Love this place! My dog and I went to this park and at first she was confused/shy by being leash free and also seeing so many dogs at the same time. She caught on quickly and started to really enjoy the park tremendously!Your Membership fee helps with the cost of the maintenance and all those doggie bags they give away for free and pick up of the garbage. The Membership also helps with “soft” monitoring of who is entering/using the park for if any problems arise. So if Non Members use the park and there is a problem, it would be very difficult/ if not impossible for the county to follow up with the owners.
Great park. Three areas: one gravel section for dogs under 25 pounds, another gravel section for all dogs, and a gorgeous park area with benches, a walking path very popular with the human folk, and a pond.
Loved it! 💯💚 Definitely 2 thumbs up for me!! 👍👍💯💚 The trees there are Gorgeous!! So quite and relaxing. ☺️
This is not a dog park. There is an enclosed section for dogs within the park. Lots of parking, trails and playground. Perfect for strolling, fishing and kayaking. Frisbee golf course.
The cinder trail circling the pond is so amazing! I wish all dog parks had an area like this to keep people (and their dogs) moving. It is a much more natural way of interacting with our environment and gives dogs an opportunity for parallel play and exploration! I love, love, love this place!
Best dog park in the area! Great big loop around a pond (in which dogs can swim) with plenty of green space and also two separate fenced areas; one for only small dogs and another for any-size dogs. Theres also a station with a hose for cleaning off muddy pups and water fountains designed for dogs. There are plenty of trash recepticles with small bags for picking up doggy waste and park benches for the humans. ANNUAL REGISTRATION REQUIRED (including a relatively small fee).
IF YOU CAN GET IN, its a great park! The gate is locked and requires a key card to unlock. As an out of state visitor, this was MAJORLY INCONVENIENCING! Thankfully, we came when someone was leaving, and they let us in. The park is great for off-leash walking as its totally fenced with 3 separate areas. One for small dogs, an exercise/ball throwing area, and a large park area for walking and exploring. Theres a dog wash on the outside to hose fido off after getting dirty. I was both impressed and frustrated due to the access issue. The doggos LOVED IT!! No public bathroom was located.
Plenty of options here, a very large area with a pond (closed in the winter). Also, the option to enter either a large or small dog specific section.
The pond is not always kept up but this is a wonderful Park that has a huge off leash area. Just remember to be a responsible owner and Leash your dog back up if they are instigating issues with others.
Dogs love it and love swimming and playing fetch with the other dogs at the park .. Id rate 5 stars if it had more stuff
Nice place for dogs to socialize and run free. Across the park the creek helps them stay cool.
Its really nice lots of room a dog bath , they have a pond and a fenced in large park .. separate spots for different size dogs ,and fresh water to drink for the pups...Stewie says top 5
It was quite nice. Bags for poo and containers to drop them in. A hose to wash off the dogs feet after too. Maybe a few more benches with some shade for the summer, for the humans.
Great dog park dogs really enjoy it
I love the walk-about area with the pond. Perfect for pups to run around and cool off in the summer.
It is a playground for dogs. Wish it was open to all and not just to people that pay. It is not like the park staff do anything there. The dog owners are supposed to pick up after their own dogs.
In addition to the section for small and large dogs, there is a huge open area (fenced in) with a pond in the middle and a 1/4 mile track around the pond for walking. Plenty of trees and benches. Some of the dogs just love to swim! It would be a nice walk even without dogs
Great area for the dogs to play. All fenced in and save for the dogs.
Wonderful place with a beach for the dogs to swim in.
Wonderful. Im not saying its perfect, as there are sometimes dogs who shouldnt be brought any public place. Other than that, we love it. My dog loves it. It has a small pond, for dogs to play in. It includes benches to sit on and watch your dog play or to relax. They also provides bags, iSo the owners can clean up after your dog .
Park was great and my dog loved it.
Would be great but the County Park dept fails maintaing it as they cant keep it up. They cant keep the bag waste disposal with bags or both disposal from being from being empty. Dog crap is a health hazardIn think they are failing on simple jobs. The Monroe County Executive is repsonsible but is more interested in running adds saying a great jobs he is doing.Hope he does isnt re-elected, there is a better candidate I will be voting for.
Beautiful park. Lots of history. Great trails for walking your dog, hiking, or bicycling. They have a playground for younger kids. Trails are clearly marked. There is picnic areas & restrooms available.
Nice park that is near the city but makes you feel like youre in the country. I love the two areas for large and small dogs, but most of all, I love the wide open space for her to run. She loves running over the bridge, leaping over streams, sniffing the trees, and most of all, making new puppy friends. 🐶
Friendly dogs… beautiful pond for dogs to play in!
Great Park! It’s definitely my favorite in the area!I would not recommend going to dog parks if you are new to dogs. I see owners panicking because there dog is being sniffed or playing. Yes, there are dog their! And if you are panicking, that makes your dog panic, which could make the nicest dog unstable! It does need a YEARLY fee of $25 which pays for it to be cleaned and taken care of. If you register your dog, you have access to ALL dog parks, not just this one. There is a little dog area, big dog area and huge pond area, all fenced in. There are sometimes big dogs in the little dog area, but after asking the owners they usually say it’s because there dog is old, very submissive or skittish of large dogs, so they can only play with small dogs, which makes perfect sense.Dog fights are rare but to happen because they are DOGS, but are always taken care of right away. My 15 year old dog got attacked and the owner pulled him right off and there was only one little scratched on my dog, we traded information just in case anything happened and then they left. Even the most well behaved dogs sometimes snap for tons of different reasons, stuff happens.
Plenty of parking and a nice restroom . Well kept trail with some ups and downs and flat areas. Nice little creek
My dog loves coming here. Plenty of room for her to run around. I just wash her outside the fence. Although the times Ive been there since it opened back up, most of the people have masks. While most of the time a mask isnt needed to be on since there hasnt been a lot of people. I myself pull mine down when I am socially distant since we are outside. I have been to the Pittford park once and we left after a few minutes. There was barley any room for the dogs to run and I like being able to walk around the track while my dog gets to run, swim and have fun.
Saved our dog who got away from our daughter. Found her in dog park. Either good Samaritan put her there or she wandered in on own. We were going crazy searching for her. Thanks to all that helped, including Mike and Tammy. Liz, and everyone that helped.
As a disabled veteran who travels across the country, this is the 1st time Ive encountered a dog park where you need to pay a fee to enter. It is very difficult for me to exercise with my dogs and I depend on dog parks as a place for them to run around and get the exercise they need.I am in town visiting my family, and wanted to bring my dogs to the park and I was unaware that there was any fee and a need for a key code before I came here. The park itself is not very attractive, there is no shade area for the dogs within the park that I can see. There does not appear to be many places to sit within the dog park. There are also no trash receptacles outside of the locked gate.I am not sure where the annual fee goes that people are paying. This is truly one of the saddest dog parks I have seen.
Nice looking park. Traveling from out of town, wanted to note entrance to dog park requires registration to enter.
Best dog park around! After all, a tired dog is a happy dog!
Small dog area is pretty bare, so we went into the pond area. just be prepared for smelly pond doggos after being there. The muddy areas can be a bit much along with the bugs, but its awesome for the dogs. We have yet to meet any dog or owner who isnt just friendly and easy going.
Its a very good dog park but someone with aggressive dog makes your and your pets experience a sad one. A humble request to folks who have a bit aggressive dogs, put some time and effort to train or else avoid parks.
Its not the old unofficial Ellison dog park (ask anyone about Doggie Beach) but it does have a pond for the dogs to swim in.Be aware that this is NOT open to the public, you must register your dog(s) and pay an annual fee.As with anyplace where people bring their dogs there have been incidents. For the most part people do a great job of keeping an eye on their pets. There have been occasions where someone brings a dog that has not been socialized. It is rare but it happens.Always stay alert and stay close to your dog. They depend on us for guidance and protection
Ellison Dog Park is my favorite off leash dog park in Rochester. I am giving it only a 4-star because it frequently floods, and the park has to be closed. When the water subsides, the place can be very muddy.I specially like walking around the gravel trail surrounding the pond. Monroe County provides poop bag dispensers. There are also drinking water basins and rinsing areas. However, this last visit, the drinking water was not turned on.
Very nice dog park. My dog loved it there and today was the first time he has been there.
I love the park. The other patrons are enjoyable, my dogs have a good time, and even though the mud is a bit out of control right now, tje gravel areas and the wash area make it perfectly usable even in mud season
The dog park requires a fee and registration of dog in order to use, but there is no information at the park that this is the case. We got to the dog park and watched dogs play while we tried to figure out how to get in. Patrons said it was open to the public, but this is not true. Elitist dog park that is not for visitors.
Great spot! Friendly folks and even friendlier pups. Ellison dog park is clean, well managed and it also has a pond for our pups to swim in. Well done Ellison. Brilliant
Dogs seem to be very happy and playful there. Make sure to bring a dog towel. They do like to play in the water and the mud. Hoses are available to rinse off your dog after playing.
The best dog park Ive ever seen! The only thing I wish that was better was the pond - its very muddy and parts of it have lots of algae.
The dog loved being able to run it was his first time visit and he ran in circles because he was free. We just went to the front section to get a feel of the place and other dogs.
Super clean and well maintained. Neat park with curious trails thst seem to keep pulling you forward to see whats coming up..even if most times whats coming really isnt that special. But the energy of the park is really nice and light snd fun
Its always flooded, and/or completely overrun by mosquitos. I have seen many other dog parks, this one is by far the worst conditions in the worst possible place. Poorly planned, not worth paying for the $24 yr fee
LOVE this park. Always clean and I love that there so much to the park.. Trails for hiking, doggy beach, lodges u can rent, picnic benches, frisbee golf course and ive even seen ppl canoeing in the stream! U could prob visit every day for a year and still not see every bit that the park has to offer!
Wet and muddy after heavy rains and creek over flowing. However I go for walking and running the steep hills. Dry on the hills. Lots of mosquitoes and horse flies. Great cardio just walking up the hills.
Visiting requires a membership fee and proof of vacinations for your furry pal. This iscall worth for the canine fun to be had. Much free reign running, mudding, and chasing is to be had.
Disneyland for your pup or pups in my case. Only covet if you are worried about your dog getting muddy I would steer clear of this place until it dries out.
This is a private memebers only dog park. Not open to the public. No guest or temporary passes are available. If you are travelling in the area with your dog, dont bring them here, you will be disapointed and your dog will be frustrated and confused.
It was my first time I didnt know about having to have a pass . There was a lady that refused to let me in because I didnt have the pass . She wasnt very nice about it. One side was completely empty I asked if I could go on that side she said no pass cant let you in.
New trees planted and tree trunks all need fencing against beaver friends so no more great trees are chewed at their bases. Beavers will never leave and park cant trap them so surrender and give the trees fencing against beaver teeth !!!!! We can all live in harmony and peace.
My Miniature Australian Shepherd loves this park .I am glad that I decided to go ahead and pay the money for all the Monroe County parks he comes home very tired and I love that
Beautiful dog park with natural setting, water feature, and big dog– small dog areas make it fun for all.
I was very impressed with how the dog park is set up. People were respectful of the rules and other dog owners.
Enclosed area with pond and gravel track. Large & small dog enclosures. Running water and drinking fountains. Quincy had a great time!
The lock on the door is broken - anyoine can come in. Many of the dogs are unfriendly - and their owners are clueless that their dog is being aggressive. Even if there is blood - its an accident - hes just playing... Not safe
Clean and nice. Seems like there may be a few overly aggressive dogs in there sometimes, and or non responsive doggy parents that are very slow to react if at all when their dogs are attacking other dogs.
Looks like a nice dog park, but we, as visitors to Rochester, couldnt enter without prior registration. While I understand why, what if you are just visiting?
As a traveler I visit dog parks all over but was unable to use this one or anyone here. It is unclear to people until you reach the gate you need to register. NOT a tourist friendly place.
Great place for dogs to play! The vast majority of users are friendly, respectful, and follow the rules.
Great area, nice fenced in sections for small, large or all dogs area. Coded gate only for paid members, everyone is friendly.
Beautiful park and great facility for dogs. Bring your own drinking water, for you and the dogs.
My dog loves it there and the people are great.and the doggies too.but if your dogs a humper please restrain him
I brought my old dog there for a birthday party and he was so happy. He got to sit in the shade and got all excited whenever another good boy walked by.
Amazing place to take your dog and let them run around. Biggest draw back is that you have to have a membership in order to get in.
Fenced area to let your dog play off leash. Theres a nice sized pond in middle.
Nice experience, lovely dog walk and park
Ive been going for 8 yrs now. My dog loves it. Pretty park.
My dog loves this park. Huge pond for swimming and plenty of room to run
Very neat and safe for dogs to run around
Great place.to socialize with other dogs . Always looks well groomed and the water feature is fun for the dogs
The trail and pond are great! Our dog really enjoyed it. Loved the pond!!
The stone gravel is quite sharp and cut my dogs paw pads. Thankfully just the surface but we wont return.
Great place for your dog to walk around the dog park there is great great place for dogs to run around in a contain location and interact with other dogs
Lots of space & multiple areas for them to play. Has dirt & grass, but not muddy like, which is a huge plus.
Its fun but the pavilion I came from we had to walk to the park and that land wasnt mowed and it was gross
My dog loves this park I do to always fun to check out all the different parts
Fantastic park with space for little dogs. And you can walk the trails.
Im thankful for this dog park but it could use a bigger running area for the dogs. OR maybe make an area for bigger dogs and one for little dogs.
Great place for your dog to run and play with other dogs in a completely fenced in environment.
A nice park but somewhat waterlogged
Another update. Still been mostly great! We go pretty regularly now on Fridays when its not too busy. You start to get to know the regulars and there is a reasonably active Facebook group. Some iffy dogs show up now and then but you just need to be aware, have a decent recall on your dog, and be willing to leave if needed.Update. Now that my dog is bigger and more mature, and able to hold his own, we tried again and have started going more often. I only go on slower days and times as I like to ensure I can monitor the action. I would always advise using caution, especially with smaller and younger dogs, but so far I havent had any more major red flag issues.Things I liked- BIG open space with room to run- benches, fallen logs, bridges, lots to do- a big pond in the center, fenced off in winter for safety- very scenicThings I didnt like- it was our first visit, and I saw a couple of owners being VERY rough with their dogs, as in grabbing them and screaming in their faces. This made me super uncomfortable.- there was at least one dog who should not have been there, they were clearly upset and taking it out on other dogs.- I got told off by some person for having a long line dragging on my puppy (because we are still working on recall and he is 9 months old) and told it wasnt allowed... I checked the rules later and it doesnt say anything about leashes and lines not being allowed. Drag lines are a super common training method so Im confused as to their issue with me.- A decent number of owners were not monitoring their dogs, just hanging out. It felt like there were maybe 2 or 3 other dog people, and a dozen people who just use the park to let their dog go haywire. My adolescent isnt perfect but Im monitoring and intervening as needed, not on my cellphone.I may try again when he is older but Im uncertain if we will use this park. I may try to go at a weirder time when there may he fewer dogs and people as Id love to practice his recall.
With a quarter mile gravel track and a pond its great for dogs to run and swim
I love that they have added an ice rink. I hope they put up a warm up club house soon.Would make it perfect.
A nice place to take your dogs, just remember to register them or they wont be able to go
Fishing in Irondequoit Creek not using dog park. Good fishing right next to dog park
Great place for your dog. A bit muddy. Membership requires.
Large run area with pond. Large and small dog exercise areas.
Dog friendly water and shade perfect for a fluffy dog with Lots of fur
Still waiting to hear the hole in the fence is closed so dogs arent getting out of the park and onto the NYS Thruway 😣
Beautiful serene and relaxing.
Great place everything green
Great for cookouts, hikes and it has a playground close to the grills
Both me and the dogs love this place. It is so good for them.
We love this park!!
Great place for dogs to run, mix and swim together
My little lady loves this park above all others in rochester!
My dogs have the best time each time we go.
Great place to bring your dogs. Everyone is friendly.
Could be bigger but well maintained.the prk is beautiful though
This guy loves the pond!
Take my Drogo there everyday
Enjoyed a very lovely ground hogs day party there!
Lovely dog park, part of the Monroe county dog parks system. Reasonable annual fee, which allows you access to all 4 of their dog park locations. Locked gates with keypad or card codes, to insure that guests are registered. There are both fenced areas, and a nice trail around a pond. There are watering stations, available poop bags, and an area to rinse off your dog before putting them back in your car. Lots of nice dogs and owners there. Off street parking, as well.
Great place for your pet to get lots of exercise...
You cant not know Ellison Dog Park.
Ellison is a very good park for the dogs at a convenient location. Always bring our dog here, she loves the fresh air and the running around, as we live in an apartment. If you want your dog to have the best time, this is it (Just make sure you to collect, not everybody in this park do).
The dogs are like little kids at the play grounds , whats not to love !!!
Great dog park! Happy place
Fun place for dogs to run and play!!!
Great place for the dogs to be able to run
Must have local resident key card (and pre-registered dog).
Place is a natural respite, well maintained. Small dog fenced area has nothing of interest so we go to the pond area.Unfortunately, my little cairn mix was bitten by a larger dog this morning. Owner was apologetic, but it was obvious she couldnt control her 3 large dogs. Be careful if you meet up with her 3! I rushed my dog to emergency and didnt get contact info.
Bring bug spray, the mosquitoes are legion (really bad).
Loved seeing all of the dogs play!
Clean... dogs friendly and their parents behaved as well.
Oak trees on top of the drumline were awesome
My dog loves to go there! It has separate fenced areas for large & small dogs and a very large grassy area with a pond for the dogs to swim.
The cabin is very spacious and beautiful
I dont know what we would have done without Ellison while we were renting. We made so many dog and dog owner friends while we were here. Well worth the minor membership fee. Note that the membership grants you access to all of the county dog parks including the Henrietta and Brockport ones.In addition to the great dog park, Ellison itself is a beautiful park with lots of great walking trails, which can be a good if you want to do some leesh training before / after your dogs playtime.
Its nice. 3 areas for your k9 to play. Small to large dogs. Also a place to wash your dog after a swim in the pond.
Nice place to bring your 4 legged friends.
We love this place, specially Biff and Bubbles
Looked nice, but as an out of town visitor we could not access it
Our dog gets excited when we are near, and I have a good time visiting with other dog owners! Hearing the dogs jump in the pond is almost like having a place on a lake!
Nice dog park but you need to be a member to go in.
Great place to hike around with family or fido.
Doesn’t have doggy bags and that is disappointing.
Could not enter the gated area. Phone number posted got unanswered.
Awesome Dogs and humans as well.Always positive .
Still our dogs fave!
Great dog park, occasional unintelligent dog owners
Members only - need an electronic card to enter. Looked to be all cement and no shade at all.
Beautiful
It was very wet because it had rained. Parking lot had massive puddles even though the surrounding roads were dry. Area was very mushy. Wet, muddy dog.😕
DONT LET YOUR DOG DRINK THE WATER
Dogs are mean and this park is not safe
My favorite park in Rochester.
Just becareful with your dogs at dog park the ponds are standing water had it tested not good at all ..also besides the dog park there is a leash law and pick up your waste
Best dog park around!
Decent tennis courts.
Indian Hill Repeats... Intense!!
Sucks. Best part of it is closed.
Fun place for all dogs
Best dog park ever
See previous post great place
