The cashier commented what a well behaved dog. Anyway, I wanted to share and let you know how happy we are that you are doing what you do. Camp has given them confidence and skills that we have been recognizing and reinforcing. 😍 I love these 2 goofs.
Prior to working with Alex, my Otto was people reactive. No way would I even consider bringing him anywhere except for our normal walks and 100% controlled environments. I was even scared to death to bring him to the vet when he was due. I told her I wasnt looking for perfection. My #1 goal was for him to be comfortable around people. Since working with Alex, I can take him out in public where there are people without him losing his mind. She gave me the tools I needed to work with him. We are still training and working towards our ever expanding goals. (One step at a time). For example, I can take him to Lowes and walk him around inside. I was able to bring him to the vet very successfully! I was even able to enroll him in Summit K9s scent detection club and we attend every class. If it werent for Alex, I have no idea where Otto and I would be. I dont have enough praise for her!!!!
We are so appreciative that we discovered Summit K9! With the courses for our pup and trainings for us, we completely altered the way we took walks, interacted with other pups, gave commands, and much more. Our bond as a family improves as well. Highly recommend!
Prior to our private training sessions for our reactive German Shepard, Wanda, we were practically unable to walk in our neighborhood with her. She was so insecure and unsure, it was challenging to try to expose her to things because she would get so explosively worked up. During our training, we were able to learn how to better communicate with Wanda through commands and with tools (prong collar). We are so thankful for the knowledge we’ve learned by working with Summit K9 so far, but know Wanda still has work to do! We can’t wait for their space to open up so we can continue progressing with Summit K9!
I cannot say enough about Summit K9! We were in search of training and daycare for our mini golden doodle, Baxter! He needed to be socialized to build up his confidence. We started with some private lessons and now he goes to daycare 1 day a week. Devin and team have worked with Baxter recognizing his fears and giving him space before introducing him to other dogs. I can already see a difference in him and is not as reactive as he first was. I love the structure of daycare and how disciplined it is. I’m amazed as to how quiet it is when I pick him up. Would never know there are multiple dogs in crates. It is very clean as well. They are always offering classes as well for daycare dogs to brush up on their skills. Highly recommend Summit K9!
This place is amazing. My dog has learned so much and his reactivity has improved immensely. The trainers there are so loving and caring. I know my dog is well taken care of when he is there.
These people took our money for months to train our dog, and every day on pick-up they stated she did great and there was no issues, progressing fine, etc. Then randomly one day via email, not even the courtesy of a phone call as any true professional would do, we were notified she was in fact not doing well. When asked why we were told by multiple different trainers that she was doing great on pick-up, we were not given any clear answer. Apparently unless you want these people to use your dog at sniffing contests to try to earn ribbons to show how good these people are, they are not at all interested in truly training your dog at the level they state they can. A truly unfortunate waste of time in the prime stage of raising a dog. Avoid at all costs.
We have been working with Aubry since July and have seen incredible progress with our pup Remi! She was the ruler of the house and has now learned to listen to commands and understand she doesn’t run the show. We also had a huge issue with leash walking and Aubry helped us be able to comfortably take Remi for walks and actually enjoy it instead of being walked by her. We have learned so much about reading her behavior and learning how to work and train her through working with Aubry. I would highly recommend summit K9 for any training issues you might have!
We started with the Star puppy class for our 4 month GWP puppy. The training and personalized feedback was top notch! We’ve continued with DayCamp and have seen so much growth in Remy! I’d highly recommend any and all programs from this team!
Summit K9 has been life changing for us. Our reactive pitbull has made incredible progress in the time we have worked with them. Alex is open to figuring out what each dog needs and is very patient. They never gave up on our boy and now he is doing things we never thought possible. Alex and Devon feel like family and I am so grateful to have found such an incredible team.
My husband and I are so grateful for the trainers at Summit K9! Our 18 month old Great Dane only liked going in his crate when it was time to eat. When we wanted to leave the house he would refuse to go in his crate; but it was necessary for him to be in his crate to keep him from getting into things. I think he new we were leaving and didn’t want to be alone in the crate. We were at a loss how to encourage him tho go in his crate. We mentioned to our trainer Alexandrea that this was an obstacle our Dane needed help with. Alexandrea explained and showed us training tools that would help our Dane Tommy want to go in his crate. The first tip was to walk him just by his crate so he’d get used to being near the crate but not having to go in. I worked on this training with him for a few days. After Tommy became comfortable walking by his crate I started to introduce him to walking into his crate followed by the word yes and a treat if he takes it. He has been doing awesome going into his crate! I am so happy that Alexandrea at Summit K9 was able to educate us on how to help Tommy associate his crate as a positive place. Our dogs have overcome other obstacles as well with the training they received from Summit K9. We are so pleased with our experience as Summit K9 customers!
My puppy Titus is now 7 months old and has been working with his trainer, Aubry, since 14 weeks. I registered my puppy for training to create good habits while he is still young! One of my main concerns to work on was making sure my pup listens to me, along with my boyfriend. Aubry was great at assisting with this and stressing the importance of using the same commands and then showing us exactly how to use them. At the end of each class we are given skills to work on, which is a great way to keep enforcing and practicing our new habits. My puppy loves how fun the classes are and looks forward to our private classes every week, he gets so excited when he sees Aubry! He has progressed and accomplished so much since 14 weeks old that we have been able to transition into group classes. Aubry has been great at introducing us to what is next for our puppy and I appreciate how much she takes the time to really get to know him and recognize his needs for future growth. She has been so patient and encouraging with my puppy and also with teaching me the proper tools to train him. Not only has her training been beneficial but the overall knowledge and recommendations on feeding, leashes, collars and training tools have all been great resources. My overall experience with Summit K9 Training and Aubry has been wonderful and is highly recommended for anyone looking for training.
Devan is wonderful to work with, she has such a great passion and presence with the dogs, and is patient and kind to the owners. Shes helped and reassured my puppy and I along the way, we are so grateful to have the ability to train with summit k9! Highly recommend for anyone!
My husband and I got a puppy back in December and we were asking around for trainers. A friend of mine recommended Summit so we decided to enroll in the AKC puppy class. It was love at first sight/class! After completing the class, we immediately signed Lucy up for day camp two days a week.Prior to signing her up for day camp, Lucy had some bad manners when greeting new people (jumping, barking, some reactivity), slightly poor recall (especially when distracted) and we needed help working on fixing those behaviors. All of the trainers have been EXCELLENT and so friendly! They have been patient with me and all my questions as well 😂 Lucy absolutely LOVES going to day camp. She can’t wait to get in the car in the morning and as soon as she sees the building, she gets super excited!I see improvement in Lucy every single day and I honestly don’t think we would be where we are today with her if it weren’t for Summit.Would I recommend Summit K9 to anyone looking for training? ABSOLUTELY! We love you all!
I cant say enough for how grateful I am to find this training company who has really help us with out dog. Especially with me being a first time dog owner. Alex is very patient and kind with the dogs but stern when she needs to..plus they make it so convenient with them coming to you and giving lots of different options of training.
Devan does a great job tailoring the training program for your dog. She made an incredible difference for our family by training us, as well as, Ruby. I do believe the key was the one-on-one approach for specific areas we wanted to work on and not a one size fits all approach. AND wonderful to work with...thanks Devan!
Highly skilled trainer, who loves dogs, and whose dogs love them. Beautiful quiet facility within Wyche to train and board. Highly recommend.
We are so very pleased with the progress that Celine has made since we started working with Summit K9. We adopted Celine, an American Foxhound, when she was about 1 and she was trouble. She chewed furniture, stole hats and gloves, tormented our older greyhound, jumped on guests and pulled like a mac truck on our walks. Now she walks nicely on a leash, settles and relaxes on her bed, doesnt steal things and nails most of her commands: sit, down, stay, come, drop it, etc. But best of all is when we take her into stores or sit outside at restaurants and people say what a well-behaved dog!.
The level of recommendation I would give Summit K9 cannot be measured. Our dog, Chesney, was 95 pounds of “do-whatever-the-heck-I-want,” was an impossible walk, triggered by other dogs and people. We started with Aubry late July and we are absolutely amazed at the progression Chesney has made. So much that he can be around other dogs in a public setting, we take 45 minute walks now around the neighborhood, he even walked through Home Depot today. It’s always going to be a learn-in-progress, but I can’t thank Aubry and Summit K9 enough!
We love Summit K9! After failed attempts of positive only training with both of our dogs, we reached out to Summit. We did day camp with one of our dogs and very quickly saw improvements. She is now E-collar trained with an amazing off leash recall. Our rescue dog had some behavioral issues so we sent him to board and train. We are absolutely thrilled with the results! The pricing of the board and train might scare some away, but when you factor in everything that is included, its actually a very fair price. Your dog is sent home with all training tools they used (e-collar, prong collar, safety strap), an elevated place mat, and real life skills for a well rounded dog. If you follow Summits training techniques and continue to put the work in, you will not be sorry. Worth every penny! Thank you Summit K9 for everything! We look forward to continue working with you :)
Puppy school has been so wonderful for our little one. She is really working hard on being a great girl.
We have been working with Aubry at K9 Summit Training for a year now. When we started, we had a 6 month old very active, not good at listening, crazy pulling walker, jumping Golden Retriever puppy. Before working with Aubry I honestly thought that training would be impossible because I didnt have the time to work through what he needed - but Aubry made it realistic and we saw progress with Hank faster than expected!Aubry also gave us the idea of e-collar training which I had never even thought of, but now we are able to safely have Hank off-leash in parks when away from other dogs, walking on trails, and when in fields. He has the freedom to explore safely while we have the confidence that he is safe and will come when called. We LOVE everything about Summit K9, without Aubry, our Hank would be a crazy one and a half-year-old golden with no leash walking skills. He absolutely loves his pack-walk Thursdays and day train days with Aubry, we joke that shes his best friend - but its very clear, shes his favorite human, and ours too!
We are so happy that we contacted Summit K9. We had two puppies under one when we realized we needed training help. Bear and Tucker were overly excited much of the time, especially when we had visitors. Our walks were stressful. They would pull and freak out whenever we encountered other dogs, people and cars. Thank god for Aubry, our trainer. She taught me (a first time dog owner) how to communicate to the dogs what was expected of them at any given time. And she taught the dogs how to understand what I was trying to tell them. She is patient, calm and totally understands dogs. After a few sessions, the dogs are well behaved and now we have so much fun with them. Though we are done with training, the dogs loved Aubry so much that we have signed the boys up for pack walks with her. They get so excited every time she comes to the door. Highly recommend Summit K9!
Great trainers!
